Is it a good movie if you have to watch it ten times? That's the question Chris and Daniel keep circling back to as they take on Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, skipping the marketing noise and the wireframe-cyclops conspiracy theories to actually ask whether the thing works as a film. They dig into what Nolan is doing as a filmmaker, structurally and emotionally, in his adaptation of the oldest story in Western literature, and why a three hour runtime built around a decade-long wait might be the whole point rather than a flaw. The real conversation is about adaptation itself: what happens when a director spends the entire movie making an audience feel exactly what an intractable wait feels like, and why Nolan's obsession with time connects everything from Memento through Tenet to this one. Daniel makes the case that Nolan has finally figured out how to deliver Tenet's disorienting rewatch effect without forcing anyone to actually rewatch anything. Chris and Daniel also compare Nolan's spectacle-forward approach to what a Denis Villeneuve version might have looked like, and get into why single-vision directors are becoming Hollywood's new IP. Mentioned in this episode: The Odyssey (Christopher Nolan), Tenet, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Memento, Oppenheimer, Denis Villeneuve, Dune, Avatar, James Cameron, Peter Jackson, Annihilation (Alex Garland), Starship Troopers (Paul Verhoeven), Inglourious Basterds, Jackie Brown, Frank Gehry, Steven Spielberg, Disclosure Day, Zack Kreger, Ryan Coogler, Hoyte van Hoytema, Wally Pfister, David Lynch, Jack Fisk, Paris, Texas, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Master and Commander, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, Neuromancer (trailer) Special thanks to our sponsor: Center Grid Virtual Studio: https://cgvirtualstudio.com/

Christopher Nolan's just released The Odyssey is another Nolan juggernaut, having made $700 million in just 12 days of release. It's also the first movie shot fully on IMAX film. And it's a certified classical epic. Often, cinema has pulled a kind of miraculous magic trick by finding technologies and film formats and the right epic material to make a movie in the theater a must see experience. Every time the naysayers write off movies or the movie theater, sound (1920's), color (1930's), widescreen (1950's) or 70MM (1950's-1960's) or immersive 3D (2000's Avatar) and now IMAX (2000's-present) somehow brings folks back. And makes believers out of us again. Secret Movie Club founder.programmer Craig Hammill looks at this history of epic-film format-rejuvenation. And wonders what we might be able to learn from it.

Send us Fan MailThis is from the book titled: Idea and Ideology. There are 11 chapters to the book, and this is the reading of the 6th chapter titled - Atman, Paramatman and Sadhana. In this discourse, "Ātman, Paramātman and Sādhana" (1959), Baba explains the relationship between the individual self, Cosmic Consciousness, and the purpose of spiritual practice. He describes creation as a journey from subtle consciousness into matter and then back again toward its divine source. Human life represents a unique stage in this return journey because only human beings can consciously accelerate their spiritual evolution through sādhana. Baba also challenges the traditional doctrine of divine incarnations, arguing that spiritual greatness comes through gradual evolution rather than a miraculous descent of God into human form. The discourse concludes with the Tantric concept of Tāraka Brahma and emphasizes that the highest goal of spiritual life is complete surrender to the Supreme Consciousness through love and devotion. #1007 Ever wondered how creators are scaling faster than ever with AI? In this episode, host Kirsten Tyrrel sits down with Julian Goldie, an SEO agency owner turned AI-driven creator whose entire business transformed when he leaned into artificial intelligence instead of running from it. Julian shares how he went from 1,000 YouTube subscribers to nearly 300,000 by documenting his AI learning journey, building an AI clone of himself, and creating content at scale using tools like HeyGen, ElevenLabs, Claude, and more. He breaks down the exact process behind his AI avatar videos, how his team produces multiple tutorials a day, and the surprisingly simple system his community uses to earn affiliate income by repurposing his content. Whether you're building a brand, growing a business, or just trying to keep up with AI, this conversation is packed with practical, mind-bending insights you can apply immediately! (Original Air Date - 11/19/25) What we discuss with Julian: + Pivoting an SEO agency with AI + Growing from 1k to 300k YouTube subscribers + Building an AI avatar with HeyGen + Cloning voice using ElevenLabs + Creating content at massive scale + Team-generated videos without Julian + Using AI for scripting and research + Repurposing content for affiliate income + Reddit and X growth strategies + AI as the new business “cheat code” Thank you, Julian! Avatar Studios’ first movie is finally here! 11 years since the last Avatar animated content, the From the Sprit World crew is back to discuss the big new Aang movie, “Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender”. We talk about Aang’s arc, the Adult Gaang, Tagah, and much more. Note: this was recorded on June 5th 2026 discussing the leaked copy of the film. Several of us wanted to watch early to avoid spoilers and didn’t want to wait months to discuss, and now it’s released for all to listen to! Please watch the official release on Paramount+ to support future Avatar Studios works! Since we recorded this the release date of the film was moved up to July 25th. Also, Mike and Bryan said Aang is 25 in the film, we were unsure of his exact age at time of recording. At SDCC they confirmed Katara was pregnant in earlier versions of the movie. Hosts for this podcast: Dylan, Mel, Aly, & Brit. 0:00 – Introduction 5:15 – Overall thoughts on the movie 16:15 – Does this belong in Avatar canon alongside Avatar & Korra? 26:00 – Favorite Moments 46:00 – Aang 58:00 – Katara 1:18:25 – Rest of the gaang 1:35:40 – Tagah & Sonam 1:43:00 – Other things
A cult classic movie often wasn't a mainstream hit upon release. But over time, a devoted committed subculture grew around the movie with the belief, nay, the knowledge that this was a masterpiece movie. Cult classics like Elvira Mistress of the Dark, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, El Topo, Eraserhead, The Big Lebowski, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, may never get the mainstream recognition or popularity of an Avatar or Sinners but to its fervent audience, the cult classic is as beloved as great literature. Secret Movie Club founder.programmer Craig Hammill explores what makes a cult classic movie. And what we, as movie lovers and movie makers, can learn from them.

You've got clients on your calendar right now who don't actually feel like a fit. Maybe you like them fine, maybe the check clears, but something about the work feels harder than it should. If you've ever caught yourself hoping a client doesn't cancel instead of hoping they book again, this episode is for you.Adam and Jess are three episodes deep into their "Is This Actually Yours?" series, and this one turns the lens on the client sitting across from you. Adam opens with his own story of coaching an avatar he'd inherited from a past container, the recruiters and leaders he was "supposed" to coach because that's who he'd always coached, whether or not there was any real passion behind it. Jess flips the coin and names the other version of this trap: coaches who build their avatar around who they want to become someday instead of who they've actually gotten results for. Both point to the same root problem. When you coach from an identity that isn't fully yours, whether inherited or aspirational, the mismatch shows up in your calendar. The conversation builds toward the Avatar Fit Filter, three questions Adam and Jess use to audit a client roster: do you like them, can you and will you help them with the specific outcome you've defined, and can they actually afford you. Jess adds a bonus filter on top: do your current clients reflect who you are at your best, or who you were willing to settle for before you had confidence in your pricing and your process. What you'll learn:Why coaching to an old professional identity keeps you stuck with the wrong clientsThe difference between inheriting an avatar and reaching for one you haven't earned yetThe three-question Avatar Fit Filter for auditing your current rosterWhy discounting your price is usually a sign you've got the wrong client, not the wrong priceJess's BEAT method (Break, Examine, Audit, Tune) for slowing down before you scaleA red light, green light exercise for your calendar that makes the wrong clients easier to spotWhy "inviting" beats "convincing" every time you're signing a new clientThe big idea here is simple but uncomfortable: your calendar is currently full of information about what you actually believe about your business, whether or not that matches what you'd say out loud. Every client you're afraid to lose, chasing to close, or discounting for is telling you something about a mismatch between your defined outcome and who you're actually letting onto your calendar. The fix isn't dramatic. It's an audit, not a demolition.Notable quote: "If you ever have to feel like you're selling or convincing, it's not the right client." — Adam RoachResources mentioned:Rory Vaden (referenced as a recurring influence on positioning and strategic client selection)Donald Miller's jar and label metaphor (referenced, though Adam misremembered the exact line, which Jess corrected: you cannot read the label from inside the jar)Graham Cochrane's "I will invite you, but I'm not gonna chase you" framingILC community: ilovecoachingco.comInstagram: @ilovecoachingco / @adamrroach / @thejesswebberYouTube: youtube.com/@ilovecoachingcoTimestamps: [00:00] Intro: Part 3 of 5, is the avatar actually yours [01:10] Why this is the most timely conversation in their world right now [02:29] Coaching to an old identity: Adam's "that guy that built" story [06:00] The "founder" title trend and inherited containers [07:33] Peeling off borrowed labels, the jar and label metaphor [10:36] Jess's BEAT method: slow down to speed up [11:42] The three-question Avatar Fit Filter [13:55] Naming the framework and why outcome-fit matters more than liking someone [16:15] Discounting price as a signal you have the wrong client [18:48] The red light, green light calendar exercise [20:55] Whys vs. whos vs. whats [22:26] Wrap-up and where to find moreReady to build a coaching business you're proud of?
