Part 2 of 3) On the morning of February 8, 1983, a plumber working in London's Muswell Hill neighbor opened a drainage cover behind a Cranley Gardens apartment building and made a horrific discovery—the drain was blocked by pieces of bone and human tissue. Upon investigation, detectives traced the blockage back to one apartment in the building, where additional evidence suggested things were far worse than they'd initially thought. When the occupant of the apartment, Dennis Nilsen, was confronted with the human remains, he began telling investigators a shocking story and when he was finished, Nilsen had confessed to murdering and dismembering at fifteen men over the course of five years. In the annals of British crime, Dennis Nilsen ranks among the worst serial killers the country has ever seen, not only because of the number of people he killed, but also the method of disposal and the motive. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we're back with Dr. Ari Brown - board-certified pediatrician and author of the bestselling 411 series - for The 411 on TODDLER DISCIPLINE. And just like last time, she comes in with the calm, practical answers we all need when our toddlers are… doing the most. We start with the big foundational question: what “discipline” actually means (spoiler: it's teaching NOT punishment) and when it realistically begins. Dr. Ari breaks down the cues that your toddler is ready to be “taught”, why pushback is developmentally normal, and how consistency matters way more than finding the “perfect” consequence. Then we get into the “IS IT NORMAL?!” greatest hits: biting, hitting, head-banging, and public tantrums - what's actually going on in their brains, what to do in the moment, and the #1 thing parents should avoid (even though it's everyone's instinct). We also talk self-regulation, why toddlers borrow our nervous systems, and the biggest mistake parents make when they start trying to “discipline” for the first time: expecting instant results. We also dig into the classic strategies people always debate - time-outs, spanking, and the “if you don't do X, we're taking away Y” approach - and Dr. Ari explains what works, what doesn't, and why consequences need to be logical to actually teach anything. PLUS: how behavior can shift with a new sibling (who do you think wrote this question in?!??!), how to avoid the good cop/bad cop dynamic, and rapid-fire audience Qs on meal refusal, toddler resistance (“no” to everything), teaching safety without fear, and why kids go through parent-preference phases. Portland filmmaker Jan Haaken has a new short documentary called “SUMUD: A doctor’s report on genocide and survival in Gaza.” “Sumud” in Arabic means “steadfast perseverance.” The film follows Oregon Health and Science University anesthesiologist Travis Melin as he provided volunteer medical care in Gaza in August of 2025. We’re joined by Haaken and Melin who share more about making the documentary -- and what effect they hope the stories in the film will have.
Politics shouldn't be cosplay—especially when safety, budgets, and hospital doors are on the line. We open with quick Super Bowl takes, then head straight into a hard look at three New Mexico flashpoints: SB17's magazine caps and “assault weapon” restrictions, SB18's climate push with major fiscal fallout, and HB99's malpractice reform that could decide whether you can even get a doctor. We share first‑hand stories of self‑defense, explain why broad gun bans punish lawful owners while leaving violent offenders untouched, and outline a smarter path: tougher, certain penalties for crimes with guns and enforcement that actually deters repeat violence.Energy comes next. We parse the legislature's own fiscal notes and examine what happened in Germany and the UK when policy outpaced reality: higher prices, weakened grids, and industry strain. With AI and data centers driving a surge in power demand, shrinking local generation risks competitiveness, jobs, and the very revenue that funds schools, child care, and Medicaid. If the goal is a cooler planet, policy should be measured by impact, not intent—and state‑level gestures that raise costs without moving the climate needle deserve a second look.Healthcare is the tipping point. HB99 aims to fix a broken malpractice ecosystem that has pushed physicians and specialists out of New Mexico, shut primary care panels, and put rural hospitals at risk. We give credit for a course correction, but warn that trial‑lawyer pressure could water the bill down to nothing, forcing a special session as patients wait months or years for care. Add in the national debate over the SAVE Act and voter ID—where overwhelming majorities across parties back showing ID—and you see a pattern: people want basic competence and fairness, not culture‑war theater. We also highlight an Oregon investigative thread on alleged cartel‑level violence tied to Medicaid fraud, and challenge the media's selective coverage that leaves communities misinformed. We wrap with a nod to the Olympics and Lindsay Vonn's grit, a reminder that real courage aims at real outcomes. If you value safer streets, affordable energy, timely care, and elections people trust, this one's for you. Downtowns don't come back by accident. They come back because someone decides they should, and then acts on it. In this episode, Luke Henry shares how he helped catalyze downtown redevelopment in Marion, Ohio. It involves real financial risk, building an ecosystem of local businesses, and staying committed when the work got hard. It's a real, honest look into the challenges and joys of community-led revitalization, because, like many things, it's hard but worth it. About Luke: Luke Henry grew up in Mount Gilead, Ohio and transplanted to Marion with his wife Lindsey in 2006 while completing his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Ohio Northern University. His entrepreneurial journey started with mowing lawns in Junior High to make money for his first car, then to pay his way through Pharmacy School. While in college, he bought his first rental property in Ada, Ohio at the age of 19. From there, his passions have grown for both small business and real estate, building ProScape Lawn & Landscape Services over the last 25 years to nearly 100 employees and locations in Marion and Columbus, while also buying and rehabbing single family homes and small multi-family, before shifting focus in 2018 to his passionate work in downtown Marion. Since 2018, starting with the purchase of 8 buildings on a block of South Main Street that was 80% vacant at the time, he and his team at Henry Development Group have developed 20 historic buildings into a variety of mixed-uses, including restaurants, boutiques, entertainment and event venues, loft apartments, Airbnbs, and more. Luke is deeply involved in the community philanthropically as well, having supported and served as a board member for numerous nonprofit organizations. Luke and his wife Lindsey live near Waldo with their two children, Emerson and Olivia. In this episode, we cover: Why downtown redevelopment is about ecosystems, not single buildings What it really costs—financially and emotionally—to take on vacant properties How to keep moving when skeptics and naysayers show up Why local lenders and relationships can make or break projects How small, risky first steps can spark long-term community momentum Links + Resources Mentioned: Main Street Reimagined Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/main-street-reimagined-podcast/id1756754601 Henry Development Group: www.henrydevelopmentgroup.com Luke Henry Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/luke.henry.148/ Luke Henry LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/luhenry/ HDG Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/henrydevelopmentgroup HDG LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/henry-development-group-llc/ Want to get your business in front of our audience? Sergio Alfaro, Army Medic and GWOT veteran, in Episode 234 of the Transition Drill Podcast, his experience highlights the importance of preparing for the mental and emotional side of transition, not just the next job or degree, and building support systems early instead of relying on a single post-service plan. Ultimately, his path reinforces that successful transition preparation requires adaptability, self-awareness, and permission to redefine success when the original mission no longer fits.Sergio talks about Iraq, PTSD, and the long road from wanting to become a doctor to rebuilding a life that actually works. If you're a veteran or first responder trying to figure out who you are after the job, this one's for you.Sergio was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Maywood and Burbank, seeing two very different worlds early on. He joined the Army with a long-term plans of becoming a doctor. In the Army, he became a medic, trained and deployed to Iraq in 2003–2004, based in Hamadi, west of Fallujah. He describes the reality of frequent mortar attacks, watching for IED threats, and the kind of moments that never really leave you. He also shares the loss of his commanding officer overseas, and how survivor's guilt and “why him, not me” thinking followed him home. After one enlistment, that turned into four and a half years because of stop-loss, Sergio struggled with trauma, but was hopeful of getting the option for the Army to send him to college to be a doctor. He wanted to keep serving and also go to school, but he ran into the “ask command” reality of the system, and it changed his outlook on staying in. He got out, determined to chase the goal on his own terms. That drive carries him all the way to acceptance at Harvard Medical School, with the GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon support helping make it possible. But also dealing with PTSD, a medical culture not built for that, and a training path that puts him in a VA inpatient psych ward rotation at the worst possible time. Things spiral, and he shares what it's like when your identity is tied to one mission and you feel it slipping away. The second half of this conversation is about what actually helped: support systems, weekly check-ins, and eventually getting connected with Wounded Warrior Project's Warriors to Work, job fairs, resume feedback, and a shift toward a new career path built around what he always loved most, training and teaching others.CONNECT WITH THE PODCAST:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paulpantani/WEBSITE: https://www.transitiondrillpodcast.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paulpantani/SIGN-UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER:https://transitiondrillpodcast.com/home#aboutQUESTIONS OR COMMENTS:paul@transitiondrillpodcast.comSPONSORS:GRND CollectiveGet 15% off your purchaseLink: https://thegrndcollective.com/Promo Code: TRANSITION15Blue Line RoastingGet 10% off your purchaseLink: https://bluelineroasting.comPromocode: Transition10Frontline OpticsGet 10% off your purchaseLink: https://frontlineoptics.comPromocode: Transition10
What if the most powerful tool to delay dementia isn't a drug, a supplement, or even your diet… but a language? In this episode of The Gut Check Project, board-certified gastroenterologist Dr. Ken Brown is joined by a special guest co-host—his son Lucas Brown, a Division I athlete and aerospace engineering student—for a fascinating deep dive into one of the most overlooked brain-health strategies we have.Together, they unpack the surprising neuroscience behind bilingualism and multilingualism—and why learning (and using) another language can delay the symptoms of dementia by 4–5 years. Not prevent it.Delay it.And those extra years? They're years of driving, independence, conversations, memories, and time with the people you love.In this episode, you'll discover:Why speaking two languages can help your brain function longer—even when dementia pathology is already presentThe concept of “cognitive reserve” and how multilingual brains literally reroute around damageThe critical 13–30 age window for laying down powerful neural networks—and why it's never too late to startWhy effort matters more than fluency (yes, even “bad” French or Spanish counts)How adding a third language may provide even greater protectionWhy language learning outperforms brain games, puzzles, and passive mental exercisesDr. Brown explains the “linguistic paradox of dementia”—how two people can have nearly identical brain scans, yet one is living independently while the other requires full-time care… simply because one speaks multiple languages. This isn't about perfection. It's about mental agility. It's about keeping the brain flexible. And it's about stacking the odds in your favor—starting today. If you care about your long-term brain health, your independence, or your future self…this may be one of the most important episodes you'll ever listen to.
Only 9% of workplaces say they're fully staffed in a recent Robert Half survey. Is that because of AI? And when your doctor uses chat GPT (and he does), what does that mean for the future of medicine? Also, more young people are having heart attacks. Here are the warning signs.
Some stories don't announce themselves as paranormal at first. They unfold quietly, years before anyone realizes something was wrong. This account begins at birth, when a child enters the world without a pulse—declared dead, until he suddenly isn't. It's Gallifrey One time! While the Canadian contingent in Los Angeles this year was low (including both Warren and Chris, who like many Canadians chose not to frequent the environs of our troubled neighbours), Steven represented both the Embassy of Radio Free Skaro, and the nation of Canada (the latter unofficially). Erika from Verity! and Chip from 2MTL join Steven in recapping this weekend's convention, including talks of panels, and going inside with the many main stage interviews that Steven performed. https://m.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?sid=tindogpodcast&_pgn=1&isRefine=true&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l49496 This title was released in January 2026. It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until 31 March 2026, and on general sale after this date. The Doctor and Yaz have been sent a list of coordinates, each one pointing to a location in time and space where people are disappearing - but why? The trail leads to a war-torn world, where conscripted humans battle the terrifying Banshee. Can the Doctor end this conflict before she loses her best friend? Please note: the collector's edition CDs have now sold out. Recorded on: 25 and 27 June 2025 Recorded at: Fitzrovia Post Writer Rochana Patel said: "The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures really are incredibly special. This TARDIS team still feel fresh from their TV adventures, which means we can do modern and relevant storytelling, in a way that wouldn't sit quite right in other ranges. "As such, I threw absolutely everything I could into Ride or Die, to make it feel like a hard-edged, contemporary, science-fiction drama. There's no cosiness or nostalgia here, and as a result, this one certainly isn't your average episode! Plus, in the background, there's an even bigger story arc starting to unfold..." Mandip Gill said: "Yaz meets an old friend, Megan, and there's history there. Megan had a crush on Yaz which Yaz wasn't sure about. So, when Megan brings it up, it makes her think about what it is that she feels about the Doctor. She's stopped in her tracks by somebody from back home reminding her that this might not go on forever, and that she needs to stay in touch with reality." Jodie Whittaker added: "I thought this was an amazing story. It feels very timely. The discussion of profits of war and violence is a very important theme at the moment. What's fascinating about the Doctor is that they never give up hope, they're always there to guide humans to make the right choices. And I really love that about the Thirteenth Doctor, particularly how she always has so much energy even when she's hitting herself against a wall continually!" This episode is the relationship therapy session nobody asked for but everybody needs. We kick things off with a feel-good (and slightly awkward) conversation about gratitude in relationships — how saying “thank you” for doing the dishes somehow feels hotter than candlelight and roses, and why couples forget appreciation faster than they forget Netflix passwords. Then we pivot to the most important scientific debate of our time: the most dateable professions. Doctors? Firefighters? Baristas who remember your order AND your trauma? We break down the fantasy vs reality of dating different careers and why some jobs sound sexy until you realize their schedule is chaos and they haven't slept since 2017.Of course, it wouldn't be February without talking about the cultural phenomenon that is the Super Bowl — a holiday where football fans, commercial critics, snack enthusiasts, and people who just show up for the halftime show all unite in one living room. With the 2026 halftime show headlined by Bad Bunny, the hype is massive, the opinions are loud, and the internet is debating everything from music to culture to the existence of rival “All-American” halftime streams. So what does Super Bowl Sunday actually look like for different people? Hardcore fans, casual watchers, people who only care about commercials, and the friend who loudly says “I'm just here for the vibes” while eating 70 wings.

Flat feet are not genetic! Flat feet correction and prevention are simpler than you think. Discover the one exercise to fix flat feet and restore your foot's arch naturally, along with some easy flat foot exercises to strengthen the arches of your feet. 0:00 Introduction: Exercises for flat feet 0:27 Foot arch function1:38 The best flat feet fix 2:27 More exercises for flat feet 3:26 Flat foot prevention in children4:04 Vitamin D, K2, magnesium, and flat feetIn this video, I'm going to show you the best flat foot fix that you can do at home. You're born with flat feet and develop an arch when you're around 6 to 10 years old. Some people develop a fallen arch as they age because they don't exercise the muscles that strengthen the arches of the feet. The purpose of your foot's arch is to provide it with free energy. It acts as a preloaded spring when you walk, climb, or run. You can still walk if you've lost your arch, but other muscles will be recruited. The quads and PSOAS muscles will compensate for flat feet, and the hamstrings, glutes, and lower back will be underused and become weaker. Sprinting is the best exercise for flat feet, helping restore the foot arch naturally. Even if sprinting is difficult initially, you can improve within 6 to 8 weeks. Jogging is one of the worst exercises for flat feet! Strengthen the arches of the feet with these exercises and build up to sprinting:• A skipping• B skipping• High knees• Butt kicks When sprinting, sprint at 60% intensity, doing 2 to 3 sprints for 15 seconds each. To prevent flat feet in children, allow them to play in the grass or a safe environment without shoes to strengthen the arches of their feet. Look for shoes with thinner soles; barefoot shoes are best. Also, ensure there's enough space for the toes to move. This improves posture by strengthening the glutes and taking pressure off the lower back. Low vitamin D, K2, and magnesium early in life can contribute to flat feet. In this episode, I spoke to a grandmother raising her 8-year-old PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance / Pervasive Drive for Autonomy) Autistic grandson who she had been homeschooling for a year-and-a-half after school trauma in first grade. We discussed:- Helping her grandson attend an in-person appointment with the pediatrician, so he could get a refill of his medication.- The different approaches she could take to decide her actions in this tough situation.- The fear of losing trust and the progress they have made by forcing him to the doctor's office.- Experimenting with ideas for how to prepare her grandson for the doctor's visit with an indirect mode of communications, and how to leverage his special interest of elevators to support him accessing medical care.We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. It's from our live show "Parenting PDA Your Way" that I host on our social media at 1pm ET on Fridays.Warmly,CaseyPS - The grandma in this episode mentions our Paradigm Shift Program. On the morning of February 8, 1983, a plumber working in London's Muswell Hill neighbor opened a drainage cover behind a Cranley Gardens apartment building and made a horrific discovery—the drain was blocked by pieces of bone and human tissue. Is your magnesium not working, even though you're taking it daily? Discover why magnesium is not working, how to choose the best type of magnesium, improve magnesium absorption, and avoid common magnesium supplement mistakes in this video. If you're taking magnesium for sleep and other benefits, yet you're still dealing with insomnia, fatigue, high blood pressure, heart palpitations, leg cramps, anxiety, and more, this is for you. Magnesium is one of the most important minerals in the body. It's involved in over 300 biochemical reactions and is vital for the following: • Heart rhythm• Healthy blood pressure levels• Sleep • Energy• Insulin • Nerve function • Mitochondrial functionHere are 8 common mistakes people make with magnesium, which could be the reason why your magnesium supplements are not working! 1. Thinking magnesium works by itself Magnesium and vitamin D are codependent. You need 4,000 to 10,000 IUs of vitamin D for magnesium to work properly in the body. If you don't have enough vitamin B6, potassium, or sodium, it may seem that your magnesium is not working. 2. Ignoring cell membrane damageMany people have damaged cell membranes due to the consumption of seed oils. You need healthy cell membranes for magnesium absorption. 3. Stress Stress shuts down digestion, lowers immunity, decreases blood flow to certain organs, and increases the demand for magnesium. Caffeine can also deplete magnesium.4. Taking the wrong type of magnesium Magnesium oxide is the most common form of magnesium in supplements, but it's the worst! Magnesium glycinate is a much better option and is the most absorbable. 5. Blocking magnesium absorption without knowingToo much calcium can block the absorption of magnesium. Zinc, fluoride, and aluminum can inhibit its function. Low stomach acid, antacids, and acid blockers can also interfere with magnesium absorption. 6. Misunderstanding RDAsRDAs do not represent a therapeutic dose. If you're trying to correct a magnesium deficiency, you need significantly more magnesium than the RDA. If you want to increase your magnesium intake, spread your doses throughout the day, as you can only absorb around 300 to 400 mg at once.7. Unrealistic expectations Vitamins and minerals do not work like drugs. It can sometimes take a while to restore healthy biochemistry in the body. 8. Missing the insulin connection Insulin resistance can block magnesium absorption, and consequently, a magnesium deficiency can increase your risk of insulin resistance. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Hospitals in Gaza have been destroyed, medical supplies blocked, and doctors killed or detained—leaving children amputated without anesthesia, patients dying from infections, and families facing starvation and freezing conditions. Dr. Karameh Kuemmerle, Dr. Nidal Jboor, and Dr. Maysa Hawwash, founders of Doctors Against Genocide, explain what's happening inside Gaza and the West Bank, why silence from governments and medical institutions is enabling mass death, and how doctors are organizing globally to end genocide.Host: Marc SteinerAudio Post-Production: Stephen FrankBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-real-news-podcast--2952221/support.Help us continue producing radically independent news and in-depth analysis by following us and becoming a monthly sustainer.Follow us on:Bluesky: @therealnews.comFacebook: The Real News NetworkTwitter: @TheRealNewsYouTube: @therealnewsInstagram: @therealnewsnetworkBecome a member and join the Supporters Club for The Real News Podcast today!
Progesterone is essential for sustaining pregnancy, yet it's often overlooked or dismissed in conventional care. In this episode, I explain why many doctors don't routinely test or support progesterone, how medical training influences fertility care, and what red flags to watch for. We talk about self-advocacy, aligning with providers who share your values, and why low progesterone is usually a sign of a deeper root issue. I also share how faith, wisdom, and science work together in healing the cycle and supporting pregnancy. Episode Highlights: Why progesterone is rarely tested early on How doctors are trained (and what they aren't taught) When to advocate, educate, or find a new provider Why progesterone support often needs to happen before pregnancy How faith, wisdom, and science work together in fertility care Resources & Links: ✨ Join our Facebook community where you'll meet other Christian women who are praying over and encouraging one another. Send us a textEver been told to “suck it up” after a call that split your world in two? We challenge that script with a grounded, respectful look at how first responders can access care that actually helps. Steve sits down with licensed clinician and podcaster Susan Roggendorf for a candid, unfiltered conversation about culture, stigma, and practical support for police, fire, EMS, dispatch, ER, ICU, NICU, and corrections. We unpack why the tired question “What's the worst thing you've seen?” is not only unhelpful but harmful—and what clinicians should ask instead. Susan shares her background serving LGBTQ clients and first responders, detailing how role-specific stressors shape symptoms: from dispatchers carrying incomplete stories and auditory flashbacks, to EMS haunted by pediatric calls, to ER staff absorbing wave after wave of crisis without pause. Together, we outline a trauma-informed approach that centers consent, pacing, and control, building skills that fit real shifts: brief grounding, tactical breathing, movement that discharges stress, and cognitive resets you can use between calls. This episode also draws a clear map of the first responder circle without watering it down. We talk moral injury, hypervigilance, sleep disruption, and why peer support must be more than a checkbox. You'll hear podcasting war stories, yes, but also a deeper point: humility and repair are part of resilience, whether in a studio or on a scene. If you've ever sat through a therapy session that felt like a TV script, this is your reset. Expect real language, straight answers, and tools you can put to work immediately. To reach Susan, please go to https://psychhub.com/us/provider/susan-roggendorf/1316326036Support the showYouTube Channel For The Podcast

This week on Hysteria 51, we're serving up a double feature where nature chooses violence… and humanity chooses unhinged.First: Janesville, Wisconsin is apparently living inside a Thanksgiving-themed action movie. A flock of wild turkeys has been chasing people, hassling a postal worker, blocking traffic, and generally running the neighborhood like feathery little HOA enforcers with anger issues. One local even caught the chaos on camera. If you've ever wondered what it's like to be offering peace and goodwill to all… while a bird the size of a small child sprints at you with murder in its eyes, welcome home. Then we pivot from “street menace” to “please evacuate the entire building”: a man showed up at a hospital with a World War I artillery shell lodged in his rectum, prompting a hospital evacuation and a bomb squad response because, yes, it was reported as potentially live. Doctors had to remove it surgically, and everyone involved probably aged ten years in one evening. It's the kind of headline that makes you whisper, “how” and then immediately decide you don't actually want the answer. So buckle up for an episode packed with weird news, small-town terror turkeys, and ER chaos so intense it came with its own security perimeter. If you like your comedy dark, your science nonexistent, and your survival instincts activated by poultry… this one's for you.Links & Resources
Yip! Yap! Bite! A woman's little, nasty, needy dogs are anything but "comfort animals" and her girlfriend isn't having it. She refuses to move in with the caller while those tiny beasts are around. Are they fundamentally incompatible? A British woman learned that her husband had sexual experiences with other boys at his British boarding school. She never knew this and finds it shocking. Dan brings on the sexiest survivor of boarding schools that we know- porn star John Thomas. Let John's amazing voice take you on a journey examining situational homosexuality at British boarding schools. And on the Magnum, a man with blood cancer has an enlarged spleen. He's worried that anal sex might cause him harm. Dan brings on anal surgeon Dr. Evan Goldstein to talk about risks, and how sex toys can rearrange your guts...safely. And a woman who is learning about gay intimacy for the first time through "Heated Rivalry" wonders if homo sex goes as fast as it does on the tee-vee.
