featured Wiki of the Day

fWotD Episode 2605: Capri-Sun Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of the featured Wikipedia article every day.The featured article for Saturday, 22 June 2024 is Capri-Sun.Capri-Sun (UK: , US: ) is a brand of juice concentrate–based drinks manufactured by the German company Wild and regional licensees. Rudolf Wild invented the drink in 1969 and introduced it in West Germany as Capri-Sonne (a name retired in favor of the English name in 2017). It is now sold in over 100 countries, with licensees including Kraft Foods in the United States (as Capri Sun) and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners in parts of Europe. It is one of the most popular juice brands in the world; as of 2023, roughly 6 billion pouches are sold per year globally.Since its launch, Capri-Sun has been packaged in laminated foil vacuum Doy-N-Pack pouches, with which the brand has become strongly associated. In the United States, these pouches predated the advent of Tetra Brik, in an era when fruit juice was usually sold in large containers. The pouch design has stayed largely the same, but changes in some markets have included transparent bottoms and paper straws, while other container types have been introduced for some products. Capri-Sun is available in varying ranges of flavors in different countries, targeting different national flavor profiles. Globally, its best-known flavor is Orange.Capri-Sun's main products are high in sugar content, although lower than many competitors. Characterizations of the juice drinks as "all-natural" have led to conflict in several countries between consumer advocates who highlight the high sugar content and low juice percentage and Capri-Sun and its licensees, who have generally maintained that the term correctly describes the ingredients. Disputes over sugar content and "all-natural" status have led to two lawsuits in the United States and the removal of the brand's main line from Tesco shelves in the United Kingdom. In France, Capri-Sun has figured prominently in rap songs and has been noted as a drink of choice in poor areas. Capri-Sun is often marketed to children, which has earned it a negative award from the consumer advocacy group Foodwatch. In the United States, Kraft and its former parent company, the tobacco conglomerate Philip Morris Cos. (now Altria), have successfully marketed Capri Sun using strategies developed for selling cigarettes to children. American parents often misidentify Capri Sun as healthy, and it is one of the most favorably rated brands among Generation Z Americans. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:57 UTC on Saturday, 22 June 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Capri-Sun on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Justin Neural.

News of growing revenues at Holiday Inn owner IHG failed to push the stock higher in the meantime though. Among FTSE 250-listed firms, Trainline soared after reporting a doubling in operating profit to £56 million for last year on strong growth across continental Europe. PGM market development has paid dividends, could pay many more, Platinum Day told

This audio is brought to you by Wearcheck, your condition monitoring specialist. The market development aspect of the platinum group metals (PGM) industry is fundamentally key, it was repeatedly stated at last week's 2024 Resources for Africa Platinum Day. There is strong consensus that PGMs are amazing metals that are incredibly useful as future green metals across a broad range of applications. The PGM elements platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium and osmium possess far-reaching physical and chemical characteristics that make them sought after by modern technology developers. "If I could turn back the clock, I would've probably recommended to the board a far stronger investment in market development. Every dollar we invest will have a fundamental return long-term," Implats CEO Nico Muller commented in conversation with chairperson Bernard Swanepoel at the event covered by Mining Weekly. "I'm encouraged that people are now starting to talk a lot about market development," Anglo American Platinum CEO Craig Miller commented in his conversation with Swanepoel. "We need to do market development on the full basket and not just platinum and palladium and ensure that it's PGMs that underpin clean hydrogen in the lowest cost-plus way," Sibanye-Stillwater CEO Neal Froneman stated in the opening address. "These are really important metals. They're really special in terms of what they do. In many applications across the world, they are essential for human existence," Northam Platinum CEO Paul Dunne highlighted. "It's important that we give huge focus to the PGMs industry, which 2023 numbers show is the largest employer that spends the most on community development and contributes 10% of total exports to South Africa," Minerals Council South Africa CEO Mzila Mthenjane pointed out. Meanwhile, as was reiterated at the event, platinum demand is returning to help solve the PGM basket problem, and a supply decline is effectively already happening. It is not anticipated that prices will necessarily go back to where the industry had previously experienced them owing to drivetrain electrification and additional supply potentially coming to the market through recycling. The widespread outlook is that because the industry is going through a structural change it should not rely too heavily on traditional price recovery and there is consensus that market development catch-up, particularly in the hydrogen space, must take place. Mentioned frequently as one of the pivotal market developers is PGM-promoting and South Africa-linked venture capital company AP Ventures, created together with the Public Investment Corporation of South Africa. AP Ventures has been recognised as the most active investor in hydrogen beginners globally by the Mind the Gap: Venture Funding of Hydrogen Start-ups report by H2UB and after visiting a Texas company in which AP Ventures is associated, Microsoft luminary Bill Gates had this to say: "The energy transition is happening faster than many people (including me!) dared hope." In March, AP Ventures announced its investment in the pre-seed investment round of UK-based direct air capture company Airhive, co-leading the round alongside Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. Airhive is developing a low-cost, energy-efficient and rapidly scalable technology to capture carbon from the atmosphere. This pre-seed round will support its technology development and the delivery of its second commercial pilot, which will be deployed later this year. Anglo American Platinum expects prolonged deficits in platinum, a surplus in palladium and a rhodium market to move back into balance in 2024. The original equipment manufacturer stocking, which took place during Covid, the microchip shortage and then the invasion of Ukraine, has been considerably destocked. "It's clear that the market has bottomed out in the last six months," said Muller. Fundamental deficits are being predicted along with a tightening market. "I'm not expecting price...

But felt like there was a real opportunity to kind of use my skill set to see how I could apply that internally to influence business strategy and business planning and be able to see some of that Insight impact within my own business, rather than be reliant on the customers as to whether they would kind of take that Insight on board.” (2:57)“For me, that was about how do we enable the business to be able to access that data and be able to service their questions themselves, in order to free up time in my team to do more of the deeper analysis.” (5:10)“It was a good opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, in that we were trying to inspire them with their vision of what an Insight-led organisation looks like, but then also talk to them about these new tools that we've got that could help them be more self-sufficient in answering their own questions.” (14:00)“My time is kind of split, probably in two ways. Whether that be about kind of helping prioritizes we've just discussed that the key projects coming in, making sure that we've got the right people assigned to the right pieces of work. That's more about the management. And then the second part is then more about the leadership. So I think that is where I will be looking at, the things that we've got in the pipeline from a transformation perspective.”“That's, in reflection, I think, of the value that we've added to the business, and they've been able to recognize that bringing more head count in will deliver better business results.” (24:02)“It's almost being brave to take that leap of faith and trust yourself to be able to make some of those changes.” (30:32)This is episode 46 of the Transforming Insight podcast.  If you have the ambition to transform your Insight team and the role it plays in your organisation, please tune in to future episodes.

Saying that this episode's guest holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon run dressed as a nut, doesn't even begin to do justice to the absurd number of ridiculously difficult physical challenges that former Major in the Royal Army Medical Core, Sally Orange, has undertaken in her on-going quest to raise awareness of mental health issues.  This is a woman who has run the hardest land race in the world, the brutal Marathon de Sables, and the Siberian Ice Race in Russia. Who has skied 250km across the Artic Circle, and done the Arch to Arc triathlon - running from Marble Arch, swimming across the Channel, then cycling to the Arc de Triumph in Paris. Who has led the first ever all female wounded, injured and sick team to complete the word's most challenging cycling event, the Race Across America, and is the only woman to have run seven marathons in seven continents in seven days. Awarded an MBE in the King's first Birthday Honours list this year for services to charity and mental health, Sally talks with powerful honesty about her own struggles with severe mental health problems and how her experiences, and her desire to help anybody else going through anything similar, have been the driving force behind all the astonishingly difficult challenges she has done and continues to do. Our guest today is Hasina Rahman, a young woman whose unwavering determination and courage led her to embark on a transformative martial arts journey starting when she was a teenager. Her story is a testament to the power of self-belief, resilience, and passion. Hasina founded Pink Diamond Martial Arts in 2015 in Luton. The idea had come to her while she was at home looking after her four-month-old baby and toddler. Being a fully certified personal trainer with expertise in three different martial arts disciplines, including karate, kick-boxing, and Muay Thai, she aspired to create a business that merged her passion for martial arts whilst also empowering women and girls to rediscover themselves physically and mentally. This led to her brainchild of establishing an exclusive women's combat club, and Pink Diamond Martial Arts opened its doors offering instruction in Muay Thai, mixed martial arts, and self-defense. Hasina serves as the head instructor at Pink Diamond Martial Arts, where she conducts  classes and manages day-to-day operations. Pink Diamond Martial Arts also runs self-defence workshops around the UK, teaching women life-saving techniques. Remarkably, she has also authored a children's book titled "Heroes: A Guide to Anti-Bullying." What was meant to be an exciting adventure for the bubbly 21 year old turned into a nightmare that no family should ever have to go through. On the eve of her 22nd birthday, Grace went on a date with a man she had met online in Auckland. During that date, he murdered her. He was charged on the 8thDecember 2018, but during the subsequent trial used a harrowing defence argument, the so-called ‘rough sex' defence. He was jailed for life.  Gillian Millane has since become an advocate for justice, raising awareness about the importance of respecting and protecting the rights and safety of individuals, especially when they're far from home. Today we are looking at plastic bottle Deposit Return Schemes and, in particular, a scheme due to be introduced in the UK in the next couple of years. The idea is to reduce the millions of plastic bottles a day that go un-recycled, by getting consumers to pay a little extra for a drink. They can then claim that extra payment back if they return the bottle for recycling. Deposit return schemes are nothing new, they have been around in various forms for decades. So, you might ask why it is taking the UK so long to get this off the ground. But what does the drinks industry make of the scheme? And will this really persuade consumers to change their recycling habits? Arguably, HR's historic reputation is that it is the least commercial of the corporate functions and the dichotomy is that most would agree that people make businesses successful. Our panel consists of some of the leading HR experts with a determination to make HR a function that truly drives company performance. We discuss the 'How' Talent strategies, Employee Experience, people analytics and data-driven HR, agile HR practices and more can add maximum value to the bottom line. Hein Knaapen – Managing Partner, Europe for CEO.works. Current interim CHRO at DSM and also sits on the supervisory board at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. YOUR HOST & FOUNDER OF HR RECRUITMENT SOLUTIONS – “Having graduated with a History degree, I was persuaded into a career in recruitment having been applying to graduate schemes. Whilst I failed in securing a role on a graduate scheme, I was lucky enough to be offered a chance to become a trainee Recruitment Consultant in 2008. In 2011, I started to work exclusively with the HR profession. I have since recruited HR professionals for business in numerous countries from entry–level to C-Suite from start-ups to blue-chip multinationals. I have a passion for the profession and how it helps businesses be successful and create great places to work. My curiosity and passion for HR was why I decided to set up Hosting HR to share ideas within the profession and to have a bit of fun doing it too. I recently moved to live by the sea in Devon, England with my wife, son and dog. I am a big football fan and support Newcastle United as well as playing regularly – if you look closely you might even see some Newcastle United paraphernalia in the background during the stream.” You can follow or connect with me on LinkedIn here - Leon Morley | LinkedIn HR RECRUITMENT SOLUTIONS - HR Recruitment Solutions

As workplaces are now taking the steps to shift back to versions of ‘business as usual', it is also a critical time and a golden opportunity for them to focus on the wellbeing and psychological safety of employees across their organisation. We see psychological safety in teams when members engage in learning behaviours, such as asking for help, seeking feedback, admitting errors, being open about lack of knowledge, trying something new or voicing work-related dissenting views, with the belief there will not be reprisal or retribution. On this special episode we wanted to share two fireside chats recorded at our Reimagine 2021 event last Friday. Our first chat is with Minda Harts, author of The Memo interviewed by Sue Eilfield, Vice President, People & Culture and Inclusion & Diversity at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. Sue interviews Minda on her work advancing racial and ethnic minority women at work and healing from racial trauma at work. Our second chat is with Jon Hicks ,Senior Counsel, Employment Law at Netflix Inc  and Mark McKenna Coles, EMEA Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Lead from Spotify who will share how to build psychological safety at work.
