Was steckt hinter Features wie Mega-Merges? Schreibt uns! Do you remember marketing meetups? Not the polished, sponsor-filled kind. I mean the scrappy, “grab a coffee and chat” kind. No agenda. No name tags. Just people who geek out over marketing gathering to swap stories, ideas, and maybe a slice of pizza. Then social media distracted us. It was easier to post on Twitter and LinkedIn from the comfort of your bet then it was to get out of bed and come to a networking even . Then along came COVID... well, it cleared the calendar completely. And somehow, we never bounced back… I missed those conversations. So I posted a note on LinkedIn and Instagram, and an event on : “I'll be at my favorite coffee shop, Friday 3–5. Join me?” No RSVPs, no pressure. Just show up. I was prepared to sit outside enjoy my coffee and read my book, but ... at 3:05, someone showed up. An old friend, I hadn't seen since Covid, then along came someone who used to frequent the marketing meet ups. And that was it. The three of us, two hours, one fantastic conversation about work, marketing trends, life, and everything in between. My two friends had never met, so the connection was a win. Randy, was hoping to find a place to test his stand up comedy, and I got him hooked up. And me, I learned a great way to use Chat GPT to improve my vacation planning. So what did I learn with my little Marketing meetup experiment. I probably need to invite more people directly and send a reminder the day before. But honestly? The magic wasn't in the headcount. It was in the connection. Will I do it again? Absolutely. Before it gets too cold to linger outside with a latte and good company. If you are in Indy, maybe you want to drop by and if it is too long, plan your meet up. Start small and have fun!

Schreibt uns! What if holding just a few “winning” stocks is riskier than it seems? In this episode, Ben and Cameron explore the hidden dangers of concentrated portfolios and unpack the data that makes a strong case for diversification. Drawing from research by Hendrik Bessembinder, J.P. Morgan, and others, Ben lays out the harsh reality behind individual stock returns: the odds are stacked against long-term success. From skewed return distributions and catastrophic losses to behavioral traps like the endowment effect and familiarity bias, this conversation breaks down why most stock pickers lose—and why diversification remains the only “free lunch” in investing. Whether you're holding onto a single stock for tax reasons, overconfidence, or just inertia, this episode is a must-listen reality check on portfolio risk. They also share thoughts on advisor adoption of indexing, the slow shift in Canada, and how a Rational Reminder YouTube video sparked debate between stock pickers and indexers in the comments section. For anyone navigating concentrated positions—voluntarily or otherwise—this episode is packed with data-driven insight and real-world takeaways. Key Points From This Episode: (0:00) Welcome to Episode 363: catching up in person and the value of working together in-office. (24:35) The 2023 study on concentrated stock positions: recent top performers underperform the most. (28:40) How many stocks do you need for real diversification? Way more than 20–30. (32:00) Wealth dispersion and the long-term consequences of concentration. (35:24) Why even 100-stock portfolios only beat the market 47.5% of the time. (36:55) Taxes, control, and psychological hurdles make diversifying even harder. (38:14) Diversification depends on your preference for risk and skewness—but beware the odds. (39:08) Behind the scenes: Ben's research process and content development workflow. (43:14) Ben's guest appearance on Morningstar's The Long View. With Drupal 11.2, SDCs now have a concept of variants, to allow for different ways of presenting a component's information. Some component frameworks like Storybook have a somewhat different concept of variants, which is really a set of property value presets that are useful for testing. Variants with Drupal SDCs strike me as being analogous to view modes for content types, in that you can have separate template files for each variant, or you can have conditional logic within a single template based on the variant in use. Our own nicxvan, chx, and some others put some significant work into allowing preprocess hooks to be defined as OOP classes, which bring us a significant step closer to not needing .module files anymore. Hooks (and .module files) are Drupalisms, so removing the need for them is a big improvement for Developer Experience, and makes it easier for developers to get started with Drupal In Drupal 11.2 the module installer has been updated to only rebuild the container after several modules have been installed, which significantly speeds up installing multiple modules at once. Drupal 11.2 also brings us a Recipe Unpack composer extension, so when you composer require a recipe, the dependencies get automatically added to your site's composer.json file, so you can apply and then remove the recipe and still have a fully functional site Package Manager is now a hidden module in Drupal core, which is critical for initiative like Automatic Updates and Project Browser, that the community has been working on for years Drupal core now also supports the next-generation AVIF format, with WEBP as a fallback with servers that don't support generating them Of course there are also a variety of dependency updates as well, for CKEDitor, Symfony, composer and more, as well as too many minor improvements and bugfixes to cover in detail here

I just got back from PolaCon in New York City, and boy was it refreshing! It's tough when you don't live in a big city or have a big creative community, because you can get stuck in your head. Going to photography meet-ups and events like PolaCon can really help jumpstart your mind and be inspiring. There are so many people out there doing really cool stuff, and the best way to get connected is to just show up to a space IN REAL LIFE and just hang out with people. I highly recommend it.
