Tenderclaws debuted their first piece in competition at SXSW with a short called FACE JUMPING, which was a surreal, seemingly open world experience with a number of interactive experiments leveraging eye tracking in novel ways. Tenderclaws has consistently pushed the edges of locomotion in everyone of their interactive narratives, and FACE JUMPING is no exception. If you lock eyes with another character for long enough, and you'll have an opportunity to swap perspectives with them, which allows you to progress through various different vignettes. There's a deeply poetic story that's unfolding, but I found that I needed a lot of decoding of the dream logic, metaphors, and allegories within my conversation with Samantha Gorman and Danny Cannizaro. But it's the type of experience that I wanted to play again and again to continue to explore this world, and all of the novel eye tracking experiments that I missed. FACE JUMPING was my second favorite piece of the festival, and it ended up winning the Audience Award for the SXSW XR Experience Competition, and it was also one of the hottest tickets during the festival. The Polyphonic Spree band founder Tim Delaughter was looking for innovative ways to get people to listen to the entirety of his latest album called Salvage Enterprise. He was driving around a lot of speakers in his van and setting up pop-up listening parties around his home town when he thought there should be a better way to coax people into listening to his entire album, which is something that's a lot more rare in today's fragmented media ecosystem. He worked with Scott Berman as his long-time collaborator on visuals to recruit a number of different animators and filmmakers to create a dome version featuring his entire album called RESOLUTION: A CINEPHONIC RHAPSODY FOR THE SOUL. It's the first time SXSW has been able to curate a dome experience (which showed on the main showroom floor), and it was one of the experiences that was able to quickly fill up their 20 available slots per hour across their six showings a day. It ended up taking home the Audience Award for the XR Experience Spotlight, and was one of the hotter tickets of the exhibition with people rushing to sign up as soon as the doors opened. I had a chance to speak with Director Scott Berman, Polyphonic Spree Founder Tim Delaughter, and Producer Ryan Hartsell about the process of putting this dome experience together. In this special episode of Rock is Lit, veteran rocker and author Elliott Murphy talks about and shares an excerpt from his novel ‘Marty May'. Once a rising rock star in 1970s New York, virtuoso guitarist Marty May has lost it all—his career, his marriage, and his record deal. Now, at 33, he's alone, drowning in debt, and questioning his future. Should he return to his blues roots with his old mentor, Blind Red Rose? Set in the 1980s, when the music industry prioritized business over artistry, ‘Marty May' is a poignant tale of talent, temptation, and staying true to one's beliefs—elegant and tragic, like ‘The Great Gatsby' in the age of rock 'n' roll. Living in Paris for 30 years as an expatriate New Yorker, Elliott Murphy remains as active as ever in music and literature. With over 35 albums to his name, he continues to tour worldwide while earning critical acclaim. His debut album, ‘Aquashow' (1973), launched a celebrated career that includes ‘Lost Generation', ‘Night Lights' (featuring Billy Joel), and ‘Selling The Gold' (featuring Bruce Springsteen). In 2016, a biopic on his career, ‘The Second Act Of Elliott Murphy', won the Audience Award at the Dock of the Bay Film Festival. Born into a show business family, Elliott began his career as a troubadour in Europe before securing a U.S. record deal. Alongside his music, he is a prolific author, publishing four novels, including the rock trilogy ‘Marty May', ‘Tramps', and ‘Diamonds By The Yard', as well as ‘Poetic Justice'. His short story “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” was adapted into the 2020 film ‘Broken Poet', in which he stars alongside Michael O'Keefe, Marisa Berenson, and a rare cameo appearance by Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa. In recognition of his artistic contributions, Elliott was named a Chevalier des Arts et Lettres by the French Minister of Culture in 2015 and inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2018. Songwriting saved Fimone's life, but before music became the outlet for her that it is today, she struggled with addiction, trauma, and the overwhelming journey of self-acceptance. In this episode of Rooted Recovery Stories, Fimone opens up about her path from growing up in rural Minnesota to navigating the complexities of identity, addiction, and ultimately, healing. She shares how unhealthy relationships, a near-death experience, family, and the pressures of being an independent artist shaped her, and how music became her way of processing emotions she didn't know how to express. We dive into the highs and lows of her career, the reality of sobriety, and the powerful lessons she's learned along the way. It's Tuesday, Indie Film Lovers, and you know that means a new podcast is out! This particular interview was two years in the making! How so? Regina Pigsley and I had set a time to record this, either in person or Zoom, so many times since her film “The Phoenix” screened at Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2022 (where she won Outstanding Director – Drama & Audience Award - Best Short Film – Drama) that we both thought that we were recording her second appearance on Discover Indie Film. But noooo... thorough research proves that Regina has not been on the podcast before! It might be because we had another great festival Q&A six months later when she brought her revamped college film “Matched” to Film Invasion Los Angeles in 2023, taking home an Audience Award for Best Short Film - SciFi. But our shared false memory that Regina had done a Discover Indie Film podcast is no longer relevant because we DID record this podcast! In this episode of Successful Musicians, we are joined by Will and Brooke Blair, a brother duo known for their work in the world of film and TV scoring. They share their journey, offer practical advice for musicians, and discuss how they've adapted to the fast-paced demands of the industry. They are long-term collaborators with director Jeremy Saulnier, scoring his first feature, “Murder Party,” which won the Slamdance 2007 Audience Award.  Brooke and Will Blair's music enhances the emotional and narrative depth of the projects they work on, making them a sought-after duo in the industry. What You'll Learn The Blair brothers' unique journey into the film and TV scoring world. How scoring for different genres pushes them creatively and keeps their work fresh. The importance of collaboration and building strong relationships in the industry. Practical advice for musicians working under tight deadlines. Things We Discussed Will and Brooke emphasize the importance of mastering your tools when working in film and television scoring. Deadlines are tight, and musicians need to be fast, efficient, and decisive. Brooke advises musicians to get better at their tools, whether it's recording, mixing, or any other technical aspect of music production. In addition, the brothers share valuable advice on maintaining a healthy work-life balance. After years of experience, they've learned the importance of setting boundaries and making time for family, even in a demanding field like film composition. Will and Brooke emphasize that it's not about working long hours—it's about making the hours you work count. Set in the 1990s, it follows an FBI agent tasked with tracking down an occultist serial killer responsible for murdering multiple families throughout the state of Oregon, without having been physically present in the crimes. Cage also served as a producer on the film through his Saturn Films production company. Longlegs was released in the United States by Neon on July 12, 2024. It received critical acclaim and grossed $108.9 million worldwide, becoming Neon's highest-grossing film to date domestically, as well as the highest-grossing independent film of the year.[5] In 1974 Oregon, a young girl with a Polaroid camera follows a mysterious voice and encounters an erratic man in pale makeup. In the 1990s, FBI agent Lee Harker, who exhibits possible clairvoyance, is assigned by her supervisor William Carter to a case involving a series of murder–suicides in Oregon. Each case involves a father killing his family and himself, leaving behind a letter with Satanic coding signed "Longlegs", whose handwriting belongs to none of the family members. Lee discovers that each family had a nine-year-old daughter born on the 14th of the month, the murders all occurred within six days before or after the birthday itself, and the murders form an occult triangle symbol on a calendar, with one date missing. While talking to her mother Ruth, Lee receives a coded birthday card from Longlegs, warning her that revealing the source of the code will lead to her mother's murder. Oddity is a 2024 Irish horror film[4] written and directed by Damian McCarthy. It follows a blind medium and curio shopkeeper who is still grieving the death of her twin sister a year prior when a wooden mannequin from her collection becomes crucial to her quest to uncover the truth about her sister's murder. The film premiered at South by Southwest on 8 March 2024, where it won the Audience Award in the Midnighter section of the festival. It was released in Ireland and the United Kingdom on 30 August 2024. Alone one night, Dani Odello-Timmis, the wife of psychiatrist Ted Timmis, is brutally murdered while renovating the couple's newly acquired country house. Olin Boole, one of Ted's former patients, visited Dani that evening, warning her that a stranger had infiltrated the home. Olin is ultimately convicted of the crime, and is later found murdered in his room in the psychiatric hospital. One year later, Dani's twin sister Darcy Odello, a blind clairvoyant with psychometric powers, is visited by Ted at her Cabinet of Curiosities shop in Cork, and the two make plans to visit again. Several days later, Darcy arrives unexpectedly at the country house where Ted now resides with his new girlfriend Yana, a pharmaceutical representative. Preceding Darcy's arrival is the shipment of a large crate containing a strange life-sized wooden mannequin. Plot[edit]

LITTLE BROTHER stars Daniel Diemer (UNDER THE BRIDGE), Phillip Ettinger (FIRST REFORMED), and Academy Award-winner J.K.
