First, Adam welcomes comedian Chad Daniels back to the show to talk about his new Netflix special Empty Nester, as they get into the passive and active trauma their parents passed onto them, how Chad has a dedicated promise to always tell the truth, how peanut butter and its counterparts have become a metaphor for life, and the new complex world of female vibrators. Then, Leah Knauer joins the show as the three discuss being able to know a person by the stickers on the back of their car and Adam's pitch for a gimp mascot for the NFL. Leah reads the news, which includes former LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announcing his candidacy for California governor, a humpback whale breaching on & capsizing a fishing boat off the New Hampshire coast, the booming business of AI Boyfriends, and zoo gorillas needing a limit on their screen time. Finally, Adam and Chad Daniels finish out the show by proposing to Leah their approach to applying reasonable gum laws to this country, limiting high capacity gum packs, applying licenses for gum purchases, and making sure you keep your gum protected behind a gum safe. Amon-Ra St. Brown: Lion's Wide Receiver on big off-season, new contract & star of NFL's Netflix series, strict upbringing, family influence, 3-13 as rookie to NFC championship, Dan Campbell's leadership & 2024 goal: Detroit Super Bowl

Detroit's star Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown continues to make headlines with major off season moves, first re-signing with the Lions for a 4 year $120M extension and now starring in the NFL's new Netflix series "Receiver", following the highly popular Quarterback series last year, the show is expected to be a summer hit. Ryan, Channing and Fred sat down with 2x Pro Bowler Amon-Ra St. Brown to talk about his upbringing in a strict but motivating household, the recent surge from the Detroit Lions and how he's utilized the chip on his shoulder from falling in the 2021 draft to becoming one of the highest paid wide receivers in the league. Amon-Ra shares his family history and mindset developed from a young age, always working harder and playing with a chip on his shoulder after dropping to late rounds in the NFL Draft to naming all 16 wide outs who's name was called before his using it as motivation to not allow someone's name to be called before his when it counted. Ryan talks about watching him during 7 on 7 as a high schooler and was blown away not just with his talent but his grit. Amon prides himself in being more of a "I can show you better than I can tell you" player as he's had a pivotal role on transforming the Lions from a 3-13 team his rookie year to playing in the NFC Championship this past season and credits the leadership of head coach Dan Campbell and tight knit locker room for Detroit's fast turn around. Falling one game short of the Super Bowl left a sting in the team's core and this offseason has been focused on starting with that same momentum heading into training camp with a roster full of talent, St. Brown knows they are a serious contender, now taken seriously in the league and have a target on their back heading into 2024 season despite still being considered the NFL's underdogs. St. Brown reflects on the foundations that shaped him from his unique family dynamic having a bodybuilder father, the former Mr. World, who trained him and his two brothers (one of whom also plays in the NFL), and a multilingual mother who exposed the family to diverse cultures around the globe with emphasizing education and experience. Developing a 1% mentality of always being better and outworking the next, whether it was catching 202 passes off the jugs machine daily or lifting weights with his siblings, Amon-Ra spent his life crafting his passion for football and credits his close-knit family for instilling that work ethic and determination that has now defined his NFL rise as a talented, gritty wide receiver, vying for that top spot. And with the release of NFL's Netflix Series "Receiver", St. Brown's stardom will continue to grow far beyond the gridiron into a household name as his story on and off the field unfolds from a young boy from Compton to now one of the highest paid Wide Receivers in the league. "Receiver" premieres on Netflix July 10th showcasing an unprecedented window into the toughest job in sports featuring St. Brown alongside NFL stars Devante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle and Deebo Samuel. Hard to believe that it’s been four months since the world, as we knew it, completely changed to a sudden standstill in the wake of… well, everything. Not that you’d notice it in some areas, but trust me, things are still pretty bad out there. It’s also lead to the shutdown and suspension of the anime convention circuit – that includes YOU, Anime Matsuri – but thanks to the power of the internet the shows are still able to go on… if only a bit smaller than usual. But that means you don’t have to worry about crowds this time around, which is always a net positive. We've got some tips for getting the most miles per gallon of gas.Useful Tips to Improve Your Gas Mileage1. Take it easy on the pedal. ... the faster you go the greater the drag that your car will have to work against. The same is true when coming to a stop. Imagine there is an egg between your foot and the gas pedal to remind yourself to accelerate slowly and gently. When breaking allow time to just slow by not having your foot on the gas peddle. 2. Adhere to your vehicle's recommended fuel type. ... if you’re suppose to put regular fuel in the car do it. If you’re suppose to put premium fuel in – do that. 3. Watch the weight. ... unless you’re driving a cargo van, don’t carry cargo regularly, for no reason. 4. Reduce drag. ... roof racks, bike racks, and storage accessories on your car add weight and increase aerodynamic drag. They aren’t for everyday use. 5. Inflate those tires to the correct pressure. ... flatter tires have more contact with the road and take more fuel to propel. Also watch the tread pattern of the tires. 6. Avoid prolonged idling. Your engine consumes half a gallon to a gallon of fuel every hour. Don’t rev your engine while starting in the morning. Let it run for 20 seconds and you’re good to go. 7. Drive in the highest possible gear but without putting undue stress on your engine. . . for a manual. Automatics – keep it on overdrive8. Forget aftermarket solutions . . performance enhancing gizmo or technology make promises but don’t deliver or the effect is negligible.9. Utilize online resources to find the best deals on gas. Something like Gas Buddy or AAA, Kroger fuel discounts, Wal-Mart giftcard discounts10. Refuel in the morning, not towards the end of the day . . . you can save a dollar of two because the gas is cooler and denser. When it expands, less gas makes up the same volume11. Do not ever forget to replacing your air filter 12. Be sensible when using the air conditioning – is city traffic better to roll down the windows13. Keep your car tuned up14. Every year use something like CRC Intake Cleaner GDI – throttle body cleanerAnd here’s what’s in the news this week: Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee Returns to Netflix July 19 Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, the show in which he picks up a comedian and takes them to coffee in a sometimes perfect/sometimes combustible car, usually framed around his interpretation of their personality, will return with new episodes to its relatively new home at Netflix next month.Consumer Reports has a list of 108 2007-16 models that have a record of much-worse-than-average overall reliability based on subscriber responses to their Annual Auto Survey. When a longshoreman doesn't feel like talking, you better get to walking or you're gonna get trespassing. That's just the way it goes.  Plus, your feedback is boring in for Christina's Fart Mistress Shed. Will she go thru with it?  AND we have a new awful work song. It's really quite depressing. Hope you enjoy it! The real news is Ari Shaffir is not only back from his vision quest, he's actually HERE, in the mommy dome. He has a new special coming to Netflix July 18 called Double Negative. Oh and he still owes Tommy and Bert a trip.

Hello, Horror Fiends. The Horror Junkies are back and once again we are joined with are good friend Jake to discuss the Alien Franchise. We did something weird and decided to record our episode at night in Mike's backyard, and it definitely complemented the topic of today's show. Patrick dives into the Horror News Room and brings up some excellent announcements in our world. First up is the trailer release of Castlevania, coming to Netflix July 7th. The intro to this trailer is among one of the coolest intro's to ever happen. We are shown an original Nintendo system and that classic red Castlevania cartilage and an old school Tv. Castlevania is going to be an animated series and that deals with "the last surviving member of a disgraced clan fights to save Eastern Europe from Dracula". The Tales from the Crypt TV series is getting a complete box set on DVD and is expected to hit selves June 20th. Also announced was that the new Godzilla movie will have practical effects, which really gets all of our veins pumping, as we always say "Bring Back The Monsters", so we are all looking forward to see some Monster Creation images coming soon. And lastly, Universal released the title for the shared universe of monster movies is “Dark Universe” and they introduced the logo and musical theme composed by Danny Elfman. On this week's Versus segment we chose The Creeper from Jeepers Creepers and The Crawlers from The Descent to fight in Space. The twitter poll had The Creeper wining at 54% and The Crawlers at 46%. We all debated and decided that due to their horde like attacks and the confined space of the ship would be so much of an advantage for The Crawlers. Want to know our thoughts of the Alien series? Well listen to the show and find out. -STAY WEIRD!! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/horrorjunkiespodcasts/support
