TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast! On this February 26th episode, your Bible reading coach Hunter invites you to join in on day 57 of our year-long journey through the Scriptures. Today, we'll explore the detailed laws of purification from the book of Numbers, witness moments of deep need and miraculous intervention in Mark's Gospel, and find comfort in the heartfelt cries and praises of Psalm 28. In today's readings, we encounter people reaching out for healing—both the well-known and the unnamed—reminding us that Jesus' hands of compassion are extended to each of us. Hunter offers spiritual reflections, guiding us to warm our hearts by the fires of God's love, and leads us in thoughtful prayer to carry us into the day. Whether you're new or returning, this episode is not just about checking off a reading plan—it's about meeting the God who is with us, finding hope, encouragement, and the reassurance that you are loved. Settle in, and let's go on this journey together! TODAY'S DEVOTION: A man named Jairus, a synagogue ruler, falls on his knees before Jesus and begs him: Please come, put your hands on my girl. She's 12 years old, so that she will be healed and live. Mark tells us of another person who's reaching out her hands. He doesn't give us her name. This unnamed woman has been waiting, bleeding, for 12 long years. Everything she has is gone. Every possible option has been exhausted, and she's dying too. She needs Jesus to reach out his hands and touch her. Jesus responds to both of them—the prominent man Jairus and the unnamed woman. He's there for them both. He's there to do what he set out to do: to reach out his hands of compassion and stop the bleeding, to stop death. And he's going to do it by pouring out his own blood and offering up his own life so that all people everywhere, the somebodies and the nobodies, will know his redeeming love. He sees you today. He's reaching out his hands to you today in love. He's coming into your home. He's taking you by the hand, and he's speaking words of life: Talitha koum. Little girl, rise up. That is the gospel. That's the heart of our God. This is the message that we are so privileged to take to the world today. Hear his word to you. He's come to stop the bleeding. He's come to stop death. He's come to call you to life. And the prayer of my own heart today, for my own soul, is that I will hear him well. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Cinco de Luncho, sparked by the news that CC Sabathia's No. 52 is headed for Monument Park. The guys draft the next five New York athletes most likely to have their numbers retired, sparking debates across all four major sports. On the list: Carmelo Anthony's complicated Knicks legacy, Chris Kreider's Rangers records and playoff heroics, Jacob deGrom's emotional Mets case despite finishing elsewhere, and the glaring omission of Darrelle Revis — arguably the greatest Jet ever — whose No. 24 still isn't retired. Callers weigh in on whether team success should matter, how fan emotion shapes these decisions, and why some franchises move faster than others. The conversation expands into what makes a number-retirement truly meaningful, how rivalries and late-career moves affect legacies, and whether teams sometimes wait for the “right moment” to celebrate former stars. It's a passionate, cross-town debate to close the hour, mixing nostalgia, hot takes, and a little disbelief at who's still waiting for the call.

Asking why is a waste of energy and time, and usually doesn't yield satisfactory answers. "We seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them." Twelve spies enter the Promised Land and return with stunning evidence of its abundance. But ten see only giants and fortified cities, and their faithless report spreads like wildfire through the camp. Only Joshua and Caleb trust God's promise. In this chapter, we encounter the pivotal moment that condemned a generation to die in the wilderness. The question it poses remains: Will we trust God's Word or our own fearful assessment?  The Rev. Brandon Metcalf, associate pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, IL, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Numbers 13.  To learn more about Zion Lutheran, visit zionbethalto.org. The Book of Numbers is far more than an ancient census report. It is the story of a people learning to trust God in the wilderness, and failing, and finding grace anyway.  In this series, host Pastor Phil Booe and guest pastors walk through the Old Testament book of Numbers chapter by chapter. We follow Israel from Sinai toward the Promised Land, through grumbling and rebellion, fiery serpents and a talking donkey, faithless spies and faithful priests. The journey is hard, the failures are many, and God remains faithful to a faithless people.  These ancient accounts point us to Christ. The bronze serpent lifted on a pole points to the cross. The rock struck for water points to the one struck for us. The high priest whose death frees the manslayer points to the Great High Priest whose death sets us free forever. Join us as we discover that the wilderness has more to teach us than we ever expected.  Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 26th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Numbers 11:16: “So the Lord said to Moses: “Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them;…” Then we go straight to the Gospel of Mark 6:7: “And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two,…” Moses realised he just could not cope anymore. He was directing a whole nation of people in the wilderness and he had no help. He was doing it on his own, and the people were getting restless and complaining, “We need meat to eat. In Egypt, we had meat and fish and melons and all those things, and now we have nothing.” Moses was beside himself. You can read it in Numbers, just a few verses before. He said, “Rather kill me. I can't do this anymore.” And God said to him, “Call seventy men, good men, leaders, and I will anoint them, and they will help you to take the nation of Israel through the wilderness and into the promised land. Then we see Jesus, when he was sending the disciples out to preach the Gospel and heal the sick and set the captives free, he sent them out two by two, not one at a time, two by two. There are no lone-rangers in the Kingdom of God, no one-man shows. Why did He send them out two by two? I will tell you why - so that they could protect one another and there was accountability so the devil could not tempt them. I want to say to you, I will not go anywhere to preach the Gospel on my own. We go in a group. You know that if you know me. Why is that? So that we can watch over one another, help one another, pray with one another, protect one another. It's how God made us.I remember speaking to a young man. I love him dearly. He is a great preacher. He was on his way to Ethiopia, just for the weekend to speak at a conference. I said, “Who is going with you?” “No, no”, he said, “It is a short trip. I am going on my own.” And I had to speak to him firmly, and I trust that he has listened. I said, “Don't do that.” Do not go anywhere on your own when you are doing God's work. You need to go two by two so that you can look after each other. Not only preachers, I am talking to ladies here as well as young people. When you go out, you do not go on your own. God never created us to do that. We go together and in that is the comfort and the love and the peace of God.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

There are six numbers you need to know before buying a rental property. We run these numbers before we buy any investment, and knowing all six gives you the highest chance of making money instead of purchasing a headache.  We'll give you the full list of the six most crucial real estate numbers and how to calculate them so you get the highest return possible. Most new investors skip over most of these, and it costs them—big time. But calculating these in advance lets you know whether you're buying at the right price, how much you can later sell your property for, if your rents will be high enough for you to cash flow, and whether the deal is even worth holding on to. Plus, we'll throw in a bonus metric you can easily calculate that quickly shows you whether a rental property, fix-and-flip, BRRRR (buy, rehab, rent, refinance, repeat), or any other deal is actually worth the effort you're going to put in.  In short, if you know these six numbers, you can confidently make a move on that first or next investment property.  In This Episode We Cover Do NOT trust the list price! How to tell if the property you're buying is overpriced, underpriced, or just right  The one thing every real estate deal must have for Henry to buy it (it's not cash flow) How to price rent (the right way) and ensure you're going to cash flow  The single most overlooked expense that can ruin almost any real estate deal  Stop trusting "cash flow." This metric works much better at calculating returns  And So Much More! This week on The Business of Watches, we go behind the scenes with the man who compiles and crunches the numbers for the Morgan Stanley Swiss Watcher report, the most influential and widely read annual financial league table on the industry. Oliver Müller has been around the sector for some three decades, beginning his career at Omega before executive roles at a series of brands, including Laurent Ferrier, where he served as Chief Executive Officer. He's now a consultant to the industry and has helped shape brand strategy and positioning for the likes of Akrivia and Rexhep Rexhepi, among others.  Müller's most high-profile gig these days is compiling the estimates of Swiss brand revenue and volumes for the Morgan Stanley report. It's the top league table for the sector, and he tells us how he calculates and decides on the estimates that get published. Not everyone is a fan. Swatch Group has long criticized the report, now in its 9th edition, and Müller tells us why he believes Swatch and its leadership don't always appreciate the numbers. But first, Hodinkee founder Ben Clymer drops in for his Business of Watches debut. Ben tells us about his recent trip to Geneva and what he's hearing from some of the big brand executives. So, grab your Bible, settle in, and let's dive into today's readings and reflections, trusting that God will meet us right where we are. TODAY'S DEVOTION: A farmer went out to sow his seed. That might sound like a modern idea—broadcasting—but it's much older than radio or television. Broadcasting originally described scattering seeds wide and far, casting them broadly upon the earth. In much the same way, Jesus describes the message of God's kingdom: it is broadcast, sent out to as many as will hear. But as we see in today's reading, it is not enough merely to receive the seed. There must be a certain kind of readiness—a heart that is prepared, the right disposition of spirit—to take in this life-giving message. Jesus says we must have ears to hear, because the world is filled with static, with distractions, with spiritual enemies and inner desires that threaten to drown out the voice of God. Each of us faces barriers—whether it's the cares of life, the lure of wealth, or just the stubbornness of our hearts. There is an old proverb: when the student is ready, the teacher will arrive. Jesus is telling us much the same: that there must be readiness of heart to receive, understand, and respond to his words. But those open ears and receptive hearts aren't the result of our own goodness, of our piety or our accomplishments. Far more often, they're the fruit of our brokenness and failure. It's the humble, contrite, broken heart that finds itself finally ready to hear—and respond to—the broadcasted message of God. There is something about being broken that tunes our ears and softens our hearts so that we finally understand God's invitation. If you hear his voice today, that voice whispering, "I am with you," do not harden your heart. Respond. Let him heal. Let him mend. Let him sit with you right where you are, in this very moment. That is my prayer for my own soul, and for my family—for my wife and daughters and son. And it is my prayer for you. Diet and Your Heart: Can What You Eat Improve Your Numbers?

    Health Matters

How much can what you eat really influence your heart health — and how quickly can you improve your blood pressure or cholesterol through diet? In this episode of Health Matters, host Courtney Allison sits down with cardiologist Dr. Sean Mendez of NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital to break down the real connection between food and cardiovascular wellbeing. They explore what your health numbers mean — from blood pressure ranges to LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, and the emerging marker ApoB — and how these values signal current or future risk. Dr. Mendez explains how dietary shifts can lower LDL cholesterol by 3 to 15 percent and reduce blood pressure by several points, even without medication. He also discusses salt sensitivity, the impact of saturated fats and processed foods, and why soluble fiber, healthy fats, and whole foods can play a powerful role in improving cholesterol. The conversation dives into the DASH diet and the Mediterranean diet, outlining how each works, what they emphasize, and the evidence behind their ability to reduce blood pressure and overall cardiovascular risk. Dr. Mendez offers practical tips for getting started and key lifestyle factors that are essential for heart health.  Whether you're hoping to lower your numbers, prevent future heart issues, or simply make more informed choices at the grocery store, this episode provides clear, accessible guidance on building a heart‑healthy way of eating. Chapters: 01:13 – What Do Heart Health Numbers Mean? 04:33 – How Quickly Diet Changes Improve Labs 10:59 – How to Start Changing Eating Habits Key Topics Covered What cholesterol, blood pressure, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and ApoB measure How these numbers relate to cardiovascular disease risk Healthy ranges for blood pressure and cholesterol How diet can lower LDL cholesterol and blood pressure How quickly lab results change after modifying eating habits The role of salt sensitivity and saturated fats in heart health Foods that help lower LDL, including soluble fiber and healthy fats The DASH diet: its structure, purpose, and evidence for lowering blood pressure The Mediterranean diet: core foods, flexibility, and cardiovascular benefits Differences between DASH and Mediterranean diets Practical starting points for improving eating habits Benefits of tracking food intake and identifying patterns Easy, heart‑healthy food and snack swaps Why lifestyle factors like sleep, stress, exercise, and limiting alcohol matter Common misconceptions about eating for heart health Why heart‑healthy eating is beneficial at every age Takeaway Message Small, consistent changes to your diet and lifestyle can meaningfully improve your heart health — at any age. Understanding your numbers (like LDL, blood pressure, and ApoB) empowers you to make targeted choices, and evidence‑based eating patterns such as the DASH or Mediterranean diet can lower risk over time. Even if medications are part of your care, diet, sleep, exercise, and stress management remain essential tools for protecting your heart. Expert Guest Dr. Sean Mendez is a non-invasive cardiologist at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn-Methodist Hospital and an assistant professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. His clinical interests include preventive cardiology, valvular heart disease, and cardiovascular imaging, including echocardiography, stress testing, and vascular imaging. In addition to seeing patients in his outpatient clinic, he provides inpatient care in the cardiac care unit, cardiac telemetry unit, and consultative cardiology service. Dr. Mendez is passionate about providing his patients with the highest-quality, comprehensive cardiovascular care. He addresses all aspects of health to prevent the development and progression of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Mendez, a native of Buffalo, New York, graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in both biology and mathematics. He attended medical school at the University at Buffalo, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society. Dr. Mendez then completed his residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.  He then completed his fellowship in cardiology at the Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was chief fellow. The pack mentality isn't going away anytime soon in craft brewing.    The Oregon Beverage Collective (OBC) – the tie up of Crux Fermentation Project, Cascade Lakes Brewing, Silver Moon Brewing, Goodlife Brewing and Tumalo Cider – launched a couple of weeks ago as one of the latest additions to this crowd.   OBC president Andy Rhine joined the latest edition of the Brewbound Podcast to share how those five brands are looking to build strength in numbers.   Rhine explained that OBC's formation wasn't out of necessity even in a Pacific Northwest market facing challenges through distributor consolidation. Instead, the collective's foundation was built via long-time relationships among brewery owners in Bend. And it was those relationships that led to Rhine acquiring Crux in a separate deal from founders Larry Sidor and Paul Evers.    Even with a portfolio of five brands and efforts to consolidate production, sales and marketing, Rhine said maintaining each brand's "unique identity" will be key to the future of the collective. The conversation also covered Rhine's view of OBC's future and whether more members will be added to its ranks.    Before the interview, Justin and Zoe break down the latest headlines, including the fallout from Dry January, the Brewers Association's 2025 financial results, Tilray's licensing deal with Carlsberg, the Left Hand Collective's newest member and the Supreme Court's ruling on reciprocal tariffs.
