He explores what it means to choose love after a lifetime of hurt, reflecting on caring for a father who never fully knew how to love him. Along the way, Matthew unpacks how childhood wounds shape us, why healing doesn't depend on getting the apology we deserve, and how reclaiming our own story can lead to greater compassion, freedom, and meaning, even in relationships marked by deep hurt.

New Money Making Conversations episodes drop daily. I want to alert you, so you don’t miss out on expert analysis and insider perspectives from my guests who provide tips that can help you uplift the community, improve your financial planning, motivation, or advice on how to be a successful entrepreneur. Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Howard Hewett. He shared the journey that took him from Akron, Ohio, to becoming the lead singer of Shalamar and a successful solo artist. Beyond music, the discussion highlighted lessons that apply to entrepreneurship, business ownership, and personal success. The interview demonstrates that success is rarely accidental; it is usually the result of years of preparation, visualization, discipline, and honoring one's commitments. Key Takeaways 1. Success Begins with Vision Howard began visualizing his future long before he became famous. As a teenager, he practiced signing autographs and imagined himself performing for large audiences. Lesson: Create a clear vision of the future you want before opportunities arrive. Quote: "I always said, I'm going to live in California." Quote: "I would sit there literally and say, 'Love, Howard Hewett.'" 2. Visualization and Meditation Matter After moving to California, Howard developed a routine of sitting by a pool each day, visualizing successful performances and a thriving music career. Lesson: Mental preparation and visualization help build confidence and clarity. Quote: "Every day about 12, 12:30, I would go down to the pool and just visualize what I wanted to do." Quote: "I'd visualize singing in front of thousands of people." 3. Preparation Creates Opportunity One of the interview's central themes was that opportunity alone is not enough. Howard stressed that years of singing, touring, and developing his talent prepared him for the moment Shalamar called. Lesson: Preparation is what allows you to capitalize on opportunity. Quote: "You've got to be in the right place at the right time and be prepared." Quote: "You can be in the right place at the right time, but if you haven't taken the time to prepare yourself, that opportunity can slip away." 4. Every Experience Serves a Purpose Howard spent years performing in show groups and touring internationally before joining Shalamar. At the time, those experiences may not have seemed connected to his ultimate breakthrough. Lesson: What feels like a detour may actually be preparation for a bigger opportunity. Quote: "All those things... were preparing me for that moment." 5. Integrity Is More Valuable Than Contracts When Shalamar offered him a position, Howard still gave the Motown producers he was working with an opportunity to correct their payment issues because he valued his word. Lesson: Reputation and integrity often determine long-term success. Quote: "Your word is worth more than any piece of paper you could ever sign." Quote: "What you say you're going to do is what people look at." 6. Be Ready When Opportunity Knocks Howard received the Shalamar opportunity unexpectedly while sitting in a Motown office discussing unpaid money. Within three days he had auditioned, joined the group, learned choreography, and performed on television. Lesson: Major life changes can happen quickly if you're prepared. Quote: "Friday I got the offer. Saturday I did the audition. Saturday night I was on that plane." 7. Longevity Comes from Consistency Howard discussed having spent virtually his entire life singing professionally, beginning at age ten. Lesson: Sustained success comes from continually developing your craft over decades. Quote: "This is all I've been doing." 8. Sometimes You Must Ignore Skeptics When Howard was offered the lead singer position in Shalamar, people advised him against taking it, believing the group and its record label would not succeed. Lesson: Not everyone sees your opportunity the way you do. Quote: "Shalamar is nothing but a fly-by-night disco group. They won't amount to anything." Yet Howard trusted his instincts and accepted the opportunity that changed his life. Most Memorable Quotes On Vision "I always said, I'm going to live in California." On Visualization "I would go down to the pool and just visualize what I wanted to do." On Preparation "You've got to be in the right place at the right time and be prepared." On Integrity "Your word is worth more than any piece of paper you could ever sign." On Experience "All those things were preparing me for that moment." On Readiness "Because I was prepared, that's how that opportunity came about." Bottom Line Howard Hewett's story is not just about music—it is a masterclass on vision, preparation, persistence, and integrity. His journey shows that breakthroughs often arrive unexpectedly, but only those who have invested years in developing themselves are truly ready to seize them. His message is clear: Dream deliberately, prepare relentlessly, keep your word, and be ready when opportunity arrives. #SHMS #BEST #STRAW Support the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

July 22, Feast of Saint Mary Magdalene - A Model of Holy Love and Desire

    Catholic Daily Reflections

Read OnlineA Model of Holy Love and DesireOn the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they put him.” John 20:1–2When Jesus first encountered Mary Magdalene, she was afflicted by seven demons. Many Church Fathers interpret this number as symbolizing a complete domination by evil spirits. Though later traditions identified Mary Magdalene with the repentant prostitute or the woman caught in adultery, the Gospels themselves do not explicitly make that identification. What is certain is that she had been grievously afflicted by demons (cf. Luke 8:2).To fall into such spiritual bondage suggests a life marked by serious sin. However, diabolical possession is not always the direct result of mortal sin; at times, God may permit such affliction for reasons known only to His providence, allowing a greater good to emerge from it. Whatever the cause of Mary Magdalene's prior affliction, it is clear that God, in His infinite mercy, transformed her into a radiant model of holy love and desire. From her profound healing flowed a singular devotion to Christ.Today's Gospel beautifully portrays the emotion, desire, sorrow, and love flowing from Mary's heart. She was one of the few faithful disciples who remained with Jesus during His Passion and death. She stood by the Cross alongside Jesus' mother, the Apostle John, and a few other holy women. Her strength and devotion likely sprang from her heartfelt gratitude toward Jesus for delivering her from diabolical affliction. The freedom she experienced through Him enkindled in her an unwavering faith, recognizing Him as the Messiah and the Son of God.On Easter Sunday morning, before the sun had even risen, Mary made her way to the tomb to anoint Jesus' body. Since Jesus had died shortly before the Sabbath began—sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday—Mary and the other women had been unable to properly anoint His sacred Body. We can imagine that from the moment the Sabbath began, her heart was fixed on one desire: to return to the tomb and perform this final act of love. Her devotion could not wait. Love compelled her to act as soon as it was permitted, and in doing so, she became the first to behold the empty tomb—and soon after, the Risen Lord.We see Mary's holy love and desire also in her determination to remain at the empty tomb. After seeing the stone rolled away, she ran to tell the Apostles, and then returned with Peter and John. But after they departed, Mary remained. She stayed, weeping, loving, and longing. She was so consumed with desire for her Lord that, when she saw two angels seated in the tomb, she was neither startled nor impressed—not even when they spoke to her: “Woman, why are you weeping?” Her only thought was for Jesus: “They have taken my Lord, and I don't know where they laid him.”Even when Jesus appeared, His identity veiled from her eyes, she still sought only His body. Yet it was His voice—tender, familiar, unmistakable—that pierced the veil and opened her eyes of faith: “Mary!” She responded with that beautiful, personal cry of recognition, “Rabbouni!”Reflect today on the transformed soul of Saint Mary Magdalene. She went from diabolical affliction to a heart overflowing with holy love and desire for our Lord. She is a model for each of us. We must allow ourselves to be filled with the same gratitude for His grace and reconciliation, cultivate the same unwavering devotion, and burn with the same longing to find Him. When our hearts mirror Mary's, we too will hear the Lord call us by name. Be grateful. Desire Him. Listen for Him. And like Mary, you will find that He is already standing before you.Rabbouni! With Saint Mary Magdalene, I give thanks to You with all my heart for the freedom You have mercifully bestowed upon me. You have forgiven my sins, restored me to grace, and kept me safe from the snares of the enemy. With Mary, I pray that my passions and every movement of my soul may be caught up in love of You, driving me to seek You with all my being. Speak my name, O Lord, call me lovingly, and open my eyes to see You always before me. Jesus, I trust in You.  Image: St Mary Magdalene, by Lawrence OP, CC BY-NC-ND 2.0.Source: Free RSS feed from catholic-daily-reflections.com — Copyright © 2026 My Catholic Life! Inc. The Surfer’s Journal presents Soundings with Jamie Brisick

Jack Johnson is a multi-platinum-selling singer-songwriter, surfer, and environmentalist. Before turning to playing music professionally, Johnson had designs on a career as a pro surfer. Having grown up on the North Shore of Oahu, and, in particular, having made his way toward the center of the peak at Pipe, he was well on his way by his early twenties. However, he headbutted the reef out there, got more than 100 stitches in his forehead, and lost teeth.  Johnson subsequently went to UCSB to study film. He and his friend Chris Malloy cooked up the idea for what would become the seminal surf flick Thicker Than Water. A couple years later, they followed up with The September Sessions. Johnson had been playing guitar and writing songs since childhood, and on one of the trips for his movies, he wrote a song called "Rodeo Clowns," which related to a trick his buddy Kelly Slater was working on. Johnson recorded the song with his friend G. Love of G. Love & Special Sauce. "Rodeo Clowns" became a hit. His music career took off. One day he was a shy kid playing to a small crowd at the Belly Up in Solana Beach. The next he was on every radio station. Nine records, many hits, and a laundry list of awards followed. In 2008, he and his wife, Kim, created the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation, a non-profit public charity supporting environmental, art, and music education worldwide. They have three kids and live on the North Shore. Johnson still surfs regularly. In fact, his life is not terribly dissimilar to the one he knew growing up—though he's now a household name, sells out major venues, and sometimes hears his own music playing in the supermarket. In this episode of Soundings, Johnson sits down with host Jamie Brisick to talk about growing up in Hawaii, his early dreams of pro surfing, the art of the soundtrack, connecting with nature, the making of Thicker Than Water and The September Sessions, penning lyrics, and the accident that changed the course of his life. His journey shows that breakthroughs often arrive unexpectedly, but only those who have invested years in developing themselves are truly ready to seize them. His message is clear: Dream deliberately, prepare relentlessly, keep your word, and be ready when opportunity arrives. #SHMS #BEST #STRAW Steve Harvey Morning Show Online: http://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Are your investment dollars sitting idle in a self-directed IRA or low-yield account while inflation eats away at your buying power? In this episode of The Note Closers Show, Scott Carson sits down with members of the WCN community to reveal a massive opportunity in short-term performing paper. A seasoned, 20-year veteran of the real estate industry—and former operator of one of the largest "We Buy Ugly Houses" franchises in Dallas—is recapitalizing his $15 million hard money lending portfolio by offering investors access to double-digit performing notes across 15 states! Discover how you can step into fully originated, double-digit performing first-lien notes with loan amounts ranging from $50,000 to over $300,000. Scott breaks down why these 12-month interest-only loans offer the ultimate sweet spot for investors who want short-term capital velocity without locking up funds for 30 years or managing property rehabs. Learn how the originating lender retains all ongoing loan servicing, manages draw holdbacks, monitors photo updates, and handles any necessary downside enforcement so you can sit back and collect true passive cash flow. Scott also walks you through the power of capital arbitrage. Learn how to raise private money at 7% or 8% to fund 12% performing paper, locking in an infinite rate of return on the spread while putting lazy capital to work. From analyzing borrower experience levels and 70% LTV buffers to navigating fast-foreclosure states like Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina, this episode is your complete blueprint for high-yield, short-term note investing. Key Topics Covered in This Episode:Inside a $15M Performing Tape: Why a veteran hard money lender is selling off double-digit paper to recapitalize and expand loan originations. The Power of Short-Term Notes: Why 1-year interest-only loans provide maximum flexibility and capital velocity for self-directed IRA investors. Built-In Downside Risk Protection: How a 70% LTV threshold, strict borrower skin-in-the-game, and repair holdbacks safeguard your principal. True Passive Loan Servicing: How the originator handles interest collections, draw disbursements, photo updates, and borrower monitoring. The Spread Arbitrage Strategy: How to raise private investor capital at 7–8% to fund 12%+ notes, creating an infinite rate of return. Ep #146 - In this episode of The Awakened Heart Podcast, I sit down with Thayne Martin for a powerful conversation about emotional healing, gratitude, neuroscience, unconditional love, and the journey from surviving trauma to creating a life of greater peace, connection, and purpose.Thayne's life story is extraordinary. After experiencing profound childhood trauma, living with Dissociative Identity Disorder, struggling with addiction, and surviving multiple near-death experiences, he began a deeply personal journey of healing and self-discovery. Through that process, he developed a new understanding of how our subconscious beliefs, emotional patterns, and life experiences shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us.Together, we explore how gratitude can become much more than a positive thought or daily checklist. Thayne shares the neuroscience behind gratitude, love, emotional balance, and human connection - and explains how intentional experiences may help us shift deeply rooted beliefs and create meaningful change from within. We also talk about the neurochemicals connected to love and bonding, including oxytocin, dopamine, and vasopressin; the influence of media and subconscious programming; healing generational and ancestral patterns; heart-brain coherence; shadow work; spiritual awakening; and the importance of becoming aware of the emotional energy we bring into our everyday lives.Thayne also shares practical tools, including his “gratitude cocktail,” gratitude bracelet, gratitude sandwich protocol, and simple ways we can create meaningful moments of connection, even with complete strangers. One of the messages that stayed with me most from this conversation is that love and connection are what truly matter. When we begin changing what is happening within us, those changes naturally ripple outward into our relationships, communities, and the world around us.If you've been feeling emotionally stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or ready to create a deeper sense of inner peace, I hope this conversation reminds you that healing is possible, and that small, intentional moments of gratitude, kindness, awareness, and genuine connection can have a much greater impact than we realize. In this episode, we explore:Thayne's journey through childhood trauma, DID, addiction, and healingHow his near-death experiences changed his understanding of life and connectionThe relationship between neuroscience, gratitude, love, and emotional healingHow subconscious beliefs influence our emotions and behaviorThe “gratitude cocktail” and the brain chemistry connected to gratitudePractical ways to create authentic moments of connection with strangersOxytocin, dopamine, vasopressin, and emotional balanceHow experiential learning may help shift deeply rooted patternsHeart-brain coherence and awarenessShadow work, epigenetics, and ancestral traumaThe influence of media and subconscious programmingSpiritual awakening, consciousness, abundance, and inner peaceWhat it truly means to live with an awakened heart Sound bites"We could add a podcast before the podcast.""Love and connection are what truly matter""Before was heavy, now I feel weightless"

Dan emphasized the importance of understanding clients' perspectives, asking curious questions, and demonstrating empathy during negotiations. The discussion then shifted to broader market challenges, with Dan advising participants to focus on process over results, maintain consistency despite difficult market conditions, and invest in professional development opportunities like EXP Con to connect with successful agents.

In the Mouth of Madness (1994) Directed by John Carpenter Starring: Sam Neill, Jürgen Prochnow, Julie Carmen, David WarnerThere's a scene in In the Mouth of Madness with a "little fucking flappy arm thing" pretending to be an unspeakable cosmic horror, and honestly, that's the whole movie in a nutshell. This week we dig into John Carpenter's 1994 slow-burn descent into madness starring Sam Neill as an insurance investigator who gets way, way too invested in finding a missing horror novelist. Spoiler: reality is a construct and also everyone in New Hampshire is exceptionally fucking stupid. In this episode, we discuss:Sam Neill Carries This Whole Damn Movie — He's arrogant, he's a prick, and he still manages to sell a believable descent into madness. We break down why his performance is doing more heavy lifting than anyone else in the cast. The Flappy Arm Problem — When your Lovecraftian monster looks like a dollar-store bath toy, you've got issues. We get into why the movie's practical effects and CGI just don't hold up, especially next to what Jurassic Park and Terminator 2 were doing years earlier on bigger budgets.Two-Thirds Boring, One-Third Bonkers — We go back and forth on pacing: one of us thinks it's a slow burn that pays off, the other thinks it's a whole lot of driving around New England before anything actually happens. What's the Worst They Can Do? Chop You Up — We rant about horror movie logic, townspeople who won't run from hellhound Dobermans, and why nobody in this film has ever considered just flooring it.We Also Talked About:MTV's The Real World Reunion (Seasons 1-3) (Youtube) – A nostalgic dive into early reality TV and why Robert Smith deserved better than "Friday I'm in Love."Don't Pick Up the Phone (2024) (Netflix) – A Netflix documentary about a decade-long phone hoax scam that hit fast food chains across the country.Sherman's March (1985) (Ok.Ru) – A bizarre, unexpectedly charming documentary about one filmmaker's romantic misadventures while loosely retracing a Civil War general's path.Kick of Death (1997) (Tubi) – A Troma karate flop so boring it's not even fun to make fun of.Billy the Exterminator (Tubi) – A guilty-pleasure reality show about a Hot Topic goth exterminating alligators in Louisiana. The Death and Life of Lamar Odom (Netflix) – An Untold documentary on Netflix covering addiction, tragedy, and a truly unbelievable overdose story.Pharmacist Grant Harting on YouTube – He's a licensed pharmacistin four states, buys gas station boner pills, breaks down the ingredients, and takes them before going on a blind date to see what happens. Some of the above links are affiliate links — if you purchase through them we get a small kickback, and it's the best way to support the show.New episodes of the Dewey Pod Monster podcast drop every week. There is a word that comes up often in prayer that most of us find complicated: Surrender. For many of us it sounds like defeat, like giving up, like one more thing we have to do after already doing everything we could think of. But in this episode of The Angela Montano Hour: Prayer on the Air, Angela offers a different way of seeing it.Surrender, she suggests, is not resignation. It is the willingness to let the architecture of suffering dissolve, to release the conviction that our peace must wait until circumstances finally go the way we need them to go. And once we have surrendered into that mystery, something else becomes possible: asking. Not asking from lack or shame or the desperate hope that getting what we want will finally make us feel worthy. Asking from wholeness. From esteem. From the quiet audacity of believing that even me, even I, deserve more. This in-breath and out-breath of prayer, surrender and opening, is the heart of this week's conversation.Through deeply moving prayer requests, Angela shows us how the practice of surrender and opening can meet us exactly where we are, even in the places that feel most intractable.Sandra is navigating an extraordinary opportunity with her son, recognizing that true peace does not depend on another. What freedom there is in letting go of that need for another to be whom we 'think' we need them to be, and what a gift it is to take that pressure off of both mother and son.Kate's beloved horse Bonfire has withdrawn after a difficult training session, and together they discover that love is present even in the distance, even in the space that doesn't yet look the way Kate feels she needs it to be. Through prayer, we open to the deeper perfection unfolding.Chris brings something so many of us are carrying right now, the weight of watching cruelty unfold in the world, from war to trafficking, and the anguished question of where God is in any of it.Her response to Chris carries the heart of the whole episode: “Love can never be absent, but Love needs a witness.” Prayer, she reminds us, is how we become that witness. It is how we send love into the places where it appears most dormant, trusting that something is happening even when we cannot see it.In this episode:Releasing the dualistic mindset that keeps peace just out of reachAsking from a place of wholeness, not lackAllowing the architecture of suffering to dissolveThe Krishnamurti teaching on peace that changes everythingHow love is present even in distance, even in silenceBecoming a witness to love in the places where it appears most dormantAbout Prayer on the AirPrayer on the Air is a live weekly gathering where people from more than 75 countries come together to pray, reflect, and remember the presence of love at the center of all things. Geoff Garlock also watched it, although he did occasionally fast-forward through Brian May's guitar solo and Queen's extended trip through the 1950s.Jason and Geoff look back at Queen's massive July 12, 1986 Wembley performance, the peak of the Magic Tour and one of the final concerts Queen ever played with Freddie Mercury. They discuss Jason discovering Queen through “Another One Bites the Dust,” Wayne's World and a mall record store employee named Rick; Freddie's iconic yellow military jacket; John Deacon's alarmingly short shorts; the mystery of Freddie Mercury's onstage package; the audience couple that apparently hugged for the entire concert; and Queen's unmatched ability to command a stadium. They also break down the explosive opening run of “One Vision” and “Tie Your Mother Down,” the return of “In the Lap of the Gods… Revisited,” Freddie's legendary crowd work, the “Radio Ga Ga” claps, the emotional power of “Love of My Life” and “Who Wants to Live Forever,” and the slightly strange decision to place “Friends Will Be Friends” between “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.”Plus: Pantera reply guys, gas-station sunglasses, the UK kite festival, One Chicken, Status Quo somehow being the actual answer, the cheap-looking royal crown, and Geoff & Jason saying “nah.”Hawk Rock Summer continues next week with Rock Autopsy: Classic Rock One-Hit Wonders Part Two!Series Seven of 108.9 The Hawk premieres Monday, August 17th.Tell your friends about the show and support The Hawk at Patreon.com/1089TheHawk. In Episode 377 of The Real Jason Duncan Podcast, you've heard it your whole life. Happy wife, happy life. It sounds like love. It sounds like wisdom. It sounds like exactly what a good husband is supposed to do. And for Jim Lange, that's what made it so dangerous. He believed it for decades. And it didn't make his marriage better. It made him a doormat in his own home — and he called it faithfulness. Jim Lange is a number one bestselling author, executive leadership coach, and men's marriage coach who spent more than 30 years in business and leadership. He is the author of The Happy Wife Happy Life Deception: How To Stop Walking On Eggshells & Be The Man You Were Made To Be, Bleedership: Biblical First-Aid for Leaders, and Calming the Storm Within. He leads Kingdom Factor leadership roundtable groups, coaches men trapped in destructive marriages, and leads The Council of Arimathea — a community for Christian business owners who have exited their businesses and are figuring out what comes next. He has been married to Carolyn for years and is a father of five grown children and grandfather of three. Today, Jim sits down with Jason to expose the lie handed to men like a wedding gift. Four words. Happy wife, happy life. And what those four words actually do to a man who believes them — not for a year, but for decades. In this episode, Jason and Jim cover: Where the belief came from for Jim — and how deep he was in it before he started to question it The high school breakup that planted a fear of rejection that followed him into marriage for 30 years Why growing up never hearing his parents argue became a false narrative that conflict equals the end How being raised to perform for love turned him into a chronic people pleaser — and why that's a trap Why happiness is an inside job — and why no husband has the power to make his wife happy no matter how hard he tries The men's group advice that made it worse — just love her more — and why it kept him stuck The fast that finally revealed where it all started — and what God showed him in that moment The year of fireworks that followed when he finally spoke up — and what happened when he brought in a mediator, his pastor, and a counselor Why a 6'8" man couldn't see that what was happening to him was abuse — and what his coach finally helped him see The physical cost of 30 years of walking on eggshells — adrenal fatigue, two years of crashes, and what it took to recover What he'd tell an engaged couple today about this concept — and what he wishes someone had told him 20 years ago Why this lie is especially pervasive in Christian circles — and what Scripture actually says about love, submission, and mutual respect The one thing Jim wants every man still inside this lie to hear before the episode ends You can't control her happiness. You never could. And the cage you built trying to is the most expensive one you'll ever live in.

How yoga philosophy helps us love difficult people without abandoning ourselves. How do we keep our hearts open when someone has hurt us?And how do we practice love without pretending something is okay when it is not?In this episode of The Midlife Purpose Project, we continue the conversation from Part 1 of Loving When It Feels Hard and go deeper into what happens when difficult relationships become truly hurtful. This episode is not about spiritual bypassing. It is not about pretending you are not angry, hurt, resentful, or grieving. And it is not about abandoning yourself in the name of being loving or spiritual.Instead, this episode explores how yoga philosophy can help us stay connected to love while also honoring our truth, setting boundaries, feeling our emotions, and protecting our peace. We talk about ahimsa, or non-harming, and why non-harming must include yourself. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is set a clear boundary, create distance, speak the truth, or even release a relationship that continues to cause harm.We also explore viveka, or discernment, as the practice of seeing clearly what a moment requires. Love does not always look soft from the outside. Sometimes love looks like firmness. Sometimes it looks like a boundary. Sometimes it looks like refusing to participate in a harmful pattern. This episode also moves into vairagya, or non-attachment, especially when we want someone else to change. We can love someone, hope for their healing, and model another way of being without attaching our peace to whether or not they are willing to evolve. And finally, we explore forgiveness, anger, grief, and upeksha, or equanimity. Forgiveness is not excusing what happened. It is not rushing past pain. It is not saying something was okay when it was not. Forgiveness is a process of telling the truth, feeling what is underneath the anger, and eventually releasing the hope that the past could have been different. This is deep spiritual work.It asks us to practice svadhyaya, or self-study, by looking honestly at our own reactions, triggers, wounds, patterns, and responsibilities. Even when someone else is wrong, our healing still belongs to us.If you are navigating a painful or complicated relationship, this episode is an invitation to return to your center, tell the truth, set the boundary, feel what is real, and reach for the highest branch of loving-kindness available to you.Not perfect love. Not forced forgiveness. Not self-abandonment.But the kind of love that keeps your heart open without letting harm continue. In This Episode, We ExploreWhy loving someone does not mean abandoning yourselfThe difference between spirituality and spiritual bypassingWhy pretending you are not hurt or angry can become a form of self-harmHow ahimsa, or non-harming, must include yourselfWhy boundaries can be an expression of loveHow love does not always look gentle from the outsideWhat viveka, or discernment, teaches us about taking right actionWhy we cannot force another person to changeHow vairagya, or non-attachment, helps us release our grip on someone else's evolutionWhy forgiveness should never be rushedHow anger can point us toward grief, hurt, shame, fear, or sadness underneathWhy forgiveness is not excusing harm or letting someone off the hookHow svadhyaya, or self-study, helps us see our wounds and triggers clearlyWhat it means to reach for the highest branch of loving-kindnessHow upeksha, or equanimity, helps us choose peace without denying painYoga Philosophy Concepts in This EpisodeAhimsaAhimsa means non-harming. In this episode, we explore why non-harming must include yourself. Staying in harmful patterns, denying your emotions, or pretending something is okay when it is not can become a form of self-harm.VivekaViveka means discernment or clear seeing. It is the ability to pause, return to your center, and see what the moment actually requires. Sometimes the loving response is softness. Sometimes it is truth. Sometimes it is a firm boundary.VairagyaVairagya means non-attachment. In difficult relationships, this can mean loving someone, hoping for their healing, and modeling another way without attaching your peace to whether or not they choose to change.SvadhyayaSvadhyaya means self-study. It is the practice of honestly observing your thoughts, reactions, wounds, patterns, and triggers so you can see where healing is needed and return to greater freedom.UpekshaUpeksha means equanimity. It is the ability to remain steady, grounded, and clear even in the presence of pain, complexity, or difficult emotions. Equanimity allows us to choose peace without denying what happened.Reflection Questions From This EpisodeWhere am I confusing love with self-abandonment?What emotions have I been pretending are not there? Is there a boundary I need to set in order to practice non-harming toward myself?Am I hoping someone else will change before I allow myself to feel peace? What am I still attached to that is keeping me on an emotional rollercoaster? What is underneath my anger? Is there grief, hurt, sadness, fear, or shame asking to be seen? What wound in me may have been touched by this relationship? What is my responsibility in my own healing? What is the highest branch of loving-kindness I can reach for right now? What would help me return to equanimity?Gentle Practice From This EpisodeThe next time you feel anger, resentment, or hurt rising in a difficult relationship, pause before reacting.Take a few slow breaths.Place one hand over your heart if that feels supportive. Then ask yourself:What am I really feeling beneath the anger? What boundary would protect my peace? What is mine to heal? What is not mine to carry? What would love look like here if love included me too?You do not have to force forgiveness. You do not have to pretend you are okay.Just begin with honesty. That is svadhyaya. That is self-study.That is the beginning of freedom.About Katie FarinasKatie Farinas is a midlife coach, yoga teacher, and spiritual guide who helps women navigate midlife with clarity, peace, purpose, and empowerment. How should Christians order their loves in a world that tells us every relationship and every responsibility deserves the same priority? In this episode of Take Heart, Cory Wing explores the historic Christian doctrine of ordo amoris—the right ordering of our loves. Beginning with wholehearted love for God, Scripture teaches that our responsibilities flow outward to our families, our churches, our neighbors, and ultimately to the nations. Rather than shrinking our compassion, rightly ordered love enables us to love others more faithfully, wisely, and biblically.Watch all of our videos and subscribe to our channel for the latest content >HereHere
