Entretanto, no Salmo 18, Deus é o objeto desse verbo e ele aparece no modo Qal.

Introduction Moses, having delivered the song to the nation (Deut 32:1-43), now directs and encourages his audience to receive the message for themselves. If the people of Israel would accept the message, follow it, and teach it to their children, they would know blessing in the land of Canaan, to which they were about to enter and possess (Deut 32:44-47). God had placed before them everything they needed for a life of success and prosperity, both for them and their children, but they had to commit themselves to the Lord and follow His directives set forth in the Torah (Deut 11:26-28; 30:15-20). The last few verses of this chapter close out with God directing Moses to go up to Mount Nebo, where he will see the land of Canaan from a distance, and then die (Deut 32:48-52). Text In the opening of this pericope, Moses reiterates what he'd said at the beginning of the song (Deut 31:30), saying, “Then Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people, he, with Joshua the son of Nun” (Deut 32:44). “When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, ‘Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command your sons to observe carefully, even all the words of this law'” (Deut 32:45-46). Moses, after speaking God's Word to all Israel, directs them to accept the revelation for themselves, saying, “Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today” (Deut 32:46a). The word take translates the Hebrew verb שׂוּם sum, which means to “put, set, place…deposit.”[1] The form of the verb is a Qal imperative, which means it's a command to be obeyed, as the believer intentionally deposits God's Word to their own heart (לֵבָב lebab). For the believer with positive volition, it means he/she is mentally focusing on something of importance and paying careful attention to it. And what Moses was telling his audience to pay careful attention to? Specifically, it's “all the words” he was communicating to them, adding the oft repeated reference to “all the words of this law” (Deut 32:46b; cf., Deut 17:19; 27:3, 8, 26; 28:58; 29:29; 31:12, 24). And after telling his audience that they are personally responsible to place God's Word into their own hearts, he gives them an added responsibility, saying, “you shall command your sons to observe carefully, even all the words of this law” (Deut 32:46b). According to Eugene Merrill, “Not only were his hearers to pledge themselves to its stipulations, but they were to command their descendants to do the same. Over and over again the people of Israel were reminded that the faith and commitment of any one generation were not sufficient for all the generations to come. Each must have its own time of covenant renewal (cf. Deut 4:9–10; 5:29; 6:2, 7; 11:19, 21; 12:25, 28; 30:19).”[2]Though the parents were directed to command their children to learn and observe God's directives, it was up to the children themselves to exercise their own volitions and accept God's Word and walk in it. The command from the parents to the children was the highest display of love for them, for to give them the Word of God was to give them the source of life and blessing, for “man does not live by bread alone, but lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord” (Deut 8:3). Moses drives the point further, saying, “For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life. And by this word you will prolong your days in the land, which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess” (Deut 32:47; cf. Deut 4:40). Here we see repeated words that Moses has been stressing throughout the book (cf., Deut 6:24-25; 11:26-28; 30:15-20). As stated previously, the faith of one generation does not guarantee the faith of the next. Still, Moses was concerned about his generation, and instructed them to teach their children—which was a display of love for them—that they might continue in obedience to the Lord and know His blessings as well (See Deut 4:9-10; 5:29; 6:2, 7; 11:19, 21; 12:25, 28; 30:19). Concerning this passage, Peter Craigie states, “The law did not bind men in a straitjacket of legalism, but pointed toward that life which God purposed for them. In the law lay the secret of Israel's longevity and prosperity in the promised land which they were soon to possess.”[3] Prediction of Moses' Death In this closing section, the Lord spoke directly to Moses and directed him to ascend to Mount Nebo, where he would see the land of Canaan from a distance and then die. This discourse from God reiterates what Moses had said before about the Lord's punishment on him (see Deut 3:23-28; 31:2, 14). There are four commands given here to Moses: 1) go up to Mount Nebo (Deut 32:49a), 2) look at the land of Canaan (Deut 32:49b), 3) die on the mountain (Deut 32:50a), and 4) be gathered to your people (Deut 32:50b). The pericope opens, telling us, “The LORD spoke to Moses that very same day, saying, 49 ‘Go up to this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession'” (Deut 32:48-49; cf., Num 27:12-14). The Abarim was a mountain range located in Moab, east of Canaan. According to Eugene Merrill, “The ‘Abarim Range' refers to the high plateau area east of the Jordan River and Dead Sea, the highest peak of which was Pisgah, a part of Mount Nebo (cf., Deut 34:1). This peak, with an elevation of over 2,600 feet, is about twenty miles from Jericho as the crow flies and affords an unobstructed view of nearly all the promised land (cf. Deut 34:1–3).”[4] For Moses, being able to see the land of Canaan allowed him to know his mission of leading the people there had been accomplished. It was now up to Joshua to lead the Israelites into Canaan, which God was “giving to the sons of Israel for a possession” (Deut 32:49). God then told Moses, “Then die on the mountain where you ascend, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people” (Deut 32:50). And God reminded Moses of the reason he could not enter the land of Canaan, saying, “because you broke faith with Me in the midst of the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, because you did not treat Me as holy in the midst of the sons of Israel” (Deut 32:51). God reminded Moses that he had disqualified himself from entering the land of Canaan because he: 1) “broke faith” with God, and 2) did not treat the Lord as “holy in the midst of the sons of Israel.” Concerning this passage, Daniel Block states: "In striking the rock Moses had misrepresented Yahweh publicly, violated his own representative role, and failed to respect Yahweh's unique and sacred status. To Yahweh, striking the rock reflected a cavalier disposition toward him, as though Moses could adapt Yahweh's commands as he wanted. Moreover, in relating directly to the rock rather than the Rock, he had committed an idolatrous act. Yahweh's present indictment highlights the communal implications of Moses' actions; he had publicly failed to uphold Yahweh's holiness. As leader of the people and representative of Yahweh, he had struck the rock when Yahweh had commanded him to speak to it. While his act may have been a gesture of frustration, to God it involved publicly usurping what is otherwise a divine agenda. Remarkably, it worked—water issued from the rock. Moses may have looked like a magician—but it cost him his life and his mission."[5] The Lord tells Moses, “For you shall see the land at a distance, but you shall not go there, into the land which I am giving the sons of Israel” (Deut 32:52). These final words to Moses show that all who were under the covenant, even Moses, was not exempt from divine punishment if he broke faith with God and was disobedient. By his disobedience, Moses did not forfeit his salvation, but his reward of entering the promised land. However, we also see here a display of God's grace, as He allowed Moses to see the land from a distance, just east of the Jordan River. Though Moses' failure to honor God had cost him his right to enter the land of Canaan, overall, Moses is remembered for his faithfulness to the Lord, as the writer of Hebrews tells is, “Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant” to the Lord (Heb 3:5). The Lord called Moses His “friend” (Ex 33:11), and described him as His servant, who “is faithful in all My household” (Num 12:7). To be a friend of God means one follows His directives. Jesus said something similar to His disciples, saying, “You are My friends if you do what I command you” (John 15:14). By the end of his life, Moses would die at the ripe age of one hundred and twenty years with vigor of life (Deut 34:7), and would tower above the prophets of Scripture who would follow after him (Deut 34:10-12). Though Moses was about to leave the company of Israel and go to the mountain, and there leave this world, he was leaving behind a powerful legacy that would serve as the foundation for all Israel's success and prosperity in the years ahead, if they would accept it. Just before going up to the top of Mount Nebo, Moses would pronounce blessings on the nation (Deut 33), and then he would ascend the mountain—to die (Deut 34). Summary In Deuteronomy 32:44-47, Moses directs his people to take all the words of God's law to heart, for they are not meaningless words, but are the very source of life and blessing, both for them and their children, if they will follow the Lord and walk in righteousness. In Deuteronomy 32:48-52, the Lord calls Moses to ascend Mount Nebo to look upon the land of promise, informing him that he will not enter the land, because of an event in which he broke faith with God and did not treat Him as holy, informing Moses that he will die on the mountain and be gathered to his people. Present Application God gives us His Word to light our paths (Psa 119:105; Prov 6:23), to revive our hearts (Psa 119:25, 107), and to direct us in the path of righteousness (2 Tim 3:16). Being plugged into God's Word is paramount to the believer's successful walk. Moses knew this, and he stressed it over and over to his audience. He told them, “Take to heart all these words I am giving as a warning to you today, so that you may command your children to carefully follow all the words of this law. For they are not meaningless words to you but they are your life, and by them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess” (Deut 32:46-47 CSB; cf. Deut 4:40). The Scriptural teaching is “that man does not live by bread alone, but lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD” (Deut 8:3). But only those with positive volition will accept God's Word, live by faith, and walk in righteousness. Of the one with positive volition it is said, “his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night” (Psa 1:2). The benefit of such a lifelong meditation is that “He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers” (Psa 1:3). Elsewhere, David said, “I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart” (Psa 40:8). And Jeremiah said, “Your words were found and I ate them, and Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts” (Jer 15:16). To eat God's Word is a picture of positive volition, as Jeremiah welcomed the divine revelation into himself, and once received, it delighted his heart. When the human heart is receptive to God's Word, it transforms that person from the inside out, and this is both cognitive and experiential. God says, “Is not My word like fire? declares the LORD, and like a hammer which shatters a rock?” (Jer 23:29). His Word is powerful and accomplishes what He desires (Isa 55:10-11; Heb 4:12), and it lights a fire in the heart of those who are positive. For example, after His resurrection, Jesus walked for several miles with two disciples and gave them a Bible lesson which lasted for several hours (Luke 24:14-35). This Bible lesson occurred as they traveled “to a village named Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem” (Luke 24:13). Luke reveals how Jesus taught them, “beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures” (Luke 24:27). After His Bible lesson, the two disciples said, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32). The heart that is positive to God receives His Word and is excited by what is learned. But hearts that are negative suppress God's truth (Rom 1:18-32), and this to their own harm. Learning Scripture must be followed by faith, as we become “doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude” ourselves” (Jam 1:22). This means learning and living His Word day by day (Psa 1:2; Ezra 7:10; 2 Tim 2:15; 3:16-17; 1 Pet 2:2), walking by faith (Heb 10:38; 11:1-6), advancing to spiritual maturity (Heb 6:1), and living the righteous life He intends. Such a life glorifies God, edifies others, and creates in us a personal sense of destiny tied to the God of universe, Who is directing history to the return of Jesus and the establishment of His earthly kingdom. But the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him in the ark, because the waters were still covering the surface of all the earth. So he reached out his hand and brought her back inside the ark. And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark. And behold, the dove returned to him in the evening with a freshly plucked olive leaf in her beak. So Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth. The omission of the suffix with “name” could be explained as virtual haplography (note the letter ב (bet), which is similar to כ (kaf), at the beginning of the next word). The same explanation could account for the omission of the prefixed י (yod) on the verb “call,” as י (yod) and ו (vav) are similar in appearance. (Job 1:1b) Not only the entire book of Job but the whole of the gospel fact, everything is summed up by this one word "blame-less” - For the central question of religion is, "How can human beings get free of guilt?" How can we escape that sense, however vague, of gnawing insecurity that dogs our every step? Jesus asked His disciples, "Why are you so afraid?" (Matt. 8:26). We are afraid because of our lingering suspicion that it is impossible to please God. Oh, we know that God loves us (maybe)-but how can we be sure He likes us? In the Parable of the Prodigal Son, the father loved both the rebellious son and his straightlaced elder brother, but in the end only the younger son pleased him. Only the prodigal delighted his father's heart. Of course God loves us. Everybody knows that. But that is precisely the problem we have in relating to God: He loves everybody, indiscriminately, even the people He is going to send to Hell. Who needs love like that? The real question is not whether God loves us, but whether He approves of us, whether we are pleasing to Him. One thing is certain: if we are not pleasing to God, He will never be pleas- ing to us. Why should we like someone who is forever condemning us? On the other hand, can we imagine what it would be like to so move and excite the heart of God that He would run to meet us, throw His arms around us and kiss us, dress us in His best robe, and put rings on our fingers? Can we picture the Lord Almighty killing the fattened calf for us and throwing a big party in our honor? Can we imagine having the Creator of the universe say to us, just as He said to Jesus Christ, "You are My beloved son, and I like you" (Mark 1:11)? In short, do we know what it would mean to be, as Jesus was and as Scripture claims Job also was, beyond reproach in the eyes of God? Can we even imagine such a thing? For if we cannot, then surely all Our faith is useless, If we cannot get past God's criticism and into His favor-indeed, if we cannot be good friends with Him-then what is the point of all our religion? On the other hand, if Job really was a living example of blamelessness in his relationship with God, then such a thing must at least be possible, and we had better pay attention to this man and find out what his secret was. This episode was a late bloomer. Due to "reasons" (mostly cuz we couldn't get our act together) we had to delay this episode release by a day. We discuss Stok cold brew coffee, the new season of Alone (TV show on History Channel), the Luna pants pattern by Made by Rae, Reversible Hobo Bag pattern sew along by Mrs. H, the Ruby Star Society Summer Quilt Along (Perfect Picnic Quilt) and a great bundle for this QAL by Hummingbird Lane Fabrics, the Sorento Bucket Hat pattern by Elbe Textiles, and Folkwear sewing patterns Also, apparently there is a half-snail-half-leaf creature that Natalie tries to explain to me and all I want to know is does it have a slime trail or feet. Added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2013, the Al Zubarah Archaeological Site is Qatar's first entry in this international register. Once a thriving pearl fishing and trading port in the 1760s, the Al Zubarah site showcases impressive, excavated findings. These include a city wall, ancient residential palaces and structures typical of an urban centre – including markets, living and industrial areas. Stretching from Fort Zubarah lining the coast to the early inland settlement of Qal'at Murair, the site provides a reimagination of a Gulf merchant town in the 18th and 19th centuries. Middle East Institute, NUS, in collaboration with the Qatar Embassy in Singapore, will welcome Dr Ferhan from Qatar Museums to take our audience on a virtual tour of Al Zubarah. Beyond nostalgia, the speaker will also share his knowledge about contemporary uses of the Zubarah Fort, for instance. This public talk was conducted online via Zoom on Friday, 21 January 2022, from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm (SGT).

Friday February 26, 2021 Question 1 (02:00): Dear Imam Abdul Aziz. I very much enjoyed your explanation regarding 'Ummi' and the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace). I've always been confused regarding the permissibility of Muslim men being able to marry Christian women in the Qu'ran it is clear that Christians are described as those assigning divinity to Isa (peace be upon him) (Jesus) and thus an act of kuffar; they are harshly admonished for this deviation from their faith. So how can such a revered act: marriage (according to the Hadith: half the faith) be allowed with someone who we in essence believe have committed the only unforgivable sin; and if permissible: is not all kuffar (at least when it comes to Tauheed) kuffar, whether it be 2 gods or 3 or three thousand? Why not then can Muslim men be allowed to marry Hindu women as this same permissibility can be applied perhaps to Muslims permissibility of eating meat from Christians? If they say Gods name during the sacrifice how do we know they in their heads are not thinking of Isa (peace be upon him)? I guess ultimately my question boils down to Christians are committing an egregious Kuffar by assigning divinity to Isa (peace be upon him) (Jesus) - Trinity - but yet seem to be dealt with in a different manner by Allah in the Qu'ran than say for example idol worshippers or other polytheists? Jazak-Allah in advance. Side Question: Can we eat meat that is not zabiha? Question 2 (28:50): Is Prophet Esa going to come back as Imam Mehdi? Is it true that the Quran says Prophet Esa was raised to the Heavens alive? Question 3 (36:00): Praying behind the Imam, in the silent salah, eg dhuhr, do you recite surah Al-Fatiha and another surah yourself or you just stay silent. Question 4 (40:52): I have a question about reading books that contain disbelief in them. For example a Greek mythology book, or even certain plays by Shakespeare contain lines of kufr in them. If I have to read these books for a class or even If I read them personal reading, should I make a quoting statement before beginning the book. For example, "the author said", or is this unnecessary as it is understood I am reading someone else's works? I noticed in Arabic when teaching books, like the Sanusiyya, people say Qal al Muallif before beginning. Question 5 (44:00): Respected imam! Do you recommend any Fiqh books written (translated) in English for the Hanafi Madhab? I would also like to know if there are other such books for the rest of the Madhabs. Question 6 (47:03): If we believe in all the heavenly books, and everything from Allah is perfect, why does He say in the Quran that "this day I have perfected your religion for you"? Question 7 (54:35): As regards to Hijama, in your previous session, you mentioned not getting it done in winter rather doing fust (vivisection) especially if one lives in Northern climates/regions. Can you please elaborate what is fust (vivisection) in little detail? Also, during summer time can one get Hijama from a trained professional? If yes, you had mentioned only to have it done on shoulder blades and not at other places on the body, which makes me question why not other parts when we are getting it done in summer from someone who is professionally trained? Question 8 (58:57): Thank you for giving the opportunity of asking questions. This is very important to me. I am an engaged young man whose fiancé lives abroad. I live in the United States. For now, we are in a long distance relationship. I know my fiancé for more than 5 years now. Lately, we are getting into a lot of arguments which are ending with a lot of fights. As a result, we are getting mad at each other and not talking to each other. I really do love her and she is very nice, kind, and serious girl. I know that being far away is the main thing that is causing us to fight. But I started to have a feeling that she is being unfaithful. So my question is actually two separate questions. Please try to answer both of them since it is very important for me. I will try to do the right thing based on your answers to my questions: 1) What should I do if I found out that she is cheating on me? Should I forgive her and continue with our plans to get married or should I break the engagement and leave her alone? 2) Sometimes I blame myself and I tell myself that I am just being too jealous. What if its just my jealousy and she is not really cheating on me? In other words, what if I am wrong and she never cheated on me? How can I reduce the level of my jealousy? Please try to answer both parts. It is really important for me. Thank you so much! Question 9 (1:06:35): In one of the recent ‘Navigating the Eschaton’ classes, you mentioned the Hadith (reference: Sunan Abi Dawud 4242) about ‘fitna as-sarra’ arising from a man claiming to be from the progeny of the Prophet ﷺ. Have scholars been able to identify and agree upon any individuals from history as to who this could have been and why?

This episode is called “Odds and Ends” because I go a little deeper on two topics. First, I discuss the divine name more thoroughly and examine the possibility of its being based on a causative verb (hiphil in Hebrew) rather than the regular verb (Qal in Hebrew). So Yahweh would mean, “He who causes things to be” more than “He who is.” Secondly, I discuss an article by Michael V. Fox about the various stages by which wisdom literature was received into the Israelite canon. At first, the reception was thorough, but eventually limitations were added such as “The Fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom.”
Support the show
A Psalm of Fearless Trust in God.27 The Lord is my light and my salvation;Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life;Whom shall I dread?2 When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh,My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.3 Though a host encamp against me,My heart will not fear;Though war arise against me,In spite of this I shall be confident.4 One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek:That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,To behold the beauty of the LordAnd to meditate in His temple.5 For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me;He will lift me up on a rock.6 And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy;I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice,And be gracious to me and answer me.8 When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You,“Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.”9 Do not hide Your face from me,Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help;Do not abandon me nor forsake me,O God of my salvation!10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me,But the Lord will take me up.11 Teach me Your way, O Lord,And lead me in a level pathBecause of my foes.12 Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries,For false witnesses have risen against me,And such as breathe out violence.Confident (baw-takh'); a primitive root; properly, to hie (go quickly) for refuge; figuratively, to trust, be confident or sure:to trust (Qal)to trust, trust in to have confidence, be confident to be bold to be secure (Hiphil)to cause to trust, make secure to feel safe, be careless KJV - be bold (confident, secure, sure), careless (one, woman), put confidence, (make to) hope, (put, make to) trust.Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Heb 11:6 And without faith (confidence) it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Explore Jeremiah and the doctrine of the Word of God. Consider four questions. In what ways is the 'word of God' seen to be the protagonist in the book of Jeremiah and has the tradition seen this? Explore what Jerome states in his Commentary on Jeremiah. In Jeremiah, do you see the prophet's role as the embodied word of God (narrative and literary figure) as taking on and prefiguring the incarnate Word of God, Jesus Christ and warranting the book of Jeremiah's inclusion as Christian Scripture? In the people's hardening and refusal of the words of God, did the word of God actually succeed? How might fulfillment interact with a Jeremianic 'Doctrine of the Word of God?' What is a Doctrine of the Word of God? John Frame states, "I therefore define the word of God as (1) God himself, understood as communicator, and (2) the sum total of his free communications with his creatures." Consider the point of contact between the Doctrine of the Word of God and the notion of fulfillment in Jeremiah as "the filling of words”. The Hebrew word used, מָלָא (Qal), means “to fill” and is transitive or “to be full” as intransitive. Explore fixed theological expressions as "to fulfill the days" or time as in Numbers 6:5 and a vow. Also in 2 Chronicles 5:13ff we find "filled with the glory of the Lord" or God's presence. We read in Jeremiah 23:24, “Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.” Another expression is "full behind the Lord" or to follow with one's whole heart as Caleb did in Joshua 14:8. “But my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; yet I wholly followed the Lord my God.” The expression is used to "fulfill the words" [Pi'el] or the occurrence of an utterance in prophecy, vow, or witness. Martin Noth notes that nothing new occurs in this expression - rather the word is "implement[ed] fully".
The Sabbath is to remind us of the principle of grace and rest. Part 3. Thursday, April 10, 2008 Point 4. The Origin of the Sabbath Rest, GEN 2:2-3. To rest - Qal imperfect - shabath = to rest, to relax, to have tranquility, and to be confident in your relationship to God. COL 1:13 For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, Filled - pleroo = a. To fill up a deficiency. At salvation we are deficient of doctrine. b. To fully possess. The believer must be fully possessed by the Holy Spirit and Bible doctrine before he can be fully possessed by the blessings of maturity. c. To fully influence. The believer is fully influenced by Bible doctrine so that he can have capacity for blessing. d. To fill with a certain quality. Doctrine is the highest quality with which the believer can be filled. This is having comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things. There is a tremendous difference between having gnosis (knowledge) and epignosis knowledge (wisdom). 1. The will of God for mankind is two-fold. For the unbeliever: Salvation. For the believer: Epignosis or metabolized doctrine, 1TI 2:3-4 summarizes this will of God in one sentence. 1TI 2:3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the epignosis knowledge of the truth. 2. The cosmic believer fails to metabolize doctrine, 2TI 3:2-7. 2TI 3:7 always learning and never able to come to the epignosis knowledge of the truth. 3. Only metabolized doctrine can be useful for problem-solving - EPH 1:17 the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the epignosis knowledge of Him. 4. All genuine fellowship with believers is based on metabolized doctrine and virtue - PHM 1:6 {and I pray} that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the epignosis knowledge of every good thing which is in you for Christ's sake. 5. Only metabolized doctrine can fulfill the mandate of virtue-love first in the PPOG - PHI 1:9 In fact, I pray this, that your virtue-love may excel to the maximum still more and more by means of epignosis knowledge [metabolized doctrine] resulting in all spiritual discernment, 6. Only metabolized doctrine can fulfill the PPOG, COL 1:9-10. 7. Only metabolized doctrine can provide blessing under the PPOG, 2PE 1:2-3. 2PE 1:2-3, Grace and peace be multiplied to you by means of the epignosis knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the epignosis knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 8. You can have a zeal to know God, but if you do not have metabolized doctrine it is useless - ROM 10:2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. 9. True wealth and prosperity comes from epignosis doctrine - COL 2:2 that their right lobes may be confident, {attaining} to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, {resulting} in a true knowledge or epignosis knowledge of God's mystery, Christ, 10. The new man can only be renewed and energized through metabolized doctrine - COL 3:10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge or according to epignosis knowledge according to the image of the One who created Him. Since there was nothing God could add, obviously there is nothing that man can add. Point 5. We have the Sabbath Given to Israel as a Command from God, EXO 20:8-11; DEU 5:12-15; LEV 23:3;ISA 58:11-14. This very change of pace was not only beneficial to them physically and mentally, but it had ultimate benefit to them in the spiritual realm because it was a reminder of grace. Zakar = to mark so as to be recognized, to be brought to remembrance, to be remembered, to be thought of. Like all rituals this was a training aid during this pre-canon period. To “remember” means to draw upon the resources of your right lobe. ISA 32:17 And the work of righteousness will be peace, And the service of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever. The effect of righteousness will be peace which is internal and external. Internally, it is being at rest in your souls. Externally, it is having courage and confidence. ISA 60:21 “Then all your people {will be} righteous; They will possess the land forever, The branch of My planting, The work of My hands, That I may be glorified.” By maintaining good health with periodic rest, this contributed to the full, free function of the mind. This command under the laws of divine establishment was for the protection of believers and unbelievers alike. In EXO 16:11-30 the Sabbath was taught to the Jews in a special way. PRO 5:11-14 And you groan at your latter end, When your flesh and your body are consumed; And you say, “How I have hated instruction! And my heart spurned reproof!” PRO 5:13 “And I have not listened to the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear or submitted or consented to my instructors! I was almost in utter ruin In the midst of the assembly and congregation.” Manna represented divine provision for the believer in time. In verse 22 on the 6th day (Friday) they were told to gather a double portion. What God does not provide, do not try to gather. LUK 14:11 “For everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled. And he who humbles himself shall be promoted.” JAM 4:10 “Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will promote you.” 1PE 5:5-6 “God makes war against the arrogant [believer], but gives grace to the humble [believer]. Humble yourselves under the powerful hand of God that He may promote you at the proper time.” ECC 3:1 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven - You go at least from GEN 2:2 to Exo 16 which is approximately, 1441 B.C. You have anywhere from 3 to 4 thousand years in between. The Jewish Sabbath was a part of the 10 commandments and therefore the Sabbath was for both believers and unbelievers. It was the 4th commandment of the decalogue found in DEU 5:12-15; EXO 20:8-11. 1CO 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, “This is My body, which is for you; keep on doing this in remembrance of Me.” 1CO 11:25 In the same way He took the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; keep on doing do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” Verse 8 - “to keep it holy” = to set it apart. They were commanded to set aside Saturday, the 7th day in order to do something they didn't do on any other day i.e., rest in the physical realm. Freedom demands rest and meditation. The word “blessed” indicates that God pronounced it a source of blessing or intensity of happiness. Freedom and blessing go together. The phrase “made it holy” means to set apart, and the verb tense in the Hebrew indicates that this setting apart would last for a long time, in fact for the remainder of human history. “The remainder of human history” does not mean keeping Saturday as the Sabbath, but as HEB 4:9 teaches, a day-by-day rest for the people of God. There is a Yugoslavian Proverb that states: A good rest is half the work. Rest is a time of restoration. 2CH 14:7 The promise land is still ours, because we have sought the Lord our God; we have sought Him, and He has given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
