HEALTH NEWS Turmeric Extract CLE Improves Orientation and Attention in Middle-Aged Adults, Study Finds Healthy midlife habits linked to longer dementia-free years Industrial Chicken Farming Is Supercharging the Spread of a Dangerous Foodborne Bacterium How folic acid may protect a baby's developing brain and spinal cord Study: Exercise Prompts Liver Enzyme That May Protect Brain Barrier Turmeric Extract CLE Improves Orientation and Attention in Middle-Aged Adults, Study Finds August 10 2026 (Natural News) A 24-week clinical trial published in Frontiers in Nutrition has found that a non-curcumin turmeric extract known as CLE (curcuma longa extract) improved two cognitive functions – orientation and attention – in healthy adults aged 40 to 69. The study tested 35 cognitive measures and reported statistically significant improvements on only two: awareness of time, place and surroundings (orientation) and the ability to focus and ignore distractions (attention). Alzheimer's disease affects about 5.3 million Americans, making it the leading cause of dementia and the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. The CLE extract tested in this trial contains different compounds – turmeronols A and B and bisacurone – which have shown anti-inflammatory effects in laboratory models. The trial enrolled 40 participants with subtle cognitive changes still considered within the normal range. They were randomly assigned to take either two CLE capsules daily or a placebo for 24 weeks. Cognitive assessments were administered at baseline, at 12 weeks, and at 24 weeks using standard screening tools and an eye-tracking platform. After six months, participants in the CLE group scored higher on orientation compared with the placebo group, according to both an eye-tracking cognitive test and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment – Japanese version (MoCA-J). The CLE group also demonstrated better attention – the ability to focus and ignore distractions – based on the eye-tracking assessment. Healthy midlife habits linked to longer dementia-free years New York University Langone Health, August 6 2026 (News-Medical) Having normal blood pressure, no diabetes, and not smoking from age 48 to 68, are associated with nearly 13 additional years on average of dementia-free life, a new study shows. Led by NYU Langone Health researchers, the new work also found that, no matter how many risk factors they had, women lived longer without dementia than men, and that white study participants had more dementia-free years than Black participants. The findings argue that people need to actively avert these factors in midlife as a strategy for preserving brain health for more than a decade. The current study looked at 12,409 people with an average age of 56 who were free of dementia. Participants were assessed for three risk factors: high blood pressure, diabetes, and smoking. They were then followed for an average of 26 years. Those who had no risk factors lived without developing dementia nearly 13 years longer than people with the three risk factors (30 years total after the study's start versus 17 years). The team also sought to determine how cardiovascular risk factors in midlife influenced dementia-free survival across demographics. Women with all three risk factors lived an average of 18.1 years from the start of tracking without developing dementia, compared to 16.6 years for male study participants. White participants with all three risk factors lived an average of 19.6 years without developing dementia, compared to 16 years for Black participants. Industrial Chicken Farming Is Supercharging the Spread of a Dangerous Foodborne Bacterium Oxford University, August 10, 2026 (SciTech Daily) Commercial poultry farms now hold billions of chickens, creating a vast habitat where bacteria can move, mix and adapt. An analysis from the Ineos Oxford Institute for Antimicrobial Research at the University of Oxford found that industrial poultry production has increased the movement of Campylobacter more than 100 times, allowing strains once associated with wild birds to circulate widely among farmed chickens. Campylobacter is the world's most common bacterial cause of diarrhea. Treatment is also becoming more difficult as antimicrobial resistance (AMR), the ability of bacteria to withstand drugs intended to kill them, continues to rise. Researchers analyzed nearly 2,800 Campylobacter genomes collected from chickens and wild birds in 30 countries (including the UK and USA) between 1979 and 2024. Their study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), indicates that the global growth of chicken production has given different strains more opportunities to spread, exchange genetic material and acquire traits that support survival. Chickens now represent about 70% of all bird biomass on Earth. The findings suggest that enormous, densely packed flocks may function as ecological ‘pathogen sponges,' taking in bacterial strains from different sources and amplifying them. How folic acid may protect a baby's developing brain and spinal cord Hebrew University of Jerusalem, August 11 2026 (Medical Xpress) For more than 30 years, one piece of pregnancy advice has been remarkably consistent: Take folic acid. The reason is clear. Folic acid, or vitamin B9, can lower the risk of neural tube defects, serious birth defects that happen when the early structure that becomes the brain and spinal cord does not close properly. What has been much less clear is how folic acid works. Now, researchers may have found an important part of the answer. In a new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, scientists discovered that folic acid appears to rely on an enzyme called ALDH1L1. That enzyme helps produce retinoic acid, a powerful developmental signal made from vitamin A. Scientists have long known that folic acid can help prevent many of these defects. But the vitamin seems to be doing more than simply supplying nutrients. The new research suggests that folic acid helps switch on ALDH1L1, a gene that makes the ALDH1L1 enzyme. That enzyme can then help turn a vitamin A-related molecule called retinaldehyde into retinoic acid. Retinoic acid acts like a set of instructions, telling developing cells when to grow, what to become, where to go and when to stop dividing. Study: Exercise Prompts Liver Enzyme That May Protect Brain Barrier University of California at San Francisco, August 10 2026 (Natural News) Researchers at the UC San Francisco Bakar Aging Research Institute have found that exercise prompts the liver to release an enzyme that travels through the bloodstream to the brain and repairs the blood-brain barrier, according to a study published in the journal Cell. The enzyme, called GPLD1, removes a protein called TNAP that accumulates on blood-brain barrier cells over time, the report stated. The findings describe a direct liver-to-brain pathway that partly explains how physical activity protects the brain. The study identified TNAP as a protein that builds up on blood-brain barrier cells over time, according to the researchers. GPLD1 acts to remove TNAP, restoring the barrier's ability to admit nutrients and oxygen while blocking toxins, pathogens, and inflammatory molecules. The findings suggest that consistent, moderate exercise may trigger GPLD1 release, according to the report. Activities such as walking, cycling, and yoga may support cognitive health through this liver-brain connection, the researchers said.       Discussion about this episode

Anyone following the Lindsay Clancy murder trial has watched a second case get built in public against her husband. Patrick Clancy has never been charged, never been named by a detective, and never been accused by her own defense team. He is being convicted anyway, daily, by strangers. The loudest item on the list is the lawsuit. He sued four of her providers on behalf of his three children's estates, and a great many people read that as a man constructing himself a story. Lindsay sued eleven, seven of them individual providers, plus McLean Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. Both filings argue the same thing about the care she got.Tony Brueski works through what the accusation needs to be true and what the record actually holds. Where the errand originates. What the toxicology came back as. What two strangers on a phone line heard from her minutes before. Dr. Jennifer Tufts, a defendant in those suits, has been on the stand defending the care she gave, with Julie Paul called after her.And there is one thing he did a year after losing them that the people prosecuting him online have never had to account for.He made that same argument first, days after the funerals, when he asked strangers on a fundraising page to forgive her the way he had. He told police the medications had given her the worst side effects possible. He said he was not married to a monster.Eighteen jurors have now heard every fact this accusation rests on, under oath, and not one of them has been asked to consider him.Come for the list. Stay for the item nobody on either side argues with him about.END_LINKS:Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? It's Thursday, August 13th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Haitian gangs target churches Violent gangs in Haiti are increasingly targeting churches. These gangs control up to 90 percent of the capital of Port-au-Prince. They have killed and kidnapped religious leaders and shut down dozens of churches.  Catholic Bishop Joseph Gontrand Décoste told Aid to the Church in Need, “We are the last remaining retaining wall: moral, ethical, spiritual, and prophetic. … That is why they want to eliminate us.” Christians help victims of Columbia's earthquake Christians are bringing disaster relief to Colombia.  A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck the South American country on Monday. The quake killed 250 people and injured thousands more.  Many Christian relief organizations are sending aid to the country, including Samaritan's Purse. Franklin Graham, the president, wrote on X, “We … are currently working to put together an airlift of relief supplies, including emergency shelter tarp and hygiene kits. I encourage you to pray for the people of this country.” Hebrews 13:16 says, “Do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” Send a much-needed donation to the Columbian victims of this earthquake through Samaritan's Purse. You'll find the donation link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. Mexican Bible Society translates Scriptures into 8 local languages The Bible Society of Mexico is celebrating six decades of ministry this year. The Bible has been translated into eight indigenous languages in the country. And the demand for Bibles is growing as Protestant churches expand their presence.  Efraín Amaro is the head of distribution of the Bible society. He told Christian Daily International, “In 60 years, more than 374 million biblical materials have been distributed. We have reached 13 cities across the country with service and distribution centers.” Revelation 7:9-10 says, “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation belongs to our God Who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!'” White House Press Secretary Karolien Leavitt embraces motherhood White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, age 28, will be leaving her position to fully embrace motherhood. She and her 60-year-old husband, Nicholas Riccio, have two children together -- their son Niko, 2, and Viviana who is three months. In a Truth Social post, President Donald Trump explained that she “will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect!” In a statement on X, Leavitt added, “Serving as the White House Press Secretary over the past year and a half has been the honor and adventure of a lifetime. I am incredibly grateful to President Trump for granting me so many extraordinary opportunities, such as working in the West Wing and spending countless hours in the Oval Office, flying around the world and meeting foreign leaders, and traveling across our beautiful country and meeting Americans from all walks of life. “The truth is, since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary. And that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House.” Titus 2:4-5 says, “Train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.” Democrat socialist barely defeated in Wisconsin Socialist Democrats suffered a setback in Wisconsin on Tuesday. Moderate David Crowley barely defeated socialist Francesca Hong in the Democrat primary election for governor. According to NBC, the vote was 39.8% vs 39.3%. Just 3,796 votes separated the two in the statewide race. Leftist candidates had been winning many Democrat primaries this year. Despite being considered a moderate, Crowley believes that killing unborn babies is “healthcare” and must be “protected at all costs.” He made this comment in his victory speech. CROWLEY: “Every one of us has something much bigger to unite around. And that is keeping [Make America Great Again] extremism from bringing the chaos we see in Washington into our neighborhoods right here in the state of Wisconsin. From the very first day that I announced this campaign, I said the real threat wasn't any of my primary opponents. The real opponent has always been Tom Tiffany. That remains true today.” Tiffany, the Republican nominee for Wisconsin governor, is currently a member of Congress. The Washington Examiner reports that new Democratic-affiliated polling shows Crowley beating Tiffany by three points this fall, though the race is within the margin of error. Crowley leads Tiffany 47% to 44%, according to the poll by Protect Our Wisconsin, a group backed by the Democratic Governors Association.  Federal gov't gave mega money to religious migrant resettlement groups The federal government funded major religious groups with hundreds of millions of dollars in migrant resettlement grants. The data comes from Brian Chau, the founder of Efforts News. Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk brought attention to this research in a post on X this week. In one case, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops received over $180 million dollars in migrant resettlement grants in 2024. That was over 80 percent of the group's revenue at the time. The contracts ended last year after the Trump administration cut funding to such programs.  Women hold more jobs than men in America Women now hold more jobs than men in the U.S economy.  A report from Indeed's Hiring Lab found the number of jobs held by men declined by 142,000 between February 2025 and February 2026. Over the same period, the number of jobs held by women grew by 298,000.   The report noted, “More jobs are held by women than men in the non-farm economy, not because of a recession, but because of years of eroding male labor force participation.” Americans become skeptical of capitalism Americans are becoming less positive toward capitalism. A new Gallup survey found 54 percent of U.S. adults said they have a positive image of capitalism. That's down from 61 percent in 2010. Thirty-nine percent said they have a positive image of socialism. That's up from 36 percent in 2010. The drop in positivity toward capitalism has accelerated since 2021. Americans trust small, local businesses and churches And finally, Americans tend to trust small, local institutions, according to research from the Barna Group.  U.S. adults put some of their highest trust in local businesses, individual Christians, and small churches. They put moderate trust in Christian pastors, Christian non-profits, and Christian businesses. But they had little trust for megachurches and celebrity pastors.  Compared to 2024, Christian non-profits, charities, and small churches saw the largest growth on the trust index.  Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, August 13th, in the year of our Lord 2026. On August 12-13, 1967, Glacier National Park had a double tragedy: two 19-year-old girls were hiking in separate groups in separate parts of the park. Both were attacked by grizzly bears. For Julie and Michele, the results were deadly. But for other people and bears, the tragedy had more positive consequences. As a result of this night, wildlife management changed. Many familiar policies were instituted after this night to keep both humans and bears safe. When your body begins changing during perimenopause and menopause, the fitness industry's answer is usually predictable:Eat less.Cut the carbs.Skip breakfast.Fast longer.Do more cardio. But what if eating less isn't actually the strategy your body needs? In Part 3 of Menopause in the Light, Coach Alex Van Houten turns to nutrition—and challenges the idea that midlife health is simply about making the number on the scale smaller.Menopause changes physiology, but it doesn't erase physiology. Energy balance still matters. But so do muscle mass, protein intake, sleep, training, insulin sensitivity, food quality, recovery, and the hormonal changes influencing where and how your body stores fat.The goal isn't just weight loss. The goal is to build and maintain a woman who is strong, capable, metabolically healthy, resilient, well-nourished, and ready to serve. In this episode, Coach Alex breaks down:Why dramatically cutting calories can backfire during menopauseThe difference between weight loss and improving body compositionWhy protein becomes increasingly important as women ageA practical strategy for getting enough protein throughout the dayWhy carbohydrates aren't the enemyThe difference between food and fuelHow whole, nutrient-dense foods can simplify your nutritionFiber, calcium, vitamin D, healthy fats, and bone healthIntermittent fasting and when it may—or may not—serve youWhy breakfast can be a powerful opportunity for better nutritionAlcohol, sleep, and taking an honest inventory of your habitsCreatine and supplements during menopauseIron considerations during perimenopauseWhy you should be skeptical of products promising to “balance your hormones”How husbands and families can support women without becoming the “food police”A biblical perspective on food, gratitude, self-control, and stewardshipCoach Alex also offers a simple framework for building meals:Start with protein. Add plants. Add fuel according to your activity. Pay attention to your fats.Nothing exotic. Nothing magical.Just a repeatable strategy that can still work next year.As 1 Corinthians 10:31 reminds us: “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all for the glory of God.”Food isn't God.Food isn't the enemy. It's provision—and something we are called to receive with gratitude and steward with wisdom.TAKE THE NEXT STEPIf you're navigating perimenopause or menopause and know it's time to make a change, Coach Alex wants to help you identify where you are now and what deserves your attention first.Go to: faithfulfitness.co/menopauseComplete the Faithful Fitness Assessment and claim your seat for the upcoming live seminar. You'll learn how to take your current starting point and build a practical plan for getting meaningful results over the next 30 days—without miracle supplements, crash diets, or internet gimmicks.Take the assessment and reserve your seat: faithfulfitness.co/menopauseNext week: Menopause in the Light, Part 4 — hormone replacement therapy, sleep, sexual health, supplements, peptides, medical care, and how to know when it's time to ask for more help.Train hard. How do you lead through the ultimate crisis while staying true to yourself?   In this episode of Women of Color Rise, I speak with Dr. Meisha Porter—lifelong educator and former NYC Schools Chancellor. Meisha was the first Black woman to lead the nation's largest school district, navigating the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19 and a mayoral transition.   A proud Black woman and "nurturer of community," Meisha shares the raw truth about the costs of high-level leadership and why "having it all" is a myth.   She shares lessons for rising leaders: •Reject the "Have It All" myth. Success without rest leads to burnout. You must pour back into yourself to stay in the game. •Lead with one version of you. Authenticity is a superpower. Whether on a keynote stage or in the grocery store, Meisha was the same Meisha. •Don't read the comments. Not everyone will like your decisions. Trust your integrity and the love of those who truly know you. •Practice radical self-care. As Audre Lordes shared, self-care is an act of political warfare. Do something selfishly for yourself today.   Through her journey, Meisha reminds us that the most important person to like and love you is you.

Women regularly hold leadership roles in stats departments at universities and in major statistical organizations, but it wasn't so long ago that women had to fight to be included. At one point, women faculty had to climb through the windows of the faculty club at Berkeley to attend meetings there; the stories of the struggles of women to be accepted in the profession aren't always visible. But one scholar is working to ensure those stories aren't forgotten. That's the focus of this episode of Stats and Stories with guest Amanda Golbeck.  Amanda Golbeck is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Public Health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she's also a professor of biostatistics. In this solo episode I'm getting into inflammaging, the second great time bomb of aging, and what happens when your body's emergency crew never clocks out. Think alarm bells ringing around the clock, sirens that never quiet down.   And here's where it gets personal: perimenopause. That's the wake-up call, the moment declining estrogen strips away one of your most powerful anti-inflammatory shields, and suddenly the fire's raging and no one tells you why.   So I'm not leaving you there. The Joshua tree is an icon and ecological keystone of the California deserts. However, climate disruption with hotter, drier summers and more frequent brush fires, threatens that some day soon Joshua Tree National Park will no longer have any Joshua trees. This interview was originally recorded in 2021, and the changing, heating, sweltering climate, with anomalous rainfall, parched, soaked, flooded, massive storms/no storms keeps expanding/lacerating us, burning homes and landscapes, inundating neighborhoods, drying out our reservoirs. We do have, however, some solutions available to us to preserve important ecosystems, like our deserts. We discuss these systems and investigate what solutions for the Mojave Desert are needed. Are solar farms in the desert an appropriate renewable energy solution, or do they cause more harm than good? What about the consequences of lithium mining in Death Valley for electric vehicles? Did you know it is not a wise idea to grow your own Joshua Tree from imported seeds? Our guest, James Cornett [https://www.amazon.com/stores/James-W.-Cornett/author/B001K84BWE?ref=ap_rdr&isDramIntegrated=true&shoppingPortalEnabled=true], is an ecologist, author, and principal biologist at JWC Ecological Consultants. 174: Hormone Imbalance: What TikTok Gets Wrong About Cortisol, PCOS & Estrogen Dominance

Spend enough time on TikTok or Instagram and almost every symptom from fatigue and weight gain to anxiety, irregular periods, brain fog, and poor sleep, can suddenly become evidence that your hormones are "out of balance" - but a viral video is not a diagnosis. In this episode of Confessions of a Male Gynecologist, Dr. Shawn Tassone breaks down some of the most common hormone claims circulating on social media and explains why women's hormonal health is rarely as simple as one symptom, one lab value, one supplement, or one trending diagnosis. Dr. Tassone takes a closer look at hormone imbalance, cortisol, adrenal fatigue, PCOS, estrogen dominance, perimenopause, hormone testing, and supplements, and why context matters before deciding what is actually happening in your body. In this episode, Dr. Tassone discusses: What people actually mean when they say their hormones are imbalanced Why cortisol has become one of the internet's favorite hormones to blame The problem with diagnosing yourself with "adrenal fatigue" from fatigue, stress, or burnout Why symptoms alone aren't enough to diagnose PCOS What should actually be considered during a proper PCOS evaluation Why the term "estrogen dominance" is often oversimplified online How perimenopause symptoms can overlap with thyroid problems, stress, metabolic issues, sleep disorders, and other conditions Why your medical history can matter just as much as a hormone panel The truth about supplements marketed to "balance your hormones" Why a supplement can be useful without every claim made about it being true The difference between educating women about their bodies and convincing women that every symptom means something is hormonally wrong How social media algorithms can reward certainty and sensational claims when good medicine often requires nuance Dr. Tassone isn't arguing that women should stop asking questions about their hormones or that conventional medicine always gets women's health right. Quite the opposite. Women deserve better information, better conversations, and clinicians willing to investigate symptoms instead of dismissing them. But replacing medical dismissal with social-media self-diagnosis isn't the answer either. Your symptoms are real. The diagnosis still matters. If you've ever wondered whether you really have a hormone imbalance, whether cortisol is behind your symptoms, whether you should be taking another "hormone balancing" supplement, or whether TikTok has convinced you that you have three different endocrine disorders, this episode is for you. The brilliant Wajahat Ali, author of Go Back to Where You Came From, and playwright of The Domestic Crusaders, had me on The LeftHook to share my new book A Reasonable Guide for Unreasonable Women: 20 Steps to Find Your Purpose and Power in a World on Fire. Watch or listen to the full discussion on how to overcome the very real and urgent threat of fascism. (Side note: In France, Marine Le Pen is campaigning for president wearing an ankle monitor, following in the footsteps of her fellow Russian asset, the convicted felon/Epstein wing-man). Trump is doing to our country what he did to the East Wing of our White House. How do we rebuild from the wreckage? That's what A Reasonable Guide for Unreasonable Women is about. It's for anyone tired of Steve Bannon trying to demoralize us and flood the zone with sh*t. It's about concrete steps to stay grounded and focused in a world of chaos, to align your deepest needs and dreams with a higher purpose, creating world domination for the collective good. My own journey begins with being raised on stories of the government trying to kill you, and blame you for the crime, helped by Western corruption to cover-up the torture and murder. I am of course speaking of my Ukrainian heritage and the Holodomor, Stalin's genocide famine in Ukraine. In all my years of studying my family's history and the two monsters, Hitler and Stalin, who drove that history, I look back on America's own, and see the authoritarianism that established this country. The white supremacy blood lust terrorizing Black Americans, Native Americans, mass discrimination and violence against immigrants, and the list goes on. Trump, Stephen Miller, Peter Thiel, and too many others carry on that violent legacy. That's why they're aligned with the Kremlin, which sees Ukrainians as inferior.  In Ukrainian culture, we're taught to fight for our very lives, our voice, our art, our culture, our language, because no one else will. They want to erase us, so we must do the opposite and shine, shine, shine. In Ukrainian culture, art is literally survival. The coded language of poetry preserves historical truth, our shared humanity, our courage and defiance.  Life is incredibly stubborn. Creativity is how we fortify our resilience. A Reasonable Guide for Unreasonable Women provides 20 concrete steps for women–who are the favorite target of fascists, because they fear the fight in us–and their allies–to dream big for themselves and the kind of world we want to live in. That is how we reset the culture, overcome their darkness with our light, and gather our people to create a better world. We are the alternative to their dystopian vision for our future, a future that belongs to us.  To better get to new my new and most personal book, I put together this Q&A:  Empowerment can be a privilege. Many nonwhite women, especially immigrants, are juggling several jobs just to survive. How does this book make space for different lived experiences A Reasonable Guide for Unreasonable Women is based on my own lived experience of being raised in a Ukrainian immigrant family. My grandmothers both worked as maids to survive. So I take nothing for granted when it comes to the diversity of demands on women today. Throughout the book, I share wisdom and insights from women across history. There's also a recommended reading guide in the book, featuring an incredible list of women authors, like Mikki Kendall and trans activist Raquel Willis. I also share a troubling story about a Black mentor telling me to get a white man to join me for my pitch meetings and just sit there. I'm sad to say it did make a difference.  Planting seeds of hope and change – whether that's through launching a dream project like a film, book, business, non-profit, or some other ambitious goal – can be a grind. Does this book highlight organizations on the frontlines doing that unglamorous work in the shadows, helping us build that collective power?  Yes, absolutely! And I made sure that the blurbs (endorsements) featured at the front of the book included voices from grassroots groups, to promote their efforts to a wider audience. Julie Delaurier of Rise and Resist began as an organizer in ACT UP and helped organize Tesla Takedown and No Kings. She also organizes to track and resist ICE raids in NYC. She read the book and provided a heartfelt endorsement. So did civil rights leader Maya Wiley, President of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, and Holley Atkinson of the grassroots group the Media and Democracy Project bringing legal challenges to the existence of Fox News. Isn't self-help ego-driven?  A Reasonable Guide is all about collective action. Individual choices produce collective action. Think of A Reasonable Guide for Unreasonable Women as Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way meets Timothy Snyder's On Tyranny. Self-knowledge isn't the end goal here; it's the foundation for knowing where you can make an impact. It cites women across movements and their advice on how to stay creative and build power in a time of mass destruction.  But isn't this focus on the self just new age nonsense which is a slippery slope to fascism, given reports of new age online movements being breeding grounds for fascist cult recruitment? This book follows an ancient tradition of taking on an empire with the power of ideas. Ideas cannot be killed. And you cannot stop an idea whose time has come.  Know thyself was popularized by the ancient Greeks, most famously by Socrates who was a champion of women for that time. The Greeks were conquered by the sadistic and corrupt Roman Empire. A couple hundred years later, the Greeks conquered them right back through the power of self-knowledge and ideas. Greek became the dominant language of the Roman Empire. Self-knowledge is not ego. The book walks you through steps to think creatively and conquer doubt in order to build meaningful collective action.  I had to produce my film Mr. Jones myself because no one wanted it. Mr. Jones was a film to bring historical justice and truth to a massive genocide by the Kremlin, covered up for generations, including with the help of Western corruption. A former Ambassador to Ukraine called Mr. Jones Ukraine's Schindler's List. A screening was shut down in Moscow, and Memorial, Russia's once largest NGO that dared to screen it, was liquidated. There were death threats and harassment during the making of the film, but still the team and I fought on, holding on to the power of our creativity and voices. That is what A Reasonable Guide for Unreasonable Women is about: remembering the power of your voice in a world that wants to silence you and kill you. It's also a damn good time.  I hope you will consider checking it out and pre-ordering A Reasonable Guide for Unreasonable Women, which helps build buzz in the industry and gets the word out. Thank you to everyone who has supported my work over the years. It means so much.

Can't lift heavy loads but still want the benefits of heavy lifting? Blood flow restriction (BFR) training—using cuffs to partially restrict venous blood flow so you can get heavy‑lifting‑like gains with much lighter loads—could be just what you need, says this week's guest, veteran strength coach Ashley Selman, CSCS. In this episode, we dig into what BFR training is, how it's done in real‑world workouts, who it's for, and why it can be a powerful option for midlife athletes who can't tolerate traditional heavy lifting but still want to build and maintain muscle, strength, bone health, and even VO₂ max.Ashley Selman, MA, CSCS, is a veteran strength coach with 30+ years' experience working with elite athletes, collegiate programs at Stanford and the University of Oregon, and clients at every level. She was named one of the Top 100 Trainers in the U.S. by Men's Journal and founded Evolution Trainers in Mountain View, California, voted the number one health club in Silicon Valley. After a difficult hip replacement and early menopause at 43 left her losing muscle despite “doing everything right,” discovering blood flow restriction (BFR) training allowed her to rapidly regain strength she hadn't felt in over 15 years, which inspired her to create Seli Strength, a virtual BFR program now serving hundreds of midlife women. She recently developed "Coaching Blood Flow Restriction Training: The Future of Fitness" with the American Council on Exercise (ACE), for fitness professionals who want to bring BFR training to their clients. On December 20th, 2022, a doctor at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence looked at Lindsay Clancy's medication list and decided she was too medicated to safely enter their postpartum program. That doctor picked up a phone and called the nurse practitioner prescribing them. Nobody answered. Nobody called back. Thirty-five days later her three children were dead.Today that nurse practitioner testified, and Kevin Reddington read her the note.Day 11 in Plymouth Superior Court, on what happened to be Lindsay Clancy's 36th birthday. Julie Paul retook the stand and got a one-minute cross that was more devastating than any of the grillings that came before it. Rebecca Jollotta, the psychiatric nurse practitioner who inherited Clancy's care in November 2022, spent nearly the entire day answering for a treatment record she only ever saw a fraction of. And before the jury walked in, Judge William Sullivan heard argument on whether a former McLean Hospital social worker who posted about the trial on TikTok can testify about holiday staffing on a psychiatric unit.I go through the MyChart messages Clancy sent her provider in December, in her own words, in real time. I go through the bipolar question and the 5K that nobody knew about. And I get into the detail nobody else is covering: Jollotta could not get her patient's psychiatrist notes, could not get the McLean records, and did not know about fourteen psychiatric appointments, but she could pull every controlled substance Clancy had ever been dispensed in Massachusetts in about ninety seconds. We built one interoperable health database in this country. We built the one that watches you. Also in here: why blaming HIPAA for this is a myth, with the actual regulation cited. Why there are five inpatient perinatal psychiatric programs in the entire United States and forty-five states have none. And why every provider on that witness stand is also a defendant in a civil suit over the same care.***This episode is not editedBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/we-saw-the-devil-unfiltered-political-analysis--4433638/support.Website: http://www.wesawthedevil.comPatreon: http://www.patreon.com/wesawthedevilRobin's Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/robin_wstdTwitter: http://www.twitter.com/WeSawtheDevilInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/wesawthedevilpodcast.TikTok: tiktok.com/@wesawthedevilpolitics

It's archetypal energy, the Shakti current within all of us. In this clip, I explore Shiva and Shakti, the light and dark feminine, and why both matter. I'll also look at how feminine energy becomes blocked, through over-control, disconnection from desire, difficulty receiving, and lack of boundaries. Inside this episode, I explore:

The Democrat Party is not in crisis. It’s not fighting a civil war. It’s becoming exactly what it has spent years telling us it is: a big tent where socialism isn’t the fringe anymore. It’s the future. Socialist candidates are no longer insurgents trying to overthrow the Democrat establishment. Elected Democrats are embracing them. The radicals didn’t hijack the party. The party welcomed them in, handed them a microphone and called them mainstream. And Democrats have another massive problem: 2028. When Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are your front-runners for president, you stand no chance of winning. This is the Democrat bench. Four candidates carrying the same failed ideology that has driven the party further and further left. I’ll explain why each one could be a disaster at the ballot box. And if you want to see where this ideology leads, look no further than the WNBA. The league is creating a committee to wrestle with one of the most basic questions imaginable: what is a woman? The Women’s National Basketball Association needs help defining “woman.” You cannot make this up. On today’s Stinchfield, the socialist transformation of the Democrat Party is no longer coming. It’s here. And the insanity spreading through our institutions is what happens when common sense becomes controversial. The research found that low arginine levels were linked to reduced production of MHC-1, a protein that displays abnormal cellular signals to T cells, according to the report. In mouse models, arginine-rich diets were associated with fewer colon tumors and milder influenza and SARS-CoV-2 infections, the researchers reported. The findings add to prior work linking declining immune function to cancer progression. When arginine is scarce, cells struggle to produce MHC-1 proteins, which appear on the surfaces of cells throughout the body and display foreign or abnormal proteins to T cells. Researchers repeated the dietary studies using mouse models of influenza and SARS-CoV-2, conditions previously associated with unusual levels of different amino acids. One of the most dramatic patterns to emerge was that arginine was the most depleted amino acid in all of these diseases. Not only did mice with an arginine-rich diet have milder symptoms from viral infections, giving the mice arginine after influenza infection improved their outcomes too. Yeast food supplement helps immune cells fight cancer more effectively Trinity College Dublin & University College Dublin, July 9 2026 Researchers from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and University College Dublin (UCD) have shown for the first time that a food supplement made from yeast helps the body to make stronger immune cells that can fight cancer. The research teams found that adding a yeast-based supplement to the food of obese laboratory mice changes how their immune cells grow and help to make better cancer‑fighting cells. Mice were fed a standard or high fat diet supplemented with yeast beta-glucan for 4-12 weeks and then their immune system was challenged by different types of cancer cells (colorectal, skin and breast cancer). The study also tested whether yeast supplementation could overcome immune dysfunction caused by obesity and whether protective effects persist after weight loss. Crucially, this dietary intervention restores anti-tumor innate immunity in obese mice and reverses long-term immune memory defects that persist even after weight loss, a major unmet clinical challenge. Physical activity linked to lower stroke and death risk in adults with atrial fibrillation Arctic University of Norway, August 5 2026 (News-Medical) Being physically active was linked to a lower risk of stroke and death for adults with atrial fibrillation, or AFib, according to new, independent research published in the Journal of the American Heart Association. AFib is a quivering or irregular heartbeat that occurs in the heart's upper chamber known as the atria. According to the American Heart Association, it can lead to blood clots, stroke and other heart-related conditions. The prevalence of AFib in the U.S. was estimated at 4.48% of the adult U.S. population. The study tracked more than 87,000 adults in Norway for about 15 years, capturing information about AFib, stroke and death from national health registries. What did the analysis find? Compared to adults who were inactive, adults with a low, moderate or high level of physical activity had a 9%, 19% and 18% lower risk of stroke, respectively. Having a low, moderate or high level of physical activity was associated with an 11%, 18% and 22% lower risk of death from any cause, respectively. For people with AFib, staying active was tied to living an average of 0.5 to 1.2 years longer compared to those who were inactive Phthalates may contribute to high blood pressure in pregnant women Harvard School of Public Health, August 10 2026 (News-Medical) Phthalates, which are chemicals found in plastics, personal care products and hundreds of other consumer goods, may contribute to high blood pressure in pregnant women, according to a study published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society. The researchers measured phthalate exposure and blood pressure in 338 pregnant women at three points during pregnancy. They analyzed whether higher levels of these chemicals-individually and in combination-were linked to higher blood pressure or an increased risk of pregnancy-related high blood pressure disorders. The authors found that pregnant women with higher urine concentrations of fragrance-associated phthalates and those in personal care products had higher systolic and diastolic blood pressure markers of an increased risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. About 13% of participants in the study developed a pregnancy-related high blood pressure disorder. Women with higher levels of certain phthalates, especially those found in personal care products, tended to have higher blood pressure later in pregnancy. Daily Collagen Supplement Alters Bone-Related Blood Markers in Female Runners, Study Says Fitchburg State University, University of Connecticut & Mayo Clinic, August 4 2026 (Natural News) A four-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial found that female distance runners who took 20 grams of collagen peptides per day showed an approximately 5.1 percent rise in P1NP over four weeks, a blood marker of bone formation, while the placebo group showed no such change, according to a study published in Frontiers in Nutrition. The collagen group also showed a drop in IL-6, an inflammatory protein linked to bone breakdown, while placebo levels held steady or rose, the study reported. The trial included 22 female runners ages 18 to 35 who ran at least 35 miles per week, and no adverse effects were reported. Collagen is the most common and abundant protein in the body, accounting for about 30 percent of total protein content and providing structural support to bones, tendons, ligaments, and other connective tissues, according to published research.       Discussion about this episode

The murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023, moved through two consequential witnesses today. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and is mounting an insanity defense built around severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication, led by attorney Kevin Reddington.First up: Trooper Dan Lawlor, who was providing security at the hospital. On cross-examination, he testified he saw a doctor go in to consult with Clancy, and later found out that doctor had handed her his own phone to call her husband, Patrick. Lawlor also testified that he and the lead investigator discussed the possibility that a psychiatrist coached Clancy to say she was hearing voices. On re-direct, he said a separate conversation with another trooper didn't shift his testimony.Next, Latisha Dukes, a counselor and psychologist at South Shore Hospital, testified she began treating Clancy in late November 2022 for depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and a stated wish not to be here anymore. Dukes also said Clancy had sought help at Women's and Infants Hospital before the killings and was turned away for lacking a "plan."Prosecutors are expected to argue Clancy understood the nature of her actions despite the defense's claims. Clancy allegedly attempted suicide after the killings and is now paralyzed from the waist down. Patrick Clancy has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court and is expected to run several weeks.Links:Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? True Crime Today digs into the Lindsay Clancy civil lawsuit and the reason her ex-husband is suing her providers instead of her. According to the complaint filed in Norfolk Superior Court, the people treating Lindsay's postpartum mental illness misprescribed a bevy of powerful medications and stacked new drugs onto old ones without any connecting plan. The civil filings count nine psychiatric medications in her final months, eight of them inside a single three-week stretch, while her criminal defense team counts 13. The suits say Lindsay repeatedly told her providers the medications were causing her worsening symptoms. She went to emergency rooms, called crisis lines, and admitted herself to hospitals. The basic lab work that would have shown how her body was processing the drugs was never done, the filings claim. Lindsay's own separate malpractice suit goes further, naming 11 defendants including McLean Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital. It describes a program staffed by a skeleton crew over a holiday, and it discloses a bipolar diagnosis made after the killings by a Columbia University psychiatrist. Tony breaks down both filings, the difference between what a civil jury and a criminal jury must find, and the collision coming when one verdict arrives before the other. The providers' employers have responded with statements, not specifics, and nothing in either lawsuit has been proven. Lindsay Clancy is presumed innocent in her criminal case, where prosecutors allege the killings were planned and her illness has been overstated. The reason Patrick Clancy went to civil court is written across every page of his complaint, and it points at the same system his ex-wife's defense is blaming at trial. Read the trial through the lawsuit and the whole picture sharpens.END LINKSJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? By mid-December 2022, Lindsay Clancy's psychiatric nurse practitioner had exhausted her outpatient tools. Rebecca Jollotta had spent weeks adjusting medications while Clancy messaged her constantly about worsening symptoms, intrusive thoughts, and sleeplessness she could not shake.Clancy faces three first-degree murder charges in the deaths of her children at the family's Duxbury home on January 24, 2023. She has admitted to the killings. Her attorneys argue postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder left her unable to distinguish right from wrong. Prosecutors contend she planned the deaths and carried them out with intent. On December 12, Jollotta recommended partial hospitalization. Three days later the couple called to report Clancy's worst day and persistent thoughts of ending her life. Jollotta told them to seek evaluation at Massachusetts General Hospital. They chose Women & Infants Hospital in Providence instead, a postpartum-specific program. Jollotta anticipated a two-week admission. Clancy spent one day. Reddington asked on cross-examination whether the facility turned her away because staff believed she had been overmedicated.Jollotta was the sole provider who had raised a bipolar possibility, telling Clancy and her husband Patrick at a December 6 appointment that the medication reactions concerned her. Patrick dismissed the diagnosis. Jollotta never consulted Dr. Jennifer Tufts, who was prescribing to Clancy simultaneously. On redirect, prosecutor Jennifer Sprague asked whether Jollotta ever believed Clancy was experiencing postpartum psychosis. Jollotta answered that she did not.Listen Anywhere You Get Podcasts: https://pod.link/1655749292Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? One program in the treatment timeline was designed specifically for postpartum patients. Women & Infants Hospital in Providence ran a partial hospitalization track for mothers dealing with mood disorders after childbirth. Lindsay Clancy's nurse practitioner sent her there in mid-December 2022 on an urgent basis. The Commonwealth alleges Clancy murdered her three children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, at the family's Duxbury home on January 24, 2023. She has acknowledged killing them. Her defense asserts she was in a psychotic state driven by postpartum illness. The prosecution argues she acted rationally and with planning.Jollotta anticipated Clancy would remain in the program for two weeks. According to testimony at Plymouth Superior Court, she stayed for a single day. Reddington pressed Jollotta on whether staff declined to admit Clancy over concerns about overmedication.Jollotta testified she was troubled by the early departure and told Clancy in a message that group therapy and additional support could help. She was reluctant to taper Seroquel because it had been easing Clancy's depression and sleep. Before leaving for vacation, Jollotta left a written taper plan on December 21.Reddington produced hospital records suggesting Women & Infants attempted to reach Jollotta and received no answer. She denied receiving any call. Jollotta acknowledged she never communicated with Dr. Jennifer Tufts, the psychiatrist managing Clancy's medications at the same time. The prosecution closed by asking whether Jollotta ever suspected postpartum psychosis. She testified she had not.Listen Anywhere You Get Podcasts: https://pod.link/1655749292Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Mark Levin Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 11, 2026 110:27

On Monday's Mark Levin Show, political correctness is running amok in the WNBA. There are two issues facing the WNBA: transgender athletes and racism. A small fraction of athletes - transgenders - are threatening to destroy opportunities for biological women and girls. This is not a civil rights issue. Women have fought for 50 years for equality in sports. That doesn't mean men and women are the same. It means women and girls have the opportunity to flourish in athletics. It's time to make a decision: will a relatively handful of individuals destroy the purpose of a women's sports league? Or will the overwhelmingly biological female athletes compete on a level playing field. The WNBA is a business and the hierarchy and players should treat it as such. The only color that should matter is the color of money: green. Whether it's the men's NBA or the WNBA, people want to see the best athletes, regardless of color. Then, President Trump called out the democratic socialist and jihadist candidates for their radicalism and craziness. They want to eliminate the Senate, Supreme Court, police, military, etc. No other president would talk this way. Also, AOC says she has frozen her eggs. Why the need to announce it? Some things you keep private. She also talked about Francesca Hong, a far-left DSA running for governor of Wisconsin. AOC hedged her bet, saying all politics are local, woke one was crazy she says, and we have to assess what a candidate is saying now. AOC and other leading Democrats aren't endorsing Hong because they think she won't win and want to keep losses to a minimum. As far as Abdul El-Sayed, she's excited, saying it's a time of renewal for the Democratic party. Then, Bernie Sanders knows Hong can't win in Wisconsin. He was asked why he doesn't endorse her if her positions line up with his and he fell back on the old, tired trope: tax the rich.  El-Sayed says he differs with Bernie on capitalism, saying we live under "corporatism." El-Sayed is a jihadist, an Islamist, and a bald-faced liar. Finally, in defense of AIPAC: El-Sayed complained they plan to spend $3.8 million against him next week. The Dems are making AIPAC - and Israel - the defining issues of the midterm elections. El-Sayed says the money the U.S. sends to Israel should be spent here on healthcare, etc. Facts: the U.S. spent $7 Trillion last year. Israel received $3.8 billion...in other words, five one-hundredths of 1% of total federal spending. In return, the U.S. gets an indispensable ally. AIPAC is an American organization serving American interests. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
