Full Hour | In today's second hour, Dom welcomes State Representative Martina White back onto the Dom Giordano Program for an update from Harrisburg after Shapiro signed the recently passed Pennsylvania budget into law. This comes with controversy, after Republicans offered concessions for the installation of a Lifeline Scholarship program in the state, bringing school choice to Pennsylvanians after Governor Shapiro ran in support of the program and the issue. Then, Shapiro pulled a bait-and-switch, noting before signing that he'd essentially chill that aspect of the budget through his political power. Martina explains where things currently stand, and tells whether she still believes we'll soon seen school choice in Pennsylvania. Then, Dom spends a chunk of the hour analyzing the national election, asking listeners whether they initially supported Trump and why they would vote for him even if in jail. This leads Dom and Dan into a conversation about Trump's popularity, with both giving their own reasons why Trump has been able to make such an impact on conservatives. Finally, Dom welcomes back in Neal Zoren to hear what's worth watching on television and in theaters this weekend. First, Dom suggests a show to Neal, telling why he's very much enjoying Netflix's How To Become a Cult Leader. Then, Neal offers up his suggestions for shows worth watching, suggesting The Days, which focuses on the Fukushima disaster, Good Omens, a comedy that follows the alliance of an angel and demon as they team up to stop an impending Armageddon, and The Horror of Dolores Roach, a show he says strikes a similar chord to very-popular Barry. Then, Dan suggests The Righteous Gemstones, asking if Neal's seen it, and makes a point that he hasn't seen many Evangelicals calling for a boycott of the show as other groups would if it offended their sensibilities. Irma keek ook nog naar de Prime Video-serie The Horror of Dolores Roach, een nieuwe variant op het bekende verhaal van Sweeney Todd, waarin mensen tot lekkere pasteitjes worden verwerkt. Het levert een middelmatige serie op. Gelukkig heeft Janine een quiz gemaakt om de boel op te leuken, er zijn nieuwtjes en tips voor volgende week. Coldplay a rendu hommage à Elton John pour la fin de sa tournée d'adieu alors que les deux grands noms étaient tous deux en concert le même soir, mais dans des salles différentes, en Suède. Un duplex a été réalisé pour qu'Elton John puisse voir sur grand écran, la foule rassemblée au concert de Coldplay qui scandait son nom pour le remercier pour son incroyable carrière. Coldplay était en train d'interpréter "Rocket Man" lors de son propre concert de Göteborg, lorsque le chanteur Chris Martin a appelé Elton John, comme le montrent les images tournées par les fans et visibles sur classic21.be Les héritiers de Prince ont officiellement partagé deux enregistrements inédits retrouvés dans le légendaire "coffre-fort" de Prince. L'un est une version de "7", un single extrait de son album Love Symbol de 1992 ; et l'autre est l'inédit "All a Share Together Now", qui date de 2006, six mois après la sortie de l'album 3121. Les paroles de la chanson sont un message prémonitoire adressé au personnage principal de la série. La première saison se concentre sur Dolores, une femme qui recommence sa vie après avoir été libérée d'une peine de prison de 16 ans. La série est décrite comme "une légende urbaine macabre sur l'amour, la trahison, l'herbe, l'embourgeoisement, le cannibalisme et la survie du plus fort". Une nouvelle version restaurée en 4K du film-concert des Talking Heads, Stop Making Sense, sera montrée en août dans les cinémas. Les premières images nous étaient parvenues en mars et c'est un nouveau morceau qui sort aujourd'hui. Aaron Mark has been working on the story of Dolores Roach for 10 years, beginning with his 2013 play "Empanada Loca" and next with the podcast adaptation, The Horror of Dolores Roach, which starred Daphne Rubin-Vega. Now, Dolores Roach is coming to television, with the new Blumhouse/Amazon series "The Horror of Dolores Roach." The series stars Justina Machado as Dolores, a woman living in Washington Heights who begins experimenting with what to put in her empanadas... think a nod to "Sweeney Todd." DAPHNE RUBIN-VEGA is a two-time Tony and Drama Desk nominee (1996/2004) and recipient of the Theater World, Obie (1996) and Blockbuster (1998) awards. She has been a member of the Labyrinth Theater Company since 1992. Ms. Rubin-Vega is perhaps best known for the roles she originated, including Mimi ("Rent") and Conchita ("Anna in the Tropics"), both Pulitzer Prize winning Broadway shows for which she was nominated for the Tony award. She has since originated countless roles, including Dolores in Aaron Mark's urban homage to Sweeney Todd, "Empanada Loca", (Labyrinth Theater Company) which has since become the grizzly podcast, "The Horror of Dolores Roach" on Gimlet media. Daphne has contributed to various musical projects, including her notorious version of "Feliz Navidad" for Broadway Cares and her club smash cover of "Rocketman. In 2005, she received an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Kean University. "Dr." Rubin-Vega was born in Panama and raised in New York City where she lives with her husband and son.

We're back! On this episode we discuss Juana Barraza, an amateur Mexican wrestler and serial killer dubbed La Mataviejitas (or "The Old Lady Killer") who was sentenced to 759 years in jail for killing eleven elderly women. The first murder attributed to Mataviejitas has been dated variously to the late 1990s and to a specific killing in November of 2003. The authorities and the press have given various estimates as to the total number of the killer's victims, with estimates ranging from 24 to 49 murders. We get into Barraza's tragic beginnings.  She was the victim of physical, emotional and sexual abuse at the hands of her alcoholic mother and the men in her life.  As a mother, she worked multiple jobs to make ends meet.  One of the ways she earned money was by participating as an amateur wrestler in Lucha Libre as La Dama Del Silencio (The lady of silence).   We discuss Barraza's crimes, arrest, trial and what she's up to today.  Lastly, we share our take aways, shout outs and some tips on how Not to Get Murdered. Is 2019 the year to try something new? In this alternative edition of Saturday Review presented by Jordan Erica Webber, the panel review a fashion exhibition, a horror podcast, a murder mystery video game, two coming of age graphic novels and try to get out of a World War Two themed escape room. The Return of the Obra Dinn, a video game set in the 1807 in which you take on the role of an insurance adjuster, tasked with investigating a ship that has drifted into harbour after five years lost at sea, and determining the fates of the 60 people aboard. Fashioned from Nature, an exhibition in London’s Victoria and Albert Museum looking at the natural origins to the clothes we wear as well as the fashion industry’s toll on nature. The Horror of Dolores Roach, is a gory podcast drama which updates Sweeney Todd into a contemporary gentrified New York neighbourhood, starring Daphne Rubin-Vega and Bobby Cannavale. Two coming of age graphic novels, Grafity’s Wall by Ram V and My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies from Ed Brubaker. The former is about four young people living in Mumbai, the latter is a pulp-fiction tale about a American teenage girl in a rehabilitation centre. Plus the panel visit an escape room, a physical game which asks players to solves puzzle in order to win their escape from a room within a set time. The Adventure Begins in London, is themed around a World War Two prisoner of war camp, will our panelist make it out in time? Jordan’s guests are Shahidha Bari, Amber Butchart, and Rajan Data.
