My guest is Dr. Michael Platt, Ph.D., a professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. We discuss how factors such as hormonal or social status influence what we value, how we make decisions, and even our perceptions across a range of areas, from who and what we find attractive to our political affiliations. We also discuss how humans evaluate and shift power in relationships and form hierarchies in groups. Dr. Platt also shares new science-based tools for improving focus, creativity, and attention. Reinvention Room is launched with a whole new twist!!! This episode is a juicy one. I'm breaking down the Tradwife phenomenon—a throwback to 1950s-style homemaking in today's modern world. If you've ever stumbled across an Instagram account like Ballerina Farm or found yourself questioning the aesthetics, values, and privilege behind these curated lives, you're in for a treat.I dive into what Tradwives are, why they're so polarizing, and what makes them both fascinating and frustrating. From the allure of simplicity to the backlash from feminists, I'm unpacking why this cultural moment lights up so many debates. Are Tradwives just living their best lives, or are they masking privilege and systemic inequities? And, most importantly, how does this trend reflect where we are as women in 2025?I'll share my personal reactions (spoiler: I'm not moving to a farm anytime soon) and highlight key players like Ballerina Farm and other tradwife influencers. We'll also explore whether this movement is truly about choice—or if it's an MLM-esque path back to traditional gender roles.Notable Timestamps:0:00-2:15: Welcome to The Reinvention Room relaunch! Voting day always comes with its unique stories, doesn't it? Imagine the surprise on my face when one of us decided to write in their dad's name as a candidate! Episode 250 of Bros Bibles & Beer takes you on an introspective journey through the aftermath of the elections, mixing humor with a dash of political exhaustion. We share our personal experiences at the polls, discuss the rollercoaster of emotions these elections stirred up, and express a longing for simpler, less intrusive governance. We juxtapose our current sentiments against those from elections past, acknowledging the fatigue that comes with continuous political upheaval. As the conversation unfolds, we dive into concerns about how shifts in power might erode personal freedoms, drawing from personal stories and historical events. The atmosphere during Obama's time, with folks stockpiling supplies due to fears of drastic change, serves as a backdrop for our exploration of recent government restrictions. We dissect the Democratic Party's electoral challenges, highlighting the need for a shift in strategy beyond identity politics and media narratives. Political polarization and the intertwining of faith and politics are explored, especially regarding immigration, as we ponder the role of the church in these complex times. The latter part of the episode tackles societal shifts and the balancing act between compassion and legality in immigration. We explore how the church can navigate the rise in non-binary identities while staying true to traditional beliefs. With engaging anecdotes and humorous interludes, we venture into discussions about taxation, historical societal shifts, and the cultural phenomena shaping our world. From the intriguing debate on Saint Augustine's pronunciation to the playful creation of a fictional dating app, "Accidental Finder," we ensure a mix of thoughtful reflection and lighthearted banter, all wrapped up with gratitude to our listeners. On this episode of the Trust the Plan Podcast, hosts Nick Hopwood, CFP® and Jim Pilat, CFP® dive into a fascinating analysis of consumer confidence trends segmented by political affiliation, drawing on a JP Morgan chart spanning from 2000 to the present. The data vividly illustrates how consumer sentiment among Republicans and Democrats has fluctuated in response to major events such as 9/11, the housing market crash, and other significant milestones. For instance, the chart reveals that Republican consumer confidence often surged in the wake of elections won by their party, while Democratic confidence generally peaked under their leadership, albeit with notable drops during economic crises or geopolitical tensions. This dynamic interplay highlights not only the impact of political shifts on consumer behavior but also the broader economic ripple effects of pivotal historical events. Nick and Jim's analysis sheds light on how these patterns reflect deeper ideological divides and the broader economic psyche over the past two decades. — Peak Wealth Management is a financial planning and wealth management firm in Plymouth, MI. Political corruption and bias are contentious issues that have long been a part of the global political landscape. Glenn Wiggle, Mike Lomas, and Mike Sperrazza, each with their unique perspectives, shed light on these issues. Wiggle, deeply cynical of the political system, believes that corruption and bias are deeply ingrained within it, with party loyalty often overshadowing race and ethics. He also underscores the role of money in politics, suggesting that individuals can amass wealth while in office without facing consequences. Lomas, on the other hand, criticizes the media for its double standards and lack of accountability, suggesting a systemic problem with corruption and bias in politics. He also touches on racial and ethnic discrimination, implying that certain groups are unfairly targeted. Sperrazza echoes similar sentiments, highlighting the double standards in the justice system and the lack of accountability among politicians. His perspective suggests a deep skepticism towards the integrity and fairness of the political system. In this episode of The Litigation Psychology Podcast, CSI Litigation Consultants Dr. Steve Wood and Dr. Lorie Sicafuse discuss this research and what the results mean for attorneys and their perceptions about jury selection.

This season is about to get political. We hadn't planned it this way: it just sort of happened. Almost all the guests we invited this season wanted to talk about socialism, local politics, call-out culture, etc. So with the media inundating us with political headlines for the next 11 months, we figured it was a good time to record an episode on our political stances as a backdrop for this season. Being generally liberal (though less liberal than some of the guests you'll see this season), we talk about why Trump won in 2016, what we think Democrats and society at large needs to do to stop the "pendulum" that has been pushing us farther and farther to the political poles, and how the increasingly public nature of our lives raises the stakes for both politicians and average people to tiptoe around sensitive issues without being able to say what they really mean. Do you discuss politics at work? How do you feel if political issues are discussed in the workplace? With limited research on how an organization’s focus on political ideology impacts employees, Dr. Sekou Bermiss, along with Dr. Rory McDonald, Associate Professor Business Administration at the Harvard Business School, explored what happens when an employee’s political ideology differs from the firm where they’re employed. What happens to conservatives in a liberal workplace, and what happens to liberals in a conservative workplace? A new organizational culture element to consider. Welcome back to the ModState Podcast. On this episode John and Nate continue answering the questions proposed by a listener and friend from NZ. The major theme of the questions answered have to do with collective responsibility and why this isn't as apparent in the United States today. This collective responsibility should be on the shoulders of all ideology, political affiliation and religion, but our friend specifically calls out Christian believers who seem to struggle with collective responsibility. This is apparent because the right is more caught up with who gets to come to this country (immigration), how, and the amount of appropriations to social programs. So what gives? John leaves us with a well articulated thought about Christianity and collective responsibility towards the end of the episode.
