Audio Ground School by Part Time Pilot
Episode #81: BONUS - Interview with AviationConversations Shannon Torres on Stress

Audio Ground School by Part Time Pilot

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 19, 2024 61:30

Welcome to the Part Time Pilot Audio Ground School Podcast! This podcast is going to be all about providing student pilots with ANOTHER way that they can consume the Private Pilot curriculum. The #1 reason student pilots never end up becoming a private pilot is NOT due to money. The real reason is actually deeper than that. Yes, flight training is expensive. But every student pilot knows this and budgets for it when they decide to do it. The actual #1 reason a student pilot fails is because they do not have a good, fundamental understanding of the private pilot knowledge they are meant to learn in ground school. You see when a student does not have a good grasp of this knowledge they get to a point in their flight training where their mind just can't keep up. They start making mistakes and having to redo lessons. And THAT is when it starts getting too expensive. This audio ground school is meant for the modern day student pilot... aka the part time student pilot. Let's face it, the majority of us have full time responsibilities on top of flight training. Whether it is a job, kids, family, school, etc. we all keep ourselves busy with the things that are important to us. And with today's economy we have to maintain that job just to pay for the training. The modern day student pilot is busy, on the go and always trying to find time throughout his or her day to stay up on their studies. The audio ground school allows them to consume high quality content while walking, running, working out, sitting in traffic, traveling, or even just a break from the boring FAR/AIM or ground school lecture. Did I meant high quality content? The audio ground school is taken straight out of the 5-star rated Part Time Pilot Online Ground School that has had over 350 students take and pass their Private Pilot exams without a SINGLE STUDENT FAILING. We do this by keeping ground school engaging, fun, light and consumable. We have written lessons, videos, audio lessons, live video lessons, community chats, quizzes, practice tests, flash cards, study guides, eBooks and much more. Part Time Pilot was created to be a breath of fresh air for student pilots. To be that flight training provider that looks out for them and their needs. So that is just what we are doing with this podcast.   Episode #81: BONUS Episode with Shannon Torres: In this episode, I interview with Shannon Torres who is the creator of AviationConversations. For some of our bonus episodes I want to start bringing on some guests that have unique expertise and experience that can help out our student pilot listeners... and Shannon is just that! We have a special episode for you today. As we were going back through our archives, I found this interview with Shannon Fable back in 2019 for a separate podcast that I used to run called the FITposium podcast. As I was re-listening to this interview, I realized this was such an in depth, powerful interview about marketing and how we chose to market our brand and services, I knew I needed to share this with you. So, let’s dive in. Shannon Fable is a fitness business consultant and serves as chair of the board for American Council on Exercise’s (ACE). Shannon focuses on business development with fitness brands; she helps them dig into where they want to go, who they think their target market is, and help them develop a strategic plan on how to get there. IN THIS EPISODE How the fitness and health industry has changed in the last 3-5 years. The importance of working from an abundance mentality in this industry. Earning the attention of the audience you’re trying to connect with correctly. Realizing that marketing doesn’t get you clients, it gets you awareness. Why having patience in the sales cycle is key. “When their (the customer’s) level of trust lines up with the value they’re putting on what you’re doing, then they will buy.” Not being afraid to give, give, give, and give in order to build relationships. Why content marketing is crucial. To stop selling out of your own pocket. What to do differently when price is an objection. Why you need to set up a business and offer a variety of services/products. The 3 things you can always monetize: A digital product for passive income A group product A one-on-one coaching product Are you a freelancer or an entrepreneur? How and why you need to get really clear about what you want.  “If you’re not willing to give away your information without fear that giving it away will steal from your potential to monetize what you know, you are not going to make it in this business because people can get that information somewhere else.” Connect with Shannon: Website: www.shannonfable.com/ Instagram: @sfable Share this podcast with a friend and remember to leave a 5-star review! Having Systems in Place Can Ease the Overwhelm Are you overwhelmed with finding time to get all of the things done in your life and business?  Similarly, maybe you've heard about all of these fancy systems and you've read about creating processes, but don't know where or how to begin using them. If you don't have time, to begin with, how do you decide which system you should invest in or what processes to create and implement?  I've asked myself these questions many times and just sat and stared at my computer screen in utter dismay. But Shannon Baker recently shared with me how we can strategically implement systems and processes so that we no longer need to fret about time. Who is Shannon? Shannon is a coffee-loving, serial entrepreneur, podcaster, and business systems coach who helps busy women with service-based businesses create systems to automate the time-consuming tasks required to run a business.  Doing so enables business owners to work more efficiently and have more time for what matters most. Through reading “The Big Leap” by Gay Hendricks and listening to The Mompreneur Mastermind Podcast, Shannon realized her zone of genius, systems, and processes. You Can't Operate Your Business Without Systems If you don't have systems in place, your business is running you.  You started a business for lifestyle freedom but if you are changed to everything in your business, it is not going to thrive the way you want it to.   Likewise, if you have to do everything in your business yourself, it's not going to survive. Shannon's motto is, keep calm and streamline. In other words, move out of chaos and into consistency.  You can't run a business without consistency.  To clarify, systems lead to consistency and consistency leads to happy clients, free marketing, and more referrals. To help her clients do this, Shannon has created her 6 Core Systems Method. The Six Core Systems Are: First, is a Central Filing System Be able to work on the go!  Never miss a deadline. Google Drive One Drive Dropbox Second is a Scheduling System Put boundaries around your schedule and keep your activities segregated to allow for more focus and fewer interruptions. Acuity Dubsado HoneyBook Calendly Third is Communication Inside your business and external potential and current clients Automate responses Email templates Direct Message response templates Fourth is Money Management Track money coming in and going out Spreadsheet Quick Books Keep a pulse on your money – cash flow The fifth is a Back-up System Emergency response system – if something happens to you, someone can step in and keep your business going.
