Do you have big dreams? It's one thing to have grand dreams and lofty aspirations, but it's another thing entirely to roll up your sleeves and do the work to make those dreams a reality. Here's the thing - Dreaming big is only half the equation. That's where Believe Bigger swoops in like the secret sauce that transforms your dreams from mere wishes into shining beacons of possibility.Think about this: our dreams are often limited not by their magnitude but by the scope of our faith.
In a world often bustling with distractions and external pressures, the pursuit of happiness can sometimes feel like an elusive dream. What if I told you that the key to unlocking your happiness lies not in the external world but within you? Your desire to be happy is not just a fleeting wish; it's a powerful force residing deep within you.We have an innate human desire to experience joy, fun, and happiness... and to live fulfilling lives. Think about it—no matter where you're tuning in from, and I have a global audience, we universally share this one thing—we all want to be happy. Oh, BTW… did you know that today is - International Day of Happiness?
Your dreams are not mere wishes; if God placed them in your heart, they are destined to become your reality. When you partner with God and take intentional, faith-fueled action steps toward your dreams, you open yourself up to blessings that will flow into your life.
When you're struggling with disbelief, turning to God can be the most transformative step you take. By partnering with Him and anchoring your faith in His unwavering love and provision, you can cultivate a deep sense of trust in fulfilling your dreams.Additionally, drawing inspiration from others who have achieved what you desire can ignite a profound sense of possibility and belief within you
This is a common struggle… it's called self-doubt.
Have you ever found yourself stuck in the cycle of disappointment, wondering why certain dreams didn't come true or why certain doors seemed to close? Perhaps you've experienced those moments, and you're left questioning and pondering the what-ifs.In those moments of uncertainty, it's easy to feel lost and disheartened. But what if I told you there's a greater, divine plan at work?
Have you ever wanted something so badly that it consumed your every thoughtPicture this: You've planted the seed of a dream. You water it with expectations, nurture it with plans, and wait for it to bloom with success and joy. You want this dream to come true so badly that you pursue it with everything you have. But, despite your best efforts, those dreams didn't sprout the way you imagined they would. That's when you realize you may have fallen into the trap of false hope.
In tonight's show the dads kick off with a little catch up, a little Canada chat, a little January chatter, and then they'll move on to parent funny tweets about housecleaning. Then onto the smart articles by smart people section with tonight's article “The Secret to Living a Happy and More Fulfilling Life” and then they have a quick quiz on How often should you wash the sheets? The dishtowels? The rugs? The dog bowl? Take our cleaning quiz, we bet you'll be surprised. Plus MK gets stuck in Canada, CRX doesn't wash his dog bowl, Ben carries coal in his car, Mark uses a crystal for deoderant and the guys fully breakdown the art of dishwashing. We're not parenting experts, but we listen to them, we interview them, we read what they have to say and then report back to you and ourselves to see how we're doing. It's a place to put your feet up or down relax, listen and let us do the legwork, research and reading. All articles, interviews and show notes are now available at www.dadtimeoutshow.com

Your intentional actions nurture your dreams to bloom and come to fruition.
Welcome to Bri Books! From sexy fiction to fascinating history, here's a look at what I'm reading in 2024. For a book lover, the new year is the definition of a blank slate. The books of 2024 offer escapes of all kinds. Below, I'vm nominating 8 books I can't wait to read in January and February. In this episode, I'm rounding up 8 titles I can't wait to read. 1:05: ‘From Slave Cabins to the White House: Homemade Citizenship in African American Culture' by Koritha Mitchell. I'm a cottagecore princess, and I wanted to get to the roots of domesticity in the US. In high school I was obsessed with domestic/ Victorian values during the Industrial Revolution, and noticed the glaring absence of free Black American women from this history. But that doesn't mean we weren't there. In the book, Koritha Mitchell analyzes canonical texts by and about African American women to lay bare the hostility these women face as they invest in traditional domesticity. Tracing how African Americans define and redefine success in a nation determined to deprive them of it, Mitchell plumbs the works of Frances Harper, Zora Neale Hurston, Lorraine Hansberry, Toni Morrison, Michelle Obama, and others. These artists honor black homes from slavery and post-emancipation through the Civil Rights era to "post-racial" America. Mitchell follows black families asserting their citizenship in domestic settings while the larger society and culture marginalize and attack them, not because they are deviants or failures but because they meet American standards. ‘From Slave Cabins to the White House' illuminates the links between African American women's homemaking and citizenship in history and across literature. 4:15: ‘The Temp Economy: From Kelly Girls to Permatemps in Postwar America' by Erin Hatton. Everyone knows that work in America is not what it used to be. Layoffs, outsourcing, contingent work, disappearing career ladders—these are the new workplace realities for an increasing number of people. But why? In ‘The Temp Economy,' Erin Hatton takes one of the best-known icons of the new economy—the temp industry—and finds that it is more than just a symbol of this degradation of work. Succinct, highly readable, and drawn from a vast historical record of industry documents, ‘The Temp Economy' is a one-stop resource for anyone interested in the temp industry or the degradation of work in postwar America. 6:50: ‘New York, New York, New York: Four Decades of Success, Excess, and Transformation' by Thomas Dyja. A lively, immersive history by an award-winning urbanist of New York City's transformation, and the lessons it offers for the city's future. Dyja's sweeping account of this metamorphosis shows it wasn't the work of a single policy, mastermind, or economic theory, nor was it a morality tale of gentrification or crime. Instead, three New Yorks evolved. Dyja weaves New Yorkers famous, infamous, and unknown—Yuppies, hipsters, tech nerds, and artists; community organizers and the immigrants who made this a truly global place—into a narrative of a city creating ways of life that would ultimately change cities everywhere. 9:12: ‘Fashion Killa: How Hip-Hop Revolutionized High Fashion' by music journalist Sowmya Krishnamurthy was released in October of 2023. A cinematic narrative of glamour, grit, luxury, and luck, ‘Fashion Killa' draws on exclusive interviews with the leaders of the fashion world to tell the story of the hip-hop artists, designers, stylists, and unsung heroes who fought the power and reinvented style around the world over the last fifty years. In the book, Krishnamurthy explores the connections between the DIY hip-hop scene and the exclusive upper-echelons of high fashion. She discusses the sociopolitical forces that defined fashion and tracks the influence of music and streetwear on the most exclusive (and exclusionary) luxury brands. At the intersection of cultural commentary and oral history, ‘Fashion Killa' commemorates the contributions of hip-hop to music, fashion, and our culture at large. 11:10: ‘Prayer and Our Bodies' by Flora Slosson Wuellner. Written in 1987, this book explores the very real relationship that exists between the bodily self and the spiritual self. Readers will heighten their awareness of the interactions among body, mind, and spirit. If you're someone who struggles to appreciate your body, this book is an important touchstone toward healing our relationships with ourselves and others. It talks about how prayer isn't just what we say, but how we live our lives. Flora Slosson Wuellner, a retired ordained minister of the United Church of Christ, is well known throughout the United States and Europe for her writings and retreat leadership that focus on the inner healing that God freely offers through Christ. She has written 14 books on inner healing and renewal. 12:36: ‘You Learn By Living: Eleven Keys for a More Fulfilling Life' by Eleanor Roosevelt. This wise and intimate book on how to get the most of out life was gifted to me by a lovely friend named Carrie. At the age of seventy-six, Roosevelt penned this simple guide to living a fuller life—a powerful volume of enduring commonsense ideas and heartfelt values. Offering her own philosophy on living, she takes readers on a path to compassion, confidence, maturity, civic stewardship, and more. 14:30: ‘The Pillow Book' by Sei Shonagon. Written by 10th century court gentlewoman Sei Shonagon, ostensibly for her own amusement, ‘The Pillow Book' offers a fascinating exploration of life among the nobility at the height of the Heian period, describing the exquisite pleasures of a confined world in which poetry, love, fashion, and whim dominated, while harsh reality was kept firmly at a distance. Moving elegantly across a wide range of themes including nature, society, and her own flirtations, Sei Shonagon provides a witty and intimate window on a woman's life at court in classical Japan. 16:30: ‘Homebodies' by Tembe Denton-Hurst is already a fantastic read. An insightful, propulsive, and deeply sexy debut novel about a young Black writer whose world is turned upside down when she loses her coveted job in media and pens a searing manifesto about racism in the industry. A meditation on identity, self-worth and the toll of corporate racism, Homebodies is a portrait of modern Black womanhood with a protagonist you won't soon forget.

In this episode, I explain the journey I went through to become the energy worker and lightworker mentor I am today. I talk about how my intuition (via the guidance of my to-be-born child) gave me the courage to leave my secure university position.I also explore how my kid's birth date corresponds to my own astrological natal chart. In this exploration, I learned that his birth directly corresponded to many of my ego deaths. His birth was written in the stars in more ways than one. If you're a lightworker who wonders if you have the courage to make the decision you need to make on your trailblazing path, may this episode inspire you. How is it possible that we live life at ninety miles an hour but never seem to get to where we want to be? Why do we have more material goods, more access to information, more ways to interact than ever before, yet still feel unfulfilled? Why are we better off than any society in history yet often feel tapped out, unmotivated, overworked, and unsatisfied? Each of those questions has the same answer: We are not practicing awareness. That statement seems pretty simple on the surface, but to practice awareness, you have to stop: stop running from one activity to the next; stop comparing yourself to everyone else; stop trying to be who others think you should be. When you stop all of these things, you give yourself space to quiet your mind, reflect on your experiences, and get to know yourself better. And when you know yourself better, you can identify what you want out of life and pursue it, which leads to a more fulfilled life. The journey to fulfillment begins with an awareness of who you are. Traveling a road of personal growth, you will become aware of what makes you tick—what gives you energy when you think about a certain topic, subject, or pursuit—and what drains every last drop of energy. You may not always like what you discover, but you will be inspired by it. The point is to become aware of who you are and who you're becoming. The journey of self-awareness is powerful because increased awareness brings increased understanding, and increased understanding empowers you to make changes in your life that last. In this episode, Valeria Teles interviews Robert Commodari about awareness which is one of the many messages in his book: Better Than You Think: Developing Awareness for a More Fulfilling Life. Rob comes from a family of seven siblings growing up in a two-bedroom 1 bath 745 sq ft house in Northeast Baltimore City. He is the son of an Italian immigrant and a red-haired German. Money was hard to come by while growing up. Rob started working at age 11 delivering newspapers and paid his own tuition through high school and college. He played baseball in College while attending Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fl. After graduating from FAU, Rob took a job as a stockbroker in North Palm Beach, Fl. Arriving early one for work, in July of 1990, he noticed a book sitting on his mentor's desk, The Greatest Salesman in the World, by Og Mandino which he asked to borrow that evening. Rob finished reading the book that evening and hasn't looked back since. It was after reading The Greatest Salesman in the World and Part II of Og's bestseller that Rob had the inspiration to write and speak. Rob began goal writing in the winter of 1992 but had never set a goal to write a book or speak until 2001. It was spring of 2001 that he gave his first inspirational speech to a crowd of approximately 650 people. He was then encouraged to join Toastmasters, an international speaking organization to hone his skills as a speaker. It was in 2005 when he wrote a goal to write a book. Rob knew he wanted the book to be centered on the theme of awareness but didn't feel worthy enough of being an author. He struggled for years and wrote sparingly before he finally committed to finishing the writing of his book in January of 2017. A serial entrepreneur, Rob has been involved in several businesses. He had his own newspaper business from 1994 through Dec 31st of 2003. Rob was partners in a cigar business in the mid 90's. He has flipped a few houses of the years and has spoken to several organizations over that time as well. He has spoken to organizations such as: Wells Fargo, Sherwin Williams, Wachovia, M & T Bank, BB& T Bank, The Baltimore Sun, and others. Rob has spoken to students at schools and inmates in prison several times. When Rob speaks he is moved by the spirit to connect with others and to inspire others to realize their dreams. Season 2.Episode 23: Frances on Embracing Change in the 1930’s Welcome to Tea, Toast and Trivia. Thank you for listening in. A few weeks ago, Frances and I were discussing the Great Depression, the severe worldwide economic depression of the 1930’s, which started in 1929. We still talk about with the market crash of October 29, 1929 known as Black Tuesday. It was a decade that experienced the most extensive, deepest, and most widespread depression in the 20th century. It gripped the entire world with devastating consequences. Unemployment was as high as 25% in the United States and for some countries, unemployment rose as high as 33%. Frances lived through the decade of the 1930’s and has talked about those years in a series of podcasts. This podcast is about the transition between the 1920’s, a decade of plenty and the 1930’s, the decade that would change the world. Frances and my discussion occurred before we knew that our world would soon face a global challenge, Frances’s memories remind us that by working together we can overcome this challenge. So put the kettle on and add to the discussion. Frances and I look forward to your insights on TeaToastTrivia.com. I am your host Rebecca Budd and I’m looking forward to sharing this moment with you. Thank you for joining Frances and me on Tea Toast and Trivia. One last thought – comes from Eleanor Roosevelt: “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” Eleanor Roosevelt, You Learn by Living: Eleven Keys for a More Fulfilling Life

Our music segment for this episode is supplied by 'Obvious Fox' with their original track called "Scotty" - a catchy tune about the recent social-political landscape in Australia. Are you saying YES to life? Everyone wants a happy, prosperous, love-based life, but in order to experience this, we need to have both feet all the way into this human adventure. Dr. Tammi talks about what this means, and how we can have a more committed, fulfilling, joy-filled, love-based all the way in human experience.
Today we’re chatting with Halelly Azulay, who is a consultant, facilitator, leadership development strategist, author, and speaker at international conferences and corporate meetings. In 2006, Halelly founded TalentGrow LLC, a consulting company focused on developing leaders and teams, especially for enterprises experiencing explosive growth or expansion that want a more proactive, strategic approach to leadership development. An expert in leadership, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and authentic networking with more than 20 years of experience, Halelly develops leaders that people *want* to follow. She is the author of two books, Employee Development on a Shoestring and Strength to Strength: How Working from Your Strengths Can Help You Lead a More Fulfilling Life. She offers actionable leadership insights and advice on her blog and her leadership podcast, the TalentGrow Show. Halelly and I connected through one of our past podcast guests, Kate Swoboda. I was excited to hear Halelly’s perspective on how we can start to integrate some of these skills we’re working on at home, like personal development and emotional intelligence, in the workplace. I’ve mentioned this on a few different episodes at this point, but I really think overcoming burnout and starting to enjoy our lives as working parents is something we need to attack from two different angles: first, within ourselves as individuals. But I also think we really need to start making big changes in companies also, in order to see any sort of widespread shift in our society. That’s the sort of work Halelly is doing, so I wanted to dive deeper with her here to learn more about how we can integrate more emotional intelligence not only at home, but at work too. Halelly publishes a blog and a weekly leadership podcast called The TalentGrow Show to develop leaders that people want to follow. In her conversation with us, Halelly describes the reasons why most people leave companies and how this can be avoided through leadership development and thinking outside the box. She shares valuable insights from her book Employee Development on a Shoestring and provides powerful proof that improving your leadership skills doesn't have to cost a lot of money. We explore the impact of mentorship and volunteerism and how these two strategies used properly are far more beneficial than sending your employees to a training course. We also discuss what to do when a manager or leader in your organization is not ‘getting it' despite your best efforts. Want to further enhance your effectiveness as a leader and develop a culture of trust? Start by asking for feedback from the people around you. Find out what you are doing well, and what you can do differently to be a better leader and manager. Then offer the same feedback to others using a 5:1 ratio of positive feedback to constructive feedback. These are just a few of the valuable insights that Halelly offers you as you listen to this episode. Key Takeaways Most people leave jobs because they're leaving a non-supportive manager. Think outside the classroom. Be strategic vs goal oriented. Seek feedback: (1) “What's one thing that I'm doing well?” (2) "What's one thing that I could do differently that would make me even more effective?" DO NOT serve the feedback sandwich. People are usually afraid of feedback because of poorly delivered feedback, manipulative feedback or overdue feedback that's been hoarded up. Feedback should be as close to in the moment as possible. If it's constructive feedback it should be privately delivered, and it should be given in isolation of other feedback. Catch people doing things well without the “but”. Create an imbalance between positive and negative interactions such that the positive far outweighs the negative ones. The Big Secret to Time Management and a More Fulfilling Life
Joel F. Wade, Ph.D. is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Life and Executive Coach, writer, and speaker. He is the author of Mastering Happiness: Ten Principles for Living a More Fulfilling Life; a book that makes the burgeoning research from the field of Positive Psychology accessible and useful for anybody with a desire to live a happier, more resilient life. He has played competitive water polo for many years, playing at UC Santa Barbara on their 1979 NCAA championship team, captaining their league champion team of 1981, and as a member of the US National team. Now in his fifties, he continues competing at the Master’s level. From these experiences and through his work, he knows what it means to be passionate and devoted to a course of action, what it takes to see it through to success, and what resilience and gratification – and great fun - can be borne of such dedication. Having personally traveled to over 60 countries covering six continents, he has seen and experienced the tremendous variety of lifestyles and cultures; but also the great common ground of human existence. The specifics are as varied as the barrenness of the Kalahari Desert to the richness of the Amazon jungle; but a good life centers on common themes that are intrinsic to human nature: love, friendship, resilience, faith, absorption in one’s activities, mastering one’s impulses, and finding and building a sense of meaning and purpose in life. In his work with businesses, what Joel offers is not some idealistic system for creating a perfect business culture; but practical, real life coaching, teaching, and problem solving for bringing out the best that you and your people have to offer your hard earned creation: your business. In his presentations, he teaches a vast array of effective and tested tools and skills that you can use right now to improve your happiness and effectiveness in your life. If you want to learn how you can live a happier, more satisfying life, not as some sort of idealistic or theoretical fantasy, but taking your actual life, as it is, with all of the hardships and problems as well as the strengths and blessings, then you’ll want to have Dr. Wade come and speak to your group. Pro-Track Profile This month, Dr. Wade completed the 2010 Pro-Track class offered by the Northern California Chapter of the National Speakers Association. I asked him about his practice and his plans to put the lessons he has learned in Pro-Track into practice. To hear what he told me, click on the podcast icon below.
