It's Thursday, February 20th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus 74% rise in hate speech in India targeting Christians and Muslims While India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President Donald Trump last Wednesday to discuss the threat of increased tariffs between the two countries, the Center for the Study of Organized Hate found a 74% rise in hate speech incidents last year in India compared to 2023. About 10% of the 1,165 incidents targeted Christians — a population that makes up just 2.3% of the population — while more than 98% of cases targeted Muslims, either alone or together with Christians, reports International Christian Concern. In John 15:18-19, Jesus said, “If the world hates you, be aware that it hated Me before it hated you. … Because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” Judge gives Dept. of Government Efficiency massive win On Tuesday, a federal judge refused to immediately block Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency from accessing government data systems or participating in worker layoffs, reports The Guardian. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, an Obama appointee, found that there were legitimate questions about the billionaire's authority, but said there was not enough evidence of grave legal harm to justify a temporary restraining order. The decision came in reaction to a February 13th lawsuit filed by 14 attorneys general in Democratic states challenging the Department of Government Efficiency's authority to access sensitive government data. But the Trump administration has maintained that layoffs are ordered by agency heads. Biden's EPA advisor admits $50 billion ‘insurance policy' against Trump In an undercover video that was released last December, Project Veritas revealed that the Environmental Protection Agency was frantically doling out billions of dollars before then President-elect Donald Trump took office on January 20th, 2025. The video revealed that Brent Efron, Special Advisor for Implementation at the EPA, was having drinks with a undercover Project Veritas reporter, bragging about how much hard-earned taxpayer money he was doling out to liberal climate groups. Listen. EFRON: “We've given out, like, tens of billions of dollars.” REPORTER: “The EPA has?” EFRON: “Like last year, like $50 billion.” REPORTER: “$50 million?” EFRON: “No. billion dollars. Billion with a B.” REPORTER: “$50 billion?” EFRON: “Yes, for climate things.” Shockingly, Efron described what they were doing at the EPA leading up to Trump's January 20th, 2025 inauguration as throwing gold bars off the Titanic. EFRON: “It truly feels like we're on the Titanic, and we're throwing, like, gold bars off the back end.” REPORTER: “Does it really?” EFRON: “Yeah.” REPORTER: “It's gotta feel weird.” EFRON: “It's weird. I mean, it's it's not good vibes. It's not good. I mean, everyone's very sad.” REPORTER: “Where are the gold bars going to?” EFRON: “Non-profits, states, tribes, cities.” REPORTER: “Anything, like, in the news that I would know of?” EFRON: “Not yet.” The undercover Project Veritas reporter wanted to know what would happen if the Trump people discovered what the Biden appointees were doing with the money. REPORTER: “What happens if they try to stop it? They can?” EFRON: “When they come in, if we haven't gotten out the door, then they can stop it.” REPORTER: “You've got like two months. If they don't get it out by a certain date. What's that date?” EFRON: “It's the inauguration, the 20th. It's noon on the 20th of January.” REPORTER: “You can work right down to the minute?” EFRON: “It's probably like a little after noon. Yeah.” REPORTER: “Hey, throw a couple billion here or there.” EFRON: “It's until the Trump people come in and tell us we can no longer give out money.” REPORTER: “Wow!” Efron also said, “We gave them [the nonprofits] the money because… it was an insurance policy against Trump winning. Because they aren't [a government agency], they're safer from Republicans taking the money away.” Trump's EPA Administrator found $20 billion siphoned away by Biden's people Lee Zeldin, Trump's Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, was horrified by this revelation, reports The Western Journal. ZELDIN: “An extremely disturbing video circulated two months ago featuring a Biden EPA political appointee talking about how they were tossing gold bars off the Titanic, rushing to get billions of your tax dollars out the door before Inauguration Day. The gold bars were tax dollars, and ‘tossing them off the Titanic' meant the Biden administration knew they were wasting it.” To his credit, Zeldin was able to recover $20 billion of our taxpayer money, according to his Monday video. ZELDIN: “Fortunately, my awesome team at EPA has found the gold bars. Shockingly, roughly $20 billion of your tax dollars were parked at an outside financial institution by the Biden EPA. This scheme was the first of its kind in EPA history, and it was purposely designed to obligate all of the money in a rush job with reduced oversight. “Even further, this pot of $20 billion was awarded to just eight entities that were then responsible for doling out your money to [Non Governmental Organizations] and others, at their discretion, with far less transparency. Just under $7 billion was sent to one entity called the Climate United Fund.” Zeldin explained what he intends to do now. ZELDIN: “Here's my position as EPA Administrator. The financial agent agreement with the bank needs to be instantly terminated, and the bank must immediately return all of the ‘gold bars' that the Biden administration tossed off the Titanic. “EPA needs to reassume responsibility for all of these funds. We will review every penny that has gone out the door. I will be referring this matter to the Inspector General's office, and we'll work with the Justice Department as well.” Presbyterian Church in America repents of helping illegals stay And finally, The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) recently issued a statement repenting for guidance on one of its websites that advised illegal immigrants how to avoid detainment by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, reports The Christian Post. After it went viral on X last week, the conservative Presbyterian denomination deleted a resource page titled "Refugee & Immigrant Ministry for Churches: Help Immigrants Facing 2025 Policy Changes.” It was published in January by Mission to North America, a subsidiary of the PCA. Megan Basham, author of Shepherds for Sale: How Evangelical Leaders Traded Truth for A Leftist Agenda, tweeted, “The verbiage of this document from the [Presbyterian Church in America] is overall emotionally manipulative, showing no respect for U.S. immigration law. It assumes that the only way you can love your immigrant neighbor is by helping him continue to remain in the country illegally.” After the guidance was deleted, Mission to North America Director Irwyn Ince issued an extensive statement of repentance. He wrote, "We affirm that it is our Christian duty to obey the lawful commands of the civil magistrate and be subject to their authority (Romans 13:1-4; 1 Peter 2:13-14). To counsel otherwise is a sin. We confess that we fell short of our Biblical and Confessional standard. We repent and apologize.” Indeed, 1 Peter 2:13-14 does say, “Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, February 20th, in the year of our Lord 2025. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus 35-year-old Muslim abducted & married 12-year-old Catholic girl A married 35-year-old Muslim man abducted the 12-year-old daughter of his Catholic neighbor and took her to another province, where he forcibly converted her to Islam and married her, reports The Christian Post. Saba Shafique was abducted by Muhammad Ali from outside her home in the Lahore Cantonment in the Punjab Province on January 5, according to her father, Shafique Masih. Ali took her to the city of Shaheed Benazirabad in the Sindh Province. Masih, a Catholic who works as a painter after retiring from the Pakistan Army, said Ali produced a fake marriage certificate on January 8 that states Saba's age as 18, though her birth certificate states she was born on May 16, 2012, making her 12 years old. He lamented that more than a month has passed since his daughter's abduction, yet police were making no effort to rescue her. Isaiah 59:15 says, “Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice.” Pakistan, where 97% of the people are Muslim, is the 9th most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. Man arrested for desecrating altar at Peter's Basilica in the Vatican A Romanian man in his 40s was arrested by Vatican police last Friday after he jumped onto the High Altar in Peter's Basilica and kicked off the historic candelabra along with the altar cloths, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Vatican security guards seized the man and took him into their custody. The altar is situated directly above the tomb of Peter, a disciple of Christ, which is situated in the Vatican crypt. The candles he kicked to the ground date to the mid-1800's. Trump wants to shut down Department of Education President Donald Trump is eager to shut down the Department of Education and return control back to the states, reports Fox News. TRUMP: “We spend more per pupil than any other country in the world, and we're ranked at the bottom of the list. We're ranked very badly. What I want to do is let the states run schools. I believe strongly in school choice. But, in addition to that, I want the states to run schools, and I want Linda [McMahon, Secretary of Education] to put herself out of a job.” Appearing on Fox Business with Stuart Varney, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that President Trump will keep his promise to shut down the Department of Education. LEAVITT: “When you look at the literacy rates, the math and the reading rates of young children and students in America, they are not good. Our nation's report card was released last week, and it showed that only 40% of fourth graders are reading at a proficient level. So clearly, the tens of millions of dollars that the Department of Education is spending every single year is not working. “President Trump wants to empower parents to have a greater say in their child's education system. As for the Department of Education, [To Be Determined] on an announcement there.” VARNEY: “So, you can't confirm that he is going to try to abolish the Department of Education? You can't confirm that for us?” LEAVITT: “I will say that President Trump campaigned on that promise, and I think the American people can expect him to deliver.” More outrageous evidence of USAID taxpayer abuse More evidence to document the waste and abuse of the American taxpayers' money at the United States Agency for International Development or USAID, reports The Blaze.com. Founded in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy, the annual budget of the USAID today is $50 billion. Listen to some examples of your tax dollars being abused. “$7.9 million to teach Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid binary gendered language.” “$4.5 million to combat disinformation in Kazakhstan.” “$2 million for sex changes and homosexual and transgender activism in Guatemala.” “$2.1 million to help the British Broadcasting Corporation value the diversity of Libyan society.” “$10 million worth of USAID-funded meals went to an al-Qaeda linked terrorist group.” “$6 million for tourism in Egypt.” "$5 million to EcoHealth Alliance, one of the key Non-Governmental Organizations funding bat virus research in the Wuhan [China] lab.” “$1.1 million to an Armenian homosexual transgender group.” “$1.5 million to promote homosexual transgender advocacy in Jamaica.” “$2 million to promote homosexual transgender equity through entrepreneurship in Latin America.” “$2.3 million for small-scale gold mining in the Amazon.” “$5.5 million for homosexual transgender activism in Uganda.” Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck and his co-host, Pat Gray, were incredulous. BECK: “Give that list to your friends.” GRAY: “Yeah. Yeah.” BECK: “Hey, what part of this are you for?” GRAY: “Are we just immune to numbers like that now?” BECK: “Yeah, I think we are.” GRAY: “Do we hear trillions now so often, so hundreds of billions and trillions now that maybe, when we hear $20 million for Egypt tourism, maybe we it just doesn't affect us anymore. We're like, ‘Ah, that's not very much.'” BECK: “It's more than most people will pay in income tax their entire life.” GRAY: “Ever, ever in their life.” BECK: “Wasted.” GRAY: “Yeah.” BECK: “And your kids are on the hook for a loan to pay for things like that, because, you know, we're $3 trillion over budget. The biggest enemy we fight is complacency. It's got to stop right now!” Trump calls USAID funding “a big scam” In a Sunday interview with Brett Baier on Fox News Channel, President Trump expressed his outrage over the abuse of tax dollars at USAID as well. TRUMP: “You take a look at the USAID, the kind of fraud in there. Well, we're talking about hundreds of millions of dollars of money that's going to places where it shouldn't be going, where, if I read a list, you'd say this is ridiculous. It's a big scam.” John MacArthur released from hospital And finally, Pastor John MacArthur, host of Grace to You, has been released from the hospital following complications during his recovery from heart and lung surgeries. He is now recovering at home, reports The Christian Post. After enduring a challenging period of recovery from heart surgery, MacArthur has been discharged from the hospital, according to a tweet by Phil Johnson, an elder at MacArthur's Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California. The 85-year-old pastor, known for his extensive Evangelical work and theological teachings, faced multiple health setbacks in recent months that necessitated a prolonged hospitalization. MacArthur has undergone multiple heart operations in the past year and needed additional lung surgery within just a few months. Pray Numbers 6:24-26 for Pastor MacArthur: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.” Plus, it's not too late to send Pastor John MacArthur a get well card. Thanks to a program by The Fertilizer Institute, members of Congress are learning more about the essential elements to growing crops.Allen Spray of Willard Agri Service and grower Bryant Lowe of Lakeside Farms in Delaware recently walked the halls of Congress, meeting with elected officials, their staff and Non-Governmental Organizations, to outline the importance of having sufficient tools to grow crops. They emphasized the Four R Program for fertilizer use – the right rate, source, placement and timing.“It takes us as average everyday citizens to make the country what you want it to be, you have to get involved,” Spray said. Both Spray and Lowe said the trip was worthwhile, with excellent dialogue. They mentioned following up with all parties in Washington, D.C. and being a future information source for them are critically important.

Welcome to the One CA Podcast. Today, Commander Jörg Grössl from the NATO Civil-Military Cooperation Centre of Excellence will discuss the center's contribution to the maritime domain. From research, I found that 80 percent of the world's population lives near a coast, and 90 percent of world's trade is carried by ships. So, we are bringing in Commander Grössl to discuss the CIMIC role in the maritime environment and cooperation with Government and Non-Governmental Organizations to build awareness and mitigate the potential impact of military operations at sea or in the littoral regions. --- One CA is a product of the civil affairs association and brings in people who are current or former military, diplomats, development officers, and field agents to discuss their experiences on the ground with a partner nation's people and leadership. Hani kendilerine, İngilizce'deki NGO'dan (Non-Governmental Organizations) tercüme STK (Sivil Toplum Kuruluşu) diyen örgütler, doğru adıyla ‘çıkar grupları' (interest groups) var ya... Nerede bunlar? Nerede bunlar? Hani, evrensel hukuk, insan hakları, eşitlik, bireysel özgürlükler dendiği zaman mangalda kül bırakmazlardı... Nerede bunlar? Türk Silahlı Kuvvetleri'nin kimyasal silah kullandığını iddia edip PKK'ya omuz veren tabip birlikleri nerede? Ülke itibarına suikast düzenlercesine Türkiye'de hukuk, adalet sisteminin çöktüğünü iddia eden barolar nerede? Her ihaleyi, her yatırımı, her atılımı mahkemelere taşıyıp durdurmaya çalışan, yalan yanlış yakıştırmalarla, çarpıtmalarla milleti galeyana sürüklemek isteyen mühendis, mimar odaları, şehir planlamacıları nerede?

Darius Kamali has been in the Garden several times. He hosts "The Persian Version", runs a Facebook Group devoted to the Iranic peoples and history. He's also worked for Non Governmental Organizations including International Tribunals. Much of this work involved the Kurds and their diaspora. Most notably, in the borders of Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran. So we explore who are the Kurds, why is their situation so complex, and how religion, custom and democracy create a puzzle that remains hard to resolve for what is often referred to as the largest stateless population. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4863095/advertisement

Claire de Mézerville López welcomes political scientist, Daniel Rios Moreno, to the Restorative Works! Podcast. Daniel speaks with us about his role in intervening and diverting youths from the criminal justice system in Bogotá, Columbia. His team uses restorative methods to increase safety in response to violent action committed by youth in detention centers and schools. Daniel's team addresses acts of violence, not by increasing surveillance, but by tapping into what the youth find value in. Doing so creates interpersonal connection between staff and youth and increases safety by helping them respect the space they occupy. Daniel also addresses the skepticism and criticisms of utilizing restorative methods in response to violent crime, citing dramatic reduction in rates of re-offending once youth have made contact with his team. The results have led to the expansion of his team, their reach, and their expertise. His work reminds us that safety and protection does not always come in the form of punitive measures, but instead through honoring what communities hold dear. Daniel is a contractor for the Direction of Adolescent Criminal Responsibility in Bogotá, Columbia's Office of Safety, Coexistence, and Justice. Daniel works for the city government as part of the Juvenile Restorative Justice Program. His work with schools addresses situations of violence involving adolescents and diverts them from the criminal justice system when possible. Daniel is multilingual and earned a postgraduate degree in Management of Non-Governmental Organizations in Argentina. He is currently working towards his Master of Science in Restorative Practices at the IIRP. Tune in to learn more about Daniel's work with youth in Bogotá and his approach to interacting with young offenders.
Today's episode is going to require some context for anyone who's not familiar with the origin of this show. Back in 2017 when I started this podcast I was doing an internship with my friend and mentor Charlie Rendal on bamboo building in Lake Atitlan Guatemala. I had been traveling back and forth from Guatemala for a number of years. I had originally gone down there with a friend to learn Spanish and I ended up coming back for years to see friends and just because I love that country. In my time there it was impossible not to get connected with all kinds of projects and initiatives to try and improve the living conditions for local people. Guatemala is one of the poorest countries in the world, and the second poorest in Latin America by GDP. While I understand that that's not the only meaningful metric for quality of life, there was no ignoring the fact that the opportunities and resources that I saw in most other places I traveled and had taken for granted in my life up until then were drastically lacking in most parts of that country. For this and many other reasons which we'll touch briefly on in today's conversation, everywhere you go in Guatemala you'll find Non Governmental Organizations or NGOs as well as all types of charities and aid entities claiming to work to address everything from malnutrition to ecological challenges, sanitation, infrastructure, education and everything else in between. It seemed like every foreigner who I met who wasn't a backpacker worked for one of these groups and when my friends and I eventually bought a small plot of land and started to put down roots, we began to learn a lot about the aid industry all around us. Between rumors, first hand stories, and even my own experience it became clear that more than a small percentage of these organizations were not as altruistic as they projected. It was well known that many were fronts for money laundering. Others simply paid out large salaries for foreigners to attend events and fundraise while little worked on the ground. Stories of corrupt sequestering of funds were common, and even among these entities that were really committed to their work, I heard so much about communities having solutions forced on them with little say in the matter. Projects getting abandoned before completion, technological fixes handed over with little or no training, and so many others I could go on about. Despite this grim picture I'm painting of the aid industry in Guate, I did get to know and make friends with a handful of people who really took the time to understand and integrate with their chosen communities before devising solutions. I got to know folks who were also putting down roots and really had some skin in the game when it came to the outcomes of their work and impact. Today I want to take a look at one in particular, called Seeds for a Future, as much for the work they're doing as for the approach and learnings that guide their initiative. This organization first came to my attention when my close friend Leilani reached out to put me in touch with Daillen Culver who is their director of operations. Leilani has been on the show before and she is one of the few people I know who has traveled extensively within Guatemala and has an intimate knowledge of both the good and reprehensible aid work that is happening in that country. So when she brought Daillen and Semillas para un Futuro to my attention, I knew it would be worth looking into. In this session both Daillen and Leilani join me to talk about the simple beginnings of this project and the unique context in which it got off the ground. They help to outline the challenges that the communities they work with are facing and the long term approach to co-create solutions along with the people they collaborate with. We also cover the principles that guide the progress and decisions within the project and the external challenges that Daillen and Leilani work from outside to support. Charity and aid work continue to be fraught with controversy and skepticism, and I will not make the assertion today that the approach that Seeds for a future is taking is the only effective one. I do however appreciate the perspective and insight that both of these women bring to such a tricky subject and I hope that it will make space to continue this conversation in future episodes as well as on the Regenerative Skills Discord Community.
Non-Governmental Organizations, Non-Profits and Volunteers have been providing critical services on the battlefield for millennia. Historically the traditional view of medical care in conflict zones was that the military focused on victory and everything else was ancillary, even care of their own wounded. Only in the last few centuries has there been an evolution of care as another focus after completing the mission. Through all of this it was often family members, clergy and Volunteers providing aid to those left to rot on historic battlefields. These NGOs and Volunteers have recognized this gap and organized themselves into powerful coalitions that are able to go where traditional militaries cannot or will not due to political pressures. Sometimes however, there exists an overlap of traditional military presence and NGO response as the situation matures or devolves. Alex Potter and Global Response Management positioned themselves far forward on the front lines of the battles for Mosul when times were tough and the International military and humanitarian response to ISIS was in its infancy. Thank you GRM for your hard work and dedication. We are extremely proud of what your team accomplished and maybe even a little jealous in the bittersweet way that only those who have experienced the horrors of armed conflict can comprehend. www.prolongedfieldcare.org

Speak with Confidence Mike Acker pt 2 One of the best ways of helping other people is to share your wisdom, your knowledge and your experiences with them. That allows them, to basically, learn from your experiences and mistakes and move closer to reaching their goals faster, than trial and error and learning on their own. Podcasts is one way of doing that. Which is why I love interviewing Christian influencers and allowing them to share with you. Other than podcasting, public speaking - at events, meetings, conferences, etc., is truly beneficial. Usually, you will have a chance to meet the speaker and, well, overall – it is just a great way to learn and to network. Amen! But, for some people, the idea of standing up in front of a group of strangers and sharing details from your life is, well, let's just say “nerve wracking!” Some people would rather jump off a bridge than stand up in front of people and start talking, let alone teaching… If that sounds like you, I've got some good news for you today! Our guest today is Mike Acker. He is the son of drug dealers, turned NGO leaders (NGO means “Non-Governmental Organizations” that fight against the drug pandemic). Today, Mike is a keynote and TEDx speaker, executive coach and the author of nine books, (that's right – NINE BOOKS)! including the best-selling “Speak with No Fear,” which spent three years as Amazon's top book on overcoming fear of speaking and was also listed in Forbes “7 Books That Will Help You Conquer the Fear Of Public Speaking.” Known for his authenticity, humor, and engaging presence, Mike has over twenty years of experience as a speaking coach, leadership coach, and public speaker. He is also a former pastor and has worked with and supported several non-profits and relief organizations. His most recent book is “Speak with Confidence: Overcome Self-Doubt, Communicate Clearly and Inspire Your Audience.” Praise God! Today is part TWO of an amazing two part interview! At what point did you decide to get into public speaking? Let's talk about your recent book, “Speaking with Confidence.” Why did you write and publish book now, at this point in your career? Over the course of time, you developed a framework for Executive Presence and Speaking with Confidence. Can you share about this framework with our audience? How is it different from your other books and, for that matter, other books on this topic from other authors? I noticed in your book that you share with your readers how to “make a personal investment” in their topic they will be discussing to ensure success. Can you share a little bit about that? How do you get someone from, let's say, “suffering from stage fright” to delivering a successful presentation? Who should be purchasing this book and what will it do for them? Mike, this has been so interesting. I love how you were able to put, what can be a complicated subject, and just simplified it for your clients and your readers to help achieve success a lot faster than just “trial by fire,” that many do. How can someone obtain a copy of your book, “Speak with Confidence: Overcome Self-Doubt, Communicate Clearly...

Other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Mike Acker?” You have to explain this part about, “son of drug dealers – turned into NGO leaders.” I just want to start right there because that is not something you hear very often! I know Mazatlan is a tourist area now. Was it like that when you were growing up? What was life like for you when you lived in Mexico? Were your bullied while growing up there? Your bio says that this gave you insight into what it was like to be an outsider and survived. I also read that you were lost – in the desert? We hear all of these State Department warnings and things like about tourists being kidnapped, murdered, robbed, etc. today. Was it that way when you were living down there? Let's shift gears a bit. You were a pastor for a time, correct? Tell us a bit about yourself and your ministry in those days… How can someone obtain a copy of your book, “Speak with Confidence: Overcome Self-Doubt, Communicate Clearly and Inspire Your Audience?” Is it on Amazon? If someone wanted to get in touch with you, perhaps to ask a question or look into your coaching programs or maybe to do an interview such as this, how can they do...

How to grow NGOs with the right leadership mindset.
Prowess: Stories Of Leaders Who Have An Edge with Ashley Crouch
As members of the human race, we are all so interconnected. And it is our job to fight against injustices and bring on positive changes to make the world a better place for everyone. At a very young age, our guest Shirah Mansaray has already opened her eyes to any unequal treatment observed in her society. That motivated her to become an advocate and raise awareness for people suffering from discrimination and inequality. Now she's the CEO of her NGO called “I am Somebody's Child Soldier” and a Trustee of Amnesty International UK. Shirah is motivated to safeguard the mission, vision and charitable objectives of her organization and spearheads in supporting human rights activism. Lend your ears to this influential woman as she moves hearts in this episode. Today's key takeaways are: How did she connect with Amnesty International, and what was her journey like building that relationship? The power of communication and sharing stories. The importance of vulnerability and ensuring how we're accountable to each other and how we progress through that organization to our society. Charities are there to empower beneficiaries so that they can be the change that they want to be. What is the difference between investing, philanthropy and micro lending? About Shirah: Shirah excels in critical thinking and governance environments. As a Phd scholar, a Trustee for Amnesty International UK, and both a CEO and a NED in multiple Non-Governmental Organizations, she strives to improve policies and defend victims of injustices while delivering mental health services for them. She's a light amidst all the uncertainty and darkness. Shirah is proof that we can put back the “human” to humanity. Emma hosts Alex Sammon, staff writer at The American Prospect, to discuss his recent piece in the New Republic "IKEA's Race for the Last of Europe's Old-Growth Forest." Alex dives right into his surprisingly high-risk coverage of the rampant illegal deforestation going on in Europe's last old-growth forest in Romania, first situating his research within stories relayed to him a few years ago regarding the multiple murders of forest rangers in the region, and countless recorded assaults of folks documenting the illegal logging. Next, he and Emma jump back to 1989 and the fall of the USSR, as Romania, alongside many other countries, was opened up to neoliberalism and expansive privatization, with the Harvard University endowment jumping on the opportunity and (illegally) buying up a majority of land in the post-communist country, before selling it off to Ikea to dump the legal battles. They then accelerate to Romania's acceptance to the EU in the oughts, which provided a perfect example of the contradictions of the union when it came to deforestation, as the increased neoliberalization and bolstering of the privatized regimes ramped up the logging, while the developing environmental “pledges” centered the forest as a key ecosystem. This finally brings us to the last decade and a half, as Alex takes on the facade of regulation offered by environmental Non-Governmental Organizations in the region, and walks through the myriad steps of the supply chain, all of which helps Ikea to obscure the illicit activities along each step of the way. Of course, this is further supported by a complete lack of regulatory capacities in the forest itself – resulting in a majority of wood from the region being produced by illegal logging – and the countless stories of violence, from full murder to attempted assault, which all make cracking down on the deforestation incredibly difficult. They wrap up the interview by looking at the future of the furniture industry, as production is expected to ramp up, and Ikea completely vacating the Russian market putting even more pressure on Romania's forest. Emma also covers the incredibly devastating developments in Texas as the state begins investigating parents for providing gender-affirming care for their trans children, diving into the stories of actual trans children and their families, and the fear and anxiety that has suddenly been forced on them, before they touch on updates in Ukraine, as deaths continue to mount, and briefly explores stories of anti-war protestors in Russia and the inhumanity involved in blanket blaming citizens for the horrors of their government. And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by Matt and Brandon as they take on the incredibly unsurprising attack on Biden and the defund movement by the right, just days after Biden himself tried to do the same thing. Phil from the Chicago suburbs calls in to chat about the mineral industry and the domestic Russian politics that might be slowing down their invasion, Ron DeSantis yells at high schoolers for their PC theater, Alex from NYC talks school choice, and Brandon one-ups Ben Shapiro on pointless political analogies. Brian in Germany inquires on potential ends to the conflict in Ukraine, Kowalski gives his agriculture update, supply chain and all, and Zack from East TN grapples with aligning national progressive movements with those that already have roots in his region, plus, your calls and IMs!

The Labor Link - Tola Moeun, Executive Director of the Center for Alliance of Labor and Human Rights in Cambodia “Talking about the human rights situation in Cambodia, we believe that the democratic shrinking space is the main root cause that is undermining labor rights and human rights.” Tola Moeun About Tola Moeun is a human rights defender and the Executive Director of the Center for Alliance of Labor and Human Rights (CENTRAL), an NGO which supports Cambodian labourers by providing them with legal aid, and other appropriate means, to demand transparent and accountable governance on labour and human rights issues. In this episode Katie talks with ORSC faculty leader and CRR Canada partner, Kerry Woodcock about the magic of Metaskills. The concept of metaskills was first introduced by Amy Mindell and has since been enhanced and leveraged in key tools in the ORSC approach. A metaSkill is the attitude, stance, philosophy, or “come from” place that both the leader and team members stand in when doing this work. The intentional use of MetaSkills provides an invaluable skillset that can improve overall performance and connectivity. MetaSkills are like rooms that can be stepped into, which then ‘perfume' the work. Kerry Woodcock leads change for a world of change, by both holding and challenging leaders, organizations and social systems to amplify the power of relationship—for it is powerful relationship that creates meaningful change. Kerry is an International Coach Federation Professional Certified Coach, certified in Co-active Coaching and Organizational and Relationship Systems Coaching, with a doctorate in Geography and Environmental Management. Kerry's training and research in human and social development is combined with over twenty-five years of practical experience in partnering with leaders and their organizations on their growth and development journeys. She has worked in a range of organizational contexts, from Non-Governmental Organizations to corporations and government in a variety of industries, from Forestry to Energy, and Engineering and Finance to Media and Communications and Libraries, and across cultures, from UK and Spain to Tanzania and Ethiopia and Canada and USA. British-born, she is based in Canada with the world as her playground. She is the Director of Novalda and CRR Canada. For over 18 years, CRR Global has accompanied leaders, teams, and practitioners on their journey to build stronger relationships by focusing on the relationship itself, not only the individuals occupying it. This leads to a community of changemakers around the world. Supported by a global network of Faculty and Partners, we connect, inspire, and equip change agents to shift systems, one relationship at a time We believe Relationship Matters, from humanity to nature, to the larger whole.
Worlding Postcolonial Sexualities: Publics, Counterpublics, Human Rights (Routledge, 2021) demonstrates how late twentieth century postcolonial print cultures initiated a public discourse on sexual activism and contends that postcolonial feminist and queer archives offer alternative histories of sexual precarity, vulnerability, and resistance. The book's comparative focus on India, Jamaica, and South Africa extends the valences of postcolonial feminist and queer studies towards a historical examination of South-South interactions in the theory and praxis of sexual rights. Analyzing the circumstances of production and the contents of English-language and intermittently bilingual magazines and newsletters published between the late 1970s and the late 1990s, these sources offer a way to examine the convergences and divergences between postcolonial feminist, gay, and lesbian activism. It charts a set of concerns common to feminist, gay, and lesbian activist literature: retrogressive colonial-era legislation impacting the status of women and sexual minorities; a marked increase in sexual violence; piecemeal reproductive freedoms and sexual choice under neoliberalism; the emergence and management of the HIV/AIDS crisis; precariousness of lesbian and transgender concerns within feminist and LGBTQ+ movements; and Non-Governmental Organizations as major actors articulating sexual rights as human rights. This methodologically innovative work is based on archival historical research, analyses of national and international policy documents, close readings of activist publications, and conversations with activists and founding editors. This is an important intervention in the field of gender and sexuality studies and is the winner of the 2020 Feminist Futures, Subversive Histories prize in partnership with the NWSA. The book is key reading for scholars and students in gender, sexuality, comparative literature, and postcolonial studies.

Within its 10,452 m^2 area, Lebanon is home to 16,000 Non-Governmental Organizations, many established after the August 4th blast. Many have been in public spotlight after vibrant initiatives to call for the amendement of unfair legislations and support of marginalized communities. However, how healthy is this dependence on the Civil Society? Is Lebanon becoming a republic of NGOs, a self-reliant group of citizens trying to compensate for the now-normalized government's negligence? If you want to help, where should you begin with? While some are funded by rich political figures and others are just empty offices with sketchy financial statements, some organizations stand out. Founded in 1979, Amel Association has set an example to lead by. It has opened 24 medical centers and offered accessible medical and psychosocial services. Amel is well-recognized internationally and was the first Lebanese organization to be nominated for Nobel Peace Prize in 2016. Join us in a conversation with Dr. Zeina Mohanna, lecturer at the American University of Beirut and member of the Board of Directors at Amel. "State within a state" is out now on all streaming platforms.
What we just witnessed, in the recent Presidential Election, was a clash of two world views. On the one hand we had those corporations and Non Governmental Organizations, that represent the technocracy. As investors we follow the corporate side of the Technocracy daily, as these are the companies that have ascended to the top of the stock market. Companies like Apple, Microsoft, Facebook and Amazons. These are companies driven by recent advances in technology, have used that technology to produce a world-wide business. Like Apple, their perspective is global not national, with production facilities spread around the world, and unlimited virtual markets in almost every country.
Hi all and welcome back to another episode of Is This On? podcast. In today's episode, I will be talking to Aditya Nataraja. He currently serves as the Senior Manager for Programmes with Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI). He works with his team which provides grants to NGO or Non-Governmental Organizations in India. Before that he was a Member of Board and Manager at an Incubation Center at IIT Patna. This Incubation Center is a collaboration between the Central Government and Bihar state government. And before that, he was quite active in the Venture Capital space as an Investment Principal. He led a team of investment professionals in making early growth, to growth stage investments. Adi's pivot from being a VC to serving a large organization which is focused on doing good to the humanity, is a very interesting and inspiring one. My conversation with Adi was quite long and hence have decided to breakdown the conversation into smaller episodes. Here is the first part for your consumption. If you like to know more about APPI and its work, check out their homepage: https://www.azimpremjiphilanthropicinitiatives.org/. The United Nations was created and setup by the Illuminati Brotherhood to usher in the New World Order through the bastardization of the phrase 'E Pluribus Unum', 'Out of Many ONE'. This was accomplished so that ALL nations would be controlled by the Shadow U.N. Non-Governmental Organizations, using their authority to control the population and the BORDERS of each country, thus PLAYING NATIONS against each other in the global game of INTERNATIONAL CHESS. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUPPORT THIS SHOW:

How do you help get a new podcast off the ground? In this new episode of our on-going Learning 4 Good season, we’re working to find out. That’s because we’ve been working with Ugandan-based social investment innovator, entrepreneur, governance, public health and strategic leadership expert Joyce Tamale to do just that! Tune into my conversation with Joyce, a Humanitarian Sector practitioner with over 20 years experience in managing and transforming organisations. Along the way, we hear all about her own personal growth journey across both the public and private sectors and her training in finance, marketing and other business disciplines, which have teed her up perfectly for her latest role: Co-Founder & CEO of Capital Solutions, which is all about inspiring, transforming and building her fellow African-based social entrepreneurs. This is definitely relevant for our on-going mission in the season - to see what corporate L&D can learn from the innovative Non-Governmental Organizations, Private Social Enterprises, and Community Organizations using Learning and ed tech to build trust and capacity for social good. Look to hear, then, about an impressive multidisciplinary set of competences laid in Uganda, Scotland and the US, as well as: the story and mission of Capital Solutions and what she’s trying to achieve with it (as well as the business model that makes that happen); what social entrepreneurship and investment actually means today; an example of how her team’s helped a young business happen: Ugabus; her drive to build capacity and scale up social enterprises in East Africa; her dilemma: that young people are flocking to cities for opportunities that might be easier to grab where they already are; how (spottily distributed) tech’s proving a great way for the Ugandan microbusiness to get the airplay they couldn’t have afforded before; her focus on women’s experience and work to support getting women into leadership positions - and why helping one woman has such a magnifying effect; and much more.
In our on-going Learning 4 Good season, we’re working to find out what corporate L&D can learn from the innovative Non-Governmental Organizations, Private Social Enterprises, and Community Organizations using Learning and ed tech to build trust and capacity for social good. This week, dial in for our 50 minutes of great interaction with an online learning platform that partners with NGOs, leading agencies, and experts in humanitarian aid and development to make the best online learning available to anywhere, anytime, for free (and which is supported by the Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation). That is, of course, DisasterReady.org, and we were so happy to get the chance to talk to its Director, Tina Bolding, former Accenture partner-cum-humanitarian sector and Tulsa, OH leader. In our conversation, we ask about her connections with the Mid-West, as well as: a snapshot of the 160,000 humanitarian sector Learners who access her organization’s material round the world, as well as how it connects with the wider Cornerstone OnDemand mission and the distinctive services it offers; its roots in the Pakistan 2010 Flood crisis and how quickly a new learning portal was spun up to help Save The Children; its commitment to multilingualism and how that affects its content creation strategies (hint: collaboration!); the most popular topics sought on the platform; the complexities of serving a complex humanitarian ‘market’ - which also hasn’t quit caught up with online learning, in many ways; next up on the agenda: boosting accessibility for users with poor Internet access; her views on how to make Partnerships really work; and much more.
In our latest episode in our on-going 'Learning 4 Good' season, where we are finding our what corporate L&D can learn from how Non-Governmental Organizations, Private Social Enterprises, and Community Organizations, who are all using Learning and ed tech to build trust and capacity for social good. We’re hearing from the people on the ground who are experimenting to help build skills and capacity in under-served populations and using learning technology and design to build relevant skills for social enterprise and humanitarian leadership, and we’ve got a perfect guest to help us do just that this week: Sheila Jagannathan, Lead Learning Specialist over at The World Bank over at Washington, DC (not an NGO, of course, but still part of the infrastructure fighting global poverty through capacity development, not building, as we’ll soon see). Sheila is also Program Manager of the Bank’s Open Learning Campus, which is part of its Development Economics Knowledge Management practice, which we hear all about in our near-hour together, as well as: her personal journey, which saw her being explored to the ideas of AI pioneer Seymour Pappert back at MIT in the early 1980s which led to her transferring her interests into ed tech and the forerunner of adaptive learning - Intelligent Tutoring; the wide span of her current responsibilities, from monitoring skills development to preparing for the Fourth Industrial Revolution; how her portfolio fits into the overall mission of the Bank, and the extensive profile of the people she needs to help; why she prefers capacity development to capacity ‘building’ - and why she thinks the latter is no longer a useful concept; why Learning also involves UnLearning, letting go of no longer useful ‘knowledge;' her conviction that investing in early childhood education could be critical for our common future; the importance of Learning Analytics to what The Bank's trying to do; and much more.

Roy speaks with Scott Thomas, whose son Humboldt Broncos player Evan Thomas was killed in the crash. Mr. Thomas met privately with truck driver Jaskarit Singh Sidhu last week. He shares how he felt after that experience, and what the sentencing hearing has been like for him. Western Canada does not feel it is being treated fairly. Angus Reid conducted a national poll which we spoke about with Shachi Kurl, exec director of Angus Reid last weekend. And this past Wednesday, David Akin wrote an in-depth piece on the poll for Global News: Canadians in the West More Than Those in the East Feel That Ottawa Doesn't Treat Them Fairly. Today we get a western premier's take on this: Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan, joins the conversation with Roy Green. Vivian Krause is a researcher who revealed the money trail from U.S. entities to Canadian environmentalist Non-Governmental Organizations, to keep Alberta oil from international markets and maintaining the U.S. monopoly on Canadian oil. Now, there are reports that NGO's plan to lobby Senators to nix a cross-country tour to hear Canadians views on federal environmental legislation. So who is funding these NGO's? Vivian Krause weighs in. Reports from the U.K. media say British security services are resurrecting Cold War plans to evacuate the Queen and Royal Family from London should there be a 'hard Brexit' followed by rioting in London. British military reservists have also been placed on standby alert. Professor Alan Sked is the founder of UKIP and has been dubbed “the man, without whom, there would be no Brexit.” He offers his opinions on what has become of the movement, and on these reported preparations. And then Roy is joined by Swiss member of parliament Luzi Stamm to discuss the importance and value of referenda and what is happening in the U.K. In Switzerland several referenda are conducted annually, the results of which are constitutionally binding on the Swiss federal government. Whereas various factions in the U.K. are trying to upend the Brexit referendum decision, even though the British people voted by majority to exit the European Union. Guests: Scott Thomas, father of Evan Thomas Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan Vivian Krause, researcher Professor Alan Sked, London School of Economics Professor Emeritus Luzi Stamm, Swiss member of parliament with the Swiss People's Party. In this episode, Editor-in-Chief, Jared Grubow spoke with Ms. Jacqueline Van De Velde about her article, Foreign Agent Problems. They dig into how the domestic laws of foreign states, such as China and Russia, make it impossible for Non-Governmental Organizations to carry out their activities, which are essential to civil society abroad.
Non-Governmental Organizations, commonly referred to as NGOs, often operate globally, which involves a significant level of complexity. This complexity carries into treasury and dealing with remote banks, unique KYC requirements, and a wide-range of financial requirements. Strategic Treasurer's Craig Jeffery interviews Stephen Zaubi of CARE International. Together they explore several challenges that NGO treasury groups address.
