Tara is a repeat guest, and she first appeared on the podcast on episode 301 in April of 2023. Tara is a retired psychologist and now helps her son with his dog training business. She shares her journey with intermittent fasting, which she began in March 2022. Initially, she was motivated by the need for change after years of caring for family and constant travel. Tara has experienced significant weight loss, dropping 60 pounds overall, and found that fasting fit seamlessly into her lifestyle. Despite facing challenges like plateaus and stress, she remained committed to the practice, emphasizing the importance of adapting fasting windows to her daily life.Tara discusses the impact of life events, such as her husband's health scare, on her fasting journey. These experiences prompted her to prioritize her own health and well-being. She highlights the importance of listening to her body, adjusting her eating windows, and focusing on nourishing foods. Tara's story illustrates how intermittent fasting became a sustainable lifestyle rather than a quick fix, allowing her to maintain her weight loss and improve her overall health. For those new to intermittent fasting, Tara advises embracing the process as an evolution rather than a revolution. She emphasizes the importance of patience and self-compassion, encouraging listeners to enjoy the present moment and the gradual changes that come with it. By leaning into life's experiences and allowing time for the body to adapt, Tara believes that the journey becomes more rewarding and sustainable.Join Gin in the new Fast Feast Repeat app for The Grown-Up Year: 52 Weeks to Listen, Play, and Nourish, as well as a growing collection of intermittent fasting resources. In this episode, I tackle a few of the questions I get all the time around nutrition and training, from intermittent fasting and hitting your protein goals to figuring out where you should actually start when it comes to building a better body. I break down why I'm not a huge fan of intermittent fasting for most people, why awareness of your calories and macros matters more than chasing the latest diet hack, and how to make hitting your protein target much simpler by structuring your meals properly.I also get into what I believe is one of the biggest mistakes people make in the gym: trying to train like someone who is already years ahead of them. You don't start in fifth gear, you start in first. I explain why mastering the fundamentals, learning to move properly, and building a solid foundation should come before advanced training methods, high-volume bodybuilding programs, and all the nuances you see online. Whether you're brand new to training or you've been doing this for years, there's always value in going back to the basics and making sure your foundation is strong. Hosted on Acast. We've all done it — the new plan, the new resolve, the "this time I mean it." So why does it never stick? In this episode, we dig into why willpower and self-discipline can't fix a body image struggle, because the real issue was never really about the body at all. In this episode best-selling author and podcast host, Heather Creekmore discusses the distinction between managing behavior and addressing the root, why trying harder can subtly become its own idol, and what practical, lasting change actually looks like when it emerges from being already loved, rather than striving to earn it. She shares her journey into intermittent fasting, which began after she noticed a transformation in a woman she followed online. Initially skeptical, Rachel was intrigued by the focus on whole foods and mindset work, which led her to reevaluate her eating habits. She discovered that many foods she considered healthy were actually processed, prompting her to adopt a more natural diet. This shift not only improved her health but also changed her relationship with food, allowing her to enjoy substitutions without feeling restricted.Rachel discusses the importance of mindset in achieving success with intermittent fasting. She emphasizes that a positive mindset is crucial for long-term success, as it helps individuals approach fasting with a sustainable and healthy attitude. Rachel's journey included cutting out processed sugars and focusing on whole foods, which helped her become fat-adapted. This adaptation allowed her to extend her fasting periods comfortably, leading to significant weight loss and improved overall well-being. Rachel's story highlights the power of mindset and the benefits of listening to one's body.Rachel concludes with advice for new intermittent fasters, stressing the importance of trusting the process and embracing the clean fast. She wishes she had known earlier about the impact of a clean fast, as it made a significant difference in her journey. Rachel encourages others to try it for 28 days, as the experience can be transformative. Her story serves as an inspiration for those looking to improve their health through intermittent fasting, emphasizing the importance of patience, mindset, and self-discovery.Join Gin in the new Fast Feast Repeat app for The Grown-Up Year: 52 Weeks to Listen, Play, and Nourish, as well as a growing collection of intermittent fasting resources. Is intermittent fasting biohacker wellness hype or legit health intervention? Some studies show real benefits, others find nothing, and the occasional headline calls it bad for your heart.Dr. Courtney Peterson has spent nearly two decades running some of the field's most tightly controlled feeding trials, and her data points to a clear pattern: there is a real effect to a restricted eating window, but when you eat may matter as much as how long you fast. Her studies found that eating in a short window early in the day lowers blood pressure and improves insulin sensitivity, even without weight loss. A physicist by training, she brings that same rigor to a field built mostly on people's own food diaries.Free course: Improve your metabolic healthGet our free email course on how glucose, nutrition, exercise, sleep, and measurement can help you build habits that support better energy and long-term health: https://levels.link/wnl

In this episode of The Michael Chernow Podcast, Michael sits down with Alexander Stein for an unfiltered conversation about disordered eating, body dysmorphia, fitness obsession, and the struggles men rarely talk about. Alex shares how his relationship with food began changing at just eight years old and eventually became decades of restriction, over-exercising, coffee, and one meal a day. At his lowest point, he was 6'2" and 140 pounds, yet still struggled to recognize how unhealthy he had become. Michael also opens up about developing his own unhealthy relationship with food and fitness after getting sober, leading to a larger conversation about the incredibly thin line between discipline and obsession. They examine modern fitness culture, intermittent fasting, body-image pressure, social media, and why behaviors that look “healthy” from the outside can sometimes be driven by fear and control. Alex explains the moment hearing Nikki Glaser speak openly about her own struggles finally made him feel understood, why being told he didn't technically qualify as anorexic became a dangerous challenge in his mind, and what ultimately helped him rebuild his relationship with food. This is a conversation for anyone who has ever wondered: Am I actually healthy—or am I obsessed?KOHhttps://kreaturesofhabit.comIGhttps://www.instagram.com/michaelchernowhttps://www.instagram.com/kreaturesofhabitCHAPTERS:0:00 Intro & Trigger Warning4:33 What Does Disordered Eating Actually Look Like?7:02 Dieting at Just 8 Years Old12:12 The Fear of Ever Getting Fat16:28 6'2" and 140 Pounds — How Bad It Got19:00 Michael's Own Battle With Food After Sobriety23:13 20 Years of Food Rules & Body Dysmorphia27:27 Coffee, One Meal a Day & Extreme Restriction30:26 Healthy or Obsessed? He discusses how tracking his progress with tools like Happy Scale has motivated him to maintain his fasting routine. Marvin also shares insights into how his taste in food has evolved, preferring more satisfying and nutritious options over processed foods. He highlights the significance of setting small, achievable goals and how these have contributed to his overall success and well-being.Marvin's advice to new intermittent fasters is to start small and not feel ashamed if they can't go all out immediately. He stresses the importance of focusing on one's identity and living from that perspective, rather than striving for external validation. This approach, he believes, is crucial for long-term success and personal fulfillment.Join Gin in the new Fast Feast Repeat app for The Grown-Up Year: 52 Weeks to Listen, Play, and Nourish, as well as a growing collection of intermittent fasting resources. The Fasting Highway
Episode 325 Jaqui Lewis - A dedicated faster shares her very inspiring journey.

Jacqui Lewis fasting highway bio update. Came to intermittent fasting the usual circuitous route of Weight Watchers, counting calories, overexercising, and undereating. Discovered fasting through Gin Stevens ' fast-feast-repeat. That was in November 2021, and I never looked back. Since then, I have not missed one day of fasting with the exception of the day I had open-heart surgery. I have fasted through many vacations, many trips, a new job, a death in the family, and the memorial of my mom. Fasting is flexible for me and the greatest thing I've ever found. I went from 145 11/21 to 125 by spring of 22, also losing17 inches of fluff. I stay there at 125…now and then going up to the top of my range, 128. If I get up to the top of my range, I rein it in & pull back on candy, desserts, cookies and non-alcoholic beer. If I get too low, which I have dipped down to 121, I try to drink protein shakes in addition to my one meal a day. In the beginning, I clean fasted, and to this day I always clean fast. It took me two years to tolerate black coffee; now I love it. I still drink creamy coffee in my windows. My windows never get below 14 hours. That's my absolute shortest, and I go anywhere from 18 to 22 hours on a normal day. I generally break my fast with creamy coffee and a handful of nuts. Sometimes I have a snack and then a meal; often, now that I started a new job, I have creamy coffee, nuts, and a meal and later a snack before I close my window  Come and join our Patreon Community or book a one-on-one call with Graeme Graeme is available to work one-on-one with you, and you can book in with him at the website www.thefastinghighway.com To join Graeme's Patreon and get help every week in a group setting and through regular audio pieces exclusive to Patreon members, head to www.patreon.com/thefastinghighwayHis book is widely available on Amazon and all good online book retailers in Kindle, Paperback, and audiobook formats.
