It was a billed as the biggest sensation of its time in 1986 when famed TV journalist Geraldo Rivera brought us a 2 hour live special all about the infamous Chicago gangster Al Capone and the secret tunnels and vaults discovered beneath one of his old hotels. Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary, MD, is a neurologist, neuroscientist and an internationally recognized expert in the ancient practice of Ayurvedic medicine. She earned her medical degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine; completed her internship at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and neurology residency at University of California San Diego (UCSD). Chaudhary is the author of “The Prime” (Penguin Random House, 2016) and “Sound Medicine” (Harper Collins, 2020); is a pioneer in the field of integrative medicine and is a highly sought-after speaker, researcher and adviser for Healthy Directions. She is the former director of Wellspring Health in Scripps Memorial Hospital, where she successfully combined conventional treatments with Ayurvedic practices of detoxification, diet and lifestyle management to help patients effectively manage chronic neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and migraine headaches. Her program was so successful that it is now used for a wide range of health concerns, including weight issues and chronic disease. Through her integrative approach, Chaudhary teaches her patients about the connection between mind, body and spirit, which impacts every aspect of health both physically and mentally. Chaudhary also has extensive media experience including being a regular medical contributor for “The Dr. Oz Show.”LEARN MORE: https://drkulreetchaudhary.com/ADDITIONAL INFO (some in interview, some not) The Ayurvedic diet is tailored toward your dosha type, and some of the recommendations can shift with the season or as you age because your dosha can change during these times. Your dosha type will either be a vata, pitta, kapha or a combination of these and the beauty of an Ayurvedic diet is that it doesn't have to be done all at once.Helpful tips based on your dosha type to improve digestion: Vatas should take a stroll after eating: A brief, relaxing 5–15-minute walk will ground you and help to pull vata dosha types downward to support healthy digestion. Pittas go green: Pitta dosha types tend to favor certain fruits and vegetables over others and should minimize the consumption of sour and salty foods, acidic foods and beverages and meats. Kaphas spice it up: Kapha dosha types should consume spicy and bitter tastes, room temperature or hot beverages, honey and ghee in moderation and warm, cooked foods.Practice intermittent fasting: your gut needs a break to stay efficient, and your body detoxes and repairs overnight. Fasting during sundown honors your circadian rhythms. This automatically generates more energy and greater mental clarity, allowing you to jump out of bed feeling fresh and vibrant each morningThe Power of Mantra: There is an Ayurvedic proverb, “What you eat becomes your mind.” What this means is that your food influences everything about your mind—the way you think as well as your clarity, mood and memory. The foods we drink and the beverages we consume become a part of who we are and the impact that has on not only our brain, but our gut microbiome shapes the health of every organ in our body.

Who would have guessed that the disbandment of the Knights Templar in 1309 would have led to centuries of people scrambling to lay claim to their legacy as descendants of the legendary order of Catholic knights? With a lot of mysticism borrowed from a dozen different spiritual movements, including Christianity, Rosicrucianism, and perhaps a smidge of white supremacy, The Order of the Solar Temple aspired to attain the ultimate spiritual nexus in the hopes of riding out a coming apocalypse, but as most movements of this type tend to do, it took around a decade before it all crumbled into a heap of crime, murder, and mass suicide that spanned across three countries.Learn more about this still very mysterious cult, as well as how affluence-bred boredom can be particularly detrimental to societies at large.Additional Info:https://www.encyclopedia.com/science/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/di-mambro-joseph-1924-1994https://www.ranker.com/list/order-of-the-solar-temple-cult/amandasedlakhevenerhttps://www.nytimes.com/1994/10/09/world/a-preacher-with-a-dark-side-led-cultists-to-swiss-chalets.html?pagewanted=allhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Solar_TempleSponsor: Local Hero Press https://localheropress.com/ Man of the YearWhatever happened to friendship? 49% of Americans report having three or fewer close...Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifyShow Credits:Graphics -- Nathaniel Dickson: http://ndickson.comMusic -- Spencer Morelock, Ken DicksonDing Dong Darkness Time Media:Twitter: @dddarknesstimeInstagram: dddarknesstimeGmail: dddarknesstime@gmail.com

This is audio from RQM+ Live! #61, recorded 13 October, 2022. To join us live for future shows and ask your own questions, please view and sign up for upcoming events in the Knowledge Center at our website. Each year RQM+ supports hundreds of FDA 510(k)'s and EU technical documentation files for either medical devices containing software or stand-alone software devices. In this show our regulatory experts will discuss both FDA and EU deficiencies and additional information requests associated with software (real case studies), as well as best practices and solutions to avoid these pain points in your submissions. Devices and challenges discussed included: Artificial Intelligence (AI) machine learning and acceptability of change control plans Defining proprietary algorithms and controlling changes in those algorithms Cybersecurity implementation and alignment with ISO 14971 (Risk management) Lack of information on connected devices Aligning terminology and documentation across various requirements and processes (AGILE, ISO 62304, QSR, MDR, IVDR) Off-the-shelf software and expectations for verification and validation testing. Panelists: Allison Komiyama, Ph.D., RAC - Regulatory Consultant at RQM+ and former President and Founder of AcKRS Kevin Go, MBA, RAC, CQA - Senior Principal, Regulatory and Quality Practice, RQM+ Hrishkesh Gadagkar - Principal Engineer, RQM+ Questions with timestamps: 2:55 -- Setting the scene with definitions... what is software as a medical device and how is it defined between the EU and the United States? 3:54 -- What are the main challenges of software from a demonstration of compliance / regulatory perspective? 9:04 -- What are some best practices for creating software documents to avoid deficiencies? 12:21 -- What are you seeing? Are you seeing significant differences between what the EU and FDA are asking for? 18:29 -- What are the regulation standards and documentation requirements for cybersecurity? 23:51 -- If software developers define user stories as their starting point, are additional dedicated software requirements needed? 26:48 -- We are talking about what is needed to make notified bodies or FDA happy... however, the killer point is getting the software engineers into a practical management of requirements, unit, integration testing, etc. 37:00: -- Does a manufacturer need to audit its cloud provider? 39:00 -- Regarding the responsibilities, when a software device is sold and installed in a hospital or a clinical institute, if the software device is disconnected from the Internet and could not perform the functions as designed, who should be responsible for the impact on the patient? The hospital or the manufacturer? Same question: what if the device was hacked? 43:25 -- You just mentioned the connection between SRS and SDS... is traceability between requirements and design critical in your opinion? It seems desirable as it helps add clarity and understanding for the reviewer but also relative to the quality of the design process. Traceability to verification (requirements to verification) is critical, but wondering about requirement to design. 46:24 -- What have you been seeing with AI and machine learning? 52:50 -- What about wearables and AI / machine learning? 55:42 -- Do you have a final piece of advice for our listeners or top tip? --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/deviceadvice/message

Everything's Eventual, y'all. Including the ultimate ending of our Stephen King Boogaloo! But Allison and Chris want to go out on a haunting note, so they decided to pluck their two favorite stories from King's celebrated short story collection, Everything's Eventual. While the entire catalog is worth celebrating, these are two key stories that we think go very well together, especially as they were both mentioned in King's fantastic non-fiction book, On Writing. In The Man in the Black Suit, King flexes his literary fiction muscles to the tune of winning an O. Henry Award and other major accolades in a story about a young boy who goes to the river to do a little fishing and ends up meeting the devil. And in 1408, the ultimate haunted hotel story, a man's skepticism about ghosties and ghoulies is put to the ultimate test with a bad acid trip/fever dream experience that has lived rent-free in our heads ever since we read it. The movie starring John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson is also well worth a watch. We give you the scoop on a lot of the interesting trivia you might have missed.Additional Info:80s High Podcast: https://the80shigh.podbean.com/Credits:Show Art -- Nathaniel Dickson http://ndickson.comMusic -- Spencer MorelockDing Dong Darkness Time Media:Twitter: @dddarknesstimeInstagram: dddarknesstimeGmail: dddarknesstime@gmail.com
Back in October of 2021, before the dawn of the Darkness Time, Allison visited the 80s High podcast to talk with Ben and Chris about Stephen King's mega-monster of a tome, IT. We also dove into the movie franchises, the origins of clowns-as-horror-tropes, HP Lovecraft, and so much more. This is not only a great opportunity to stuff your head full of knowledge on one of Stephen King's most famous works, but especially to get to know one of the best podcasts out there. We promise there won't be a pop quiz, but it never hurts to study!Additional Info:80s High Podcast: https://the80shigh.podbean.com/Credits:Show Art -- Nathaniel Dickson http://ndickson.comMusic -- Spencer MorelockDing Dong Darkness Time Media:Twitter: @dddarknesstimeInstagram: dddarknesstimeGmail: dddarknesstime@gmail.com

In this episode, we talked about the upcoming SEA Games that will be held in Vietnam next month and our first game is on May 9th! In the Asian Cup, our goal was to qualify for the World Cup which we did and the ladies did very well, which made us all very proud. Not only is this Southeast Asian Games serving as a preparation for The World Cup but in my opinion would be a great opportunity to prove to our neighbours that what happened in India was not just luck. We will be in group A with the reigning SEA Games Champion, Vietnam. They're the powerhouse, they're the host nation. They've won gold since 2017 and many times before that if not silver. Originally, Indonesia was in our group as well but they withdrew and the 3rd team in the group is Cambodia. In Group B, the other 2 powerhouses are Thailand and Myanmar together with Laos and Singapore. Singapore has been doing quite a preparation recently with some friendlies and they are currently in Thailand for camp. We've only recently won against Thailand in the Asian Cup after more than a decade but we haven't defeated Myanmar. Historically, our record against Myanmar included a thrashing of 6-0, 5-1 until we started closing that gap in 2018 in the AFF, 0-4 and in 2019, we played against them 3x in the AFF Championship, we lost 3-0, in the SEA Games group stage, 0-0 and in that heartbreaking 3rd place match in Rizal, 2-1. We'll have Ivan and Kent in this episode. Ivan Gayares is a Philippine Football Commentator and he used to be the Head of Media and Marketing of the former Ceres-Negros FC. Going by the current pricing trends, good breeds are readily available in the price range of $80-$120. If somebody is asking for more, don't hesitate in asking the reason behind the high price. The location of the seller also contributes to the pricing factor. For instance, if the seller is running a store in a mall, chances are the ferret offered by him will be in the mid to upper range. Additional Info about ferret price

VH & C Mushrooms Provide a smooth, vitalizing influence, delivering 5-6 hours of calm, sustained energy with each dose. 2-3 caps in the morning and again in the early afternoon provides energetic support for the whole day, leaving you with energy left over at the end of the day. Contains several adaptogenic herbs which provide immune and hormone balancing influences along with a general strengthening of the whole the body. Our job is not to target diseases or micromanage specific chemical reactions or hormone levels. Our job is simply to nourish the body with a complete spectrum of the kinds of foods that it will recognize as "real food". Real food is that which is compatible with the organic nature of the body's original construction. The human body is a natural organism. It was created from the "dust (or clay) of the earth". Therefore, the perfect food for the body will also be of earthen origin ─ unaltered. Earthen resources that qualify as real food include such things as clay, water, algae, seaweeds, herbs, fruits, nuts, seeds, and vegetables. Anything less than whole would not be a "real food". This includes "natural" vitamin and mineral supplements assembled by a laboratory rather than by Nature. Our job is not to try to improve on Nature with our so-called "science", our job is merely to provide the body with an abundance of real food and let the body decide what to do with it. Earthen resources contain a vast array of nutrient-based building blocks for the body to select from in order to construct its own medicines.Again, this entire process is performed, not by our manipulation of chemical reactions, but through our support of the body's own inherent wisdom. Ingredients: 7 Mushroom Blend (Chaga, Cordyceps, Lion's Mane, Maitake, Reishi, Agarikon, Turkey Tail), Bringraj, Ginger, Ashwagandha, Brahmi, Codonopsis, Coriander, Damiana, Devil's Club, Hawthorn Berry, Ho Shou Wu, Jatoba, Licorice Root, Nettle Root, Rhodiola Rosea, Sarsaparilla, Schizandra Berry, Shatavari, Wild Yam Root, Wood Betony, Ancient Plant Minerals, Borage, Eleuthero Root, Jiaogulan, Nettle Leaf, Suma Root, Laminaria Juice, Humic & Fulvic Earth, Ormalite All of our product ingredients are whole earthen in nature, and are sourced in this order of priority: wildcrafted, organic, or grown without chemicals. We do not add fillers, excipients, or flow agents. Our capsules are vegetarian sourced from pine bark. Recommended Low-Level Use: 1 teaspoon (4 capsules) 2 times per day in food, water, smoothie or SumaRaj tea. Recommended High-Level Use: 1-2 teaspoons (4-8 capsules) 2-3 times per day. Additional Info & FAQs: Other herbs in Adaptogen & Mushroom Blend help to improve endurance, better performance, an increase in repetitions, superior oxygen utilization, faster workout recovery, and accelerated tissue rebuilding following stressful workouts. Improves mental concentration, meditation, chi gong or martial art practices, sustained mental focus during a busy workday in the office and extended endurance for those with physically demanding jobs. Allows you to work a long day and still have energy left over at the end of the day, improving the quality of time spent with friends and loved ones after work. Long term usage gradually builds health and stamina due to the formula's nourishing influences upon the kidney jing (an energy more subtle and more foundational to overall health than the chi). Nourishes the body's immune system and cardiovascular system as well, strengthening the overall physical constitution, improving resistance to health compromises, while helping to restore greater youth and vitality. It's no surprise that there is a virtual treasure-trove of content for us to ridicule in the comments of basically any online post, but this time we share how some comments are demonstrative of a larger social issue. ★ ARTIST ★ De Kunstenaar (Netherlands) ✫ SUPPORT ✫ @dekunstenaar http://www.de-kunstenaar.nl/ ✫ FACEBOOK ✫ https://www.facebook.com/dekunstenaarmixes ★ ADDITIONAL INFO ★ "De Kunstenaar" is the Dutch term for "The Artist". But why did he choose De Kunstenaar as his name? That’s because of his second hobby - which is that he likes to paint. Music is art too, so here we are. De Kunstenaar started creating tribute mixtapes, mainly to expand his mixing capabilities to the fullest - and to be clear, meaning no offence to the artists - it was not his intention to make the audience think these mixes were made by the artist(s) themselves. It's disappointing not every artist sees it like this. Well, his life certainly is a 4-beat loop: Eat, Work, Love, Sleep. And this in repeat mode. Most mixes by "De Kunstenaar" are based on a 4-beat loop, because that is so nice and easy for the brain to listen to. His love for electronic music started when he first entered a club called Zillion, in Antwerp (Belgium) back in 1999 or 2000. He admired the DJs that played there - and all he could do was dream about standing behind those decks himself one day - no matter how much effort it would cost. Of course Tiësto was his great inspirer in those days :) Besides his hobby mixes which you will find here , "De Kunstenaar" also has a fulltime job at the office - a warm house - a baby girl - and a caring and loving wife. He also likes to paint once in a while. You can view some of the paintings he has made at his facebook page. Download for free on The Artist Union

Additional Info: 1. Understand your client The starting point for being able to add value to your client relationships has to be gaining a clear understanding of your client, their business, and their personal and business goals. It is also vital to understand what they currently value from their service relationship with you. 2. Make it clear and easy to do business with you At the start of any transaction with a client, you should ensure that there is complete clarity between both parties with regards to the scope, delivery and form of the service to be provided. The aim is to make it as easy as possible for your clients to do business with you. For many firms there has been a reluctance to provide this information in the necessary detail. The core information to be communicated to the client should include: • the scope of the core work to be undertaken by the firm; • the scope of the work to be carried out by the client to enable the firm to carry out its work; • the timeframe for the project as a whole and any interim timelines that need to be achieved including any progress reporting; • who will be carrying out the work on the part of the firm and their contact details; • what will be the outputs from the work and how it will be delivered (i.e., documentation and what format it will take - digital or hard copy); • the core fee for the work to be done and the basis upon which any expenses are to be charged; • how any additional work that is necessary outside the core work will be communicated to the client, agreed and billed. 3. Keep your promises Meeting deadlines plays a vital role in developing the level of trust upon which successful relationships so strongly depend. All too often in an attempt to impress clients or add value to a relationship, promises are made to clients that are unrealistic and, as a consequence, expectations are not met. Avoid agreeing to or imposing unrealistically tight deadlines on yourself or your team which cannot be met. Seek to do the reverse, under-promise and over-deliver. This creates a most positive impression in clients’ minds because it is so rare. It gives a real opportunity to add value and impress. Where you know you cannot satisfy a commitment you have made to a client for whatever reason, flag it up to them as soon as possible. Don’t delay and always offer a revised solution. 4. Be proactive When you contact your client about matters that concern them that are outside of the routine transactions you are contracted to provide, this will be a clear demonstration that you care about them and their business. It shows you are always looking to act in their best interests. This has a high propensity to be seen as adding value to the relationship for many clients. A lack of proactive advice from their accountants is another primary source of dissatisfaction highlighted in recent small business surveys. 5. Train your client’s team and your own team The firm that seeks opportunities to help their client’s team to become more skilled in their roles, even in skills that they are currently engaging you to provide, will again encourage those clients to view you more as a long-term business partner rather than merely as a provider of technical expertise. Additional Info: 9 Cold Calling Tips for Introverts 1. Don’t Ignore your Anxiety It’s OK to be nervous and feel uncomfortable with making a cold call. Lots of people do. Ignoring that feeling with only make your call more challenging. Instead, acknowledge your fear and ask yourself what’s the worst thing that could happen. The worst thing is probably that you’ll be rejected. Although this might be uncomfortable, you would still live through it. Addressing these feelings instead of simply brushing them off will give you the power to conquer your anxiety about cold calling and start with a more relaxed approach. 2. Do your Research Just because it’s a cold call doesn’t mean it has to be a blind call. Do your research before jumping in. Know your target audience as well as you can. Know what they have purchased on the past, what they’re looking for, and what’s important to them. Having insight into this information will help you to be a more convincing sales person. But even more than that, it will help you to mentally prepare for the call. By knowing your target inside and out, you’ll encounter fewer surprises and be better prepared for how to handle their questions. So remember, not only will doing your research help increase your likelihood of making a sale, it’ll also help you feel better about having to make the cold call in the first place. 3. Build your Script For introverts, scripts are everything. Sure, you definitely don’t want to read directly from a script, but it is nice to have one laid out to help guide you if you get nervous or stuck. When building a script, here are a few tips to keep in mind: Don’t write it out word-for-word. Writing out a script word for word is never a good idea. When you’re nervous you’ll use it as a crutch and read it verbatim, leading you to sound somewhat robotic. Instead, stick to main points and lists, rather than full paragraphs. Keep it short. You can always elaborate on points as you see fit or as the prospect asks you questions. It’s better to keep your initial script short and to-the point. Grab their attention. Much like writing a story, you need to get the prospect’s attention right off the bat. They’ll start to tune you out after a few seconds if you don’t, so make sure you really open with a bang. Keep it personal. Take a moment to ask the prospect about themselves and what they’re looking for and then customize your approach accordingly. 4. Practice Makes Perfect If you’re uncomfortable with cold calling, practicing will help you perfect your approach. Get front of a mirror, or even pick up your phone and pretend you’re speaking to someone. Once you get comfortable, then pick up the phone and contact your first prospect. 5. Don’t Try to Be an Extrovert You’re not an extrovert, so mimicking one won’t sound natural, and therefore likely won’t result in any sales. Instead of trying to be outgoing, which will come off as insincere, be yourself. 6. Focus the Attention on the Caller Introverts are usually uncomfortable talking about themselves. Luckily, when it comes to sales, there’s no need to. You can focus all of your attention on the caller. Once you’ve got their attention, focus on what they’re looking for and how your product or service can fit their needs. Additionally, people tend to be friendlier when they’re talking about themselves, so getting the prospect to open up a bit will help both your sales and make you feel more at ease during your cold call. 7. Use Referrals and Common Connections One way to improve your odds of making a sale is to find some sort of common connection to mention. With LinkedIn and other social networking sites, this process of finding a common connection is simple for introverts. Mentioning a reference or name dropping can go a long way, especially when you’re not very comfortable making the call. 8. Leave Voicemails More often than not, you’ll be reaching someone’s voicemail. When this happens, introverts might be tempted to say “Whew” and simply hang up. Instead, fight that urge and leave a voicemail. This is also a great time to throw in a common connection of some sort, if at all possible. That will dramatically increase the odds of the person returning your call. 9. Keep Track of your Progress The only way to gauge improvement is to track your progress. With a nine percent success rate, if you’re not too far off from this number than don’t blame your introversion. Instead, have a realistic understanding on what you can expect. That said, your numbers should only improve as you perfect your skills. But the only way you’ll see this is if you track them. If you haven't joined my #ATSBusinessUniversity community, you need to jump on it ASAP!
