In a shocking twist of events the Paramount Death Watch is back! We'll discuss Shari Redstone's last-minute decision to kill the Skydance deal and what comes next for the beleaguered home of CBS. Will a new buyer swoop in? Will Warner chief David Zaslav make a move? And what's all this talk from Paramount's three-headed CEO about a possible joint venture with another streamer? Will Paramount+ and Peacock team up for a new Hulu (a Nulu, if you will)?? Then we're dusting off our Jedi robes and heading to Disney+ to discuss the intriguing new Star Wars prequel The Acolyte. There's a lot to love, but also the same frustrations that plague most of Disney's streaming strategy. Can they make these 8-episode “seasons” work? Or are they pulling from the wrong playbook? But wait, there's more! The 2024 Box Office is back, baby! We'll break down the big weekends from Pixar and the Bad Boys. Warner Bros. Discovery is serving up some tennis, but can it fill the Charles Barkley sized hold in sports fans' hearts? Peacock has a new deal just in time for the Olympics, but can NBC convince you to stick around after? And Max is raising prices… to the max! ———

This week, we talked with our friend and long-time guest Michelle Gilbert, VP at Comcast (last time was episode 428, still relevant!) and she's got plenty of news. Comcast launched NOW TV, a streaming service that includes over 40 premium channels, plus Free Ad-Supported TV (FAST), and Peacock Premium. It costs $20/month. We dove into was the $42B infrastructure bill that was recently signed to give high speed broadband access to literally everyone in the country. Michigan will be getting $1.5B of it, which will hopefully help Randy's parents in Mid-Michigan keep up with his on-goings on social media.  The White House announced a $42.5 billion dollar investment package that includes broadband roll-out to previously under-served areas of the country. A new Storm-Ready WiFi product will provide about 4 hours of internet access via the cellular network with a battery backup in case of household power outages. Comcast RISE is a grant program that this year will provide money, technology, education, and publicity to 100 small businesses across Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. We re-visited into my favorite topic, Internet Essentials, which gives people at or below the poverty line high speed access at $10/mo. Please share this with your network as I feel this is a great service to the community.  Lastly, we talked about shows we are watching and how Randy suckered me into subscribing to Paramount+. All in all, it was a great episode and always amazing to catch up with Michelle.

Aaron and Josh Sarnecky are going back to the golden oldies as they talk about The Birds for its 60th anniversary. The Birds is a horror-thriller film written by Evan Hunter and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It is based on the story by Daphne Du Maurier. It opened in theaters on March 28, 1963. The movie follows a San Francisco socialite named Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren), who finds herself besieged by murderous birds in Bodega Bay. Other characters include Melanie's love interest Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor), Mitch's mother Lydia (Jessica Tandy), Mitch's sister Cathy (Veronica Cartwright), and Cathy's teacher Annie Hayworth (Suzanne Pleshette). While the film was a box office success, initial reviews were mixed. Critics today regard it as a seminal horror picture and one of Hitchcock's best works. Aaron and Josh go over the plot, characters, effects, and legacy of the film. They also discuss the possibility of a remake and if there is a filmmaker worthy of the title “the new Hitchcock.” For more classic films, you can listen to Josh and Aaron chat about Bambi and Singin' in the Rain. If "2 Fast 2 Furious" was a disappointing, but still financially successful sequel, "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" was the death rattle of a franchise dying young. Or so that's what so many thought when Justin Lin's high school/fish out of water spin on the series was released in 2006. In what might be the most 2006 movie ever made, Lin transported audiences to Tokyo and subbed out the angelic crazy ass white boy Brian O'Conner for a troubled high school student with a receding hairline and five o'clock shadow. Fifteen years later and "Tokyo Drift" has developed the most sizeable cult following of the franchise and is now seen as the film responsible for not only introducing Lin to the Fast Family, but reinvigorating the entire franchise altogether through a series of happy accidents. We're once again joined by Fast Superfan Logan Kenny to wax nostalgic for the Drift King and the unfortunately named Bow Wow character, Twink. "Tokyo Drift" is streaming now on Peacock and Peacock Premium.

A special welcome to those of you listening on OccupyProWrestling.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. Results from Monday night's Raw and Ring Of Honor's weekend TV are straight ahead in this update but first… (STINGER: WWE) We're learning more about the WWE Network's jump to Peacock in the United States. In a news release Monday, we learned there will NOT be an automatic migration for existing network subscribers. They'll need to sign up for Peacock Premium on their own. Peacock is running a special offer for the next month - FOUR months of Peacock Premium access for $9.99. If you have Comcast or Cox cable, you may already get Peacock Premium for free. WWE's Peacock Era begins March 18th. There will be an “overlap” period. On Monday, we learned that'll last a little over two weeks - ending on April 4th. That's when the existing WWE Network app will cease operation. We also got more details about the Network content on Peacock. Not everything currently on the Network will be available when it launches on Peacock. WWE said Peacock is promising to have the entire network archive “available to stream on demand before SummerSlam”. At launch, the WWE Network on Peacock is promising every pay per view over the last calendar year... NXT episodes the day after they air... Raw and SmackDown episodes 30 days after they air… Plus, WWE original programming and documentaries. Live fans WILL be in attendance at WrestleMania. WWE announced tickets go on sale next Tuesday. There will also be an exclusive presale opportunity for fans who register. Last night's Raw opened with the new WWE Champion Bobby Lashley defending against The Miz. Miz lasted a little longer than he did last Monday, but eventually submitted to the Hurt Lock. Drew McIntyre is being called the “presumptive” next challenger to Lashley. Drew brawled backstage with Sheamus. They later met in a No DQ Match...that ended when both men ran into one another while carrying steel ring steps. The referee determined that Sheamus could not continue and called off the match. Randy Orton and AJ Styles went at it in the main event. The end came when Alexa Bliss appeared on the ‘tron. Fire shot from the ring posts...Randy started to cough up BLACK GOO again...caught a Phenomenal Forearm from AJ and got pinned. Braun Strowman got an apology from Shane McMahon. Later, Shane not-so-subtly implied that Braun is stupid. That led to Braun chasing Shane backstage, where Shane was able to lose him. Reginald resurfaced on Raw, in the corner of the women's tag champs Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Reginald was fired by Carmella in Friday's SmackDown. Jax and Baszler successfully defended their tag titles against Naomi and Lana. Jax pinned Lana. The New Day will challenge The Hurt Business for the Raw Tag Titles on next Monday's Raw. Xavier Woods beat Shelton Benjamin in a one-on-one match last night. Another title match made for next Monday: Riddle defends the U.S. Title against Mustafa Ali. Wednesday's NXT is now promoting TWO major announcements from GM William Regal. (STINGER: ROH) Jay Lethal will challenge Rush for the Ring Of Honor World Championship at the ROH 19th Anniversary pay per view on Friday, March 26th. Lethal earned the shot by pinning Matt Taven in a 4-way on ROH's weekend TV. A distraction by Vita VonStarr left Taven open for Lethal Injection. Jay Briscoe and EC3 were also in the match, but they brawled all the way backstage. Also on that show - Dalton Castle essentially saved his ROH career. He used a rollup to beat Josh Woods in a Pure Rules Match. After the match, Woods was confronted by his old tag partner Silas Young. But it's not clear if they'll reunite. (STINGER: New Japan) The New Japan Cup rolls on this morning with a pair of first round matches. Wednesday's show will have THREE first round matches - Jay White vs. Toa Henare...Yujiro Takahashi vs. YOSHI-HASHI...and David Finlay vs. Chase Owens. A couple title changes in other Japanese promotions over the weekend… There are new GHC Tag Team Champions. Katsuhiko Nakajima & Masa Kitamiya dethroned Takashi Sugiura & Kazushi Sakuraba at Pro-Wrestling NOAH's show on Sunday. The Open The Twin Gate Unified Tag Title changed hands in Dragon Gate's show on Sunday. Masaaki Mochizuki & Takashi Yoshida are the new champs after beating BxB Hulk & KAI. Results from Monday night's Raw and Ring of Honor's weekend TV are straight ahead in this update but first… This is the end of the WWE Network as we know it. WWE announcing Monday that NBC Universal's Peacock streaming service will become the exclusive home of the WWE Network in the United States. WWE says Peacock will launch its version of the network on March 18, and start rolling out 17,000 hours of WWE content - old, new, documentaries and more - along with ALL WWE pay-per-views. The first of the Peacock Era will be Fastlane on March 21. Many of the network's 1.1 million existing subscribers in the U.S. have a lot of questions. Details are a little slim at the moment. WWE says it will have more to say about how it will handle those accounts as we get closer to the Peacock launch in March. But here's the bottom line as WWE is laying it out - the Network will be available on Peacock Premium, which costs $4.99 a month. In theory, if you're a current Network subscriber and you do nothing, you'll simply be migrated over to Peacock Premium and start paying $4.99 a month.(Yes, $5 LESS than the current price for WWE Network). OR, you may not have to pay anything - Some 24 million homes with Comcast or Cox cable are already getting Peacock Premium included with their service at no extra charge. There's also an ad-free Peacock Premium PLUS that you can get for $9.99 a month. The deal between WWE and NBCU is reportedly worth $1 billion dollars over the next five years. Also Monday, WWE announced it expects to report a record operating income for 2020 - of $209 million dollars. That same announcement also discussed live fan attendance during the COVID-19 pandemic. WWE said it expects to see “cancellation, postponement or reduced capacity” at live events through at least June. New Royal Rumble entrants announced Monday...and the biggest name is Edge...who announced on last night's Raw that will return for the first time since he was injured during “The Greatest Match Ever” against Randy Orton back in June. Also now entered in the Rumble: Mustafa Ali, Sheamus and John Morrison. Some added sizzle for the return of WWE Backstage this weekend. WWE promoting that the 30th entrant in the men's Rumble...and the #1 and #2 entrants in the women's Rumble will be revealed during that show, which airs Saturday night. WWE announced Monday that Charlotte Flair and Asuka will defend their women's tag titles at the Rumble...against Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Also announced for the Rumble, Bad Bunny will perform his song “Booker T”, inspired by the wrestling legend of the same name. The Superstar Spectacle, WWE's special event for fans in India, airs this morning on the WWE Network. A couple one-on-one matches on the card: AJ Styles vs. Jeet Rama...and Finn Balor vs. Guru Raaj Rey Mysterio & Ricochet & Giant Zanjeer (7'2”, 340 lbs.) & Dilsher Shanky (7', 310 lbs.) vs. Dolph Ziggler & King Corbin & Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura Drew McIntyre & Indus Sher (Rinku & Saurav) vs. Jinder Mahal & Bollywood Boyz Charlotte Flair & Sareena Sandhu vs. Bayley & Natalya Here's what went else down on last night's RAW… Alexa Bliss appeared to be moments away from winning the Raw Women's title from Asuka...but that's when Randy Orton appeared, still bearing the damage from Alexa's fireball attack a couple weeks ago. He hit Bliss with the RKO. And that was the end of the show. Also last night, Riddle successfully ran the Hurt Business gauntlet - thanks in part to more dissent between Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander. Riddle will get a shot at Bobby Lashley's U.S. Title. (STINGER: Impact) Tonight's Impact Wrestling will see Matt Cardona in action - teaming with Josh Alexander against Ace Austin & Madman Fulton. Also, AEW's Matt Hardy and Private Party, the #1 contenders for the Impact tag titles, will be back on the show. (STINGER: AEW) 15 matches on tonight's AEW Dark - including Danny Limelight vs. Sean Maluta. Also in action, Miro, Rey Fenix, SCU and Santana & Ortiz. A new stipulation added to a match on Wednesday's Dynamite. BOTH Cash Wheeler and Tully Blanchard will be HANDCUFFED to Luchasaurus during the match between Dax Harwood and Jungle Boy. (STINGER: ROH) On Ring Of Honor's weekend TV, Shane Taylor PINNED Jay Lethal...as Taylor and the Soldiers of Savagery beat The Foundation. Josh Woods submitted Dalton Castle in a Pure Rules Match.

The Good Place), Rutherford Falls. Yikes.
