Netflix has made one of the biggest moves in entertainment history, announcing a proposed $82.7 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming and studio division, including Warner Bros. Games. If approved, this deal would put major gaming franchises under Netflix's control, including Mortal Kombat, Hogwarts Legacy, and the Batman: Arkham series. In My Xbox And Me Podcast #545, we break down what this could actually mean for gamers, not just investors. We discuss: What Netflix owning Warner Bros. Games means for console players The future of major IPs like Arkham, Mortal Kombat, and Hogwarts Legacy Whether Netflix could push games toward subscriptions or exclusivity How this impacts Xbox, PlayStation, and third-party studios If this deal strengthens or weakens the future of big-budget games With Netflix already struggling to find its place in gaming, this potential acquisition raises serious questions about ownership, preservation, monetisation, and creative freedom in the games industry. If you care about Xbox, AAA game franchises, and how corporate decisions shape the games we play, this episode is essential listening. We start with breaking corporate news as Warner Bros. Discovery is expected to reject Paramount's latest acquisition offer, choosing instead to move forward with its $82.7 billion Netflix deal. If finalized, Netflix would gain control of Warner Bros. Games, including massive IP like Mortal Kombat, DC, Harry Potter, and more. We discuss whether Netflix will license these franchises out—or finally go all-in on games—and what this could mean for the future of AAA development. Next, we look at alarming new data showing US hardware sales and physical game spending just hit their worst November in 30 years. Despite heavy Black Friday promotions, record-high console prices dragged sales down, even as PS5 emerged as the best-selling console for the month. We break down what this says about the future of physical games, hardware pricing, and consumer behavior. Then we tackle the ongoing AI controversy in game development, as Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke responds forcefully to backlash over AI usage following The Game Awards. Vincke makes it clear: artists are not being replaced. We discuss where AI fits responsibly in modern game development—and where players are drawing the line. The episode also covers Bungie's major Marathon update, including a March 2026 release date, revamped visuals, deeper PvE, hardcore gameplay shifts, solo playlists, expanded weapon mod systems, and new lore teases. After months of controversy, Bungie appears to be rebuilding trust—so we ask: Is Marathon finally back on track? And can it stand alongside competitors like Arc Raiders? Plus, listener questions and reactions on Bungie, PlayStation strategy, and shooter fatigue.

We open with the shock of Carrie-Hiroyuki Tagawa's passing and step through the moments that defined him: a scene-stealing Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat, a gallery of elegant villains across 80s and 90s action, and a deep, steady practice in martial arts that prized control over violence. That contrast powers the story—how a performer built on breath, precision, and presence could turn wafer-thin dialogue into lines you still quote, then reappear years later with the same gravity reshaped into empathy. We dig into Tagawa's training in kendo and Shotokan under Masatoshi Nakayama and how that discipline informed his screen work. The conversation pulls no punches about typecasting and yellow peril tropes that lingered in Hollywood, from Big Trouble in Little China to network TV, and how Tagawa often transcended the parts he was offered. Along the way we revisit touchstones like The Perfect Weapon, Showdown in Little Tokyo, License to Kill, Rising Sun, Planet of the Apes, Tekken, and a surprisingly rich run in animation with Star Wars Rebels and Visions. Then we pivot to his quieter triumph: a measured, humane turn in The Man in the High Castle that proved his range extended well beyond menace. The final act explores a surprising chapter—Tagawa's late-life connection to Russia, conversion to Orthodox Christianity, and an articulated desire to serve and heal. In his own words, a true warrior carries compassion. Through that lens, the career of a “villain” reads as a masterclass in restraint, intention, and dignity, delivered over more than 150 screen credits. If you love film history, character acting, martial arts philosophy, or the craft of turning stereotype into substance, this one is for you.If this resonated, share it with a friend, subscribe for more deep dives on film legends, and leave a review telling us your favorite Tagawa performance.

Cloud gaming from the couch — Sorg uses OneCast, GeForce Now, and Xbox Cloud Gaming to turn an Apple TV and Chromecast into a console-free living room, streaming everything from Mortal Kombat 1 to Marvel's Midnight Suns. Netflix Games leveling up — from Red Dead Redemption (2010) going mobile-only on Netflix to a WWE 2K “Netflix Edition” and Stranger Things puzzle games trying to lure the 99% of subscribers who never touch the games tab. BIG MONEY! BIG PRIZES! I LOVE IT! In this episode of The Main Quest, I team up once again with SeekYeWisdom to dive into Super Smash TV, Williams' hyper violent, game show inspired twin-stick shooter that set the tone for arcade excess in the early '90s. We unpack how Smash TV connects to the DNA of Mortal Kombat and Robotron 2084, and how its mix of satire, capitalism, and gore made it a cult classic. We compare it to the arcade original, and debate how well the console version translates without true twin sticks. This Week on Toy Power Podcast; we welcome Canadian local: Colin Betts to our home town; as he celebrates his overseas Holiday trip! Kicking off the episode, we chat towards the Tron HasLab project - that obliviously is drowning. An exciting expansion to our Powers Of Grayskull - Masters Of The Universe Collection - with the addition of the Wolf Character: Red Shadow. Plus an incredible achievement from the crew of 'Yes Have Some' / 'Toy Anxiety' Podcast; as they reveal their much anticipated Kickstarter: Cryptoids - Mothman. The first of hopefully many figures in this unique Toyline. Then we hear directly from Colin about his travels thus far. A interesting comparison on the Retail front of what offerings one finds outside of their own Country too! Then, its a flurry of Gift-Giving! It feels like Christmas Day; with the amount of gifts shared around the table; and we are all incredibly thankful for the genorosity! Thankyou Colin!!Support the show: http://patreon.com/toypowerpodcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I checked out the Atari 50 Namco DLC and was pleasantly surprised about how well it treated the Atari 2600 Pac-Man port as the programming masterpiece that it is. Valve has announced three new pieces of Steam Hardware to come out in early 2026 - a new Steam Machine, a new Steam Controller, and the successor to the Index VR device, the Steam Frame. Then we talk to Rob about Atari 50 and finally watching the end of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection "dokumentary" and who was left out of the stories.

If you can't find something to enjoy in this movie, I have to question whether or not you have a soul. The movie is to video games what Toy Story is to toys. We watch Ralph struggle in his role as a bad guy when he isn't really a "bad" guy, and when he sets out to prove it to the NPCs in his game, the world of Fix It Felix Jr comes crashing down. Add in an adorable sidekick, a badass heroine, and more video game easter eggs than you can count, and you have one hell of a movie.Pending RTG Hall of Famer Mark McCue is my guest this week and we praised the piss out of this movie. Laughing at our favourite scenes, pointing out the best cameos (and speculating on what it cost to get Bowser to appear)...this was just a really fun episode. No rage, no arguing, just two man-children geeking out about a movie for kids. And before we wreck it, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if Sega could take Nintendo down today if they were still in the console market? Are game consoles a good investment by the cost of entertainment today? And Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat?Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 games that star villains from the movie: Super Mario Bros. 3, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Street Fighter 2.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
