So So I think it helped me create those retreats or those air pockets in my life that I need. Because I tend to just be an over worker, I love what I do. There's a lot of need in the world. So it helped me be more present with myself and not let my mind be a runaway train. Thoughts on Breathing Above all, I love the box breathing method. So It's a nice four-count holding and then releasing. So The reason I like it so much is that it's sustainable because sometimes if I make things too grand and too complex, I might stay with it for a while, but then fall off track. So I was that loud person that would stand up if I saw someone being hurt. Understanding the impact on one's life when these things happen, and how to help teach social-emotional skills and kindness are things that weren't necessarily present on the school bus in the 1980s. So Therefore, mindfulness would have helped me probably be a little bit more self-compassionate, and it would have helped me deal with that override of anxiety and fear that I was doing in those moments. So I love the exercise of thinking like, what would your past self say to yourself? Or what would you want your future self to say to the now. If I could look back I would say to myself, this is going to help you develop your empathy, this is going to help you be more mindful in how you show up and you contribute to the world. Don't internalize the messages of the meanness of the people, doing this kind of bullying that doesn't define you. Roni Zulu is a true powerhouse and original. He was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky; shortly thereafter, his family relocated to Terre Haute, Indiana and his teenage years were spent in Sarasota, Florida. That can be gardening, music etc. 6:58 Creating art for product is very different than creating art for process. I wanted art to be a tool for me, not to make a living. So I got a degree in Psychology with a major in art. And then I got a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. 8:23 My whole life had been working with people recovering from accident or illness who need to reinvent themselves. 8:39 In the last six years, I got a job with Jewish family services working with women with breast cancer. During this time I got the idea for my book. I saw women were lost and didn't have the tools they needed for their life. 10:19 There are 6 prescriptions in the book with activities. 13:34 When you have cancer you have to heal body, mind and spirit because you are an intuitive, creative, spiritual, intellectual and emotional being and all those parts of you need to be part of the healing process. 16:57 The book is user friendly. The supplies are not a lot of money, and you don't need to be artistic. It's about the process of creating for healing benefits. You are in the flow, relaxing, and having fun like when we were children. 19:23 You can do the activities and get what you need in the moment, but you can go deeper and journal. This books helps people to be able to move on with their lives after treatment because they've dealt with their emotions. 25:55 I have found that the women that I work with and have cancer that have a strong faith, not necessarily religion, do better with treatment.
