The renowned physician discusses the role of trauma in our lives, showing up as addiction, chronic disease and mental illness, and how recognising his own led to true healing. (R)Dr Gabor Maté was born in Budapest to a Jewish family, just before Nazi tanks rolled into the city. His mother risked handing him to a stranger on the street to try and get him to safety. Many years later, after establishing himself as a successful physician in Canada, Gabor looked at the problems in his work and marriage and wondered if they were linked to that early trauma. He uses his own experiences as a test case for the effects of trauma on the body and the body-mind connection. Dr Mate is internationally renowned for his ideas around the lifelong impact of trauma. He believes it is contributing factor to rates of addiction, chronic disease, and mental illness, as well as ADHD.His views are sometimes described as unorthodox by his critics, but Dr Mate argues that understanding trauma of all kinds allows for real healing, as has happened in his own life.Further InformationThe Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness and Healing in a Toxic Culture by Dr Gabor Maté with Daniel Maté is published by Penguin Random House. This episode of Conversations was first broadcast in 2025

Hey Heal Squad! We are back with Part 2 of our conversation with Zachary Levi, and honestly… this one goes to some really unexpected places. Zach shares something that genuinely surprised Maria: despite having such a deep relationship with God, he doesn't actually go to church. We get into why, what his spiritual practice really looks like, and how years of home Bible studies and chosen-family community became more meaningful to him than traditional religion ever did. From there, the conversation gets even deeper. Zach opens up about marriage, why his first marriage cracked him wide open emotionally, and why he and his partner are choosing commitment and partnership every single day without needing a certificate to define it. We also talk about the massive shift happening in Hollywood right now, the headlines claiming he's been “graylisted,” and why he says the real story is much more complicated than people think. He shares why he believes the industry has become increasingly hostile to people who don't fall in line politically or creatively,  and why that's exactly why he's spent decades dreaming up Wyldwood Studios: the studio and living community he believes could completely change the future of storytelling. And somehow we also get into AI, why it actually doesn't scare him, and why he believes human connection, creativity, and community are about to become even more valuable. Plus, because it's Mental Health Awareness Month, Zach talks about Nerd HQ and the nonprofit work he's doing to help people access therapy who otherwise couldn't afford it. As he says in this episode: the stigma isn't the barrier anymore — the price tag is. Just a warning Zach gets into some heavy things, so please listen with care. HEALERS & HEAL LINERS You can't outrun your trauma: Zach said he spent decades performing — booking jobs, hitting marks, smiling on red carpets — while completely unaware that unprocessed childhood trauma was running the show underneath. Every breakdown is an invitation: Zach reframed his lowest moment not as punishment but as God's invitation to finally stop and listen. Church is the people. Healing is the practice. Faith is the next step:  Zach pushed back on the idea that church is a building or a denomination — he said church is the community you do the work alongside, the people who show up when you're falling apart.  HEAL SQUAD SOCIALS IG: https://www.instagram.com/healsquad/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@healsquadxmaria HEAL SQUAD RESOURCES: Heal Squad Website:https://www.healsquad.com/ Heal Squad x Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/HealSquad/membership Maria Menounos Website: https://www.mariamenounos.com My Curated Macy's Page: https://stylecrew.macys.com/@mariamenounos EMR-Tek Red Light: https://emr-tek.com/discount/Maria30 for 30% off Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.com/host GUEST RESOURCES: Follow Zach on IG: https://www.instagram.com/zacharylevi/ Radical Love:  https://www.amazon.com/Go-Love-Yourself-Radical-Acceptance/dp/0785236759 Wyldwood Studios: wyldwood.com  Nerd HQ: nerdhq.org ABOUT MARIA MENOUNOS: Emmy Award-winning journalist, TV personality, actress, 2x NYT best-selling author, former pro-wrestler and brain tumor survivor, Maria Menounos' passion is to see others heal and to get better in all areas of life. "Healing is not becoming someone new; it's returning to the parts of yourself you abandoned." What happens when the goals that once drove you no longer fulfill you? What happens when achievement, success, ambition, and even purpose begin to lose their meaning? In this deeply revealing episode of Soul Talk, Kute Blackson sits down with legendary teacher and bestselling author David Deida to explore the evolving journey of modern masculinity through the lens of his powerful new work, The Man of Zero. Together, they dive into a conversation that goes far beyond self-help or traditional ideas of success, exploring the deeper emotional, spiritual, and psychological crisis many men silently face today. This episode explores the different stages of masculine development, why so many men feel disconnected despite outward success, and the subtle difference between true emptiness and emotional collapse. David Deida unpacks what happens when a man can no longer rely on achievement, identity, or external purpose to define himself and why this stage, though deeply uncomfortable, may actually be the doorway to a more authentic, liberated way of living. Rather than offering quick answers or surface-level motivation, this conversation challenges the listener to look deeper at the patterns of striving, control, and self-definition that quietly shape modern life. It is a powerful exploration of purpose, surrender, emotional honesty, relationships, and what it truly means to evolve as a human being, both externally and internally. If you've ever felt exhausted from chasing, uncertain about your direction, or sensed that there must be more to life than achievement alone, this episode may completely change how you understand growth, fulfillment, and freedom.   Timestamps (00:02:14) – Why emotional pain doesn't disappear when ignored (00:05:28) – The survival patterns formed in childhood (00:08:47) – How unhealed wounds shape relationships and identity (00:12:05) – The exhausting cycle of emotional avoidance (00:16:42) – Why self-awareness alone doesn't create transformation (00:21:18) – Meeting the parts of yourself you rejected (00:26:30)– What true healing actually requires (00:31:05) – Breaking free from survival and reconnecting with yourself Some Questions I Ask What parts of yourself did you learn were unsafe to feel or express? Are you reacting to life… or reliving old emotional patterns? How much of your identity was built around survival? What pain are you still trying to outrun? Who would you be without the defenses you created to protect yourself? What if healing begins the moment you stop abandoning yourself?  In This Episode You'll Learn • The different stages of masculine evolution and growth • Why many successful men still feel disconnected or unfulfilled • The difference between emotional collapse and "zero" • How identity and achievement can quietly become emotional addictions • Why purpose alone cannot sustain deeper fulfillment • What happens when you stop defining yourself through performance • How surrender can become a doorway to deeper freedom and clarity Get in Touch: Create a life that is a masterpiece. In this episode of the Exploring More podcast, Michael Thompson and SJ Jennings continue the conversation around the Good Man Series, exploring what healing actually looks like—and why becoming a good man is inseparable from learning how to receive love. Healing isn't just about fixing what's broken. It's about uncovering the true self beneath the wounds, agreements, disappointments, and grief we've carried for years. Michael and SJ discuss the deeper work of restoration, the resistance many men feel toward receiving encouragement, and why even something as simple as a compliment can reveal what still needs healing. At the center of the conversation is a profound truth: good overcomes evil through love. Not striving. Not performance. Not shame. But through the restoring work of God that calls men back to who they truly are. Michael and SJ also unpack the effects of unresolved grief, the connection between emotional and physical health, and why healing is never meant to happen in isolation. Whether through friendship, brotherhood, or intentional spiritual practices, men need others to walk with them as they recover strength, goodness, and wholeheartedness. The journey toward healing isn't quick—but it is good. And the more whole a man becomes, the more freely he can love, lead, and live from the heart God intended. This episode is an invitation to keep going—to embrace the process, receive what God says is true about you, and trust that healing is still unfolding.

Modern dating has a noise problem — reality TV selling fairy tales, apps reducing attraction to a swipe, and social media quietly eroding how we see ourselves and what we expect from love. In this episode, Christopher Louis and Natalie Stavola cut through all of it. They get into why most people enter relationships still carrying the wreckage of the last one, how blurry boundaries masquerade as flexibility until everything falls apart, and what emotional intelligence actually looks like in real-time — not in theory. They also break down what shows like Love Is Blind and Age of Attraction get right, get wrong, and what they unintentionally reveal about how desperate most people are for genuine connection. Healing from Within! "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" Proverbs 4:23 In the tapestry of life, God beckons us to embark on a profound journey of healing that begins deep within our souls. The story of David's repentance in Psalm 51 reveals the rawness of a heart yearning for restoration. When David pleads, “Create in me a clean heart, O God,” his plea demonstrates that true healing comes when we confront our inner battles. His vulnerability reminds us that acknowledging our flaws is the first step toward renewal, a transition from sorrow to joy. Proverbs 4:23 implores, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Our hearts are the wellspring of our thoughts, emotions, and actions. They are where God's Word must dwell, lighting the path to inner peace. As we immerse ourselves in scripture, remember, "God's promise is medicine — where pain once spoke loudly, peace begins to sing." So when we begin to witness the transformative power of His love, let us remember the promises of God. Jeremiah 30:17 says, "For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after." So, let “True Healing Starts from Within!” as we journey through the valleys of despair towards the mountaintops of hope. Just as David experienced renewal when he sought God, we too can find strength in our struggles. Let's pray as David prayed in Psalm 51:10, saying, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Remember, inner healing fosters outer strength. When we shield our hearts with faith, we allow the Holy Spirit to pour His grace into our wounds. This sacred connection initiates true change, leading to a renewed mind, as Romans 12:2 echoes. As we embrace this journey, we realize that our scars tell a story of God's unwavering love, and our deepest pain can inspire others to seek His healing. Amen. Ezekiel 36:26 says, "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." Amen. Prayer for the Day! Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Word, which brings healing and hope. Lord, heal my inner wounds and renew my spirit with Your unfailing love. May Your presence envelop us, guiding us to discover the peace that surpasses all understanding. Help us to guard our hearts and open ourselves to the transformative power of Your grace. In Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen. https://maglife.org

“Revealing Is the Key to Healing the Concealing” A Deeper Look at Non-Persecutory Sight as Soul Medicine Inspired by the work of Raquel Hopkins Somewhere along the way, modern culture turned emotional growth into a backstage pass nobody ever stops checking. Everybody “processing.” Everybody “unpacking.” Everybody “working on themselves.” Meanwhile the rent still due, the children still growing, the body still aging, and loneliness sitting in the corner eating grapes like it pays utilities. Tonight's conversation asks an uncomfortable question: what if some people are no longer healing from life, but hiding from participation inside highly intelligent emotional language? Because there's a difference between self-awareness and self-surveillance. A lot of people no longer experience relationships directly. They experience themselves experiencing the relationship. Monitoring. Interpreting. Diagnosing. Regulating. Curating. The modern nervous system has become a full-time security team protecting the personality from embarrassment, rejection, uncertainty, criticism, disappointment, exposure, and ordinary human friction. Some folks don't need intimacy anymore — they need hazard insurance with eye contact. And the strange part? Society applauds it. Hyper-analysis now masquerades as wisdom. Emotional hesitation gets marketed as maturity. Avoidance gets rebranded as discernment. People disappear behind wellness language while calling it growth. But here's the deeper danger: concealment slowly converts the soul into customer service. Pleasant voice. Professional smile. Internal fire. Tonight we investigate whether true transformation begins not when pain disappears… but when pretending becomes more exhausting than being seen.

Welcome back to “When Words Fail, Music Speaks,” the podcast where we explore how melody and rhythm become the medicine for the soul. I'm your host, James Cox, a lifelong believer in music's ability to lift us out of the darkest moments and into hope.Today's guest is a true pioneer of the genre that's reshaping the church's soundtrack—DPB (David Paul Brooks). From opening for the iconic Salt‑N‑Pepa in his early secular days to becoming a billboard‑charting Christian hip‑hop powerhouse, DPV's journey is a testament to how a single decision can rewrite a destiny. We'll hear how a chance encounter after a life‑changing concert at a Salvation Army hall—where three nonagenarians shouted “You gave us something to live for”—crystallized his calling. He'll share the raw truth of battling clinical depression, the role music played in pulling him from the brink, and why he insists “no bad days” is more than a slogan—it's a lifestyle.DPV also breaks down the cultural tug‑of‑war he felt growing up between the church and the hip‑hop scene, the resistance he faced when rap first entered worship spaces, and how today's artists like Lecrae are standing on the doors he helped pry open. We'll discuss his work with today's youth—why he believes kids are navigating more freedom and pressure than ever before, and how his songs, from the anthemic “Undefeated 3.0” to the feel‑good “I Feel So Good Today,” are engineered to spark smiles, spark faith, and spark action.Stick around for a rapid‑fire lightning round, a peek into his upcoming book No Bad Days, and a heartfelt invitation to join DPV's mission of turning beats into blessings. If you've ever felt words fall short, stay tuned—because tonight, music will speak louder than ever.

Del Potter, PhD is an ethnopsychopharmacologist, chemist, and psychedelic pioneer whose career has moved across some of the most consequential and unconventional edges of the field, from Mesoamerican field research and underground manufacturing to cutting-edge pharmaceutical development and clinical trials. He brings a rare perspective to the psychedelic renaissance: not as a commentator, but as someone who was inside the apparatus that produced these compounds long before the current wave had a name. Dr. Potter holds a PhD from a joint program between the UCSF Medical School and UC Berkeley's Department of Anthropology, specializing in psychiatric anthropology, ethnopsychopharmacology, and neuropharmacology, with additional clinical training at the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute. His postdoctoral fieldwork examined shamanic traditions and indigenous psychotherapeutic practice across multiple lineages, including ceremonial psilocybin and Salvia divinorum use among the Mazatec of central Mexico, ayahuasca and yagé ritual among the Shuar of Ecuador, and parallel traditions among the Yanomami of Brazil and the Cofán of Colombia, contributing to Richard Evans Schultes' comprehensive survey of psychotropic botanicals worldwide. A formative mentorship with Alexander Shulgin oriented his chemistry toward novel tryptamine compounds, particularly in the DMT and 5-MeO-DMT structural classes, and he has since developed a portfolio of compounds that retain the neuroplasticity associated with psychedelic receptor activity while producing no psychedelic effect. On the pharmaceutical and biotech side, Dr. Potter served as Chief Science Officer at Leef Holdings, designing what became California's largest fully automated medical cannabis manufacturing facility, and later directed first-in-human 5-MeO-DMT clinical trials at UCSF through his work with Alvarius Pharmaceuticals, followed by a Phase 1 trial at Trinity College Dublin. At University College Dublin, he developed and validated the use of human stem cell-derived brain organoids to assess how psychedelic compounds reverse epigenetic changes caused by substance abuse. In 2023 he founded Spiritus Bioscience to develop novel delivery formats for psilocin, DMT, and 5-MeO-DMT, with the first product entering clinical trials in Australia targeting Alcohol Use Disorder. He currently serves as founder and CSO of BioUnbound Inc., exploring the intersection of psychedelics and bioactive peptides for mental health and longevity applications. Dr. Potter is currently completing his memoir, whose working title is Was a Different Time: Chronicles of a Psychedelic Pioneer in the Reign of the Cartels.Episode Highlights ▶ Del's background supplying California cannabis genetics to the Guadalajara cartel and working at Rancho Bufalo  ▶ Meeting cartel figures Miguel Felix Gallardo and Rafael Caro Quintero, and the fallout from the Kiki Camarena murder  ▶ Manufacturing LSD in Marin County using precursor chemicals sourced through cartel connections  ▶ How a DEA sting led to a federal task force, a stunning offer, and a get-out-of-jail-free card  ▶ Mentorship under Alexander Shulgin and the countercultural milieu of Esalen, Claudio Naranjo, Allen Ginsberg, and Terence McKenna  ▶ Why psychedelics have no intrinsic politics: the compound is the same, the container decides everything  ▶ The retreat economy as product development: when one medicine stops differentiating, operators start stacking  ▶ How the clinical and pharmaceutical models convert ceremony into a billable procedure  ▶ The psychoplastogen pipeline: engineering the experience out so the worker is back at their desk by Wednesday  ▶ Indigenous cosmological governance as a technical achievement, not a romanticized ideal  ▶ The concept of restraint and reciprocity as regulatory systems, and what Western culture has lost  ▶ Why patenting psilocybin protocols and dosing postures is a winnable legal argument  ▶ Publicly funded, community-governed clinics as the only container that can hold what these compounds require  ▶ The mental health crisis as inseparable from the housing, wage, care, and climate crises  ▶ Building a parallel infrastructure: cooperatives, commons defense, and indigenous benefit sharing as models    Dr. Del Potter's Links & Resources ▶ https://delpotterphd.substack.com ▶ https://www.facebook.com/del.potter.75 ▶ @drdelpotter.bsky.social ▶ www.biounbound.com ▶ https://www.instagram.com/potter_del/ Download Beth's free trainings here:  Clarity to Clients: Start & Grow a Transformational Coaching, Healing, Spiritual, or Psychedelic Business:  https://bethaweinstein.com/grow-your-spiritual-business Integrating Psychedelics & Sacred Medicines Into Business: https://bethaweinstein.com/psychedelics-in-business ▶ Beth's Coaching & Guidance: https://bethaweinstein.com/coaching  ▶ Beth's Offerings & Courses: https://bethaweinstein.com/services ▶ Instagram:  @bethaweinstein  ▶ FB: / bethw.nyc + bethweinsteinbiz  Download Beth's free trainings here: Clarity to Clients: Start & Grow a Transformational Coaching, Healing, Spiritual, or Psychedelic Business: https://bethaweinstein.com/grow-your-spiritual-businessIntegrating Psychedelics & Sacred Medicines Into Business: https://bethaweinstein.com/psychedelics-in-business▶ Beth's Coaching & Guidance: https://bethaweinstein.com/coaching ▶ Beth's Offerings & Courses: https://bethaweinstein.com/services▶ Instagram: @bethaweinstein ▶ FB: / bethw.nyc + bethweinsteinbiz

Shame doesn't only live in the dark corners of a broken life. It lives just as quietly in the person everyone else envies — the one who has achieved everything and still wakes up feeling like it isn't enough.Ken Shigematsu grew up moving between Japan, England, and Canada, carrying the weight of a shame-and-honor culture that most Western theology never addresses. In this conversation, he and Michael explore why deep grace is different from knowing grace is true, what it means to grow our capacity to actually receive love rather than deflect it, and why beauty and joy aren't spiritual extras — they are among the most direct routes out of shame and into the self God made.Ken also shares the simple daily practice that, over 30 days, can literally rewire the neural networks that make it hard to feel loved by God — even when you believe it.Ken Shigematsu is a pastor in Vancouver, Canada, and author of Now I Become Myself: How Deep Grace Heals Our Shame and Restores Our True Self.Support the showENGAGE THE RESTORING THE SOUL PODCAST:- Follow us on YouTube - Tweet us at @michaeljcusick and @PodcastRTS- Like us on Facebook- Follow us on Instagram & Twitter- Follow Michael on Twitter- Email us at info@restoringthesoul.com Thanks for listening!

For so many of us, saying no can feel almost unbearable. We want everyone to be okay, and somewhere along the way we learned that keeping the peace often meant abandoning ourselves. But there comes a moment on this journey where something inside says… this doesn't feel right anymore. In this episode, we continue the conversation around helping versus enabling and move into the sacred work of boundaries. Not boundaries as punishment or control, but boundaries as clarity, self-respect, and learning how to come home to yourself.Through the Recover Your Soul process, we begin to recognize the patterns and beliefs that taught us we were responsible for everyone else's feelings. We start learning how to trust our own inner knowing, stop overexplaining ourselves, and make choices that align with who we are becoming.Choosing yourself is not selfish. It's sacred, and so is setting healthy boundaries. This work can feel uncomfortable, especially when old relationships and patterns push back. But there is also freedom and peace that comes when you stop abandoning yourself in order to keep everyone else comfortable. You are allowed to have needs. You are allowed to say no.You are allowed to choose yourself with love.Together, we can do the work that will Recover Your Soul.Send a one way text to Rev Rachel

Are You Allowing Yourself to Heal? Using the Blind Spot Model to Stop Avoidance   Juan asks whether listeners are allowing themselves to heal, using his own recent ankle injury and past back nerve pinch as examples of how avoiding discomfort can stall recovery even when life stays busy with work and family. He connects physical healing to emotional and relational healing through his "BS model," describing avoidant coping (the "red" area) as common when tired or in pain, and "intentional presence" (the "blue" area) as necessary for healing even though it can be uncomfortable. He notes how unaddressed pain affects workouts, sleep, and progress, and argues that people often cope with pain through distractions rather than dealing with it directly, similar to avoiding therapy. He closes by linking avoidance to shame and urging listeners to pause and identify where they haven't fully healed—physically, professionally, or in relationships—and decide if it's worth addressing.   00:00 Are You Healing 01:27 Injury and Avoidance 02:04 Ankle Wake Up Call 03:16 Avoidant Coping Loop 03:53 Returning to Training 05:12 Get Help to Heal 05:44 Nerve Injury Lesson 06:29 Intentional Presence 07:59 Why We Resist Healing 08:37 Shame and Awareness 09:38 Let Yourself Heal 09:56 Final Reflection

Life often applies pressure when we least expect it, but God can use even difficult circumstances to accomplish beautiful purposes. In this episode, Dr. Dick Foth highlights the pattern we see in Acts 8 of pressure on the early church leading to the exercise of God's power. Persecution scattered the early believers from Jerusalem, forcing them to spread the gospel beyond their comfort zone. Philip's ministry in Samaria brought healing and great joy to a despised people group, while his encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch demonstrated how God orchestrates divine appointments. Healing begins long before a diagnosis, it starts with feeling seen, heard, and cared for. Pediatrician, mentor, and health equity advocate Dr. Tyler Smith shares a heartfelt conversation about caring for children, supporting families, and leading with purpose. From discovering her passion for pediatrics at a young age to mentoring the next generation of healthcare leaders, Dr. Tyler reflects the importance of representation, mental health, community, and whole-person care. This episode is a reminder that healing goes beyond medicine. It begins with listening, compassion, advocacy, and creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and valued.  Key Takeaways:   Your "why" helps you stay grounded, prevent burnout, and reconnect with purpose.   Healthy children thrive when families, communities, and healthcare providers work together.   Mental health conversations should begin with listening, validating, and checking in consistently.  Representation and advocacy in healthcare matter for trust, safety, and better outcomes.   Small moments of connection, joy, and mentorship can create generational impact.   We couldn't highlight incredible stories like this without the support of our sponsor, CommunityAmerica Credit Union. Thank you for helping us promote connection, well-being, and stronger communities. Some grief has a funeral that follows, and some grief doesn't. In this episode, RodneyHolmstrom, global field, director of Celebrate recovery, will unpack and help us understand how some of the losses of what never was or shattered dreams are just as important to grieve and organize toward healing as any other aspect of grief. Why Marriage Counseling Can Backfire After Infidelity

After betrayal, almost everyone says the same thing: “You two need counseling.” But what if rushing into couples therapy immediately after infidelity is actually making things worse? In this deeply honest and eye-opening episode, Lora Cheadle shares why betrayal is not simply a marriage problem — it's a nervous system injury, an identity crisis, and a reality-shattering trauma that requires stabilization before relationship repair. Drawing from her own experience recovering after her husband's multiple affairs, Lora explains why so many betrayed partners leave counseling feeling blamed, overwhelmed, emotionally flooded, or even more disconnected from themselves. She explores the “assumption trap” that infidelity is caused by relationship problems, why traditional couples counseling can unintentionally backfire early on, and what healing-focused support should actually prioritize first. This episode is not anti-therapy and it's not anti-marriage. It's a compassionate, trauma-informed conversation about why healing begins with you — your safety, your nervous system, your clarity, and your self-trust. If you've been betrayed and feel confused, pressured, dysregulated, or like you've completely lost yourself, this episode will help you understand why.   Top 3 Takeaways Infidelity is not just a marriage problem. Betrayal shatters your sense of reality, identity, trust, and nervous system safety. Before working on the relationship, the betrayed partner often needs stabilization, orientation, and emotional safety first. Traditional couples counseling can unintentionally backfire early on. When therapy focuses too quickly on “relationship dynamics,” many betrayed partners leave feeling blamed, self-monitoring, emotionally flooded, or pressured to fix the relationship before their own trauma has been addressed. Healing starts with rebuilding yourself — not rushing decisions. Before deciding whether to stay, leave, forgive, reconcile, or rebuild the marriage, it's essential to regulate the nervous system, reconnect with self-trust, and create clarity from a grounded place instead of survival mode.   Favorite Quotes “Infidelity is not a marriage problem. It is an individual's problem.” “People cheat because they can't meet their own needs.” “Marriage counseling assumes two regulated adults discussing relationship dynamics.” “Betrayal involves one deeply dysregulated person trying to survive the collapse of their reality.” “It's not about pretending everything is okay. It's about rebuilding you and your truth.” “When you're bleeding out, you stop the blood flow first.” “You don't need to rush your healing. But you do need to take care of yourself first.”   About Lora Lora Cheadle, JD, CHt is a former attorney turned betrayal recovery coach, hypnotherapist, and author who helps women rebuild their identity and reclaim their power after infidelity and profound emotional betrayal. The painful truth is… it often has less to do with your worth, and more to do with how much you are abandoning yourself in the relationship. Episode Summary In this episode, Thais Gibson explains what actually causes a Dismissive Avoidant Attachment Style to recognize and value someone in a relationship and why it begins with your relationship to yourself. You'll learn why Avoidants tend to respect people who communicate boundaries clearly, maintain a strong sense of self, and are emotionally at peace with letting go when their needs are not being met. Thais also breaks down how core wounds around being unworthy, unlovable, or “not good enough” can lead to self-abandonment, people-pleasing, and overcompensating in relationships; along with practical steps to rebuild self-respect, strengthen self-identity, and stop outsourcing your worth to others. Key Takeaways ✔️ Dismissive Avoidant individuals respect strong boundaries and self-respect ✔️ Self-abandonment weakens your sense of identity and worth ✔️ People-pleasing often comes from core wounds of unworthiness ✔️ Clear standards and non-negotiables build healthier relationships ✔️ Authentic communication creates emotional clarity and respect ✔️ Strong self-identity reduces the need for external validation ✔️ Healing begins by honoring your own needs and boundaries Timestamps 00:00 – Why is This Person Not Seeing My Value? 00:38 – 1. KEY TAKEAWAYS What to Walk Away With Chaos isn't just an external circumstance, for many people, it's an internal identity built in childhood. Your nervous system will always move toward what's familiar, not what's healthy, until you consciously rewire it. Self-sabotage is not a character flaw. It is a protection strategy that outlived its usefulness. Leaders carry their wounds into their organizations. Healing isn't soft, it is a competitive advantage. Peace is a skill that can be developed. Tolerating good is the practice. The gap between where you are and where you know you're supposed to be is often not about strategy, it's about subconscious belief.
