This one stood out to me because I know I have fears and I know they are getting in the way of me living my life to the fullest. It comes from Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) and it's a short but powerful reminder: “The fears we don't face become our limits.” - Robin Sharma. I have had things getting in my way for 20 + years and to top that off, not only do I know about them - a few of my best friends know it too. You see, they have been around me that long, always encouraging me that I can do these things, but the final decision needs to come from me. Another key element. Since it's been 20 or so years, I look ahead to another 20 years. Yikes!! I'll be just around the corner (if I'm blessed enough to see this corner) from turning 80 years old!!!! Time waits for nobody!! I don't have all the time in the world where we think we do sometimes. I will continue to try and “talk to myself, rather than listen to myself” in going after whatever I have to do to get through these fears. Be intentional about the way that you talk to yourself.” It's an old saying that I have heard for a long time, but since I needed it as recently as this morning, I needed to share it with you. It's connected with - “talk to yourself rather than listen to yourself.” Most of the time when I'm feeling down about things in life, I start listening to the critic inside of me, instead of the coach and cheerleader! I know I need to continue to tap into that coach & cheerleader, without me having to wait for this quote coming back into my life. It's something I know I need to do, want to do, and will do!! He tortured Kerie and her sister in ways that are unthinkable. The girls weren't allowed to tell anyone because "next time will be worse" if they did. A childhood dominated by always being in a "fight or flight" state of mind causes damage that stays with the person for decades, creating the right set of circumstances for others to abuse you.At the encouragement of one of her friends, after her divorce Kerie entered the online dating world. This was a world that she knew nothing about because Kerie was married when the online thing launched. The first guy she "matched" with started giving Kerie everything that she thought was lacking in her life. He showed her lots of love and attention. Then everything turned dark. He hit her, threatened her, and placed tracking devices on her car. He began showing up wherever Kerie was. She didn't think the nightmare would ever end. In our interview, Kerie shares her personal story of surviving childhood abuse. You will learn about how she finally got away from the predator who hurt her as an adult. And you will learn how Kerie embraced psychotherapy to work on herself, a journey that continues today. Kerie is an inspiration. She shows no bitterness or lingering resentment.
