In this second part of our series on “The Spiritually Healthy Leader: Finding Freedom from Self-Sabotage,” Dave Wiedis talks about what it means to live centered in the supremacy of Christ as the pathway to freedom, what to do with our longings, and how Christ's lordship supercharges our desires. A personal recommendation from ServingLeaders Founder and Executive Director, Dave Wiedis: “I like this episode because in it we explore the supremacy of Christ as our ruling passion and why that matters. Many Christians try to kill their desires or pathologize them. A more scriptural and comprehensive approach to desires and spiritual growth is reordering our desires under the supremacy of Christ.”Buy Dave's book here:On AmazonOn New Growth Press

Most ministry leaders implode because they fail to pay attention to their internal struggles. Dave Wiedis is the author of The Spiritually Healthy Leader: Finding Freedom from Self-Sabotage and the founder of ServingLeaders Ministries. Whether it's self-sabotage by acting against our self-interest, hurting others, or damaging our relationship with God, Dave explains that many people are dominated by unidentified ruling passions, like seeking success, affirmation, respect, or avoiding pain or embarrassment. Such pursuits can supplant the Lordship of Christ by becoming functional idols. To lead well and avoid self-sabotage we must repent by honestly and humbly identifying our ruling passions and submitting to the lordship of Jesus Christ in every area of our lives. TAKEAWAYS Whatever drives you has the capacity to control you, and human passions must never take the place of Christ in our lives Submitting to the lordship of Christ requires humility and honesty You must reflect on and heal from your past experiences that gave rise to your ruling passions to become a great leader Those who are unaware of their own ruling passions pose a unique danger as leaders

You've been running on a program installed before you could even talk, and you had no say in writing it. Cell biologist and former medical school professor Bruce Lipton spent his career studying epigenetics and quantum biology, and he says your subconscious recorded almost everything about how to live before age seven. That program runs 95% of your day on autopilot, and you're the one person who can't see it while it's playing. Stress hormones don't just make you anxious. They shut down your immune system and reroute blood away from your gut, which is why kids get sick right before exams and adults get sick the moment a hard season finally ends. Quantum physics says the material world you're so sure of is an illusion, and once that clicks, the way you see your relationships, enemies included, changes completely. Bruce lays out the myths keeping humanity trapped in a cycle of self-destruction and the honeymoon shift that rewired his entire life after 40 years of running the wrong program. This is the science behind changing your story for good. Some people do not reject proven experts because they lack intelligence; they reject them because expert advice can threaten autonomy, identity, ego, and deeply held beliefs. The brain is not a neutral information processor: confirmation bias, motivated reasoning, psychological reactance, sunk-cost thinking, and social identity can all push a person to defend what they already believe rather than update in light of better evidence. This is why some patients “doctor shop,” athletes ignore coaches, business owners reject consultants, and intelligent people keep asking the same question until someone finally gives them the answer they wanted. Seeking a second opinion is often wise; repeatedly searching only for agreement is something very different. The solution is not blind obedience to experts, because experts can be wrong. The solution is disciplined intellectual humility: weigh expertise rather than merely count opinions, separate identity from beliefs, ask what evidence would change your mind, learn to tolerate the words “I was wrong,” and distinguish healthy autonomy from self-sabotage. A coachable person still questions, investigates, and thinks independently—but also updates when stronger evidence appears. Freedom means you are allowed to make your own choices; wisdom means accepting that reality does not owe your choices good consequences. The mature goal is not to become the person who is always right, but the person who can recognize error, correct course quickly, and keep moving closer to the truth.Dr. Fred Clary, founder of Functional Analysis Chiropractic Technique and lifting/life coach/ gym-chalk covered philosopher talks about being coachable!

In this episode, Lisa gets to the root of why so many people struggle to stay consistent with their health goals. Through coaching stories, she names a hard truth: the issue is often not discipline. It is peace. Lisa explains that when your peace is disrupted by work stress, relationship tension, unresolved grief, emotional wounds, or fear, it becomes much harder to maintain healthy habits. You may know what to do, but your nervous system is overwhelmed, your capacity is low, and your body is operating in survival mode. Throughout the episode, Lisa pushes back on the belief that you are undisciplined or incapable of following through. Instead, she shows how disrupted peace can lead to emotional eating, avoidance, inconsistency, and self-sabotage. She encourages listeners to identify where their peace is being compromised and become more demanding about protecting it. Lisa also reminds us that every area of life is connected. Your career, relationships, finances, emotional healing, and spiritual alignment can all affect your ability to care for your body. If you have ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated by starting over again and again, this episode offers a different way to see the pattern and begin restoring the peace needed to move forward.
In this episode of Married and Connected, host Kameran Alareqi sits down with life and leadership coach Steve Barton to dismantle one of the most pervasive myths in relationships: the idea that your partner is your "better half." They unpack why seeking completeness in someone else fosters codependency, how high achievers unconsciously wear "saboteur masks," and why true relationship harmony requires inner stability over superficial work-life balance.Steve breaks down his powerful framework, The Game of 10, contrasting it with the negative loops of fear, doubt, guilt, and shame that dominate daily life. They also dive into the rise of AI versus Natural Intelligence (NI), the difference between rigid walls and healthy boundaries, and how shifting from self-criticism to self-grace transforms both your leadership and your love life.Key Takeaways & HighlightsThe "Whole Person" Principle: Why phrases like "my better half" undermine individual wholeness and trigger codependent patterns. The "Game Often Played": Understanding the 6,541 combinations of fear, self-doubt, guilt, and shame that keep people stuck in reactive ego cycles. The High-Achiever's Mask: How the external persona (the "saboteur") bleeds into home life during times of stress, fatigue, or trigger moments.Inner Stability over Work-Life Balance: Why true balance is an internal baseline of loving who you are and setting clear boundaries (yes, no, stay, go).Natural Intelligence (NI) vs. AI: Why artificial tools can never replace human presence, intuition, discernment, and common sense. The Game of 10 Framework: Utilizing declarations of innocence ("doing the best I can with the awareness I have") and grace ("I am enough, I do enough, I have enough") to heal relationships.Connect & ResourcesGuest: Steve BartonWebsite: stevebartoncoaching.comBook: Father Son, the Aha Moment: Tools for Helping You and Your Child Develop a Path to HappinessLinkedIn: Steve Barton on LinkedInHost: Kameran Alareqi | Married and ConnectedInstagram: @married.and.connectedFree CommunityConnected To Me: The Blueprint by Kameran Thompson AlareqiSupport the show

Stop Being Nice: Jung's Shadow Self and the Confidence That Comes From Boundaries Mindset habits and authentic success rarely get discussed together—but forced emotions are costing entrepreneurs real progress. In this episode, Tracy unpacks why your anger isn't the problem, your smile is. Learn the neuroscience of emotional suppression, why performative positivity sabotages your mindset, and how building emotional authenticity becomes your most powerful self-improvement habit. Perfect for busy entrepreneurs tired of toxic productivity culture. https://YourSuccessDNA.com Tracy argues that Carl Jung's “shadow self”, the parts of you you refuse to acknowledge like anger, competitiveness, selfishness, and the capacity to hurt, drives self-sabotage when it's suppressed behind a “nice” persona. It criticizes toxic positivity and people-pleasing (fawning) for training people to bury boundary violations, creating cognitive dissonance, exhaustion, resentment, and stalled progress. The host reframes anger as “data” signaling violated boundaries and defines being “dangerous” as being willing to disappoint, say no, take up space, and be disliked without becoming cruel. Using a workplace example, it shows how acknowledging anger enables assertive action (direct conversation, documentation, matching effort, or leaving), building confidence through self-respect and psychological coherence. The episode ends with a journaling exercise to name someone you perform for and write what you've been too nice to say, promoting shadow integration and individuation. 00:00 Shadow Runs Your Life 00:59 Anger Is Data 02:08 Meet The Shadow Self 03:29 People Pleasing Trap 04:06 Be Dangerous Not Nice 05:51 Confidence Through Coherence 07:07 Workplace Boundary Example 09:29 Toxic Positivity Exposed 11:14 Integrate Your Darkness 13:26 No Middle Path 16:00 One Action Tonight 17:04 Be Whole Be Dangerous shadow self, Carl Jung, shadow work, people pleasing, toxic positivity, self confidence, setting boundaries, why nice people finish last, fawning, trauma response, Self-sabotage, how to be more assertive, success habits, habits for success, mindset success, productivity, self improvement, mindset, success mindset, mindset habits, emotional fitness Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. I have something SO amazing for you. Our mineral-heavy water started impacting my skin the moment we moved, and I had never experienced eczema or skin issues in my life. Hard water can strip natural oils, disrupt the microbiome, and weaken the skin barrier — leaving you inflamed, reactive, and stuck in flare-ups. Their formulas are made with ultra-potent, organic, whole-plant botanicals rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, and phytonutrients that calm inflammation, rebuild the skin barrier, and fight visible signs of aging instead of masking symptoms. Isn't it crazy how those shorter relationships can hit way harder than the longer ones? Today I reflect on this, and what would happen if that person ever came back. I then lean into how my views of compatibility vs. chemistry have shifted, while still battling guilt when I admit and enforce my high standards. I then get into whether I still deal with imposter syndrome, perfectionism, and procrastination. Yes, but no, and I'll share how to overcome them. Self-Sabotage: How We Try Not to Flourish (Polity Press, 2026) contends that an unconscious impulse to undermine our own interests plays a dominant role in our lives. The idea of a primary drive to self-destruction is at odds with the prevailing common sense in a world where almost everyone believes that we strive to flourish. Yet often we fail to flourish not because some people are wicked but because the drive to sabotage ourselves outweighs the pleasures of flourishing. Our tendency to self-sabotage distorts our politics, throws off our romantic relationships, and generally makes human existence difficult. It is why we become involved with partners who continually create unhappiness for us, and also why we elect leaders who derail the nation. Although the act of self-sabotage is clearly self-destructive, it appeals to us because it has a creative power. Through sacrificing ourselves, we create sublime value in the world. Our willingness to sacrifice our own interest elevates the value of the object we pursue and lifts it out of the realm of the ordinary. Self-sabotage leads to immense amounts of social harm. But at the same time, the tendency to self-destruction provides the basis for our ability to act ethically and surmount social pressure in the name of some higher value. Check out Evolve → http://evolve.geekpsychology.comI've read that same question a hundred different ways. "Am I broken? Is this permanent? Am I doomed to be stuck forever?"I used to ask it too... not about being an INFP specifically (because I didn't know about personality type), but about being someone who overthinks everything and can come up with fifty ways I might fail before I've taken a single step toward it. I thought that was self-awareness... like naming my flaws and limitations in enough detail somehow helped me.It doesn't. Knowing your flaws isn't a virtue. It's just information. What you do with that information is what's important. Here's what I've noticed in myself and in the people I coach: we treat our self-awareness like a museum. We walk through it, we point at each exhibit, "here's procrastination, here's fear of imperfection, here's the reasons I came up with for why I probably won't succeed."We know the details of each exhibit, but we look at them objectively. The biggest shift happened for me when I stopped asking "what's stopping me?" and started asking "what do I actually want and how can I get it?" It's the same question, but the focus is different. And that focus creates a massive difference in your life's direction.I still don't have it all figured out. I pray I never will. I see myself as the hero of my story. And I know that big meaningful quests keep heroes engaged. I still catch myself with negative thoughts sometimes. But now I notice it faster. I redirect faster. And I get back to living life how I want to faster.Focus on what you want.Take action to get it.You already have what you need to start.00:00 Is Your Self-Awareness Secretly Sabotaging You?01:03 The Hidden Character Running Your Blind Spots02:13 The Ogre Guarding Your Goals02:39 Why Fighting Fair Is the Wrong Strategy03:30 The Real Trap Nobody Talks About04:30 The Brain Filter That's Working Against You05:34 A Rule That Feels Wrong But Works06:43 What Actually Happens When You Skip the Perfect Plan08:27 The One Sentence That Changes Everything09:14 The Real Obstacle Once You Start Taking Action
Changing your identity starts with realizing identity and manifestation aren't two separate journeys; they're the same one. My love, the life you're living right now is not happening to you. It's happening because of you. Not because you're broken, not because you're cursed, not because you're behind, but because your reality is a mirror, reflecting back exactly what you believe about yourself right now. Most people spend their whole life trying to change what they see in the mirror, new job, new relationship, new city, new body, and wonder why nothing shifts. It's because identity equals decision, and decision equals reality. There are three stages of consciousness you're cycling through without even realizing it, and until you see which one is actually running your choices, no amount of affirmations or vision boards will move the needle.Episode Takeaways:Recognize the three stages of consciousness, the 3D, 4D, and 5D, and notice which one is quietly running your decisionsUnderstand why identity equals decision, and decision equals reality, not destinyStop mistaking affirmations, vision boards, and manifestation techniques for actual identity workTrust that the 4D awakening state isn't failure, it's the portal where your miracles are builtSee how one Manifesting Miracles Academy member manifested $16,000 by changing who she believed she was, not by getting luckyWhen you stop trying to fix the reflection and start changing what's standing in front of the mirror, everything shifts. You stop grinding, proving, and performing your way toward a life that already feels exhausting before it starts. You become the version of you who trusts herself, who receives without flinching, who knows the universe isn't something to convince but something to create with. That's not a fantasy. This is kind of a new, new one for us. He doesn't just have expertise in the e-commerce space. Instead, he has a much broader landscape in the mindset shifts and tools he's going to be able to share with us. I know are going to be able to have a tremendous impact on your business. Today, I'm excited to introduce you to Mario Lanza, a high performance coach, a TEDx speaker with over 1 million views, and a conscious leader, Mario Lanza. He travels the world helping entrepreneurs make more money in half the time through building an unstoppable mindset from CEOs to Olympians and mission driven entrepreneurs. Mario helps high achievers all across the world gain the mental clarity and focus necessary through his masterclasses on conscious leadership and next level mindsets. So with that introduction, welcome to the show, Mario.Mario 00:00:58 Josh, thank you so much for having me on the show. I'm really excited, and I think you and I were going to have a powerful conversation filled with lots of value for your listeners.Josh 00:01:07 One of those inner thoughts in my mind, when I'm having to make either a difficult decision or I have to slow down in order to like create an SOP or to hire a team member because, you know, that's that's the next step. That's what needs to happen. My frustration is I think that those should what are the things I know I should be doing? And it's more along the lines of, I should have a $100 million business. I look at all the other successful e-commerce businesses. I feel like I'm just as capable as they are, but I'm doing something wrong. I'm spending too much time on these little tasks and I'm making this a little decision, like, why am I not at that $100 million already? And what what would you say to that? Like, I feel like that's what's kind of like deep down. Like I have this vision of I love my potential, but I'm not there yet, right? And so I beat myself up.Mario 00:02:07 Yeah. This is a classical one.Mario 00:02:09 And again, I want to honor you for stepping one step further out. And I think a lot of your listeners will be will resonate with that because they look at where they are and then they tell themselves, I'm not where I'm supposed to be. There's so much inside of me that can be brought up. And, you know, it's true. There is so much more inside of you that can be brought out. But the reason it's not already out is because actually, you do not want the 100 million. Because if you have the 100 million, you know that there's something that's going to increase. Often in a mental perspective, the amount of problems will increase, right? That's why they say biggie made the song. More money, more problems, more responsibility, more, more being on your own because, you know, you climb the mountain even higher and so. Less people to relate to. If you're the 100 million guy, maybe in your family, you're the only one. And so nobody really, truly knows how Josh feels when Josh is by himself.Mario 00:03:09 And so all of that is what I call a self-sabotaging mechanism, where you tell yourself consciously, yep, I want the $100 million business. But unconsciously you are scared of that. Because here's the thing what a self-sabotaging mechanism is. It's your conscious mind working against your unconscious mind. And if you've ever seen the picture of the iceberg where you know, you see the tiny peak above the water and the huge body underneath, your unconscious mind makes up about 95% of everything. So if you are like, yes, I want that $100 million business, your unconscious mind. No bro no no no no no, not gonna happen. That's way too much. So first of all, I would have you look at the reality of the way that you're showing up and divorce this idea that what you want is the $100 billion business. Because if your behavior shows the opposite, what you really want is you want to stay safe. You want to stay in control. You want to stay in your comfort zone. And there's nothing wrong with that.Mario 00:04:12 That's the first realization that I would bring in. And then second is to look at what is it that's missing for you if you truly want to get to that $100 million level, there are certain needs that you have that are currently not being fulfilled. It might be more of a support system. It might be someone like a coach or a...
Why Your Subconscious Keeps You Stuck: Dr. Lise Janelle on the Heart Freedom Method Episode Description What if the thing holding you back is not a lack of discipline, willpower, knowledge, or effort? In this episode of Conversations with a Chiropractor, Dr. Stephanie Wautier talks with Dr. Lise Janelle, a former chiropractor, peak performance coach, author, speaker, and creator of the Heart Freedom Method. Dr. Lise explains how subconscious beliefs can shape performance, relationships, business, money, health, and the way people respond to challenges. She shares why someone can consciously want success, love, healing, or growth while another part of them quietly associates that goal with danger, rejection, conflict, or loss. Through stories from athletes, entrepreneurs, relationships, and her own life, Dr. Lise shows how old childhood interpretations can become adult patterns. A skier who subconsciously associated winning with hurting others. A successful woman whose body reacted when she felt unheard. A chiropractor who feared success might threaten her marriage. These examples all point to the same deeper question: what story is your subconscious trying to protect you from? Stephanie and Dr. Lise also talk about self-sabotage, procrastination, victim patterns, worthiness, yin and yang, relationships, nervous system reactions, the difference between forcing and flowing, and why challenges may be guiding us toward growth. This is a conversation about getting unstuck, listening to the heart, and learning how to work with the subconscious mind instead of fighting against it. This episode is for education and reflection only. It is not a substitute for medical care, mental health care, trauma therapy, relationship counseling, or individualized professional support. In this episode, Rachel sits down with private client Alyssa Shaw, CEO and Co-Founder of Manor Aesthetics & Wellness, to unpack the incredible transformation she's experienced over the past 18 months. Alyssa wasn't lacking discipline. She wasn't lacking knowledge. She'd spent years counting calories, tracking macros, training consistently and building a hugely successful business while raising three boys as a single mother. From the outside, she looked like she had it all together. Behind the scenes, she was living in a constant state of overdrive. Every day was fuelled by anxiety, perfectionism and the need to stay in control. No matter how hard she trained, how perfectly she ate or how successful she became, her nervous system never switched off. The result? Sugar binges, chronic back pain, exhaustion and a body that simply wouldn't respond. This conversation isn't about another fat loss strategy. It's about what happens when you stop trying to fix your body... and finally address the identity that's driving every behaviour underneath it. Together, Rachel and Alyssa explore: Why high-achieving women often feel trapped in chronic stress despite outward success. The hidden connection between perfectionism, over-achievement and emotional eating. How shame - not willpower - was driving Alyssa's nightly sugar binges. The identity shift that eliminated years of food obsession almost overnight. Why counting calories wasn't the solution. Recovering from chronic back pain after years of failed treatments. Why strengthening - not stretching - completely changed her body. The importance of regulating your nervous system before chasing more success. How building boundaries actually accelerated business growth. Why doing less often allows you to achieve significantly more. How to travel constantly while maintaining your physique without calorie counting. The surprising relationship between peace, productivity and financial success. Why high performers don't need more motivation - they need a new operating system. This episode is a masterclass in what happens when you stop living in constant overdrive and start leading your life from a place of calm, confidence and clarity. If you've built the career, achieved the success and ticked all the boxes... but still feel anxious, overwhelmed, exhausted or trapped in self-sabotaging patterns, this conversation will challenge everything you think is keeping you stuck. Because your greatest transformation doesn't start with your body. It starts with who you believe you are. Can you really love yourself? Or is the whole idea built on a misunderstanding of who you are?Self-love has become one of the defining ideas of modern culture—but what if it can never deliver what it promises? Drawing on the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad-gītā and ancient yoga philosophy, Acharya das explores why lasting happiness, freedom from loneliness, and genuine love begin not with the mind, but with discovering your true spiritual identity. He argues that the widespread embrace of self-love is fundamentally flawed because it rests on a misidentification of the self — confusing the eternal spiritual being with the temporary body and mind. The ancient Vedic verses quoted in this talk.O son of Bharata, as the sun alone illuminates all this universe, so does the living entity, one within the body, illuminate the entire body by consciousness. Bhagavad-gītā 13.34Just as fire, which burns and illuminates, is different from firewood, which is to be burned to give illumination, similarly the seer within the body, the self-enlightened spirit soul, is different from the material body, which is to be illuminated by consciousness. Thus the spirit soul and the body possess different characteristics and are separate things. - Bhāgavata Purāṇa 11.10.8 One who is enlightened in self-realization, although living within the material body, sees himself as transcendental to the body, just as one who has arisen from a dream gives up identification with the dream body. A foolish person, however, although not identical with his material body but transcendental to it, thinks himself to be situated in the body, just as one who is dreaming sees himself as situated in an imaginary body. - Bhāgavata Purāṇa 11.11.8 A man must elevate himself by his own mind, not degrade himself. The mind is the friend of the conditioned soul, and his enemy as well. - Bhagavad-gītā 6.5Chapters 00:00:00 Introduction and Motivation for Discussing Self-Love 00:01:22 Historical Context and Modern Development of Self-Love 00:05:12 The Fundamental Question: Who or What is the Self? 00:07:45 The Yogic Understanding of Self and Spiritual Identity 00:09:36 The Root Cause of Suffering According to Yogic Teaching 00:11:19 Materialism vs. Spiritual Understanding 00:14:44 Scriptural Evidence: Consciousness Illuminates the Body 00:17:40 The Universal Nature of Consciousness in All Life Forms 00:21:59 The Dream Analogy and False Identification 00:25:26 The Problem with Self-Love: Who Loves Whom? 00:27:10 The Mind as Separate from the True Self 00:29:00 Self-Sabotage and the Confusion of Identity 00:31:46 Positive and Negative Self-Talk: Two Sides of the Same Coin 00:34:43 The Yogic Approach: Immunity to Praise and Criticism 00:40:22 The Mind as Friend or Enemy 00:42:21 The Faculty of Intelligence (Buddhi) 00:44:14 Practical Advice for Emotional Regulation 00:47:28 The Definition and Nature of Love 00:50:22 The Spiritual Perspective on Love and Relationship 00:53:35 The Historical Shift in Psychology's View of Self-Love 00:56:08 The Spiritual Foundation of Worth and Value 00:58:06 The Natural Desires of the Soul 01:00:32 Critique of "Greatest Love of All" and Conclusion
Why do we keep getting triggered by the same thing, over and over, no matter how much therapy or self-help we try? In this episode, Rose sits down with JJ Flizanes — transformational empowerment strategist, best-selling author, and creator of the Empowering Minds Network — to unpack the Core Wound Map, a framework built from Imago Relationship Therapy that identifies the top three wounds and beliefs quietly running your life. JJ and Rose talk about why talk therapy alone often isn't enough, how core wounds like abandonment, devaluation, and control show up in relationships and self-sabotage, the link between chronic pain and repressed emotion, how astrology can be used as a mirror for understanding yourself and the people you love, and why so many women stop themselves right at the edge of investing in their own transformation. In today's episode, we have a real, unfiltered conversation about shame as a motivator, why it doesn't work long-term, and how so many of us internalized it from diet culture, old-school coaching, and even shows like The Biggest Loser. We unpack what we're seeing across social media and in our clients - women getting right up to the edge of change… and then bailing on themselves. We discuss the difference between guilt and shame, and why confusing the two can keep you stuck in the same cycles for years. We dive into why shame is a terrible long-term motivator for fat loss and healthy habits, how guilt can actually be useful, and why making a realistic plan - then simply doing it - is one of the most powerful things you can do to build self-trust. We also talk about delegation, boundaries, people-pleasing, “grace” vs. avoidance, and how small 1% changes compound into massive transformation over time.“Guilt says I did something wrong. "There's always a reason why you feel how you feel, and if you tell yourself that you shouldn't feel that way, that doesn't function or change anything... I think that the whole therapy model is deeply flawed, and that's not talking $hit to any therapist. "It felt like the right time to say some things I don't think enough people are saying. In my work, and in the way I look at healing childhood wounding, clearing trauma, and creating real transformation, I see the same misapplications over and over. People take true, powerful concepts like karma, or teachings from Buddhism, or "just do your inner child work," and apply them so black-and-white that it actually keeps them stuck instead of setting them free.In this episode, I'm getting into why feeling your feelings is a skill nobody actually teaches you, least of all in a therapy program (mine never mentioned trauma once, in a full master's in counseling psychology). I'm also saying something I don't think enough people are willing to say: how screaming and crying your way through a breathwork session, or doing plant medicine without integration, can become its own form of avoidance. This is the paradigm shift I'm building my work around, and I wanted you in it with me.TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTSWhy concepts like karma and spiritual bypassing keep people stuck instead of setting them freeThe difference between healing childhood wounding and having a consistent spiritual practiceThe real meaning of "addressing" your feelingsWhy a full master's program in counseling psychology never once mentioned traumaThe truth about holotropic breathwork, screaming, and when catharsis becomes avoidanceWhy plant medicine can show you the truth without helping you live itThe moment I realized my own coping mechanism was leaving my bodyThe Metamorphosis Method® vs. Traditional therapy**WAYS TO ENTER MY WORLD**When you leave a review of the podcast on Apple Podcasts and send us a screenshot of it, we'll send you a $250 credit that you can apply to anything else in my world.Join me in The Metamorphosis which is my 3-month, groundbreaking, flagship program to rapidly and efficiently clear the familial and ancestral trauma that is blocking you from experiencing the wealth and freedom that you desire.Starting a business or working with clients? You set a plan to take a break from drinking and made it a few days. Then you blew it. And now you're trying to figure out why you keep breaking promises to yourself when it comes to alcohol. This episode gives you a step by step strategy (based on curiosity and self-compassion instead of judgment) to help you reduce your drinking. What you'll learn: Why taking a break from drinking isn't about proving you can go without it The five questions to ask after a setback (instead of "what's wrong with me") Why the same glass of wine is self-care one night and self-sabotage the next How to follow your intuition instead of arbitrary rules you're going to break anyway Want to know if this approach can actually work for you? Your mind can sound deeply religious while quietly talking you out of healing. When change requires effort, the nafs doesn't usually say “I'm scared.” It says “be careful,” then borrows sacred words like sabr, qadr, tawakkul, and gratitude to make stagnation feel like righteousness, even as your anxiety, reactivity, and relationship stress stay the same. We walk through the hidden “religious skepticism” that shows up when you consider therapy, coaching, nervous system regulation, boundaries, or learning new communication skills. I break down the difference between prophetic sabr and self abandonment, between trusting qadr and opting out of your life, and between sincere dua and spiritual procrastination. We also name a common trap: mistaking unfamiliar language for something un-Islamic without actually checking evidence, scholarship, or outcomes. You'll leave with a simple filter to test that inner voice: does it move you toward emotional stability, mercy, and excellence, or does it keep you stuck in fight, flight, freeze, and years of the same pain? If you've ever “haram policed” yourself out of growth, this will help you hear what's really happening. Your subconscious mind is running 95% of your decisions. Your conscious mind, the part that's setting goals, making resolutions, and telling itself to do better, is only working with the remaining 5%. That gap is why knowing what you should do is never enough. Thais Gibson has spent over a decade building a framework that actually closes that gap. She is a counselor, founder of the Gibson Integrated Attachment Theory™, and has worked with over 60,000 people through The Personal Development School. In this episode of Habits and Hustle, she breaks down why self-sabotage is not what we all think it is, how your attachment style is quietly running your relationships, and the exact process to rewire patterns you have been carrying since childhood. This is one of those conversations that will make you look at your own behavior completely differently. What's Discussed: (00:05) The real reason your conscious goals keep losing to your subconscious programming. (15:30) What your attachment style is actually telling you about your childhood. (29:00) The attachment combination most likely to end in a vicious cycle. (45:00) Why dating a secure person does not fix an insecure attachment. (58:00) That one belief that's quietly destroying your ability to connect. (1:05:00) What limerence is and why people mistake it for love. (1:15:00) The five pillars to rewire your attachment style at a subconscious level. (1:20:00) Why affirmations do not work and what to do instead. Thank You to Our Sponsors!
