What happens when a book about sex work, patriarchy, and motherhood collides with our own messy stories of choice, pregnancy, and parenting? Pure Real Talk and the reality: Motherhood is never simple. In this episode, Stacy and Daynah dive into *spoiler alert* Margo's Got Money Trouble and end up everywhere from pottery-as-therapy and day drinking confessions to abortion stigma, single mom survival, and postpartum euphoria (yes, it's real). They unpack the way beauty is currency, the patriarchy still shapes every decision, and how women just keep holding it all together. And because it's us, we also detour through tramp stamps, 90s nostalgia, and the pop culture comfort food of Netflix binges. It's sharp, heartfelt, occasionally irreverent, and exactly the kind of conversation your group text wishes it was having. Content Warning: This episode discusses topics related to pregnancy, including personal decisions around abortion. If these subjects feel overwhelming, please take care of yourself. ✅ The "wooden box method" that transforms phone habits ✅ Why asking "What's the point of fatherhood?" changes everything ✅ How foster care taught them about the infinite value of every child ✅ Why each of your kids needs different parenting approaches   FULL SHOW NOTES   SUMMARY What if the secret to raising kids who aren't addicted to screens isn't about restricting technology—but about making real life more compelling? In this episode, young dad Kieran Lenahan shares practical wisdom from the trenches of parenting four kids under six, including foster care experiences that changed everything. You'll discover why the simple question "What's the point of fatherhood?" should guide every parenting decision, and how a wooden box might be the game-changer your family needs. TAKEAWAYS The fundamental question every dad should ask and keep asking: "What is the point of fatherhood?" Let this guide your decisions rather than just reacting to whatever gets thrown at you. Make real life more compelling than screens by creating engaging experiences—if physical reality is exciting, screens lose their allure naturally. The wooden box method: Put phones in a physical container and commit to never looking at your phone when kids are asking for your attention. Each child needs different parenting approaches—situational leadership applies to fatherhood, so learn to speak each kid's unique "language." Foster care teaches you that every child has infinite value—there's no such thing as "practice" when it comes to loving and caring for any child. GUEST Kieran Lenahan is the founder of Malachi Daily, a scripture memory tool used by over 70,000 people to memorize Bible verses through gamified daily emails. He's an entrepreneur, coach, and father of four children under six, including children through foster care. Kieran and his wife are passionate about making real life more compelling than screens, intentional parenting, and helping families build rhythms around scripture memory. He lives with his family and leads initiatives that blend faith, technology, and practical parenting wisdom. Let that be a really helpful guiding question as you enter fatherhood, and you can keep asking that as you go." "We think that life is good and God created it in the physical real world to be good. If we can make that as compelling as possible, screens lose their allure." "We will never be looking at our phone when our kids are asking for our attention. I never want our kids to feel like our phone is more important than they are." "Not each of our kids needs the exact same type of parenting. The best leaders understand how to speak the language of that team member in a way that's going to motivate them." "If we don't know who we are, it's really hard to live an effective, faithful, obedient life. If that's true for us, how much more true is that for our kids?"

In this episode of The Leader's Notebook, I explore how the Holy Spirit transforms our relationships—marriage, family, work—through one powerful principle: mutual submission. Too often, Ephesians 5:22 gets pulled out like a rulebook verse, stripped of its context. But Paul's real key is found just before it—“Submit to one another in the fear of God.” I share some humorous and real-life stories (including Braves baseball, a kitchen standoff, and a priceless vase) to show how Spirit-filled living is not about control, but about giving. Whether it's a husband laying down his desires, a wife responding with grace, a parent leading with tenderness, or an employee working with integrity, the essence is the same—choosing to outgive each other. When we live this way, the Holy Spirit fills our homes, heals our wounds, and draws us closer together. — Dr. Mark Rutland Chapters (00:00:03) - The Leaders Notebook(00:00:25) - Power of the Holy Spirit in Family Life(00:01:27) - Ephesians 5:18(00:08:54) - Wives, submit yourselves unto your husbands as unto the Lord(00:14:05) - Submission in the Bible(00:19:44) - The Appeal of Looking At Your Husband(00:22:33) - The Real Deal(00:28:28) - Give generously, not arrogantly

In this special episode, Julie is joined by three of those friends—Natalie Ogbourne, Pamela Henkelman, and Rachel Fahrenbach—to celebrate four years of praying together, the beauty of friendship rooted in Christ, and God's goodness in bringing them together. During a girls' weekend in St. Louis, they pulled up the mic and recorded this uplifting conversation you won't want to miss! Join Abundant Life Mentor, Julie Lefebure, each Tuesday morning as she offers real encouragement for your real life right now through a fresh, hope-filled perspective, a lighthearted inspiration, and Biblical insight, all in about 15 minutes (guest shows are longer). Monday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded, edited, and is ready to help you kick off your workweek. On today's podcast, the guys discussed this week's fishing derby, the Real Life fantasy football league, beer league hockey, and anything else that came about. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life with a discussion about Tuesday's fishing derby presented by Sherwood Power Sports & Marine. While the boys don't really know what to expect from the derby, the boys are excited to get out on the boat and do what they can to beat our friends at Sherwood Ford. As you'll hear, Chalmers was full of helpful advice for Tyler, who will be making his fishing debut. Shifting gears, Tyler went on a rant about beer league hockey after the cost for playing went up to $13,500 in his league for the 2025-26 season. As you'll hear, it works out to $855 per player, which bothers Tyler because the annual increases seem to get bigger year over year. While beer league is a favourite Tyler pastime, having to chase his teammates for the cash is making his weekly games a little less fun. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including Chalmers working through his boys' hockey tryouts, the Real Life fantasy football league, the upcoming Oilersnation Open, and whatever else was coming to mind. As you'll hear, the back half of the podcast was all over the map despite having no prep done ahead of time. Needless to say, trying to map out an episode of Real Life is like trying to lasso a tornado. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded, edited, and is ready to help you wrap up your workweek. On today's podcast, the guys discussed Tyler's Ace Race, putting the event together, whether they'll do a mega stream like that again, and more. The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about Tyler's Ace Race that happened on Monday, and how it was a fantastic day at Cattail Crossing despite not achieving the goal. Even though Tyler didn't drain his hole-in-one, there's absolutely no doubt that it was a tremendous day of content that only happened because he was such a good sport. It was also interesting to hear Tyler's perspective on the day because even getting to the golf course on Monday wasn't exactly smooth.Walking through the day, it was interesting to hear Tyler give his version of what happened and what adjustments he would make before the rematch. From taking more breaks to slowing down his swings between balls, there are more versions of this challenge that will happen in the future. As you'll hear, this first attempt for Tyler to hit a hole-in-one sets the table for an upgraded revenge tour for the next go around, and our boy's competitive spirit will likely lead him back to the tee box in the near future. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a look ahead at the Oilersnation Open, and whether the 18 hours of golf on Monday will affect Tyler's play on tourney day. Somehow talking about the ONO led to an argument about Tyler's golf handicap after the truth came out that Chalmers doesn't believe his number is real or not. Needless to say, this was a very golf heavy episode of the podcast, and one that could spawn another round of inter-podcast challenges. SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!

Send us a textThis week's solo episode arrives later than planned, and in a very different way than I expected. On Monday, I recorded a beautiful conversation with a guest, only to have the entire recording lost when my computer ran out of disk space. Then, just a day later, I had surgery—and because of the intubation, I lost my voice. Rather than waiting until things felt polished and back to normal, I decided to show up as I am: softer, tender, and imperfect. In this solo reflection, I share about the importance of self-love and compassion during life's messier seasons. Vulnerability is often misunderstood as weakness, but in truth, it is the essence of authenticity. When things fall apart and we allow ourselves to be seen in that raw, human place, we not only create a deeper connection with others—we also give ourselves permission to rest in our own humanness. This episode is an invitation to let go of perfection, to welcome support when you need it, and to know that showing up—even shakily or a little late—is more than enough. May this conversation remind you that your worth is never dependent on “holding it all together,” but on the courage to be real,30-minute Consultation with Andrea https://www.andreaatherton.com/booking-calendarAndrea Atherton Websitehttps://www.andreaatherton.com/Love Anarchy Websitehttps://www.andreaatherton.com/podcasthttps://loveanarchypodcast.buzzsprout.comLove Anarchy Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/loveanarchypodcast/Andrea Atherton Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/andreaatherton-17/

In this episode of The Leader's Notebook, I share one of my favorite stories from the book of Acts—a challenge to every believer to “get off the porch” and follow the Holy Spirit into unexpected places. From Philip's revival in Samaria to his lonely walk down a desert road, we see how God sometimes moves us from moments of great success into situations that make no sense at the time—because the miracle is waiting at the end of the road. I also tell a personal story from my early ministry days in Mexico, when I thought I knew where God was sending me, only to hear Him clearly say, “Go home.” This message will encourage you to obey first, trust God's plan, and step into the adventure He has for you. — Dr. Mark Rutland Chapters (00:00:03) - leaders notebook(00:07:30) - The Persecution of Jesus(00:12:17) - Wonders of Mexico(00:20:07) - Philip the Pharisee vs. God(00:20:49) - God's call to be a missionary in Mexico(00:27:13) - The Message of Philip the Ethiopian
