It's happened to most of us at least once. A condom breaks, it turns out the girl forgot to take her pill, or you got carried away and had sex even though you didn't have any condoms. These things happen, but the aftermath can be anxiety-inducing for a number of reasons. A World Health Organisation report from May 2024 said that sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis and syphilis in particular are on the rise. For example, the number of new syphilis cases among adults aged 15 to 49 increased from 7.1 million in 2020 to 8 million in 2022. The report suggested that a lack of screening was largely to blame. What are the other main types of STIs then? What about the risk of unwanted pregnancy? What's the best way to protect myself? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! A survey conducted by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) indicates that 2% of women aged 15–49 had sex with more than one partner in the 12 months before the survey, and of these women, 12% reported using a condom during their last sexual intercourse. The report also showed that 15% of men aged 15–49 had sex with more than one partner in the 12 months before the survey, and just 18% used a condom during their last sexual intercourse.

Yes, of course you can. But before you hit the sheets with your partner let's talk about some details first. One of the biggest fears or thoughts are about having sex when you've been diagnosed with herpes is that you'll have to use a condom for the rest of your life.

DON'T DO IT I REPEAT DO NOT HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX!!! If there is anything I regret most in the world it's having unprotected sex. Just becuase they tell you, you can trust them don't strap up anyway and protect you and your health. Trust me having a STD scare is not fun. It also funny enough made my trust inssue a whole lot worse then what it was before.
Many people risk RAW SEX knowing they are not ready to have a child, and in some cases that UNPROTECTED SEX leads to a PREGNANCY. In the past the man & woman would often decide to MARRY, but today more will opt to CO-PARENT or decide on ABORTION. In the event fo the latter, the man may want the child, but if the woman decides to get an ABORTION the man gets no choice in the matter. When the situation is reversed and she wants the child, but he wants her to abort the child the man can still be legally be forced to pay CHILD SUPPORT after the baby is born. Should a woman demand the man to take care of the child, despite his desire not to be in the child's life? What if she stops taking her pill and had the baby in hopes of maintaining a relationship with the man? Should women change their expectations and avoid sex with these types of men? Or should boys and men accept the consequences and responsibilities of their decision to have careless sex? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. With the recent appearance of the "GaysOverCOVID" on social media, it seems that our community has a history of ignoring what kills us. Photos showing gay men completely disregarding CDC guidelines at parties and events, are currently flooding platforms such as Instagram. In this episode, Mike has a very candid conversation with special guest, Gabriel Paez, regarding HIV and how it's still a factor even four decades later. Gabriel shares his story of being diagnosed with HIV, and how gay men seem to be ignoring this disease, although statistics show it's still very prevalent.
Unprotected Sex 01 Jan 2003 07:08:27 -0500 To: Carole From: Howard Baskin Subject: Good thoughts Thanks Carole, The unfiltered openness that you consistently show in your conversation is something I really enjoy and value. The bar comment did sort of turn my head for a moment, but I didn't think any more about it. The issue of unprotected other sex is something I've wanted to bring up but was not sure how. You operate at such a high level of integrity that I've accepted your initial comment of being "certified" disease free and have assumed you would act with concern for my health. But, frankly, I'm glad to have that understanding be explicit. Given your history, I'm not sure how you can believe commitments any man makes to you in return on these matters, but all I can do is assure you I would honor it as well. I suspect in my case it will not even come up, but that is a whole different discussion we do not need to have right now. I would like you to feel free to do whatever is right for you. Re the guidance, it was a little experiment based on something I had experienced once. But more generally, I would like to continue to learn what you enjoy and am happy to provide feedback as well. And while I don't have any particularly kinky inclinations, if at any time any suggestion were uncomfortable for you in any way I would want you to voice that rather than feel you were obligated. Meanwhile, it was really wonderful of you to focus on my pleasure despite the limitations on your own. Very rare. I think all of this is just part of the fun journey of getting to know each other over time. Thanks for the offer to stay. With the early breakfast and a long day of driving ahead, and not being used to sleeping with company, I felt that it was not the best time to possibly not sleep well. But I look forward to exercising the rain check. Happy New Year to you! Shall we plan something for Saturday night to kick it off? 01 Jan 2003 22:16:18 -0500 To: Carole From: Howard Baskin Subject: Re: Check out Dictionary Information: Definition Equanimous Looks like it is, indeed, a word. I think the sound of it as you say it, verbally or mentally, is very consistent with its meaning. Just has a peaceful ring to me. (Reading this 16 years later, it's the only time I knew a word Howie didn't) I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views. If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story. The titles are the dates things happened. If you have any interest in who I really am please start at the beginning of this playlist: http://savethecats.org/ I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story. In today’s Meat the boys talk about a message from Jay's sister, Nappi getting punked by a girl, having sex without condoms, and boyfriends liking other girls photos. But first, Nappi discusses 16 year olds who look 25, "the drive to the rave," and a sus DM he got this week. Then, Jay draws attention to a rare congenital birth defect that Lil Dicky was supposedly born with called hypospadias. It is not a secret that the boys are extremely environmental friendly. For example, in this episode Nappi aka "animal lover" details the hardships he went through in order to watch a friend's dog. Let's just say he got the short end of the stick. Then, the boys go off about how wearing a rubber is never even plan Z. It is honestly admiring the risks the boys will take in order to save the planet. Like usual this is an unprotected, pro-choice, and skin-to-skin podcast.

Kyrie Irving suggests players to skip NBA's Orlando return. He believes that the NBA’s return would provide people with a distraction from those protests. According to “Sports Illustrated”, On Friday, Nets guard Kyrie Irving reportedly led a conference call with over 80 fellow NBA players, including Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Donovan Mitchell, Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard. On the call, Irving, who is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery in February, expressed his opposition to the league's plan to resume the 2019-20 season in Orlando, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium."I don’t support going into Orlando," Irving reportedly said. "I’m not with the systematic racism and the bulls--t. Something smells a little fishy."Charania reports that Irving also said he's "willing to give up everything" for social reform. However, Lebron James doesn’t believe those things are mutually exclusive.James believes he can play basketball and affect social change all at once, Amick reports.“He wants to keep making his mark off the court. He wants to play basketball. And as has always been the case, he clearly believes he can do both at the same time.”Also in the episode, Ginny Fuchs, U.S. Olympic boxer, won't face punishment for a positive drug test after officials say she accidentally ingested banned substances through sex.According to TMZ,USADA launched an investigation after tested positive for drugs and said it was all because she was having sex her boyfriend without protection.Turns out she wasn't lying ... USADA officials say her positive sample did, in fact, come through intercourse.“I had no idea that you could get contaminated through intimate contact," Fuchs said in an interview with Fox 26's Mark Berman. "And I've just learned a lesson about this now and I want other athletes to learn from my mistake."Well, we didn’t know it’s possible but it looks like it is. So she will face no penalty for a positive drug test. All this and more - in the new exciting episode of “Bleav in sports gossip” with Simonna.Follow our host on Twitter @Simonna and Instagram @TheRealSimonnaAnd let’s stay connected!
The quick answer is no! You can absolulty have unprotected sex even if you have herpes. Before we dive deep and go into explanation on this let’s talk about how this is a huge myth and is one of the drivers for the stigma. When we are diagnosed and told that we have herpes we automatically think that we’re going to be forced to use condoms for the rest of our lives, even when we’re married. Yuck! And this is not true. Yes, condoms are great! They do a great job at preventing pregnancy and they do an okay job at preventing the transmission of herpes. Condoms definitely have their pros and thank goodness we have them. But let’s face it, there comes a time in a relationship when you don’t want to “have to” use one. I get it. Here’s the deal with condoms. Like I mentioned before they are great at preventing pregnancy in fact they’re 98% effective when used correctly. And when it comes to preventing herpes transmission they are 30-50% effective when used correctly. So this great news but it also explains why if you always used a condom why you still got herpes. Condoms don’t cover all of the body parts. I mean you’re pretty exposed still and herpes doesn’t just show up in the areas that are covered by the condom. Herpes can be on a mans scrotum, at the base where the condom doesn’t cover or in any area around the genital region. Same thing for women, herpes is not just in the vaginal canal or around the opening. It can be anyplace in her genital region. The best method out there for reducing the risk of transmission is actually when the person who’s infected takes the antiviral. Yep, the antiviral cuts down on transmission by 48%. This is far more effective than a condom because the antiviral keeps the herpes virus dormant in your system. So, what this boils down to and what this means in reducing the risk of transmission is you need to have a conversation with your partner about having herpes. They need to know and they need to make their own decision about when the condom comes off. Really this conversation needs to be had with our without herpes but we’re specifically talking about herpes. You and your partner need to talk about what precautions you’re going to take to reduce the transmission and what you both feel comfortable with. Go out there have fun and talk to your partner!!! Pleasure can be complicated, hunger can feel like a betrayal, but our bodies were built for pleasure and it's time for you to reconnect with what it means to feel good, to prioritize what brings you delight and joy, and to unpack the old stories that keep you stuck in shame and guilt. My new online course, Power in Pleasure: Reconnecting with Your Hunger, Desire, and Joy, will start enrolling soon, so join the notification list now and get first dibs on the course. It's me, my anxiety, and your emails. This week's selection includes advice on coming out, BDSM research, long distance love, and unprotected sex and herpes. At the top of the episode, I mentioned Ella Dawson's new piece, "In Case I Am Ever Murdered By a Man" and you can check it out here. Later in the episode, I refer a listener to Ella for her herpes activism, so use that link to get over to Ella's site and you'll see Herpes at the top of the page. Our first email is from a Patreon supporter, Tri. Tri has advice for a listener who wrote in a few weeks ago about a girlfriend who won't come out. I share Tri's advice and add a few of my own thoughts. Basically, each of us gets to come out in our own time, even if others don't understand. If you want to offer your own sage advice to listener questions, support the show at $5 per month! Suva wrote in because they are looking for BDSM researchers who are working with play theory. If anyone has any leads, let me know. In the meantime, I recommend checking out the researchers and articles in sexology journals. Here's a list of journals on Wikipedia. A little sidebar, too. Hear about a tiny oops Alex and I had with some lube this week. Plus, my anxiety makes a little show. That's life. Moving on, Lady Shy is a trans woman in a polycule, and one of her partners is about to move across the country. She hasn't done well with long distance relationships in the past. How can she set them up for success after this move happens? She really wants to preserve the relationship. Long distance can be hard, and it can also be such a beautiful opportunity for creativity and using all of this delicious technology we now have. What if you don't find your partner attractive? Is that normal? Is it a problem? How important is it to find your partner attractive? Let's talk about why attraction isn't always the most important thing and being in honest relationships. Anxious Annie has herpes. Her boyfriend insists it's not a big deal, but they've been having condom-less intercourse and AA is feeling really stressed about it. What if he gets herpes? What if she could have protected him? Does she trust his ease with it all? And if condoms would help ease her anxiety, should she insist on them or work on de-stigmatizing her own stories and beliefs? Let's talk about autonomy, herpes, and taking care of ourselves. Many reading this is saying what the hell. Or you may take a judgmental route and say she is nasty, whore and that is exactly what she deserves for sleeping around. However, more and more people are finding comfort in the arms and beds of people who are not their spouse. Many are so emotionally involved because there is something lacking at home and in the heat of the moment they forget the consequences of their actions. Let's face it if everything in marriage was peaches and cream majority of the time why...is the divorce rate so high? Why are there so many married people living single lives? We have a situtation that occurs everyday and people are too afraid to discuss it because they are ashamed of someone pointing the finger at them. When the truth is we all know someone who have lived through this situtation. To make the matters worse, she is pregnant by the husband's best friend. If this were you, your sister, cousin or best friend what advice would you provide? Let's be REAL WE ARE ALL GROWN!!!!!

These days sex can be a risky act. We all know there are plenty of reasons to use protection when you have sex with someone. The TWO MAIN REASONS are prevention of STD's and PREGNANCY. Outside of that, the use of a condom just doesn't make any damn sense. I mean to be truthful, sex with a condom on just simply doesn't feel the same., I mean its still good though, but to say it "feels" the same is a flat out lie. Now let me be upfront: PEOPLE SHOULD NOT, I REPEAT SHOULD NOT HAVE RANDOM UNPROTECTED SEX WITH ANYONE EVER! Now back to the real world where people do this sh** all the time! Yes, me personally I LIKE IT RAW! That doesn't however mean I will DO IT RAW every time I have sex with someone! The purpose of this show is to expose a nasty lie I think people tell themselves and others, and that is SEX WITH PROTECTION IS JUST AS GOOD AS SEX WITHOUT IT. A straight up LIE if I ever heard one! Both males and females if they are honest, will admit this fact. SO that is why even if you START OUT using a condom with a partner, ONCE you feel comfortable enough, you will indeed STOP USING IT most times. IT may not be the RIGHT move but its the move MOST people make. Just Keeping it 100! Questions: 1) DO YOU PREFER SEX WITH OR WITHOUT A CONDOM (MALE OR FEMALE) 2) DO YOU USE A CONDOM EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU HAVE SEX, OR ONLY UNTIL YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE ENOUGH TO STOP? 3) DOES A CONDOM CHANGE YOUR SEXUAL PERFORMANCE, DO YOU HAVE BETTER ORGASMS WITHOUT ONE? 4) WOULD YOU USE A CONDOM IF THERE WHERE NO STDS? 5) WHO DO YOU THINK LIKES USING CONDOMS THE LEAST, MEN OR WOMEN?
If you don't know what the name of the show is, you need to read more often. Because if you are black, which most of my demographic is, then you probably have encountered someone who knows EXACTLY what the hell it is. It is the clinical name for AIDS. Yesterday was world AIDS day and all this week there have been specials about the disease on TV , the Internet , and Radio. There is no cure so they say for this disease. They also say aliens don't exist. I don't believe either one. Before you develop the AIDS virus you become HIV positive, the early stages of the disease. If you catch it early in that stage you have a better chance of living a longer without it becoming AIDS. But being HIV positive in the black community is a rising trend. There are many reasons why it hit's certain groups of people more than it does others. If you ask me the POOR are the ones that get hit the hardest for a very simple reason: they cant afford health care for early detection, they are more likely to use hard drugs, and they are the least educated. Since black people by percentage have far more poor than everyone else, it only makes sense it hits us the hardest. This epidemic is serious and there are many things that can be done to prevent it, like having shows like this for starters. So here goes: Do you or did you know someone that is HIV positive or has AIDS or died from it? If so how did it effect you? Do you get tested frequently for this disease? Why do you think the black community is the number one group of people the disease is spreading? Where do you think this disease actually originated? Do you think there will ever be a cure? Do you ever have unprotected sex (married or not!) If so, knowing the risk, what is the REAL REASON that you do? Do you think homosexuals should get extra blame for the spread of the disease?
