And here's the thing that's really freaking me out. It's set in Marseille in France in 1940. The US hasn't even entered the war yet. And everywhere they go, there is only terrible coffee. Over and over, the main character drinks undrinkable coffee or brown water standing in for coffee. And I know this is not nearly as bad as the bombings and the arrests and the people being ripped from their families but even the rich people in this book have to drink terrible coffee. To keep reading I'm Worried About the Coffee visit the Songs for the Struggling Artist blog. This is Episode 444Song: Java JiveImage by Nathan Dumlao via UnsplashTo support this podcast:Give it 5 stars in Apple Podcasts. On this episode, I spoke to three wonderful creatives from the Mary & George team, including makeup and hair designer Paul Gooch, production designer Helen Scott and costume designer Annie Symons. Gooch is an Oscar nominee for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, a BAFTA Award winner Alice in Wonderland, an Emmy nominee, and a Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Award winner. Scott is a BAFTA Television Craft Award winner for Small Axe, a Royal Television Society Craft & Design Award nominee for The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies, and a British Independent Film Award winner for Living. Symons is a BAFTA TV Award winner for Worried About the Boy, a British Independent Film Award nominee for Benediction, an Emmy winner for Great Expectations (nominee for Mary & George!), and a 3x winner of the Royal Television Society Craft & Design Award. *** MORE ABOUT MARY & GEORGE: Mary & George is inspired by the unbelievable true story of Mary Villiers (Julianne Moore), who moulded her beautiful and charismatic son, George (Nicholas Galitzine), to seduce King James I (Tony Curran) and become his all-powerful lover. Through outrageous scheming, the pair rose from humble beginnings to become the richest, most titled and influential players the English court had ever seen, and the King's most trusted advisors. And with England's place on the world stage under threat from outside forces and rioters taking to the streets to denounce the King, the stakes could not have been higher. Prepared to stop at nothing and armed with her ruthless political steel, Mary married her way up the ranks, bribed politicians, colluded with criminals and clawed her way into the heart of the Establishment, making it her own. Mary & George is a dangerously daring historical psychodrama about an outrageous mother and son who schemed, seduced and killed to conquer the court of England and the bed of King James I. The series was nominated for 1 Primetime Emmy Award.

In 2021, people started to trust business organizations more than governments, NGOs or the media, according to global research by the Edelman Trust Baraometer. The Covid pandemic has seen people around the globe question their trust in all forms of leadership. What impact does this have on business leaders? Can organizations rebuild trust? What are the building blocks of trust? Sandra Sucher, co-author of “The Power of Trust: How Companies Build It, Lose It, Regain It” (https://amzn.to/3pny7Uu) draws back the layers of what trust actually is, how to build it, how to maintain it through adversity, and most importantly, how to rebuild it when it's been shattered. Along with her co-author, Shalene Gupta, Sandra has devised the four key foundations of trust; competence, motives, means and impact. We ask Sandra about the significance of these steps, how they can be harnessed, as well as the impact on trust that Covid has had, specifically how vaccine mandates have affected it. Throughout our conversation and her book, Sandra illustrates her insights with a plethora of rich business examples.  If you are a regular listener to Behavioral Grooves, you can become a special Behavioral Grooves Patreon member by donating to our work: https://www.patreon.com/behavioralgrooves. Pregnant and birthing mothers face unprecedented challenges in birth choices during the Coronavirus pandemic. Not only are they concerned about exposure to the virus; but also, many are being told they may have to give birth alone - without the presence of their very own partners, let alone their doulas and other immediate family members. As hospitals across the country have begun to ban labor support, expecting parents face the possible reality of not sharing the birth of their child with each other — and the babies’ fathers missing out on the birth entirely. Today, three expectant mothers share the impacts of social isolation during pregnancy, and their frustrations, hopes, and suddenly-shifting plans for giving birth in the time of Coronavirus. Tune in for this intimate discussion on Covid-19 and its emotional impact on pregnancy and birth.ACOG: Coronavirus (COVID-19), Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: A Message for PatientsCDC Update: COVID-19 for Pregnancy and Breastfeeding WomenNational Perinatal Association: COVID-19La Leche League International: Coronavirus and PregnancyHarvard Medical School: Pregnant and Worried About the New Coronavirus?International Confederation of Midwives Statement on Women's Rights During Corona PandemicCorona Virus Global Tracker* * * * * * * * * *If you enjoyed this episode of the Down To Birth Show, please share with your pregnant and postpartum friends!Between episodes, connect with us on Instagram @DownToBirthShow to see behind-the-scenes production clips and join the conversation by responding to our questions and polls related to pregnancy, childbirth and early motherhood.
