The Avatar has returned… again! In this episode of KDTime, we're diving into the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender (Netflix) and comparing it to the beloved animated classic Avatar: The Last Airbender (Nickelodeon). I'll run down the casting and visual effects as well as the storytelling changes and character adaptations. I break down what worked, what didn't, and whether the live-action version successfully captured the spirit of the original. But of course this is all opinion based. So while there were a few grievances along the way, the overall verdict is positive as I discuss the impressive world-building, bending effects, and the potential for what's next. Plus, with Season 2 arriving TODAY on June 25, 2026, and bringing Team Avatar into the Earth Kingdom alongside fan-favorite Toph, the future looks promising for the series. I just hope Toph was worth the wait.Join me as I compare two versions of one of the most beloved animated shows of all time and answer the big question: Was the live-action adaptation able to live up to the legend?
The X in GenX stands for eXtremely cool. ‘The American Experiment' is a 5-part documentary premiering today on Netflix. The newest Avatar movies is now on Disney+. ‘The Sheep Detective' is on Amazon. Matty's gonna watch the new Burning Man documentary. Jack White's wife filed for divorce. Breaking news: The Bay Area woman from the billboard has FOUND LOVE! But, was it even thanks to the billboard? Plus, the worst first names you've ever heard.
Hour 1: A former child actor is hustling to make ends meat - leave him alone! The Jackass crew created a constellation. One guess at the shape of it. Steve-O has got to be rich for all the crap he's done… right?! Vinnie is hyper aware of his age this week. Choose one: more money, more luck, more athleticism, more attractiveness, OR slower aging. People were crawling on everything possible at the Knicks parade. One particular fan decided she needed to take a trashcan home with her, and another used dance to stop a fight. Hour 2: The X in GenX stands for eXtremely cool. Hour 3: It's time for our generational trivia challenge! Deepak is here for GenX. He was able to make time for Sarah and Vinnie since he's recovering from surgery. BUT can he beat Emily, playing for the Zillennials? This week is truly anybody's game. It's a major news break! Vinnie is updating us in real time on NorCal's earthquake. Applebee's iconic Dollaritas are BACK this summer! M&Ms are going natural. If you were a rockstar, what would be on your rider? EBikes and scooters are getting new rules in The Bay. Hour 4: Olivia Rodrigo opens up about her jealousy of other women. Taylor Swift held onto the #1 spot of the Hot 100 this week. That's okay, because every single song off of Olivia's new album is charting. Speaking of Taylor, she supported Travis Kelce and Tight End University last night by taking the stage with Lainey Wilson. Vinnie questions Bob about Susan performing at their wedding. A lady invited strangers to her birthday party in the park - and they came! Vinnie reflects on his days without GPS. Spoiler Alert: Sarah wins!
Same presentation. Same offer. Same you. $91,000 in sales. Two weeks later with a different audience? $4,000. In this solo episode of The Expert Edge, I break down the insight that separates six-figure coaches from seven-figure coaches: the price you charge is based less on what you do and more on who you serve. This isn't about changing your offer or tweaking your funnel. It's about understanding that a psychologist charging per hour makes $250-$350. The same person doing emotional release work with an upleveled avatar charges $50K per package. Same work. Different avatar. 100X different price. Most coaches obsess over their product. "How do I improve my course?" "What sales funnel works better?" They're focused on the wrong thing. The real leverage is identifying your upleveled avatar and understanding what problems they actually have. What you'll learn: → Price is determined by who you serve, not what you offer - Two people doing identical work charging 10X different prices based on avatar → Higher level avatars have higher level problems - Beginners ask "What's a lead magnet?" High-level clients ask "How do I own market leadership?" (premium problems = premium prices) → Beginners require volume, premium clients don't - One $50K client is easier to work with than ten $5K clients and takes action faster → Different avatars have different desires - Beginners want their first $10K. Upleveled avatars want market leadership and multi-six to seven-figure businesses → Why resourcefulness is the real differentiator - Beginners are less resourceful because they haven't developed the internal mechanisms to push through hard things Real insights from the episode: The $91K vs $4K story - same presentation, same offer, different audience, wildly different results Why beginners are "stuck" - they're still dealing with foundational problems (foundational problems don't pay premium prices) The woman in my Platinum group who left a "high-level" program because everyone was asking basic questions like "What's a lead magnet?" Why you shouldn't focus only on the lowest common denominator (beginners) The emotional release work example: $250-$350/hour as a psychologist vs $50K packages with upleveled avatar Higher level problems: team problems, profitability problems, scaling problems, system problems, market leadership The consistency difference: Beginners making $3K one month and $20K the next (chaos). Premium clients with stable recurring revenue Why premium clients are easier to work with - they're resourceful, know what they want, and take action How to identify what problems your upleveled avatar actually has Building specific products for different avatar levels (not everyone joins high-level programs) If you're running an established expert business doing $300K+ (or aiming there), Platinum is our highest-level mastermind. It's for people ready to build a highly profitable, 2-3 million dollar business with a small team, full lifestyle, and zero complexity. Ilies Larbi is the founder and CEO of Ouinex, a multi-asset trading platform built to fuse crypto and traditional markets in a single account while shielding retail traders from the structural disadvantages of conventional order books. A nearly fifteen-year veteran of New York-based forex broker FXCM, where he climbed from sales associate to Managing Director for Europe and a seat on the executive committee, the Paris-based Larbi stepped into crypto in 2022 — late by bull-run standards, as he admits, but with a clear view of the gap he wanted to fill. Why you should listen Larbi's central argument lands with a memorable image: most crypto exchanges drop retail traders into a tank full of sharks. His culprit is the central limit order book, which works beautifully in regulated venues like the NYSE where institutions compete against each other, but breaks down in crypto, where a trader tapping orders from their phone over café Wi-Fi sits on the same book as a high-frequency desk running millions in low-latency infrastructure around the clock. That asymmetry, he argues, is why retail traders so often see stop losses picked off and price action that feels suspiciously erratic. Ouinex's answer is a no-CLOB execution model: institutions are still welcome to provide liquidity, but they're allowed only to make markets, never to take them, and they get zero visibility into where retail orders are resting since those sit on Ouinex's own servers. The result is a kind of Chinese wall, with liquidity providers forced to compete purely on the best bid and ask while an aggregator passes only the sharpest prices through to traders. Ouinex lets users trade spot crypto and perpetuals alongside forex, gold, indices and equities, using their crypto as collateral rather than cashing out to fiat — and crucially, it routes the TradFi side through hundred-year-old market infrastructure rather than rebuilding it as a thin perpetual. Larbi makes the case with hard numbers, contrasting a euro-dollar or gold trade on Ouinex against the same instrument as a perp on a venue like Hyperliquid, where he claims spreads run several times wider, commissions stack on top, and the order book is far shallower. He also points to early evidence that the multi-asset thesis is working: as geopolitics roiled markets, his traders moved record volume into oil and gold while waiting for crypto to get interesting again, exactly the cross-market hedge the platform was designed to enable. Larbi raised nine million dollars entirely from his own trading community — much of it the French-speaking InteractivTrading community — with no venture capital on the cap table, which he argues leaves the platform answerable to its users rather than to investors holding a bag of future tokens. That native token, OUIX, is heading to an ICO via the company's launchpad, pitched as a low-sell-pressure utility play with fee discounts and trading cashback. He's candid that the product is still maturing, urging listeners to test it on a demo account with virtual funds and lean on Ouinex's human (not chatbot) support. The closing hot-take round rounds him out nicely: a self-described multi-chain pragmatist with unshakeable conviction in blockchain's staying power, convinced AI agents will reshape how — and whether — we trade at all, and unashamedly nostalgic for the original Avatar. Imagine a world where AI doesn't just automate tasks, but actively builds bridges, connecting individuals to mentorship and opportunities previously out of reach.Stephanie and I discuss how AI can level the playing field for underrepresented communities and can drive transformation, inclusion, and belonging. We explore the intersection of digital innovation and human systems, particularly looking at responsible AI solutions through intentional design. A critical blind spot in AI adoption however is not knowing what the root access it. Many leaders are rushing to implement new AI tools without understanding the underlying risks. Our conversation uncovered that the true power of AI lies not just in its capabilities, but in its responsible deployment. This means having clean, validated data and carefully configured agents. Just as a human needs clear instructions and a focused task, so does AI. A small, refined dataset leads to more accurate, less “hallucinating” results.Building responsible AI means involving the people it will serve from the very beginning. and creating AI solutions that are specifically designed for people whose voices are often unheard, operationalizing inclusion in a way that I hadn't considered before - this is the mission of Avatar buddy. We also discussed the concept of digital twins – digital versions of ourselves that capture our personality and life history. These aren't just cool tech, they're tools for accessibility, providing judgment-free support and encouragement. We also explored Mosaic Commons, Stephanie's virtual community for digital twins, and how crucial representation is. Mosaic commons is a space where Black and brown people can see themselves reflected. This idea of seeing yourself in positions of power and access is such a powerful motivator for intentionally building for inclusion and reminds me how key representation is, even in the digital realm.I truly believe that the future of AI hinges on intentional design and ethical considerations. If you're a leader, I urge you to think about Stephanie's advice: don't use AI just because everyone else is. Instead, have clarity on the problems you're trying to solve and include diverse voices in the design process.Main insights you'll get from this episode are :AI and inclusion belong together at the intersection of digital innovation, culture change and human systems.AI can level the playing field for marginalised/locked-out communities so that inclusion becomes a design decision.Avatar Buddy delivers cutting-edge, responsible AI solutions for transformation, belonging and performance.AI must have clean data that is accurate and has been reviewed by humans, as well as be deployed properly with specific directions to reduce hallucinations. As it is designed like a human brain, AI makes mistakes, but smaller datasets produce more accurate results.AI agents must be properly configured to prevent slop, and it cannot perform infinite multiple tasks together.Avatar Buddy uses digital twins to digitise people: capturing their essence, interviewing them, taking an audio sample and feeding everything into the AI.The underlying premise is that everyone can overcome if they have one loving adult in their life who believes in them more than they believe in themselves. For AI to fulfil this role, it is configured not be to addictive, to improve knowledge acquisition/retention and self-esteem, and to be judgement-free.AI levels the playing field, gives a voice to those who don't have one, promotes accessibility and enables people to see themselves reflected back.To operationalise inclusion, C-suite digital twins can offer real human insights, let leaders be heard and seen too, and give juniors access to the C-suite.The 5-step process is ultimately aimed at eliminating bottlenecks, not people, and involves meeting the whole team to craft the solution they will use.Diversity of opinion is fundamental to development at Avatar Buddy, which is also localised for different geographical regions.Guardrails are required when building AI, e.g. only use products you understand; a productivity increase no longer requires edge cases or the latest development.AI can be used in some parts of business processes but always with humans in between; used correctly, it removes emotional churn and improves quality of life.Google AI is a safe, simple, fast and low-risk alternative and can improve civil society.Leaders need a specific problem to solve with AI (but nothing mission-critical) and must include all the appropriate voices.Find out more about Stephanie and her work here :https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephanie-a-sylvestre/https://avatarbuddy.co/https://youtu.be/32LAt1sJPTA?si=I6-OowG5E8yy2DU8For more information on this episode please visit www.transformforvalue.com/podcastTo carry on developing your leadership and building a relevant & high performing team, connect with me here : https://calendly.com/transformforvalue/connect
The Great Rosary Campaign is an ongoing prayer and penance campaign for the conversion and strengthening of both Catholic and non-Catholic leaders. For this "Hollywood Edition" of the Great Rosary Campaign, this week let us pray for the conversion of one of the world's most successful Directors, James Cameron, famous for blockbusters such as "Titanic" and "Avatar." Out of love for his soul, let us pray that comes to the fullness of truth in the Catholic Church, and that his gifts may be fully put in the service of Christ. The SUGGESTED PENANCE this week is a Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament, the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. In these dark times, we must fight evil with the most powerful weapons we have. The Rosary is foremost among them. Join the Great Rosary Campaign today at: www.GreatRosaryCampaign.com.Countless Saints and Popes have told us that the Rosary is incredibly powerful for three things in particular:Keeping the FaithMoral renovationConversions of non-CatholicsThe Great Rosary Campaign is also based on several biblical themes and principles.First, PRAY FOR OUR BRETHREN. “Pray for one another…” (Jas. 5:16). “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Gal. 6:10).Second, PRAY FOR OUR ENEMIES. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven" (Matt. 5:43-44).Third, PRAY FOR ALL MEN, PARTICULARLY LEADERS AND THOSE IN AUTHORITY. “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, or kings and all who are in high positions…” (1 Tim. 2:1-2).Fourth, GOING INTO BATTLE WITH THE ARK. When the ancient Israelites came to Jericho, God didn't tell them to besiege the city. Instead, He told them to march around it with the Ark of the Covenant seven times, and on the seventh the walls would fall. We will now "march" in prayer for seven days with the New Ark of the Covenant, Our Lady, through the Rosary. We pray in hope that on the seventh day, a day especially devoted to Our Lady (Saturday), extraordinary graces of conversion will be given to those we are praying for.Fifth, EVANGELISM AND APOLOGETICS = LOVE + ARGUMENTS + PRAYER + PENANCE. Ultimately it is God who reveals Himself to a soul, and empowers them to say "yes" to Him by His grace. He chooses to use us, but He does not have to. We must remember that as we evangelize and defend the Faith, our arguments will be fruitless unless informed by love (charity), and reinforced by prayer and penance.Sixth, RETURNING GOOD FOR EVIL. “Do not return evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing" (1 Pet. 3:9).Sign up to take part in the Great Rosary Campaign today: www.
Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960)
In this episode, I sit down with Paul Hynek — entrepreneur, futurist, Wharton MBA, and Adjunct Professor of Finance at Pepperdine University. Paul is the son of legendary astronomer and UFO researcher Dr. J. Allen Hynek, creator of the Close Encounter classification system and the real figure behind History Channel's Project Blue Book. Paul has built a remarkable career of his own at the cutting edge of technology, cryptocurrency, virtual production, and startups — including playing a key role in the sale of Giant Studios to James Cameron for Avatar, launching the world's first children's online service with Bill Gates, and creating EZ Numbers, the financial projections software that has raised over $1 billion for thousands of startups. A frequent speaker at South by Southwest, Harvard, and Wharton, Paul is also a pioneering longevity researcher — one of the first people in the world to regrow his thymus gland in an FDA-approved life extension trial. Woven through all of it is a lifelong fascination with UFOs, DMT, consciousness, and the nature of reality — a path that led him, in his own words, to believe that disclosure won't come from a government podium, but from direct experience itself. The low-budget horror film ‘Backrooms' is the surprise hit of the summer so far, netting more than $200 million globally in its leap from YouTube to the big screen. But among the film's producers is a Hollywood heavyweight: Peter Chernin. As the former president and COO of News Corp. and chairman and CEO of the Fox Group, Peter greenlit huge hits like “Titanic” and “Avatar,” before moving on to found both North Road and The Chernin Group. Kara and Peter talk about why “Backrooms” appealed to young audiences, how Hollywood has played it too safe over the last decade, and what it needs to do to get back to making the kinds of movies people want to see. They also talk about how AI could impact the movie-making business and why he's not opposed to Paramount's merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. A note to listeners: This episode was recorded before the Justice Department approved Paramount's acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery late Friday. Questions? Comments? It's a family affair discussing a movie about cloning a family. You can't make this stuff up! Brought to you by our friends at Live Bearded. Keep it handsome, geeks! https://livebearded.com/2GEEKS
Nobody expected the second half of the cleric episode to begin with a discussion about wolves conducting hate crimes against coyotes, crows acting as aerial bounty hunters, and the lasting trauma of Game of Thrones season eight. Somehow this naturally transitioned into Pathfinder clerics, giant dragon towers, vampire bat transformations, and a godless revolutionary whose greatest enemy remains organized religion. In hindsight, this was probably the only possible outcome. Show Notes In the second half of our Pathfinder 2e Cleric build series, we advanced our morally questionable holy figures from level 11 all the way to 20. Before we even reached the introduction, however, we somehow found ourselves discussing wolf vendettas, crow conspiracies, Game of Thrones, British pronunciation crimes, and Pulp Fiction-inspired monologues. Naturally, this was exactly the kind of preparation required for high-level clerics. Randall returned with his godless anti-religious war priest, continuing his crusade to dismantle divine authority while simultaneously benefiting from divine magic. The contradictions only made the character stronger. Ash continued building a dragon-obsessed kobold servant of Dahak, leaning heavily into domains, summoning magic, and draconic heritage feats. Tyler doubled down on his undead survival machine, creating a cleric who would rather become increasingly horrifying than ever experience death again. As the builds progressed, the characters became increasingly absurd. Randall evolved into a social revolutionary capable of literally preaching atheism to enemies. Ash transformed into a majestic kobold empowered by dragons and armed with enough fire to solve nearly any problem. Tyler embraced his inner vampire, eventually turning into a bat, draining enemies, and becoming nearly impossible to kill. High-level spells stole much of the spotlight. Summoning dragons, collapsing enemies with Implosion, unleashing Massacre, and transforming into avatars of divine power all showcased just how spectacular Pathfinder's spellcasters become in the late game. Meanwhile, Randall's philosophy remained unchanged: peace is important, and anyone who disagrees can discuss it with the business end of a glaive. By the time we reached level 20, our collection of short kings had somehow become terrifying demigods. None of them were remotely good people, but they were certainly memorable clerics. Key Takeaways Levels 11 through 20 dramatically increase a cleric's power through doctrines, master spellcasting, and powerful class feats. High-rank divine spells provide some of the most cinematic effects in Pathfinder 2e. Harm-focused builds can become incredibly durable through self-healing and defensive feats. Domain spells continue to scale well into the highest levels of play. Heritage feats can dramatically shape a character's identity and capabilities. Avatar provides one of the most flavorful capstone spells available to divine casters. Additional 10th-rank spell slots are difficult to pass up at level 20. Warpriests gain survivability but still lag behind dedicated martial classes in weapon proficiency. Pathfinder 2e offers many ways to support unusual character concepts, including technically illegal godless clerics. Team Fun Size successfully evolved from weird clerics into full-blown nightmares for any GM. Welcome to the RPGBOT Podcast. CS Lewis is mainly seen as either a purveyor of goopy children's literature or a Christian moralist fuddy-duddy. But Lewis' Space Trilogy—fantastic literature for adults, or "philosophical science fiction"—also reveals him as a dystopian prophet in the tradition of Orwell. The first two books in the series, Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandra, are a critique of space imperialism that anticipated the Avatar movies. But the final one, That Hideous Strength, is particularly relevant for our historical moment, as it anticipated rule by fascist tech bros with hubristic visions of remaking (or abolishing) humanity. In Episode 332 of the CounterVortex podcast, Bill Weinberg makes the case that Lewis offered a vital critique of technocracy and "transhumanism" that is now urgently needed, as humanity stands at the cusp of his worst nightmares. Paramount just canceled the ATLA RPG -- yeah that big-budget open-world action RPG set thousands of years before the original series with a brand-new Avatar got the axe before it even left early pre-production after Saber Interactive poured years into it. The Skydance merger suits apparently looked at the project, shrugged, and killed it dead while Iroh voice actor Greg Baldwin straight-up called the execs "straight up evil" for flushing another Avatar project down the toilet -- because nothing says "we respect the lore" like hyping a game at announcements and then ghosting fans two years later with zero explanation. My family has known Maria for 30 years. I recently did a few portraits of her when I thought what can I do with these other than post them on Instagram and Facebook. For a long time I have been watching and listening to Platon a world famous photographer who talks from the heart with deep interest to his sisters he's photographing. For me, Platon is incredibly motivating. Since, I have a photojournalism background I decided to interview Maria. She is a selfless person with a deep personal life story of perseverance , struggle and grace. I think you'll find this a deeply emotional interview. It's not meant to be political statement rather a life story of an incredible woman. Send us Fan MailThank you for listening and help me grow this channel. Have a great day. You think you know who your avatar is. You're probably wrong. Not because you haven't thought about it. Not because you lack experience or expertise. But because most coaches are describing their avatar from the top of the mountain, in language that makes total sense to them and zero sense to the person at the base. That is the avatar problem. And it is not the avatar's problem. It's yours. In this episode, Adam and Jess are naming the thing that sits underneath every marketing frustration, every slow launch, every "I don't know why this isn't working" moment in a coaching business. If you are not getting enough clients, your avatar clarity is almost certainly part of the reason. It's not the only variable, but it is the one that makes every other variable harder to fix.The avatar problem shows up in a few specific ways. Some coaches have it because they are trying to speak to everyone and therefore speaking to no one. Some coaches have it because they have built their messaging around a job title or industry rather than a lived problem they have actually solved. And some coaches have it because they are so deep in the expertise of their niche that they've lost the ability to speak in the language of someone who hasn't arrived there yet.Adam and Jess have had every version of this problem themselves. The challenge was called the "10K Coaching Offer Challenge" for years. The intensive was the "Quarter Million Coach Intensive." Both were named for an old version of an old avatar, built around aspirational income language that made sense to them and filtered out the exact coach who needed them most. When they ran their own positioning through the Maslow Mountain filter, they renamed both. Not because the content changed. Because the avatar did.IN THIS EPISODE: - Why "if you don't have enough clients, you might have an avatar problem" is the fastest self-diagnostic you can run right now- The Rory Vaden principle that actually defines who you are built to serve (and it has nothing to do with credentials or certifications)- Why the specialist always beats the generalist, and the cardiac surgeon story that makes it click permanently- The two ways coaches speak about their avatar publicly, and why only one of them generates referrals- Adam's 30-year-old tennis evaluation sheet and the moment he realized he should have been coaching serves, not tennis- The relevance pitch framework, what it is and why "internal niche, external relevant" is the rule that ends the verbal vomit problem- What happened to the challenge participant who walked in with a five-minute monologue and walked out with a six-word sentence- Why imposter syndrome, silo-building, and unclear avatar language are the exact same problem wearing three different outfits- How Adam and Jess renamed both their challenge and their intensive after running their own language through the Maslow filterTHE BIG IDEA: Your avatar is not defined by who you want to serve. It is defined by who you are actually built to serve, the person walking the path you have already walked. The coach who gets clear on that stops chasing clients and starts attracting them. But here is the part most coaches skip: your language for that avatar cannot come from the top of the mountain. You have to climb back down, remember what it felt like to stand at the base, and speak from there.MEMORABLE LINES FROM THIS EPISODE: "The avatar problem is not the avatar's problem. You have an avatar problem because you don't know specifically what you solve.""We don't want you to appeal to the masses. Do not appeal to the masses. We want you to appeal to a very small subset of the masses because you are a specialist in this space.""Internal niche, external relevant. That's the key.""I can't tell you the majority of the nurses that were in my son's NICU room, but you bet your bottom dollar I can name first and last name the doctor who did my son's heart surgery.""The worst language that we hear comes from the people who build in a silo the most."YOUR ONE THING THIS WEEK: Run the two-question self-diagnostic. First: do you have enough clients? If the answer is no, your avatar language is worth a hard look. Second: take your current way of describing what you do and read it out loud to someone who has no context for your niche. If they look confused, ask more questions, or go quiet, that is not engagement. That is polite disengagement. Start there. Simpler, cleaner, more specific to the problem. Not to the credential. Not to the methodology. The problem.CONNECT WITH ADAM AND JESS: If this one hit close to home, come find us at ilovecoachingco.com. That is where our upcoming events live, where the community is, and where you can connect with us directly. If you are ready to stop building alone and start getting real feedback on your avatar and your offer, the Sellable Offer Challenge is the place to start. ilovecoachingco.com/challenge If you know a coach who keeps saying their marketing isn't working but can't explain who they help in one clear sentence, send them this one. That is exactly who this episode is for.Follow the show: @ilovecoachingco on Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and FacebookKEY THEMES: - Avatar clarity as a business diagnostic, not a branding exercise- Maslow's Mountain as a positioning filter- Specialist vs. generalist in coaching- Relevance pitch: internal niche, external relevance- Lived experience as the foundation of authority- Silo-building and its relationship to imposter syndrome- Public language vs. enrollment language for coaches- Feedback as a competitive advantage in offer development
