Every culture claims among its earliest stories, the tale of a great flood that wipes out humanity. The tale of a great flood seems to have first been written down in the Epic of Gilgamesh. As is the case with myths and legends, when multiple cultures share stories, it lends credence to the idea that there is truth to the tale. Such is the case with Noah's Flood and the ark he built to survive that cataclysm. There are scholars who believe that this was not the original story. Whether this story were the original or not, the key take away is that everything on the face of Earth was destroyed by water, save for the people and animals aboard this large vessel. Why did Yahweh decide to destroy everything he created? Was it to destroy the Nephilim and were they able to re-establish themselves. A MIRACULOUS healing led to a Syrian warrior carrying mule loads of dirt from Israel back to Damascus. Why did Naaman the Syrian do that? In the ancient world, it was understood that every nation had a patron deity. For Syria, that was the storm-god Hadad, better known to us as Baal. For Israel, it was Yahweh—although Jezebel and her children tried hard to replace the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob with Baal, Astarte, and the rest of the Canaanite pantheon. When the prophet Elisha instructed Naaman to wash in the Jordan to be healed of his leprosy, Naaman was angry, expecting something more elaborate—a ritual of some kind. But after following the prophet's instructions and being restored to full health, Naaman realized the true God was Yahweh, not Baal, and Israel was His home. So, Naaman loaded two mules with dirt and carried it back to Syria—not because it held magical properties, but because it was a reminder of the one God with the power to heal. The concept of “holy ground” was established after the Tower of Babel, as described in Deuteronomy 32: When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.But the LORD's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage. (Deut. 32:8–9, ESV) In other words, God allotted the people of Earth to angelic representatives who were tempted into receiving worship themselves, but He chose Israel as the conduit through which He would bring forth the Messiah to save the world from those fallen entities. We also discuss the way God delivered the northern kingdom of Israel from a prolonged siege of Samaria by the Syrians—despite the continued apostasy of Samaria. The 365 Days of Astronomy, the daily podcast of the International Year of Astronomy 2009
Dr. Al Grauer hosts. Dr. Albert D. Grauer ( @Nmcanopus ) is an observational asteroid hunting astronomer. Dr. Grauer retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2006. travelersinthenight.org From April 2025. Today's 2 topics: - In 2013 a 56 foot diameter space rock exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia releasing the energy of 450 kilotons of TNT and filled local hospitals with some of the 1,500 people who were injured. Fortunately no one died. In 1908 a 200 ft diameter meteor exploded over a largely unpopulated region at Tunguska, Siberia knocking down trees over a 750 square mile area. If it had hit over a populated area it could have caused a million casualties. - Asteroid hunters have become aware of the many small space rocks which come near Earth because of improvements made to telescopes, cameras, and computer analysis software. Recently, my Catalina Sky Survey teammate Rose Matheny used her skills and a new camera to discover the second small space rock in 32 days which came between the communications satellites and the Earth's surface. Worldbuilding. It's one of the most talked about aspects of running TTRPGs, as it is the sandbox into which you will throw your party to adventure in. We've talked about tips and tricks in past episodes and articles, and have come down on both sides of the debate surrounding how much to do with a focus totally on your specific table and party. However, in this episode, Tony, Chris, and Dave have decided to become a bit more involved with a new experiment that we cooked up.Something that has never been done on 3WD before – we're going to start building a new world live! In real time, we begin asking the questions that will shape our new creation. As this is a show by DMs for DMs, we're adding another aspect. YOU! What would really happen if we made contact with alien life? How would our lives change? Would we even still BE alive? And most importantly… what would happen to the stock market? Dr. Avi Loeb joined host Mike Rogers on "Something Offbeat" to discuss what's different about the 3I ATLAS comet currently making its way through our solar system, and the implications it could have for us here on Earth.
It’s time for another mind-bending adventure on the Fun Kids Science Weekly! In this episode, we answer YOUR questions, discover why laughter is contagious, and dive into the strange world of quantum tunnelling. First up in Science in the News, unusual rocks discovered on Mars could be evidence that life once existed on the Red Planet, scientists have developed a superfood to keep honey bees buzzing, and Jeremy Lockwood from the Natural History Museum joins us to reveal a brand-new dinosaur discovered on the Isle of Wight. Betsy wants to know how long it would take to walk to the Moon, and comedian and neuroscientist Dean Burnett explains why everything seems funnier when we’re surrounded by people who are laughing. In Dangerous Dan, we uncover the terrifying power of fluoroantimonic acid — one of the most dangerous substances on Earth. And in Battle of the Sciences, we explore quantum physics, discovering the bizarre phenomenon of quantum tunnelling, where particles slip through barriers that should be impossible, and learning how this strange science powers our modern world. What do we learn about?· The unusual Martian rocks that could show life once existed· A superfood designed to protect honey bees· A brand-new dinosaur discovered on the Isle of Wight· Why laughter is contagious· The terrifying fluoroantimonic acid· And in Battle of the Sciences… the mystery of quantum tunnelling All on this week’s episode of Science Weekly!Join Fun Kids Podcasts+: https://funkidslive.com/plusSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The 365 Days of Astronomy, the daily podcast of the International Year of Astronomy 2009
Since their first detection, powerful bursts of X-rays from distant galaxies, known as fast X-ray transients (FXTs), have mystified astronomers. FXTs have historically been elusive events, occurring at vast distances away from Earth and only lasting seconds to hours. Einstein Probe (EP), launched in 2024, is dedicated to observing transient events in the X-ray and is changing the game for astronomers looking to understand the origin of these exotic events. In this podcast, Dr. Robert Eyles-Ferris discusses a recent FXT and what it reveals about the deaths of massive stars. Bios: - Rob Sparks is in the Communications, Education and Engagement group at NSF's NOIRLab in Tucson, Arizona. - Dr. Rob Eyles-Ferris is a research associate at the University of Leicester who works on high energy transients to understand the largest explosions in the universe. His particular research interests include tidal disruption events, fast X-ray transients and gamma-ray bursts. IN PLAIN SIGHT: A Memoir Infused with Military Psychological Operations"What if Mars' nuclear ghosts are screaming a warning—and Earth isn't listening?"Jonathan Mark Haber's life has been a collision with hidden truths. Born in 1950s Brooklyn, he came of age as the assassinations of JFK, MLK, and RFK shattered America's illusions—igniting his lifelong mission to dissect power. From draft resistance to founding Flyby News, Haber exposes how governments weaponize perception to bury inconvenient truths. Then came the revelation that rewrote history.Bart Jordan—a Manhattan Project physicist and NASA insider—revealed a nuclear detonation in Mars' Cydonia region, home to the infamous "Face" and "Signature Site 10" monuments. NASA data confirmed it: Martian atmospheric Xenon-129 isotopes—at twice the concentration of Earth's post-nuclear tests—proved a planet-wide apocalypse. But the deeper shock? The monuments' geometry encoded a warning: the distances of Mars' moons (Phobos and Deimos—"fear" and "terror") formed a temple-like formula, a cosmic plea against the abuse of light. This wasn't just science. It was a survival manual from a lost civilization.Interwoven with Haber's battles against chronic pain, kidney failure, and systemic deception, In Plain Sight bridges memoir and manifesto. It exposes:The PSYOP playbook (Apollo's illusions, 9/11's unanswered questions, COVID-19's psy-warfare).Elites repeating Mars' fatal mistakes—ignoring the *Xenon-129* red flag.UAPs and nuclear sites: Evidence that something—ancient AI or interstellar guardians—is forcing humanity to confront its self-destruction.In Plain Sight is more than a memoir—it's a manual for awakening. Because truth is the first casualty of war, and the first step toward peace. The choice is ours.https://amzn.to/4mi9lAzBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.
Grassy biomes, including grasslands, savannahs and crops, cover over 40% of all land on Earth. They play a significant role in carbon and silica cycles and have a large impact upon the climate. Grasslands (grass-dominated ecosystems) have shaped the evolution of numerous groups of organisms, most obviously grazing mammals, and can support a huge amount of biodiversity. Humans evolved in the savannas and through domestication of grasses formed agriculture, leading to a modern diet dominated by grasses such as oats, rice, wheat and corn. As anthropogenic climate change threatens large scale uncertainty, it's vital that we understand the controls that govern the success of this fundamentally important group. It is only by studying the evolutionary history of grasses that we might be able to predict how they will fare in future. Joining us in this episode to speak about the challenges of piecing together the evolutionary history of grasses from a relatively poor fossil record is Prof. Caroline Strömberg of the University of Washington.

The whole episode's "thesis" is about meeting a new friend and breaking through that second layer of getting to know them better. A perfect way to set up a few different dynamic pairs, only for MPK to return next week and make an entire episode about Che and Miranda making farm animal noises in Carrie's kitchen. In this episode, Charlotte and Harry attend a part at LTW's house and are nervous about the lack of diversiy in their own friend groups, Miranda and Naya get deep about the benefits and sacrifices that come with having children, and Carrie meets Seema, instantly offends her, and then yells at her for accidentally breaking a stupid picture frame. Angela Foster brings practical tips and wisdom to our understanding of the spirits of earth, water, air and fire from Chapter 1 & 2 of Nature Spirits by Rudolf Steiner. She invites us to be active in our striving for perception of these beings, while at the same time asking us to slow down and take a moment to be still and perceive the spiritual realm right beyond the physically perceptible world we live in. Her down to earth advice and deep understanding of Steiner's worldview brings us closer to understanding these elemental beings and their relationships with each other and human beings. Angela and I know that in our time, we can't do this work alone. Thanks for joining us and tuning in! A video shown on Capitol Hill on September 9 reportedly shows an American hellfire missile attacking and simply bouncing off a UAP (the military term for a UFO). When videos like this come out, speculation about aliens often follows. But our obsession with aliens isn't new—and it didn't begin with 1950s alien invasion movies like “The Day The Earth Stood Still,” or even with Orson Welles' “War of the Worlds” mock news bulletins of the 1930s.As science reporter Becky Ferreira writes in her upcoming book, First Contact: The Story Of Our Obsession With Aliens, humans have been fascinated with the potential for alien life for about as long we've been around. She joins Host Ira Flatow to discuss how our views of beings from other worlds changed throughout the millennia, and where we're at now with scientific exploration of life beyond Earth.Plus, science journalist Umair Irfan joins Ira to share other stories from the week in science, including what's going on in a decision-making brain, the trouble with vector-borne illnesses, and the unusual tale of an ant queen that breeds ants of another species.Read an excerpt of First Contact: The Story Of Our Obsession With Aliens.Guests:Becky Ferreira is a science reporter at 404 Media and author of First Contact: The Story Of Our Obsession With Aliens.Umair Irfan is a senior correspondent at Vox, based in Washington, D.C.Transcripts for each episode are available within 1-3 days at sciencefriday.com. In 1977, NASA took advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime alignment of the planets to send two probes to the outermost reaches of the solar system. They sent back the best images and data yet available about Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The program was a smashing success. However, the probes didn't stop traveling. They kept going and going, all the while maintaining contact with Earth. They ended up teaching us far more about the Solar System than we ever expected. This week on Thumb War, Jason & Rachel dive into Alien: Earth Episode 6, “The Fly.” From Joe's patronizing dialogue to Wendy's unsettling xeno-conversations, we unpack whether this mid-season episode holds up—or tanks the momentum. We also detour into plenty of entertainment news: the Degrassi TIFF doc, Alan Ritchson & Shailene Woodley's Motor City, Sydney Sweeney's boxing drama Christie, Emmy buzz for Survivor, and Andrew Santino's Disney-edited comedy special.
The Trump Administration is putting offshore wind energy on hold by canceling grants, cutting tax credits and revoking permits for projects that are nearly complete. We discuss the economic impacts to port communities and the view that the US is ceding the opportunity to be a global leader in renewable energy. Also, with the Arctic warming four times as fast as the rest of the globe, and fires now routinely burning large swaths of northern forests, carbon stored in permafrost is rapidly escaping into the atmosphere where it can warm the planet even faster. How Indigenous cultural practices can help protect this vital resource. And human-made noise is bad for our health, disrupts our natural world, and hinders our ability to connect with one another. The book Clamor: How Noise Took Over the World and How We Can Take It Back explores the hidden costs of unwanted sound and advocates for turning down the volume on human-made noise. --- You can help support our free public radio show and podcast, for free, by leaving a review on Apple Podcasts. Win/win!In this episode of SpaceTime, we explore fascinating insights into the origins of Earth's water, the launch of Israel's advanced spy satellite, and the development of a groundbreaking high-energy rocket fuel.About Earth's Water OriginsRecent findings suggest that the water in Comet 12P Pons-Brooks shares the same isotopic signature as Earth's oceans, bolstering the hypothesis that comets played a vital role in delivering water and essential ingredients for life to our planet. Observations from the Atacama Large Millimetre/Submillimeter Array telescope reveal that the deuterium to hydrogen ratio in the comet's water is remarkably similar to that found in Earth's oceans, providing compelling evidence that some Halley-type comets may have contributed to making Earth habitable.Israel's New Spy Satellite LaunchIsrael has successfully launched its Ofek 19 surveillance satellite to monitor terrorist activities across the Middle East. The satellite, equipped with advanced optical and radar systems, is designed to provide high-resolution imagery under various conditions. This launch comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, as Israel seeks to enhance its intelligence capabilities in response to recent attacks.Revolutionary High-Energy Rocket FuelScientists have synthesised a new high-energy compound, manganese diboride, which could revolutionise rocket fuel efficiency. This innovative fuel is over 20% more energetic by weight and 150% more energetic by volume than traditional aluminium-based fuels. The safety and efficiency of manganese diboride may significantly enhance payload capacities for space missions, paving the way for more ambitious exploration efforts.www.spacetimewithstuartgary.com✍️ Episode ReferencesNature Astronomyhttps://www.nature.com/nature-astronomy/Journal of the American Chemical Societyhttps://pubs.acs.org/journal/jacsatBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spacetime-space-astronomy--2458531/support.Nigel About Earth's Water OriginsIsrael's New Spy Satellite LaunchRevolutionary High-Energy Rocket Fuel
An episode from The Holistic Navigator. This is not to diagnosis or treat any disease/illness. Consult your physician before taking supplements or medications OR before you stop taking medications. This is for entertainment/informational purposes only! Wireless devices and networks are everywhere. More and more of the items we use are being liberated from cords and are easier to access than ever. Sadly, there's a price to pay for all this convenience in the form of electromagnetic forces. We probably don't consider the implications of exposing ourselves to these forces every day, but it's high time we began. Dr. Jerod Bergman, DC of Hedron Life Source. Dr. Bergman is a chiropractor in Wisconsin and developed EMF protecting products after considering the implications of EMF on athletic performance and the health of his newborn son. Ed and Dr. Bergman chat about the growing danger of EMF and how exactly it can affect your health, and easy steps to help protect yourself without getting rid of all your wireless devices. Topics: How did Dr. Bergman come up with the Hedron EMF devices?(6:52) We're surrounded by electromagnetic smog. What does that mean? (9:58) How do the products work? (15:19) The directions on the products say to place them on the ground every few days. What does that do? (23:40) How should we approach these devices with young children? (30:27) Key takeaways: Humans are electromagnetic in nature and we need to understand how this relationship works. We are 99.9999% energy. (8:42) We are not only flesh and bones. We are run by a fuse box that is connected with the Earth and we have to stay in sync with that. (13:42) It's not necessarily about blocking EMFs, it's about getting the right frequencies back into our bodies. (19:00) Our main electromagnetic generator is our heart and if we can amplify our output to the world by wearing the pendants close to our heart, we get the most benefit. (28:35) Practical tips to reduce EMF in your home. (33:50)
At first glance, there seem to be no similarities between the sci-fi series, Alien Earth (FX/Hulu), and the second season of Peacemaker (HBO). But both are offshoots of existing franchises, shepherded by creators with unique, and often, visceral styles. To date Noah Hawley‘s Alien Earth has proven anything but predictable, while redefining the nature of “Alien” threats. Who knew a sheep could be that creepy. Over in the DC universe, or in at least two of them, James Gunn is actively disproving the idea that the multiverse concept is played out. As he takes his flawed protagonist even further down by showing him the flipside of his own bad life choices. There's also a round of What's in the Box and the usual random topics. Pastor JD warns us today that the lynchpin that will set off the events of the Tribulation is centered around a false peace treaty in Israel. While we pray for an end to all conflicts and wars, true peace will only come when Jesus comes to make a new Heaven and a new Earth, and defeats Satan’s forces for good.
It's time for another Mind Gap Podcast! This week, Doug and Justin answer the question, if aliens landed tomorrow and asked you to show them around Earth, what would you show them first? Doug would immediately take them to his hometown in Missouri, but not for the reason you might think. Justin, on the other hand, is buying them all a round of Malört. The dorks then dive into their main topic of creating the craziest magic systems they can think of. A few of the systems that are pitched include Bureaucracy Bending, Mixology, Nostalgia Nudging, and Carpentarcana. Things are wrapped up with another round of the movie clip guessing game, where Doug plays clips from different movies and Justin does his best to guess which films they're from. Amazingly, nature occasionally sends an interstellar traveler through our solar system for us to observe. The third such object that astronomers have discovered coming into our solar system from truly deep space is 3I/ATLAS. It was discovered as it streaked towards the inner solar system at 130,000 miles per hour by the ATLAS team's 20 inch telescope in Chile and was quickly tracked by telescope around the world.
Frank and Jen break down Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 4, from the wild Michael Rooker cameo to that portable-dimension device that might not be what it seems. They dig into the alternate Earth, what it reveals about Chris, Keith, and Auggie, and why Adebayo might be the real center of the 11th Street Kids. The conversation hits possible DCU ties like Creature Commandos, Mr. Terrific, Blue Beetle, and whether the “boom tube” theory holds water. Plus, a thoughtful look at Harcourt's arc, Argus pressure, and how the show balances crude humor with real character growth. CA Timestamps and Topics 00:00 Welcome and coffee-fueled kickoff 00:24 First impressions of Episode 4 and the “family affair” watch 04:27 The portable dimension and how Auggie really got his tech 05:21 Series shift: Argus pressure, new location, and a relentless hunter 05:55 Michael Rooker goes all-in as an eagle tracker 08:14 “X-rated corner of the DCU” and the opening flashback read 09:49 Keith's role as heart vs. Auggie's shadow 13:16 Is the portal a boom tube or something new 16:29 Creature Commandos, Corto Maltese nods, and DCU connective tissue 19:38 Cameo watch: Mr. Terrific, Frankenstein, the Bride, or Weasel 24:26 Waller's name-drops and why she might show up 26:27 The coded “perfect world” that's not perfect at all 29:18 Adebayo as the team's glue and Chris's reality check 34:20 Harcourt and Rick Flag Sr. show a different side of both 35:58 Age, casting, and why Flag Sr. reads more “father-in-law” than “dad” 39:20 Why peacemaker is the easy scapegoat for a grieving Flag Sr. 40:07 Where this could go: reluctant father figure and hard choices 41:11 Enchantress, Rick romance, and what that means for Harcourt and Chris 42:15 Final cameo predictions and the Blue Beetle/Ted Kord angle 44:44 What if Dave Bautista played Peacemaker 47:44 James Gunn, Michael Rooker, and that dance 48:43 Guest plugs: Distance Nerding shows and Lego giveaway Key Takeaways Episode 4 plants a big flag for the back half of the season by moving the fight to a controllable space and tightening the Argus noose. The portal tech reframes Auggie's “genius” and hints at a broader toolkit that could connect to other DC corners. The alternate Earth isn't aspirational. It puts Chris's growth in focus and undercuts his nostalgia for a world he's better off without. Adebayo is the emotional center and likely leader in practice. She's the person everyone calls, and the one who grounds Chris. Harcourt's conversation with Rick Flag Sr. shows who she was before the walls went up, and why Argus keeps pulling her back. Expect a meaningful cameo tied to portals or Argus operations. Mr. Terrific, Waller, or a Creature Commandos face are all in play. The show keeps mixing crude laughs with character work that lands, which is why the heavier scenes hit. Quotes “Peacemaker is the X-rated corner of the DCU.” — Jen “This episode felt like a gear shift. Argus is coming, and the portal changes the board.” — Frank “Adebayo is the glue. She keeps everyone honest and points them back to reality.” — Frank “They didn't show that flashback for nothing. One choice can change a universe.” — Jen “Rooker only does that scene because Gunn is the one on the other end of the phone.” — Frank Call to Action If you dug this breakdown, subscribe and drop a quick review.
