The past few weeks have been a lot, I won't lie. Nothing need to know, but life does get in the way at times and this was certainly one of those times. As always, and maybe in the spirit of the anime Shoujo Heroine, we will continue moving forward with time and continue to strive to do our best, whatever that may entail on a day-to-day basis. Podcast notes to follow along with this episode: http://sensationalshegeek.weebly.com/full-archive/ep92-mando-catch-up-ch2021-secret-invasion-blue-beetle-trailers-legacy-of-big-two-female-comic-creatives-more One of the hard points recently was the news of the passing of celebrated geek, musician, actor and voice actor, Lance Reddick. The dust hasn't quite settled enough for the tribute I feel he is required, so I don't have it here on this episode. But he is due the respect of proper obituary on this podcast, so when we are ready, it will happen. In the meantime, if you have any stories of Lance, please feel free to share them wherever you can so I can add that to his tribute. Starting with Tarot 06:41, I remembered this week to give the note on Divinatory Tarot and the Like that I meant to go over last week, and the full article it came from can be found here: http://hearingshofar.blogspot.com/2010/03/aries-shofar-at-pesach.html Card of the Week for our tarot lessons continuation is #5: the Hierophant. I have the description, symbolism, meanings and interpretation, plus a bit of history and some fun pop culture references! Manga of the week 0:19:23 is, ironically, it turns out, Tokyo Demon Bride Story by TADAICHI NAKAMA! Ironic, because I also learned today that this is the last day of it's publication: the manga ends as of today, April 3rd. While it seems to have a fair amount of haters, I found it quite charming and entertaining. Tokyo Demon Bride story can be found on the Shonen Jump app. Manga News for the week 22:26 includes the MyAnimeList Ultimate List of Manga Recommendations (https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2023-03-31/myanimelist-releases-ultimate-list-of-manga-recommendations/.196585 ) as well as a number of other starts and finales. Comic Book News 25:50 is a touch heavy this week, starting with the frankly ludicrous twitter debate of Comics vs Manga, and going into the sad truth of our female creators in comics, and how their legacies are sabotaged by the publishers who hired them. The discussion came from the following tweet: https://twitter.com/ComicBookHerald/status/1636013058890903553?s=20 . We also gave some time and thought to the legacy of Carol Danvers, and how the cancellation of her series at issue 50 is NOT a good decision for anyone involved, even so much as to relate to the previous point about female Big Two creators. Plus I have some King/Sampere Wonder Woman thoughts, which I don't think anyone will have an answer for until her landmark 800th issue. I talk a bit about the kick-off's from 3/22 0:37:49 plus some of what was new this past week, 3/29. As always, this is only a tiny fraction of all comic releases each week, so be sure to contact your local comic purveyor for the full details on what you may be interested in! Comics are, as always, for everyone. We get into the TV/MOVIES segement 0:41:31 ith what's New and Noteworthy lately, including Yellowjackets season 2, Wellmania, Unstable (wow, bit of trend here, eh?), School Spirits, and more. We're back to having a PROPER News/Announcements segment this week, starting with the RUMORS: 48:13, then MCU: 51:59 including the leaving of Victoria Alonso and Ike Perlmutter, Secret Invasion info and theories, the necessary mentioning of changes that may come to Loki season 2's cast, Liv Tyler's Betty Ross, and the casting of Wonder Man's brother, Grim Reaper. Then DCU: 1:03:16 talking Batman 2's villain, a certain unfortunate project, and of course, the Blue Beetle trailer! Big ups and downs in the pop culture news this week, for sure. Anime News 1:06:58 has me talking Spring 2023 Lineup English Dubs (no dates! why no dates, Crunchyroll?) as well as new Anime and show announcements, including the Netflix Scott Pilgrim project, Konosuba, Re:Zero, Spy x Family, Girlfriend Girlfriend, and more! Finally, I get caught up with where we're at with the Mandalorian season 3, talking chapters 20 and 21: the Foundling and the Pirate, respectively. From space pterodactyls to HOLY SHIT I forgot to finish talking about episode 21...ummmmm oops. I'll see if I remembe to talk about the Armorer + Bo Katan next week! heh. oops. And that's it! happy to have you here. Please rate/like my episodes so they get seen by more listeners, and thank you as always for your support. Next week we'll talk card #6, the Lovers, plus a new Manga of the week, more shows and movies and Mando, more anime, and tons of fun, I hope. You have probably already seen one of her videos cross your social media feed - she interpretive dances her feelings, thoughts, and philosophies. She is also a filmmaker and the founder of CaveLight Productions. Her work is quasi–radical, somewhat-existential, and mostly funny. At the beginning of this episode, I share some thoughts on the importance of stewarding our dreams vs. sitting back and "going with the flow" or waiting for them to happen on their own time, how being overly flowy with our dreams can actually be a way of staying small and that maybe we have to take a more active role in making our dreams come true. Our guest in this episode, Toni Nagy caught my eye with her captivating interpretive dances which involve unique movements and spoken word work meshed together, in her dances she's expressing thoughts, working out how she's feeling about stuff, she's talking about philosophy. It's a little bit of activism even maybe. When we get to the part of the conversation where Tony starts to talk about shadow. I was nodding so hard. I thought my earphones were gonna fall off. I love what she says about shadow. You know, there's so much talk about how to recognize and ignore the , negative limiting beliefs that are holding us back. And listen out for the part about negative self talk! She has a really interesting hot take on that and how there can actually be wisdom in some of it! On Comedy Roundtable, our hosts Jamie Bendall, Adam Haigh and Jamie Hernan interview stand up comedians, and other funny folks, in a series of segments during which the guests choose from a set of categories to answer lightning round questions. Sometimes off the wall, occasionally contemplative, the questions inspire fun conversations and give our listeners the chance to get to know the comedians they have heard on the radio, seen online or enjoyed during a live performance. Octogenarian comedian Sandra Risser took time out from getting standing ovations at the Punchline Comedy Club during the World Series of Comedy to sit down at the Comedy Roundtable and answer questions from categories "Drinking" and "Can't Go Away Empty Handed."Some might call Sandra Risser a late bloomer, considering she didn't start performing stand up comedy until her 60s; however, she was just too busy being a trailblazing computer programmer, amateur competitive body builder, theatre actress and designated driver when needed. Sandra has performed around the country, including in the World Series of Comedy in Atlanta, where she received a standing ovation (just like she did at the US Comedy Contest). You must see her perform live. Fiona O’Loughlin is Australian comedy royalty; a woman whose sense of humour and storytelling opened up an entirely new career in the late-90s for the mother-of-five from Alice Springs. However, by her own admission, it was a career that nearly killed her following a well-documented battle with alcoholism. In this incredibly raw episode of FORTY, Fiona reveals a recent diagnosis has turned her world upside down. It’s been a ‘seismic shift’ for the stories she has told herself; from the little seven-year-old girl who struggled with times tables, to the wife who developed coping mechanisms during tricky conversations, to the public figure who suffered through the disease that is addiction. Only now - in her ‘third chapter’ of life - has Fiona found overwhelming levels of both freedom and relief to sort through the past and find layers of forgiveness. So, what happens when you learn something that changes everything? We find out in FORTY. This week on The First Run, Chris and Matt return to the DCEU with ‘Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)'. It's been a mixed bag (at best) for the DC Comics film adaptations, much to Chris' chagrin. Can Harley, The Huntress, Black Canary, and the gang continue the revitalization of the DC Cinematic Universe? Then it's the Shudder feature, ‘Bliss'. Writer/Director Joe Begos brings us a unique take on a classic movie monster. Is it a winning move? Or is this version a wild misfire? There's the regularly entertaining rundown of the big releases on Blu-ray & DVD, featuring the Straight to DVD and Streaming Picks of the Week. But wait, there's more as Matt and Chris review their Oscars results from the 2020 Academy Awards. The show closes with Chris and Matt revealing their 5 Favorite Female Comic Book Characters. Who makes the cut? And how many of Chris' picks end up being mainstream?00:00-14:23: Intro/Birds Of Prey14:24-22:13: Home Video Picks22:14-27:51: 2020 Oscars Wrap Up27:52-35:07: Bliss35:08-54:19: 5 Favorite Female Comic Characters54:20-55:32: Wrap UpTheme music by Jamal Malachi Ford-Bey

If you're a regular listener, you know that Carmen Morales has been on the show a couple of times. But the other day, it hit me that I've never had her on as an ACTUAL GUEST. Never even in real life have I asked her how she got started, or what her road has been like, or what her view is on being a woman in comedy. This episode is BY FAR one of my favorites and it just came out so INSTANTLY. I laugh through a lot of it but I really do feel like that's just a part of being around Carmen. Listen and find out why I love this girl so much that I hate her.
