(Kejadian 2:15, 19) Renungan: George De Mestral. Mestral adalah seorang insinyur berkebangsaan Swiss. Suatu hari, Mestral berkesempatan menyalurkan hobinya, yaitu berburu. Dia membawa serta anjing pemburunya. Selesai berburu, Mestral pun pulang dengan berjalan kaki melewati sebuah pedesaan. Namun, dia merasa sedikit terganggu di dalam perjalanan itu karena banyak sekali bunga thistle yang menempel di pakaiannya. Bahkan bunga itu juga menempel di bulu anjingnya. Dia mencoba membersihkan pakaiannya, namun tidak bisa bersih sebab beberapa bunga itu masih menempel cukup kuat di pakaiannya. Tiba-tiba muncul keinginan untuk meneliti mengapa bunga itu menempel cukup kuat di pakaiannya. Dalam penelitiannya itu, Mestral menemukan ada bagian dari bunga itu yang melengkung yang membuatnya bisa terkait di suatu tempat. Di sisi lain, ada serat-serat kain di pakaiannya yang memungkinkan bagian bunga yang melengkung itu tersangkut. Demikian juga dengan bulu anjingnya yang berbentuk seperti serabut, memungkinkan bunga itu menempel dengan cukup kuat. Dari sinilah muncul ide untuk membuat pita perekat. "Saya akan merancang sesuatu yang unik, dua sisi benda yang terkait, satu sisi saya buat dengan pengait yang kuat, sisi yang lain saya buat seperti serabut yang lembut," kata Mestral. Mestral menamai benda ciptaannya itu Velcro. Velcro telah dipatenkan pada tahun 1955. Sekarang, produk ini sudah menyebar ke berbagai negara di dunia. Seorang ilmuwan berkata mengenai pendapat kebanyakan orang. "Kebanyakan orang akan berhenti dengan sebuah kekaguman, 'Wah itu keren. Itulah sifat alami benda itu." In this episode of Enterprise, a Vulcan named Mestral who is wearing a beanie plays a game of pool in a bar on Earth in 1957. Mestral breaks, but initially pots no balls. His human opponent sinks a couple in quick succession, leaving Mestral at a strategic disadvantage. However, Mestral recovers rapidly as the table clears, allowing him multiple clear shots. Vor allem Krankenkassen- und Steuerschulden sind ein Problem. Was sind die Gründe? Kiri, Donald, Erika und Fränzi sind berufstätig. Trotzdem leben sie mit Schulden und sie sind keine Ausnahme. Praktisch jede siebte Person in der Schweiz lebt in einem Haushalt mit Zahlungsrückstand. Die meisten Betreibungen werden wegen Krankenkassenprämien eingeleitet, die höchsten Beträge machen Steuerschulden aus. Viele junge Erwachsene wissen nicht, dass ab dem 18. Altersjahr die Krankenkassenbeiträge sehr viel höher sind und dass Steuerrechnungen ein bis zwei Monatslöhne ausmachen. Das führt dazu, dass sie gleich zu Beginn ihres Erwachsenenlebens in die Schuldenfalle geraten. Wieder herauszufinden, ist schwierig. Das zeigt dieser Film. Kiri E. ist 23 und seit der Volljährigkeit überschuldet. Die Fachfrau Kundendialog lebt auf dem Existenzminimum. Sie hat 10'000 Franken Schulden und muss das ändern. Doch wo beginnen? Mit ihrem bescheidenen Teilzeitlohn ist eine Schuldentilgung fast nicht möglich, denn Krankenkassen- und Steuerschulden summieren sich laufend auf. Erika Müller ist heute 35 Jahre alt und hat bereits als 18-Jährige Krankenkassenschulden von ihren Eltern übernommen. Über die Jahre ist sie immer tiefer in die Schulden geraten. Am Schluss war sie mit 50'000 Franken verschuldet und geriet in eine schwere Depression. Überforderung und Scham hielten sie lange davon ab, Hilfe zu suchen. Seit eineinhalb Jahren ist sie nun in einer Schuldensanierung. Franziska Neuhaus weiss ebenfalls, wie lange es geht, bis man wieder schuldenfrei ist. Bei der 39-jährigen Kundenberaterin hat es 20 Jahre gedauert, denn Steuern und Krankenkassenbeiträge wurden auch bei ihr weiter fällig. Daneben noch Rückzahlungen zu leisten, ist für viele Betroffene schwierig bis unmöglich – das hat Franziska Neuhaus selber schmerzlich erfahren. Mit einem Einkommen von knapp 5000 Franken im Monat würde er etwa 20 Jahre brauchen, um den Schuldenberg abzuzahlen. Eine Schuldensanierung ist praktisch unmöglich. Und er ist kein Einzelfall: Die ausstehenden Beträge aus Verlustscheinen betragen in der Schweiz circa 20 Milliarden Franken, nur etwa 17 Prozent dieser Gelder werden effektiv zurückbezahlt.

Es profesora de danza clásica en el elenco “Alas Abiertas” y en DENIDE (Derechos del Niño en Desarrollo), la cual es una asociación sin fines de lucro de la sociedad paraguaya dedicada a brindar atención educativa integral y oportunidades laborales a niños, niñas, jóvenes y adultos con discapacidad intelectual. Fue jurado en diversos certámenes de danza. Y está finalizando la carrera de “Licenciatura en Danza” en el Instituto Superior de Bellas Artes. En el episodio nº 6 les presento recomendaciones claras sobre el uso de las pantallas con niños, la televisión y los dispositivos móviles que todos conocemos. Estas recomendaciones se basan en el programa creado en el 2008 por un psiquiatra francés y doctor en Psicología, Serge Tisseron, con el fin de introducir de forma progresiva y razonada las pantallas en la vida del niño dependiendo de su etapa de desarrollo. I løbet af et øjeblik, af hvad der må have været en mærkelig blanding af frustration og nysgerrighed, fødes der i George de Mestral en strålende idé. Et par årtier senere kender hele verden velcroen. How can we harness and learn from the world around us? Last week, I blogged about the Power of a Question. The question I would ask is, "Has nature found a solution to this problem?" This question opens up a world of action research, and an opportunity to look at the environment in a new way. Below are some great examples of biomimicry in action. Read more examples here. VELCRO: George de Mestral invented Velcro after his dog returned covered in burdock burrs. He looked at them under the microscope and noticed hook-like structures, and after years of experimenting, he patented velcro in 1955. SUPER ADHESIVE: Geckos scale walls and even walk upside down on surfaces using millions of microscopic hairs on their toes. Scientists used this methodology to create an adhesive where an index-card-size strip can hold up to 700 pounds holding promise as a new medical adhesive to replace sutures and staples.
