Dojas proffsigt polerade debutalbum har just floppat.

Mahbod Moghadam is the co-founder of Genius (formerly Rap Genius), co-founder of everipedia.org, and co-founder of ozone.ai. My words but Mahbod helped build Genius by being a controversial guy online. Controversy does not make you universally loved and Mahbod has "had beef" with a whole slew of who's who in the tech business. Some of it was real, some of it was show, all of it was catnip for the press at the time! Two brain surgeries and many years later and Mahbod strikes a very different tone about his life and approach to entrepreneurship. I wanted to talk to him because he's unique. I tried to steer the conversation towards Rene Girard's ideas which I thought might apply well to Mahbod's story. I still feel that way but it's hard to stay meta for long with Mahbod and we bounce in and out of his life narrative while covering the role of media in the construction of controversy, whether being controversial is a good idea even in retrospect, what it means to be an Iranian Jew in the tech startup world and don't worry, Mahbod hasn't jettisoned contrarian and original ideas entirely. Enjoy my ride with Mahbod!Show notes: https://notunreasonable.com/2021/11/26/mahbod-moghadam-on-controversy/

Author of This is Marketing: You Can't Be Seen Until You Learn to See Interview starts at 13:06 and ends at 45:08 “I have a bunch of regrets about how Amazon is steering the boat these days. One of the things I think they dropped the ball on is they've had a hundred opportunities to make Kindle a social platform, and they have dropped it. And they shouldn't, because that is a really useful transformation--to be able to say ‘Where are the other thousand people who highlighted this? How can I have a discussion with them?' That's magic, and you can't do it.” (Photo by Brian Bloom) News Amazon earnings release Om Malik on Amazon earnings release Tech Tip How to load the Google Play Store onto your Fire tablet    Interview with Seth Godin Seth Godin's blog and The Marketing Seminar This is Marketing: You Can't Be Seen Until You Learn to See by Seth Godin Genius (formerly known as Rap Genius) commentary by Seth Godin on his book The Purple Cow What to Do When It's Your Turn (and It's Always Your Turn) by Seth Godin The Beginning of Infinity: Explanations That Transform the World by David Deutsch An Analog Novel (3 Book Series) by Eliot Peper Content The Killer Collective by Barry Eisler Music for my podcast is from an original Thelonius Monk composition named "Well, You Needn't." Right-click here and then click "Save Link As..." to download the audio to your computer, phone, or MP3 player. Tech Tip from John Aga When installing the Google Play Store to your Fire tablet, it is important to do it in order as indicated in the article. I downloaded each one with a minute or two between downloads. I have a file manager app on my Fire tablet that not only displays the name of the file but the time the file was downloaded. You have to download them in a specific order then click and execute them in the same specific order. If you down load them a minute or two apart is easier then telling them apart based on their file name. It went smoothly when I did it. I was sure to download the file specified in the article even if I got messages that there was a newer versions available. I do not know if that was important or not but it was the approach I took. It will be important that Google Play Services and the Google Play Store are the first ones updated before downloading any other apps from the Google Play Store. Some time after I have installed the Google Play Store on my Amazon Fire 10" HD tablet, I started to get the message " cannot access the server" whenever I opened the Google Play Store. To resolve this I went into settings, then clicked on Apps and Games, then clicked on Manage All Applications, then clicked on the app Google Play Store. Then I clicked on "clear cache, clear memory, and force stop". I then rebooted my tablet and the problem was gone. If it should happen again I would just repeat these steps to clear it up. Another tech tip: On a separate subject I have notice that sometimes after I have updated one or more apps, one or more apps will move from the SD card back to internal memory. This is easily resolved. First click on settings. Second click on storage. Third all your settings should be set by default to include "install supported apps on your SD card". The other settings you want have on are to download movies, music, photos, personal videos, audiobooks and ebooks to your SD card. About one third down on the storage page the SD card and amount of storage is displayed. Just below that there is a command to "Move Apps to SD Card". Just below that it will either say "0" apps available or it will say if there are one or more apps available to move back to the SD card. Just click on that and it will automatically move any apps that moved back to internal during an app update and move them back to the SD card. This can take just a few seconds or a minute or two depending on how many apps there are to move back to the SD card. It is worth checking this once and awhile to ensure your Amazon Fire Tablet is using all storage in the most effective way possible.

EP81: How blockchain-based Everipedia is disrupting the Wiki model

Everipedia is Wikipedia on the blockchain. What does that mean for privacy, openness and fair use? It’s less than 2 weeks until the launch of the EOS blockchain and today we chat with Mahbod Moghadam, co-founder of Everipedia, a blockchain-based Wikipedia built on the EOS blockchain. Mahbod graduated from Yale in 2004 and was the co-founder of Rap Genius (now, Genius.com) which finds the meaning in song lyrics. While building Rap Genius, Mahbod decided to create his own Wikipedia page, and was unpleasantly surprised that he wasn’t allowed. Apparently didn’t have a high profile, even after raising millions, to be accepted at Wikipedia.com. With the idea that anyone should be able to create a wiki page for themselves, he and a few other co-founders decided to launch Everipedia.org as an “expansion pack” to Wikipedia.com. Basically, if you weren’t popular or “cool” enough to get a Wikipedia page, you could create your own page on Everipedia. Before you think that Everipedia is some scrub website, they imported all of the current Wikipedia articles. This means that they have over 6,000,000 unique articles to search from. Before you cry “plagiarism”, please remember that Wikipedia imported the articles of the Encyclopedia Britannica. Ok, everyone cool now? Anyways, here’s some additional information about Everipedia.org: Everipedia background: over 6 million articles No ads Anyone can create an article and be an editor about anything, no censorship Started with all of the wikipedia articles inside of it? Hired Larry Sanger, co-founder of Wikipedia AND Everipedia Raised $30M, fully funded by Block. One, the creators of the EOS.io software More fun facts, Everipedia didn’t start off as a blockchain project. They started as a website that offered reward points to incentivize authors and editors. Guess what? This influence model can’t complete with the tokenized world of blockchain. So, Everipedia networked with Block. One and raised $30M, complete bought by Block. One, and decided to be the first airdrop on the EOS platform. Ok, they didn’t drop their tokens first, but they were the first to announce. Why would they do this? Well, they want to build a community of content creators, editors and consumers. Airdropping your tokens on EOS means that you get and instant community of like-minded please. Pretty clever. So, tune in to find out why their token, the IQ token, exists and how it incentivizes users and why they chose to build on the EOS blockchain. We’re just getting started with EOS and there’s going to be a LOT more dApps that decide to airdop in order to quickly build a community. If Dan Larimer learned one thing about Steem, it was that the initial token distribution is very important, and by incentivizing airdrops to EOS token holders, dApp team can take advantage of the year long ICO. I hope you enjoy this episode and I’ve included all the links to keep up-to-date with the Everipedia team, Don’t forget to buy EOS tokens and register them ASAP in order to receive the free Everipedia IQ tokens. This isn’t investment advice. I don’t have any license, certification or experience to offer it. What you do with your money is your own business. I don’t care, and good luck. One of the ways to damage a fast-growing startup is to not have an HR person. But when is the right time to bring someone on? What qualities should you look for? How can you preserve the company culture and energy that got you where you are -- while still putting in place the processes that HR requires? Ben Horowitz and a16z's head of technical talent Shannon Schiltz (Callahan) dive into the world of HR for startups. How does a good HR professional partner with a CEO? When you have to fire someone for the first time … and how should it go down? Musical kicker at end: If you thought you couldn't rhyme Oculus, think again. For Ben's debut on the a16z podcast, we included an original song provided by friend of the firm Divine (and produced by a16z's own Chris Lyons). Using the tools of online textual annotation -- the platform Rap Genius, its spinoff site Poetry Genius, or MIT's own Annotation Studio -- readers can collaborate on annotating or interpreting a work, make their annotations public, and respond to interpretations by others. We will be joined by creators, facilitators, and users of these sites to discuss how online annotation is changing practices of reading, enriching practices of teaching and learning, and making newly public a previously private encounter with the written word. Speakers: Wyn Kelley is a senior lecturer in Literature. She has worked for many years with the MIT's digital humanities lab, HyperStudio, and is the author of Melville's City: Literary and Urban Form in Nineteenth-Century New York (1996) among other works. Kurt Fendt is Director of HyperStudio, MIT's Center for Digital Humanities. HyperStudio explores the potential of new media technologies for the enhancement of research and education. Jeremy Dean, AKA Lucky_Desperado, is the "Education Czar" at Rap Genius, an online database of song lyrics (and poetry on the spinoff site Poetry Genius) that users can annotate freely. Moderator: Noel Jackson is a Professor of Literature at MIT and author of Science and Sensation in Romantic Poetry (2008).
