This week, we sit down with the man at the helm of one of the most interesting and exciting Swiss watch brands: Parmigiani Fleurier CEO Guido Terreni. Terrini stepped into the leadership role in 2020, a turbulent time for any brand, and since then has rapidly injected energy and excitement into one of the most credible brands born in the 1990s. We chat about Terreni's strategy and the opportunities that the excitement around the Tonda and the Toric provides. We also touch on what it's like to have the King of England send his watch in for service and why a Parmigiani Fleurier boutique on Macchu Picchu isn't out of the question. Before that, Andy and Felix talk GPHG, the unusual launch of the Universal Geneve Polerouter and Tony Traina 2.0.

A massive 20-feet-high rock stands unbalanced on a slippery slope of a hill. Fondly called Krishna's Butterball, its position is very amusing as it looks like it's about to roll down the slope. But it has been standing in the same small spot for hundreds of years. All attempts to move it have failed. It is much bigger than the rocks found in mysterious Macchu Picchu. So how does a 250-ton rock stand on a base that is smaller that 4 feet? Who put it there? And why no natural or human force can move it?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

If you have ever traveled, and if you have ever been able to string a sentence or two together in writing, you have probably thought of becoming a travel writer. After all, who wouldn't want to get paid to travel? On this episode of One Step Beyond, Shafik Meghji, co-author of 40 travel guidebooks, sole author of the acclaimed new book Crossed Off the Map: Travels in Bolivia, and a prolific freelance travel writer for many esteemed print and web publications, pulls the cover off the Guide Book business and tells us how he managed to make a career out of writing about travel. It took patience, persistence, rejection, circumstance, luck, serendipity, a lot of hard work and no shortage of talent. We talk about Shafik's background in sports journalism, the lingua franca that is football, and about getting robbed at the Macarana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro (Tony, not Shafik); we discuss Shafik's belated gap year to South America and India that made him reevaluate his life choices, and we discuss how the well-worn paths that were his Guide Book work gradually transitioned into a road much less traveled, as Shafik's reputation now allows him to choose more and more of his own subjects. We discuss the famed travel experiences everyone should enjoy – Macchu Picchu, Goa, Carnival in Rio, but also the one-of-a-kind experiences that can't be put into words for a guide book, like finding a great place for yoghurt behind a table in Kathmandu (or a hole-in-the-wall breakfast joint in Mangalore). We visit Tierra del Fuego, the islands at the end of the earth, and we discuss how Shafik has increased turned his attention into writing about this intersection of globalization, travel, and the environment, focusing on the climate emergency and how travel can impact negatively and enlighten us positively regarding the fragile future of our planetThere was lots we did not get talk about, however, and so we will have Shafik back on One Step Beyond in the near future, to talk about Bolivia, Costa Rica, the rainforests of Wales, the biodiversity of the Essex Estuary, and the state of travel journalism in a world of social influencers and affiliate bloggers. At least I hope we will. In the meantime, please visit Shafik at his web site shafikmeghji.com and be sure to follow through to the Articles section to read some of his superb journalism. #230 It's easy to be confused about our life's purpose by all the negative and disheartening news from around the world. It's also easy to mistake the idea that we've reached our peak evolution through humanity's rapid technological advancements. For thousands of years, humanity has fought over who and what God is. But what if it's none of that, and our beliefs about God are creating the chaos and suffering we're seeing in the world today. In this fascinating episode, bestselling author, Neale Donald Walsch will help us remember the fundamentals. It's important to look at your own skills, talents, and experiences and trust that the divine has plans to put them to use in a way that will serve a higher good, as it did with Neale. Interestingly, right before his book, Conversations with God, sold millions of copies, Neale's life was certainly not a bestseller, as it was falling apart. He had been laid off, had major marriage issues, and suffered health problems that all led to him living on the sidewalk for an entire year (you read that right). It wasn't until a miracle part-time job that he started to regain some semblance of a life with shelter, food, and a little bit of money. It was during this time that he started venting his anger to God in written form. In pure anger and frustration, he asked questions like "Why me?" and “What do you want from me? What does it take to make life work?" Then something incredible happened, Neale heard a voice that jokingly said, "Do you really want the answers?" From then on, he took dictation and wrote down what he was hearing, and started a paper dialogue. The rest is publishing history. Neale will graciously teach us how we can flourish as we live the human experience through our divine connection with God. He will demonstrate how we can find our way back to our soul connection, and tune into the infinite intelligence that will ground us and move us toward love and fearless living. It's a gift to share this interview, and I hope it brings you increased peace, spiritual connection, compassion, and awareness of who you really are. About Neale Donald Walsch: Neale Donald Walsch is a modern day spiritual messenger whose words continue to touch the world in profound ways. With an early interest in religion and a deeply felt connection to spirituality, Neale spent the majority of his life thriving professionally, yet searching for spiritual meaning before experiencing his now famous conversation with God. The Conversations with God series of books that emerged from those encounters has been translated into 37 languages, touching millions and inspiring important changes in their day-to-day lives. Neale has written 39 books on spirituality and its practical application in everyday life. Titles in the With God series include: Conversations with God, Books 1-3; Friendship with God; Communion with God; The New Revelations; Tomorrow's God; What God Wants; and Home with God. Seven of the books in that series reached the New York Times Bestseller List, CWG-Book 1 occupying that list for over two-and-a-half years. His most recent books are When Everything Changes Change Everything (2010), The Storm Before the Calm (2011), The Only Thing That Matters (2012), What God Said (2013), GOD'S MESSAGE TO THE WORLD: You've God Me All Wrong (2014), and Conversations with God: Awaken the Species (Book 4) (2017). His newest book is The God Solution, was published in December, 2020 by Phoenix Books. Conversations with God has redefined God and shifted spiritual paradigms around the globe. In order to deal with the enormous response to his writings, Neale has created several outreach projects, including the CWG Foundation, CWG for Parents, Humanity's Team, the CWG Helping Outreach, and The Global Conversation --- all accessible at the “hub” website www.CWGPortal.com, and all dedicated to help the world move from violence to peace, from confusion to clarity, and from anger to love. Neale's work has taken him from the steps of Macchu Picchu in Peru to the steps of the Shinto shrines of Japan, from Red Square in Moscow to St. Peters Square in Vatican City to Tiananmen Square in China. And everywhere he has gone, from South Africa to Norway, Croatia to The Netherlands, the streets of Zurich to the streets of Seoul, Neale has experienced a hunger among the people to find a new way to live, at last, in peace and harmony, and he has sought to bring people a new understanding of life and of God which would allow them to experience that. Key Points Discussed: Searching For Spiritual Meaning (00:00) The desire that drives him to tirelessly help people globally. (00:04) Defining God: How Neale describes God from his own understanding. (03:47) Why there's so much evil in the world despite 85% of humanity believing in a higher power. (06:55) Stepping into your purpose by abandoning survival as a fundamental instinct. (12:03) Having cautious optimism that humanity will wake up and strive to be better. (17:27) The Tripple Whammy - How loss and pain initiated his journey to spiritual awakening. (21:32) How his conversations with God became a best-selling book with 15 million copies sold in 37 languages. (30:13) A common frustration that affects all of us. (34:54) Understanding why God is pure love and how we can love others unconditionally. (37:06) Continuously helping people become better versions of themselves. (48:20) Living in line with the agenda of your soul. Covering thousands of miles in the Andes, the Inca Trail was the backbone of the ancient empire, connecting the millions of people who lived under its rule. The jewel in its crown, Macchu Picchu, was recently named one of the seven wonders of the modern world. But who were the Incas? What was the purpose of their complex road system? And why did they build a stone citadel on a mountain ridge, only to abandon it a century later? This is a Short History of Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail. Written by Jo Furniss. Yes, Sahara Rose is my real name. I guess you can say that I was destined to be a world-traveler. (Actually, I've heard that from so many people since I became a traveler) I empower, inspire, and help ambitious women put purpose to their wanderlust and create the travel-focused business that they envision. I'm just a girl with a mermaid soul, a sense of wanderlust, and a dream of living a life of financial and spiritual freedom. I travel. I love talking about travel. I love helping people travel. I love sharing my knowledge of travel. I love inspiring people to travel. I love telling my travel stories. You too? I knew that is why you were here! I've trekked from Cusco to the top of Macchu Picchu. I've gone scuba diving in the seas of the Philippines. I've had a henna tattoo from a man on the streets of Mumbai, India. I've woken up at 5am to watch the rising hot air balloons of Bagan, Myanmar. I've sat in a circle and drank handmade kava with the locals in Fiji. I've seen whales while sailing on a catamaran in South Africa. I've soaked my feet in the salt flat pools of Las Salinas in Argentina. I've actually rode a camel and slept in the middle of the Sahara Desert in Morocco (yes, people always ask me if I've been there since my name is Sahara) I have more travel photos that I'll ever know what to do with but so many new friends that I'll keep for a lifetime. Does this ignite all of your worldly adventures and memories too? But my life didn't begin as one filled with tropical vacations and global getaways. I grew up as an only child to a single mom in a middle class household where we could barely afford that fancy peanut butter and jelly mix in a jar (you know what I'm talking about, right?) My vacations consisted of our entire family packed in my grandpa's old van and driving from northern US to the border of Mexico to visit my grandma's family every summer until I was about ten. All of those fancy trips that I saw in movies and in magazines seemed so far out of reach for someone like myself. I loved the idea of travel so much that I studied it in university. In my college years, I was your typical broke student working five jobs at once to pay for my $1000 a month rent for a single room in Chicago. But I had a vision for my life and an Aquarius vibe. After making money and mental shifts, I took action and my life changed ever since. I've traveled solo to 84+ countries. I turned my most popular blog post into a published travel and mindset book. I started my dream travel business as a Travel Coach and became a pioneer in this remarkably interesting and exciting niche. I educate, empower, inspire, and help ambitious women travelers from all around the world bring to life their own meaningful travel-focused businesses that align their travel expertise with the impact that they make on the lives of others. I am the founder of The Travel Coach Network and creator of the ICF internationally recognized Travel Coach Certification Program™. I am also a certified Transformational coach, a published author, a speaker, and have been seen in various media outlets including Thrive Global, Forbes, Skift, Yahoo! Finance, USA Today, Best Company, Travel to Wellness, Corporate Wellness Magazine, Business Insider, and U.S News & World Report for my expertise. I was a 2019 nominee by career-changing women in the travel industry for rising female leader, best female coach, and best innovative trailblazer. Are you interested in becoming a Travel Coach or grow a thriving travel business yourself? Excellent! I love working with people who also share a deep passion for experiences, adventures, and year-round tan lines! I founded The Travel Coach Network to bring together travel-loving women from all around the globe who are travel coaches or travel business owners to connect, engage, and be a part of the travel coaching movement. And luckily for you, I've made becoming a travel coach extremely easy. I created and instructed The Travel Coach Program to help women just like you who relate to someone just like me. Stuff That's Real (That You Didn't Know Was Real) But Also Is Cool
According to a physicist, the entire universe may be one giant neural network. National Geographic claims there are many secrets about Machu Picchu that have yet to be discovered. For example, there may be a secret city hidden beneath the surface. According to a new study, the universe may be one giant neural network. This theory was proposed by a group of physicists who believe that the universe is made up of tiny particles that are constantly interacting with each other. You may have seen or heard that we're planning a move to Portugal — and hoping to travel while making the transition. We received some questions about this: “We would love to travel more, even long term, but I am getting more hesitant because of predictions about downturns in the economy, warfare, etc. I see a lot of people encouraging self-reliance and preparation at this point in time (ie growing and storing your own food). This seems like it would be hard to do while traveling. I want to protect and provide for my family, but I also see the amazing benefits of traveling as a family. What is your take on these predictions and what does your family do to prepare for potential crises? Should these things be taken into consideration when considering where to travel and when? Things have changed so much in the world in just a couple of years!” We also had some Instagram followers and podcast listeners asking, “How do you decide where to travel or where to LIVE? And how do you go about getting a visa to do that? And didn't you want to live in a Chateau in France? What happened to that?” In this episode, we're going to discuss travel, living abroad, making decisions about WHERE and HOW to live, being safe and preparing for worst-case scenarios, and why ‘following your heart' (and what that means) is a key piece to this whole life puzzle. Life IS risk. If you're going to be alive there is risk in living. You might as well make the most of the risky life you already have. You have to get ‘boots on the ground' and touch, feel, and experience YOUR LIFE. Truly Live Your While You're Alive! But we're also not promoting unsafe or stupid behavior. So where is that balance found? How do you find the middle ground between risk-taking and being safe and prepared? That's what we discuss in this episode that you don't want to miss! This episode is sponsored by our Trips & Adventures. Travel with us to cool destinations like Jordan, Norway, Egypt or Greece. Past trips include riding dromedaries in the Sahara desert or hiking to Macchu Picchu, or sailing around the Galapagos. We lead trips and retreats for teens, couples, families, and men. In this special episode, Emily and Rachel wrap up their Peru series by answering a series of pertinent and astute questions from listeners, friends and family, on all manner of topics related to this leg of their 5 month trip. Spirituality is a vital component of ones well-being. Having a connection to something bigger than ourselves is essential in finding peace within ourselves and to have a deeper connection with all living things. Humanity has struggled with deciding what this connection is and depending on what you choose to guide you in your spirituality there are over 4,000 religions being followed on this planet. Whether you are religious or spiritual there is a common ground that we all need to find when it comes to the connection that we all share. If you can find it for yourself it can be life changing and bring you closer to who you are and the role you play on your journey. The Doctor Dads sit down with Neil Donald Walsch and discuss this predicament we are in as a collective and how we need to evolve our idea of what connects us all and in doing so shift the very world we live in into something better for humanity as we move forward. Neale Donald Walsch is a modern day spiritual messenger whose words continue to touch the world in profound ways. And everywhere he has gone --- from South Africa to Norway, Croatia to The Netherlands, the streets of Zurich to the streets of Seoul --- Neale has experienced a hunger among the people to find a new way to live, at last, in peace and harmony, and he has sought to bring people a new understanding of life and of God which would allow them to experience that.
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/estudioscavernarios/message

Day 4 on the Salkantay Trail included a steep hike uphill and downhill. The group began its adventure that day at La Playa (6,716 ft / 2,000 m) and hiking for three hours to the ancient Inca lookout of Llactapata (8,694 ft / 2,650 m). From Llactapata, they braved the steep trail downhill for two hours. It was here where Linda experienced another near-miss. Finally, the group arrived at Hidroelectrica (6,233 ft / 1,900 m) and boarded the train to Aguascalientes (6,692 ft / 2,040 m). Thus ended the camping portion of the trail to Macchu Picchu; the visit to the majestic palace would happen the next day. Looking for more opportunities to escape the quarantine? The journey of the Salkantay Trek to Macchu Picchu marked its highest point at the Salkantay Pass on Day 2. That day, the trail began at Soraypampa (1,263 ft / 3,850 m) and ended at Collpapampa (9,842 ft / 3,000 m). It was the longest hike of the adventure, with 13.5 miles / 21.2 km traversed along more or less eleven hours. Day 2 also had the highest point of the trek - literally. Situated at an altitude of 15,090 ft / 4,600 m, the Salkantay Pass is above the point of where vegetation grows. It looked and felt as if being on the moon (at least, based on the pictures we've seen). Coming down from the Pass gave us a chance to walk above and amongst the clouds as we walked through a cloud forest. If you want to hear about what it's like to walk in the clouds, listen to this podcast for more details. Looking for more opportunities to escape the quarantine? Have you ever considered doing the Inca Trail but feared you might miss out on seeing other important sites of natural beauty in Peru? Or maybe you tried getting passes for the Inca Trail but found that you couldn't get passes for it anymore? Well don't fret; there are other exciting options for you adventurers. In May 2019, Jarrett and Linda finally made the decision to return to Peru to hike to Macchu Picchu. With only a month to go before their trip, they could no longer get passes for the Inca Trail, but that turned out great. Instead, they embarked on the Salkantay-Santa Theresa trek. In this episode, Jarrett and Linda tell you why they chose this journey, what to look for when looking at different touring companies, and about the company they went with, Llama Path. They tell you about their itinerary and how they prepared for the trip. The only bad thing about this episode is that you won't be able to travel to Peru right away! This podcast is a conversation with Albert Lin, probably best known for his work as a presenter on National Geographic TV. Most recently he has appeared on Lost Cities with Albert Lin. In that series, Albert used drone-mounted Laser scanning which can punch through the vegetation to reveal ancient archaeological features on the landscape. I was fortunate to work with with Albert on two programmes in the series: one on Petra in Jordan and the other on Macchu Picchu in Peru Albert describes himself as an Explorer, a Scientist and a Communicator and his work testifies to that. He led an incredible project to try and find the lost tomb of Genghis Khan, which used crowd-sourced data to make new discoveries in a remote Mongolian sacred area, where few had ever travelled. However, what makes Albert unique for me is his incredible optimism and positivity towards life in general. He is someone who grabs life as it rushes by and holds on for the ride. A fantastic musician, he would often be picking away at a guitar or some other stringed instrument he had just picked up as we bounced around rough roads on our way to location. And the second part of the conversation really expresses everything about Albert. How he took a deeply traumatic experience and transformed it into an opportunity for learning and understanding. Experiencing horrific phantom pain after the loss of his leg in a car accident, Albert set out to try and find a solution that wasn't based on the addictive and truly dangerous opioids available. That led him to using psychedelic drugs, along with Neuroscientific expertise, to reset his brain and end the pain. Now Albert researches how to use psychoactive substances to treat pain, but he also leads a research project which uses cellphones to create prosthetic limbs for some of the world's 40 million amputees, many of whom are immobilised by their condition. Alberts energy certainly inspires me and I believe it will inspire you too. Support this podcast

Our guest this week is Neale Donald Walsch, an actor, screenwriter, speaker, and the author of the series “Conversations with God”About NealeNeale is a modern day spiritual messenger whose words continue to touch the world in profound ways. With an early interest in religion and a deeply felt connection to spirituality, Neale spent the majority of his life thriving professionally, yet searching for spiritual meaning before experiencing his now famous conversation with God. The Conversations with God series of books that emerged from those encounters has been translated into 37 languages, touching millions and inspiring important changes in their day-to-day lives.Neale has written 29 books on spirituality and its practical application in everyday life. Titles in the With God series include: Conversations with God, Books 1-3; Friendship with God; Communion with God; The New Revelations; Tomorrow’s God; What God Wants; and Home with God. Seven of the books in that series reached the New York Times Bestseller List, CWG-Book 1 occupying that list for over two-and-a-half years. In order to deal with the enormous response to his writings, Neale has created several outreach projects, including the CWG Foundation, CWG for Parents, Humanity’s Team, the CWG Helping Outreach, and The Global Conversation, all accessible at the “hub” website www.CWGPortal.com, and all dedicated to help the world move from violence to peace, from confusion to clarity, and from anger to love.Neale's work has taken him from the steps of Macchu Picchu in Peru to the steps of the Shinto shrines of Japan, from Red Square in Moscow to St. Peter's Square in Vatican City to Tiananmen Square in China. And everywhere he has gone, from South Africa to Norway, Croatia to The Netherlands, the streets of Zurich to the streets of Seoul, Neale has experienced a hunger among the people to find a new way to live, at last, in peace and harmony, and he has sought to bring people a new understanding of life and of God which would allow them to experience that.Join the Inspired Evolution Community:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/InspiredEvolution/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/InspiredEvo/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/InspiredEvolution/Website: https://inspiredevolution.com/In this Episode We Canvas:The Biggest Problem That we Face Today People see outcomes but they don’t know what the cause of the outcomes is, and that in itself is the biggest problem in the world today. We all, for example, know that our civilization won’t start moving in the direction that we would like it to move in, but we don’t know why. The fallout from that though is alienation, and it’s visible all over the world in such enormous magnitudes even during the current Coronavirus pandemic when we are all supposed to be united. Neale feels that at some higher level, the force of alienation and unity are meeting face to face at the same time for a reason that has to do with the evolution of our species. “The biggest problem in the world today is that most people don’t know what the biggest problem in the world today is” - Neale Donald WalschAlienation’s Role in Ensuring ConnectionAlienation is absolutely necessary for connection to take place because we as human beings cannot develop the desire for connection unless we experience the lack of it through a certain level of widespread alienation and all the negative impact that comes with it.“In the absence of what we are not, what we are cannot be experienced” - Neale Donald WalschOur Decision in Our Evolution Through self awareness, we become decision makers and have a key role to play in the process by which we evolve because we are aware of what is going on with us, in us, as us, and through us, in every moment of our lives, and we can make decisions that affect that experience. In order to make those decisions, we must choose between a number of choices that are based on four fundamental questions, namely, Who am I?, Where am I?, Why am I where I am?, and What do I intend to do about my answer to the third question? A lot of people don’t know who they are or why they’re here because they don’t even attempt to ask the four questions. “Evolution is not a process that happens to us, it’s a process that happens through us” - Neale Donald WalschShift HappensThe current shift that’s taking place, especially due to the pandemic we’re experiencing, has pushed people towards asking the four fundamental questions because they are seeing things as they know them changing in ways they could have never thought possible. Human beings as a species are now gathering the truth and growing. “We’re taking larger swallows from the serum of ultimate reality” - Neale Donald WalschSpeaking as the Mouthpiece of GodAnyone can speak as the mouthpiece of God because nobody is separate from the divine. Neale highlights that God puts words into his mouth just as much as he does into the mouths of others, and that happens in the form of inspiration. Inspiration is all about one declaring and announcing concepts and ideas that they believe in their heart to be true, and that they believe in their heart to have been inspired by the divine. “Wouldn’t be interesting if God never stopped speaking to us” - Neale Donald WalschUnconditional LoveDoing unto others as we would like done unto us is a simple tool that we can all use to integrate unconditional love into our daily expression of love. Another way of doing it is by questioning a choice before we make it and asking ourselves what it has to do with the agenda of our individual soul. That puts the choice in a brand new context and so one longer considers it as they had done initially. “God doesn’t leave the room when we’re at our worst” - Neale Donald WalschBelieves are Synonymous Without SpiritualitySpirituality is just a larger word for belief, and it’s a word we use when we want to talk about our most sacred beliefs. Even though we may not realize, a lot of our spiritual beliefs unconsciously dictate the actions, choices, and decisions we make in our everyday life. Neale feels that even though there has been the issue of our spiritual and religious beliefs being instilled in us without our full understanding, we must acknowledge that they have taught us a lot of true things about life and deity. He highlights that it’s time to look at all the fundamental elements of our world's religions to see what it is we don't understand because that could change everything.“It’s time to take a close look at the fundamental elements of our world’s religions to see if there is something we don't fully understand, the understanding of which would change everything” - Neale Donald WalschInspired Evolution To NealeInspired evolution to Neale means evolution based on our here and now experience and our here and now highest desire. It’s not based on our understandings from the past. We have to be willing to let go of our understandings from the past, not to abandon them but to temporarily release them and then re-evaluate them to see which ones are worthy to be held on to. A great example of how we question our beliefs is how we question our oneness by thinking that we are separate from each other, when in reality we are a single entity simply expressing in individual parts.“Evolution is the process by which we really step into our here and now highest thoughts and grandest desires about tomorrow” - Neale Donald Walsch See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

At 59, Karen Briscoe is training for a half iron man, has scaled Macchu Picchu, run a triathlon and written a book about how consciously adding movement to your life, gives you energy for all the things you’ve ever wanted to do. Karen has always been a high achiever, she runs a top real-estate agency in Washington and was living the dream in success, marriage and children. On the brink of burnout from relentless achievement she had a feeling that there must be something more and set on a personal development journey to discover what that was. We discuss: A world where busy-ness is the new competitive arena The belief systems that tell us we can’t spend time on ourselves - hers was realising she didn’t feel worthy of starting with herself. How the oxygen mask analogy really only applies in a crisis situation The epiphany that changed things: She realised the only person stopping her from living the fullest version of her life was her. The construct of time - how we can create time for the things we love The magic that happens when you cultivate movement and an open curiosity to what comes next Practical tools for having a full and exciting life not just a busy one. This episode is packed with tips, tools for getting started and such an infectious energy that you know this amazing woman is on to something! My podcast editor, Jeff Julian, drove his RV all the way to Anaheim from Kansas City to attend Vidcon with his wife, Michelle, and kids, Brandon and Addison. Actually, this is a fun conference. The tagline for Vidcon is ‘For people who love and make online video’. Frankly, this conference is packed with tons of YouTube celebrities. It’s really a venue that allows young millennial and Generation Z fans to meet their YouTube stars. Such a cool idea to link fans and YouTube celebrities together, why didn’t I think of that? Anyway, as the whole family is already on the West Coast, they might as well drive all the way to Portland to see Pam, right? It’s only 980 some miles. And he did. It was wonderful to see Jeff, Michelle, and their kids. Since I did several podcasts about marketing takeaways from my visits to Lima, Macchu Picchu, Chatsworth Manor in England, Jeff was joking about me doing a podcast about his visit. Of course, I am going to do an episode to commemorate his visit. So, what is my marketing take away from Jeff’s visit? We took a trip to Trillium Lake near Mount Hood. When the light is at the right angle, you can see the reflection of Mount Hood in the lake. We didn’t see that, but it was still a beautiful day. People were kayaking, swimming, and fishing. We took a hike instead. Jeff and his son, Brandon, are into geocaching. For listeners who are not familiar with geocaching, it’s like a treasure hunt. You use GPS or other navigational techniques to find hidden containers, called caches. Once you find it, you sign the log with your code name and date to show that you’ve found the cache. I know about the game, but I’ve never tried it. First of all, I don’t have much patience for ‘hike’ and seek. Secondly, it requires me to look at the GPS constantly. I don’t want to look at my phone screen while I hike. Lastly and the most important reason: I have no sense of direction. If I were doing that, while hiking, I guarantee that I’ll get lost and never find a way home. Jeff and Brandon were looking for a geocache while we were hiking. And, when Jeff found out that I’ve never done geocache ever, he insisted that I needed to do one. I agree. The first cache we tried to find is called Rodent Warning. With this clue: right out in the open, five feet off the ground in the crack of a tree. Really, the description is vague and not clear. The GPS led us to a place covered with trees. What does it mean ‘right out in the open?’ Does it mean the open ground area surrounded by the trees or an open grassy area from which we can see the sky? So we were not sure which area… And we kept looking up, but we couldn’t see the container in the crack of a tree. Either GPS was wrong, or we were just completely blind. We weren’t able to find the cache. I blamed the GPS and the unhelpful clue. Well, I gave up. It’s interesting that for things like this, I give up easily. For work-related stuff, I don’t give up easily and will work until I find a solution. Jeff and Brandon didn’t give up and tried again with another cache. This time, Jeff and Brandon went ahead and found it. Then, Jeff gently nudged Michelle, Addison and me to find it. Ok, this one was not hard to find, because the clue is clearer. Here is the clue: Look for two huge root balls of fallen trees. It’s deep in the center of the smaller one, covered by a piece of bark. Ok, we found two huge roots of fallen trees right away. We went around the roots. Right in the center of these two fallen trees, we saw a piece of bark. Viola. Behind that, a robot. I found my first geocache robot. I signed my name and dated it. A major milestone for me. Yeah! So, what is my marketing take away from this experience? Well, the two descriptions made me think about marketing. To me, one description is vague, the other is clear. There are times, as a marketer, you need to provide clear and straight-forward content, especially content related to product features and benefits, to guide your customers through their purchase journey. There should not be confusion in terms of what you want your customers to do or how you want them to behave. This is especially true for point of sale. Make it easy for them to buy, like Amazon’s one-click system. But there are times, you may need to be vague, in general, like when you are giving a sneak peak of your product launches, clues for creative marketing campaigns such as interactive gamification or contests. There are times and places that you can make your customers work a little to get what they want, but you need to provide certain incentives to entice them to do that. So, 1st geocaching adventure for me, one marketing take away from Jeff’s visit and one podcast. We had a great time at Trillium Lake. Portland, Oregon is a beautiful place. You should visit. If you are in town, let me know. Again, send me your marketing questions or thoughts via Twitter @pamdidner Be well. Until next time.
Yes we can. We're back. I feel like we've been saying that a lot recently. So do you think about the Incan civilization? We did. Or Jeremiah did. Then he told us about it. The Incan's burned out quickly due to the anger of their subjects and to the intervention of some illegal immigrants. During the time the were around they did some pretty cool stuff, like Macchu Picchu and developing a written language. Hope you enjoy.

Greg welcomes Neale Donald Walsch to Inner Journey. Neale Donald Walsch is a modern day spiritual messenger whose words continue to touch the world in profound ways. With an early interest in religion and a deeply felt connection to spirituality, Neale spent the majority of his life thriving professionally, yet searching for spiritual meaning before experiencing his now famous conversation with God. The Conversations with God series of books that emerged from those encounters has been translated into 37 languages, touching millions and inspiring important changes in their day-to-day lives.Like Greg, Neale's work has taken him all over the world from the steps of Macchu Picchu in Peru to the steps of the Shinto shrines of Japan, from Red Square in Moscow to St. Peters Square in Vatican City to Tiananmen Square in China.
Travel feeds our souls. We make it a priority to go on a big trip every summer. Last year we spent 2 weeks in Ireland touring the whole country. This summer we are going to Peru for 2 weeks to see Macchu Picchu, the Amazon jungle, and some good eats in Lima. Sprinkled in-between these big trips we try to take advantage of any other travel we can squeeze in. While they may not be big international trips, they still feed our wanderlust. With all this travel we still want to save money, so we are sharing some of our best tips on traveling on a budget. To find the show notes for the episode please visit hisandherfi.com/09
Neale Donald Walsch: When Everything Changes, Change Everything This was one of the very first interviews I ever did for the WISH Summit. It was recorded in 2010. This is a fantastic call about how to bring communication difficulties and explains some of the underlying problems preventing our ability to understand one another. This call is well worth your time. Neale Donald Walsch puts the film The Secret into perspective and explains how this film went way off the mark. This call will inspire you to use your spiritual ninja skills to make your life, and the lives around you, go right. Neale has written 29 books on spirituality and its practical application in everyday life. Neale's work has taken him from the steps of Macchu Picchu in Peru to the steps of the Shinto shrines of Japan, from Red Square in Moscow to St. Peters Square in Vatican City to Tiananmen Square in China. Neale has a home in southern Oregon where he lives with his wife, Em Claire, one of America’s newest poetic voices (www.emclairepoet.com). They travel extensively throughout the world, speaking to audiences and sharing the messages of the Conversations with God material, as well as offering the healing messages held within Em's poetry.

"I don't buy a lot of things. I buy pins on the map." Mandy France is the founder and contributing editor of The Responsible Traveler. She is a freelance travel writer and editor, a published children’s author and an illustrator. She is an ethical adventurer at heart. From trekking the Inca Trail in Peru to climbing the highest mountain in Africa, she’s made adventure a priority in life. She’s also a vegan which gives her further insight into what ethical travel is and how to be compassionate in the things you do abroad. In this episode we get into how the passing of her mother sparked a curiosity and burning desire to stop playing life safely and instead experience as much as the world has to offer. We also explore specifically how Mandy now lives her lives and the takeaways you can apply to make the decision to travel more. What we cover: How the passing of her mother sparked Mandy's decision to leave a career at Disney to see the world, something she previously wasn't curious to do. Her first trip, a 4-day trek from Cusco to Macchu Picchu, was the first time she'd ever done anything like it. We break down how Mandy is able to create a sense of urgency in her life. What is responsible, ethical tourism or travel, and how to make responsible considerations in your trips (for example, don't ride elephants in Thailand - we get into why that's unethical). How responsible travel provides an opportunity for you to take a story home that you can be proud to share. Travel as a vegan: Her biggest challenges. 3 Steps to Create a Sense of Urgency in Your Life: Have a clock. Create a countdown and a finite window of time to plan that next experience. Embrace the reminders of your own mortality. Identify the legacy you want to leave behind. Lynda returns with a detailed account of her journeys to India and Macchu Picchu in Peru.
Yuroc of the 5th World is interviewed by Aingeal Rose & AHONU. Yuroc and Pam are star seeds from far away, incarnated in human form some decades back. Yuroc arrived in the Mid West, and Pam came into the Reading, Pennsylvania, area. The boy was named Brian Crissey, but later a Quechua shaman at Macchu Picchu renamed him Yuroc, or spiritual man. The girl was named Pam Meyer, although she sometimes uses her spirit name of Athena. They began the 5th World Journal 16 years ago to document our planet's progress through this shift. They created 5thWorld.com as a place to assemble and publicize the new paradigm for the 5th World. Through map dowsing, Spirit led the two in 1996 to move to Western North Carolina, where they established the Crystal Creek Center. Beginning in 2002, they started working with Barbara Lamb to collect and distribute healing energies from authentic English crop circles. Recently, working in conjunction with Akashic Records consultant Aingeal Rose O'Grady, they began decoding the 101 crop-circle essences they have collected. They set up Touch the Sky Cosmic Energy Essences to distribute these valuable tools for human spiritual evolution, along with their Akashic Record decoding. They set up the 5thWorldFund.org site to coordinate people globally at Full and New moons to collaboratively manifest a better world, using the Great Global Healing Mandala. Currently they are about to release the second edition of their book, Common Sense in Uncommon Times: Survival Techniques for a Changing World The new edition includes material related to global changes and cooperative solutions. The various enterprises related to Earth's planetary shift are assembled at the http://granite-planet.net site. Happy Birthday, Lian! Liz and Monica start the show by wishing youngest sister Lian a happy birthday. She started the day with a mad dash to the drugstore to get Benedryl for her son's bad allergic reaction. Let's hope the day gets better from there. Then discussion turns to Macchu Picchu, malaria pills and more. Monica has a suggestion about carry-on luggage that dumbfounds us (and probably the TSA.) Meanwhile, she waits for the official word that this year she finally DID score the HGTV Dream House! Lian's more focused on winning the Downton Abbey sweepstakes. And Liz wants your suggestions about what she should do on her one day in Mumbai. You heard that right. One day.
It's Lian's birthday! Satellite Sisters Liz and Monica hear how the celebrations began at Lian's house. Love those morning visits to the drugstore! Then news on malaria, Macchu Picchu and more. Monica has one hilarious tip about getting more into your carry-on. Meanwhile, she's waiting to get notified that, yes, she did finally score the HGTV Dream House! Lian's entertaining to win the trip to Downton Abbey. And Liz has one day in Mumbai. What should she do?

Why are sacred sites sacred? Who built them and why? What purpose did they have? What is in common with them? What are Ley Lines and how do they work? What is 2012 and the Mayan calender about? Join Dave Rogers and Mike Handcock (who have trekked and learnt, written and talked about sacred sites together for the past 6 years) for a very special webinar. Dave & Mike will cover the above questions as well as give insights and distinctions into: - Sacred Geometry - The disturbances to our planet of recent times - The great cycle and the Mayan calender - The link between sites in Sumeria, Egypt, Peru, Mexico, China and elsewhere. The correlation of these sites and the energy grid that effects us all. A wonderful hour of distinction, questions answered, spiritual information and nourishment for the soul. If you ever wondered why you were born when you were then this may be the place to find out.
We've spent the last three weeks in Cusco, studying Spanish, enjoying the history, and being frustrated with problems here on the site. we haven't done all the touristy things, but we've been enjoying relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere. Cusco Cusco is incredible. It's supposed to be laid out like a puma, but we haven't really seen it. It's in a valley, with the centre of action as the Plaza de Armas. Up one side of the valley is the hippy district of San Blas, with the head of the puma at the top. That's where the iconic White Christ is situated, with the Sacsaywaman fortress nearby. Food One thing that we love about travel is the food. And Cusco has a lot of it. We enjoyed juice and beer milkshake in the market, lots and lots of menus del dia, and the street food was varied and interesting. It was just sad that we only found that empanada vendor near our school in our last week. Things to do There's heaps to do around Cusco. It's the jumping-off point for Machu Picchu, and if you don't want to pay through the nose, there are lots of other ruins nearby too. We loved Tipon and our visit to the Sacred Valley with our friend Renzo. ATMs We've done a bit of experimenting here in Peru to find the best ATMs. Globalnet is really prevalent, and is often found in shops and hotels, but they have a limit of 400 soles and they charge you on this end to withdraw cash. We like BCP, which has a 700 sol limit and there's one in the Plaza de Armas and one around the corner on Avenida del Sol. School We've been studying at Wiracocha Spanish Language school on Cuesta San Blas, which is situated in the hilly hippie district of San Blas. There's a lot of nice places to stay around here, though the backpacker district is on the other side of the Plaza de Armas. We really enjoyed Cusco, and it's definitely worth a visit. Make sure you see what it has to offer, don't just get caught up in the tourist trail.
