Two young Syrian Druze girls got saved in Venezuela… Eventually more of the family got saved and made a connection with one of [our] ministers… I got to know them too although they lived far from Caracas - about 12 hours by bus. We are still in close contact and now a lot of the family has moved to Michigan. I called one friend yesterday and she told me about their family in Syria (including cousins who have been killed). In Venezuela, all our Arab friends were Druze from Lebanon and Syria and one of our missionaries [taught] English in the Druze village of Majdal Shams [in Israel’s Golan Heights], on the border of Syria and Lebanon. The Southeastern 16 crew previews the 2025 Auburn football season and gives predictions for what's ahead. Topics include: So much depends on Oklahoma transfer quarterback Jackson Arnold, a top-10 player in high school class whose 2024 season didn't live up to expectations on an OU offense gutted by injury. Will a revitalized Arnold hit his ceiling in Hugh Freeze's offense? He's helped by perhaps the best pass-catching duo the country in Cam Coleman and Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton, plus, the return of Malcom Simmons as a capable third wideout. The Tigers return some experience at running back in Damani Austin and Jeremiah Cobb. Auburn returns its middle-of-the-offensive-line starters in Dillon Wade, Connor Lew and Jeremiah Wright, plus talented tackle transfer Xavier Chaplin. Auburn's defense is led by end Keldric Faulk, a preseason All-SEC pick and a potential 2026 NFL first-rounder. The Tigers return Kayin Lee and Jay Crawford off good 2024 seasons, and added another eight transfers who could see time on the two-deep, including Liberty's Jay Hardy and Arkansas State's Keyron Crawford. Coach Hugh Freeze enters the season on the hot seat, and an interesting first-half of the schedule could have a lot to do with how things go for Freeze, who has his most talented Auburn team yet.

The remarkable saga of Tulsa's Greenwood District—known as "Black Wall Street"—stands as one of America's most compelling yet overlooked stories of entrepreneurial triumph, devastating racial violence, and extraordinary resilience. In this powerful episode, historian and author Hannibal Johnson reveals surprising truths that challenge common narratives about this iconic Black business district. While most accounts focus solely on the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, Johnson unveils the community's astonishing rebirth, explaining how Greenwood actually reached its entrepreneurial zenith in the 1940s—two decades after its destruction.Johnson takes us deep into Greenwood's economic ecosystem, where entrepreneurs like Simon Berry operated jitney services (early versions of Uber), bus lines, hotels, and even charter plane services for wealthy white oil executives. We learn how Oklahoma's unique history gave many Black citizens land allotments through tribal connections, creating economic foundations that fostered business development across the state. The discussion explores difficult truths about what caused the massacre—from land lust and Klan activity to inflammatory newspaper reporting and the jealousy of poor whites seeing successful Black entrepreneurs. Yet the most powerful revelation may be how the community responded to this devastation, with businesses rebuilding "even as the embers still smoked." The story of Mount Zion Baptist Church spending 30 years to repay its mortgage rather than declaring bankruptcy exemplifies the community's extraordinary integrity.Perhaps most thought-provoking is Johnson's analysis of how desegregation ironically contributed to the district's eventual economic decline by creating a one-way flow of Black dollars into white businesses without reciprocal white spending in Black establishments. This insight, combined with the devastating impact of urban renewal projects, offers crucial lessons about maintaining community wealth. For today's entrepreneurs facing their own challenges, Greenwood's legacy provides profound inspiration: "If your forebears 100 years ago did incredible things against odds you will never face, that should be inspirational." Discover how this history continues to inspire a new generation to build economic power with the same determination and excellence that defined Black Wall Street.Support the showhttps://www.patreon.com/c/EA_BookClub

Understanding the New Medicare Preauthorization Pilot: What Agents Need to KnowIf you're an insurance agent, advisor, or just someone who loves to stay on top of Medicare changes, episode 85 of the Insurance Business Babes podcast is a must-listen. Hosts Joanna Wyckoff and Kathe Kline dive deep into Medicare's new pilot program for prior authorizations on certain Part B services—sparking lots of questions (and a bit of anxiety) among agents and clients alike. Here's a summary and further commentary on what you need to know. What's Changing and Where? This new prior authorization program doesn't signal an immediate, nationwide overhaul; for now, it's a six-year pilot launching in 2026, affecting just six states: New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and Washington. Importantly, it targets only specific services, not everything under Part B. As Joanna reassured, “It's not a complete change across the board,” so there's no need to panic—yet".Which Services Are Included? There's a preliminary list of 17 service categories that will require prior authorization, including procedures like knee arthroscopy, spinal fusion, epidural steroid injections, implants for sleep apnea, and expensive wound care products. Many of these (like knee scopes and advanced wound care) have been flagged for possible overuse and abuse in the past.Kathe pointed out how this pilot likely aims to rein in unnecessary spending, similar to how the system already handles powered wheelchairs or certain prosthetics nationwide.Impacts for Agents and ClientsJoanna stressed the need for communication: If you have Med Supp clients in the affected states, you should proactively reach out to prepare them—before they hear from a competitor. It's crucial to clarify that Med Supp plans still can't require their own prior authorizations; the requirement comes from Medicare itself. For now, most “normal” Part B services won't require pre-auth, and providers demonstrating “clean requests” may even earn exemptions. AI programs will help process authorizations, but final decisions should still involve a human touch.Looking AheadThough limited for now, both hosts agreed agents should keep a close eye on this pilot. The landscape could shift significantly if results push Medicare to roll out prior authorizations nationwide. Stay informed, keep your clients prepared, and remember—clear, early communication keeps your relationships strong. This episode is sponsored by CertifiedMedicareAgents.com. Host Brad Fowler is excited to be joined by Adam Spencer, who covers all 16 SEC football teams for Saturday Down South. We kick things off with Adam's thoughts on the swirling rumor from SEC Media Days that Nick Saban may not be done coaching, and where the legendary coach could possibly return if he does make a comeback.Adam also weighs in on SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey's comments about the 12-team College Football Playoff format potentially staying — and whether the SEC is under pressure to perform and keep its influence intact. We dive into the debate surrounding the potential 9-game SEC schedule and whether a reported $50–80 million incentive from ESPN makes it a done deal. Then we shift to the field, breaking down big questions for 2025 contenders like Texas, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and Florida. Adam shares what could derail Texas despite their loaded roster, if Alabama's question marks are too much to overcome, and whether DJ Lagway could elevate the Gators back into relevance. Plus, Adam questions whether Arch Manning should really be the Heisman favorite heading into the season. We also discuss which under-the-radar teams in the SEC could crash the Playoff picture — and which programs might disappoint due to inflated preseason hype.Adam breaks down the crowded coaching hot seat across the SEC, from Florida's Billy Napier to Oklahoma's Brent Venables, and offers insight on which jobs could open up if things go south this fall.Don't miss this jam-packed SEC football preview with one of the sharpest voices in the conference!

Show Notes Thank you all for your patience and your kind words of sympathy. We're ready to talk about Gundam once again, and this week a question from a listener prompts us to look back at the whole Tomino Era of Gundam, and on that perfect note we end Season 10. Mobile Suit Breakdown is written, recorded, and produced within Lenapehoking, the ancestral and unceded homeland of the Lenape, or Delaware, people. Before European settlers forced them to move west, the Lenape lived in New York City, New Jersey, and portions of New York State, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Connecticut. Lenapehoking is still the homeland of the Lenape diaspora, which includes communities living in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Ontario. You can learn more about Lenapehoking, the Lenape people, and ongoing efforts to honor the relationship between the land and indigenous peoples by visiting the websites of the Delaware Tribe and the Manhattan-based Lenape Center. Listeners in the Americas and Oceania can learn more about the indigenous people of your area at https://native-land.ca/. Kandice never expected her quiet nights to turn into something out of a ghost story. At first, it was just pregnancy cravings and old sitcoms keeping her company—until the night a gray-haired man appeared at the back door and vanished without a sound. Years passed, but the strange moments didn't. Doors in her “new” Oklahoma home began opening and closing on their own, and the unmistakable scent of her late grandmother's perfume drifted through empty rooms.  If you have a real ghost story or supernatural event to report, please write into our show or call 1-855-853-4802!
