For over 50 years, For the Strength of Youth has been a guide for generations of Latter-day Saint youth. I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me. American Conservative University Podcast (ACU) is not an official representative for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. All opinions, selections and commentary are solely those of ACU. Thanks to our faithful donors, we are able to provide food, housing, healthcare, education, fresh water, emergency relief, micro-enterprise solutions and much more. We are proud to have fed millions of people and provided more than 15.7 billion dollars in aid. Our faith inspires us to be an organization built on compassion, and motivated by love. Our mission is to bring relief to the poorest of the poor in the countries where we serve. We strive to reflect God's unconditional love. It's a sacrificial love that embraces all people regardless of race or religion. We believe that we can show His love by serving the “least of these” on this earth as Christ challenged us to do in Matthew 25. We pray that by God's grace, and with your support, we can continue to bring relief to the suffering and hope to the hopeless. --------------------------------------------------------

Segment 1 • Nick says evolution explains the appearance of design, but Todd pushes back. • Though raised Catholic and Hindu, Nick says he believes in “something above us” but isn't sure one religion has the full truth. • Todd walks Nick through why Jesus' payment for sin is necessary. Segment 2 • Todd presses Nick on objective truth: if Jesus rose, it's true for everyone. • Todd argues truth doesn't depend on culture or birthplace, but Nick says otherwise. • Todd says that if Jesus beat death, then His claims demand a verdict. Segment 3 • Jordan and Todd discuss rising suicide and mental illness rates. • Todd connects it to worldview: if life is meaningless and subjective, despair makes sense. • Jordan agrees that postmodernism leaves people empty. Segment 4 • Jordan calls herself a Christian but admits she can't articulate why Jesus' death matters. • Todd explains the purpose of life through the gospel. • By the end, Jordan quietly confesses: “I might not actually be saved.” ___ Thanks for listening! Send us a textIn this episode of Gotta Be Saints, Brendan Gotta welcomes back Dr. Julia Sadusky, a clinical psychologist and author of Emerging Gender Identities: Understanding the Diverse Experiences of Today's Youth. Together, they unpack the complex and often misunderstood topic of conversion therapy—how it's defined, what the law says, and how Catholics can approach questions of faith, sexuality, and identity with both compassion and truth. From Colorado's 2019 conversion therapy ban to the challenges faced by Christian clinicians, this conversation explores the balance between faithful accompaniment and clinical integrity, while offering hope for families navigating these sensitive issues.Guest BioDr. Julia Sadusky is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the integration of faith and mental health. She works primarily with sexual and gender minorities from Christian backgrounds and provides consultation and training to churches, schools, and clinicians. Julia holds a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Regent University and a B.A. from Ave Maria University. She is also the co-author of Emerging Gender Identities: Understanding the Diverse Experiences of Today's Youth. Dr. Robert Hoffman is the Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Nationwide Children's Hospital. He earned his M.D. from The Ohio State University, completed his pediatric residency at Akron Children's Hospital, and completed his fellowship at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Hoffman is also a member of the Scientific Policy Committee of the American College of Pediatricians. He has recently revised an important report titled Marijuana Use: Detrimental to Youth. A recent press release spoke of an "American College of Surgeons report revealing that over 40% of deceased drivers in motor vehicle crashes over the past six years tested positive for THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana." This alarming statistic underscores a persistent and growing public health crisis. While this study does not specifically indicate the ages of the drivers, previous evidence shows that young adults are disproportionately prone to risky or impaired driving behaviors, particularly when under the influence of drugs or alcohol. While there are claims that marijuana is harmless, there are also many adverse effects that not only impact the user, but also children are being impacted as well.

Mayor Andre Dickens is a proud Atlanta native whose journey to leadership began when he set his sights on becoming mayor at just sixteen. Raised in Atlanta's public school system and shaped by a strong community, he became the city's first in his family to attend college, earning an engineering degree from Georgia Tech. Before stepping into public service, Dickens succeeded as an entrepreneur, building a multi-million dollar furniture business. As Atlanta's mayor, he's known for his collaborative, energetic leadership—rallying city officials, business leaders, and residents alike to solve problems, support youth, and drive equity, all while preserving Atlanta's legacy as a cultural and economic powerhouse. Key Takeaways: Purpose-Driven Leadership: Mayor Dickens' motivation to serve Atlanta stems from gratitude to the community and his personal “because”—giving back and helping others reach their potential. Youth Empowerment as a Strategy: Dickens' focus on the “Year of the Youth” has resulted in thousands of teens gaining meaningful job opportunities and mentorship, helping drive the city's record-low crime rates and record-high graduation rates. Transparency and Trust: He views trust and energy as the “currency” of his administration, believing authentic, accountable leadership is essential, especially in today's climate of misinformation and public skepticism. Sound Bytes: “Atlanta is a group project… entrepreneurship is about how to leverage the capacity of others.” “I've labeled Atlanta as a group project, because the mayor can't put an S on his chest and go around here being in 50 places at one time—no, it takes all of us.” “My ‘because' is: it's time for me to give back and lift as I climb.” Connect & Discover Mayor Dickens: Website: City of Atlanta, GA Website: andreforatlanta.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/andreforatlanta/?hl=en Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/andreforatlanta/
JR Ujifusa is a Multnomah County senior deputy district attorney and heads its Human Trafficking Team. He’s also the chair of the National Advisory Committee on the Sex Trafficking of Children & Youth. His team and other partners working to eliminate trafficking and support survivors are trying to locate anyone who was trafficked on the now defunct Backpage(dot)com, which was one of the largest online prostitution sites in the world. The DA’s office wants to let survivors know there is money available to them in the form of restitution from the successful prosecution of those who profited from that trafficking. Ujifusa joins us to share more about that effort, and the progress that’s been made more broadly since he began working in this area in 2008.
Your Tech Q is a youth-led nonprofit that gives free workshops and presentations on technology and digital literacy in various communities, with a focus on older adults. It’s run by 16-year-old Catlin Gabel high school junior Atef Siddiqui. He got involved with the workshops about a year after the organization was founded in 2022 by Portland students. At the time he was in middle school and doing similar work tutoring Afghan refugees. Siddiqui says he and other youth volunteers find the kind of one-on-one tutoring extremely rewarding. The feedback they get in real time, and afterwards in written evaluations from participants, tells him Your Tech Q is providing a service that is in short supply. Your Tech Q now has chapters in San Diego and Houston. And Siddiqui says he’s happy to share the nonprofit’s knowledge base with any group of young people that would like to take on a similar mission. We talk with Siddiqui about Your Tech Q and his hopes for the organization and the mission as it grows.

Collaboration Lessons from Theatre Directors That Apply to Any Creative Project with Stacy Zuberi, Sara Ruiz, Basil Rodericks, and Andy Reiff. What can a directing class teach us about creativity, leadership, and the art of telling stories that connect? In this episode of Your Creative Mind, Izolda Trakhtenberg sits down with fellow directors Basil Rodericks, Andy Reiff, Sara Ruiz, and Stacy Zuberi to share lessons from their time training with master teacher Karen Kohlhaas. You'll hear how working on plays like Sweet Bird of Youth, A Streetcar Named Desire, Mala Hierba, and The Revolutionists shaped their vision, sharpened their communication, and strengthened their confidence as creative leaders. If you want practical strategies for directing theatre, leading collaborative projects, or building a more mindful creative practice, this conversation is full of insights you can put to work in your own life. Andy Reiff Andy Reiff is a director and costume designer. 4. Saddam's Trial and Maliki's Revenge Abdullahad saw Saddam twice—as powerful youth icon then frail defendant in a trial that became "parody of justice," allowing Saddam to re-dignify himself in Arab consciousness. After December 2006 execution, Saddam's body went to Maliki's house, revealing "petty sectarian mentality." Civil war ended with Sunni defeat, former resistance figures like Hamid who opposed Al-Qaeda disappeared, and hundreds of thousands of educated Iraqis fled.
8. The Tishreen Uprising and Call for Accountability By 2019, kleptocratic party bosses and militia commanders siphoned $20 billion annually, causing unemployment despite oil wealth, with youth seeing corruption as biggest threat. Tishreen Uprising was rare trans-sectarian moment protesting elite corruption, including poor Shia denouncing Shia clergy, with women playing major roles. Though brutally suppressed with hundreds dead, "spirit of Tishreen" remains, but fundamental problem after 20 years is lack of accountability for those who perpetrated war and invasion. Retry

About this EpisodeThis episode is a little different from the usual Think Like a Game Designer conversation. Instead of a freeform discussion, I came prepared with a curated list of questions to guide the conversation, giving us a structured look into Jordan's creative process, his philosophies on innovation, and the lessons he's learned over decades of building worlds. The result is a fast-paced, insight-packed episode that feels like sitting in on a masterclass in game design.About Jordan WeismanJordan Weisman is a legendary figure in interactive entertainment, whose career spans tabletop games, video games, theme parks, and beyond. As the creator of Battletech, Shadowrun, and Crimson Skies, and the founder of iconic companies like FASA and WizKids, Jordan has shaped generations of players and creators alike. His work is defined by boundless curiosity, fearless experimentation, and a lifelong commitment to collaborative storytelling. In this episode, Jordan and I explore what it means to think small, fail boldly, and keep learning no matter how much success you've had. We discuss how curiosity drives innovation, why emotional courage is more important than financial risk, and how respect—for yourself, your team, and your audience—is at the heart of great creative work. Whether you're just starting your design journey or looking to rekindle your passion after decades in the industry, Jordan's insights offer a masterclass in staying creative for life.Think Like A Game Designer is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Justin's QuestionsWhat's something that you're passionate about outside of your career, and what do you love about it? (00:01:33)* During the pandemic, he rediscovered model building and diorama crafting, a childhood hobby that brings him therapeutic joy.* He enjoys it because it's tangible, visual storytelling where you can actually see progress, a much different process than game design, which often feels abstract or slow. What do you love about that kind of model building and creating? (00:04:05)* It aligns with Jordan's love of world-building and storytelling when creating small, detailed scenes that tell a story visually.* It's satisfying because each session produces visible progress, reinforcing creativity and immersion. What is advice that you would give to someone that's just starting out in your industry? (00:04:06)* Think small. Beginners often aim for massive projects like the ones they admire.* Start with something you can finish using your own limited resources.* Completion and execution teach more than ideas ever will.* Focus on learning through doing, not imagining. Now let's flip to the other side of the equation: what do you see as an important lesson that industry veterans need to learn? Or put another way, what advice do you think your older self might give to you? (00:06:30) * Avoid hubris. Experience can blind you. Everything you know might be wrong.* Listen to young minds. Youth brings creativity because it hasn't learned what's supposedly impossible.* Over time, past failures make people too cautious; veterans must keep their beginner's mindset.* Innovation demands courage to look foolish publicly; fear of embarrassment kills creativity.* Stay humble, keep experimenting, and reassess old assumptions regularly. Are there any practices or rituals or ways that you try to keep yourself in that beginner's mind? How can one get the advantages of experience and minimize the disadvantages? (00:08:09)* You must be willing to “go face first into the mud.”* As he said in the previous question, public embarrassment is the price of innovation.* Surround yourself with young thinkers, question assumptions, and resist dismissing ideas based on past failures.* Always check whether past lessons still apply, because markets and contexts change. Jordan gives an example of a failed company born from his overconfidence, where he didn't re-research the market because he assumed he already knew it.What do you consider the most important skills to cultivate for your profession, and how do you cultivate these skills? (00:15:13)* Endless curiosity: Study adjacent fields like comics, fiction, tech—anything that feeds creative cross-pollination.* Build a box: Instead of “thinking outside the box,” define constraints clearly to evaluate ideas. For example: He designed Mage Knight by creating a checklist of problems (ease of entry, low cost, retailer needs) and solving within that “box.”* He values self-education: when he didn't know toy manufacturing, he paid a small company to teach him the process. So let's get to the areas where the industry or you have been dead wrong. What common advice do you hear about your industry that is dead? (00:24:26)* “Nothing is ever dead.” Genres, mechanics, and IPs always come back (vinyl, RPGs, etc.) * When people say something's over, it's actually ready for reinvention.* He used to believe in-person collaboration was essential, but remote work proved him wrong.* He often misjudged products (like thinking Funko Pops would flop).* Absorb wisdom but not edicts.* Success and failure are cyclical, making timing and humility matter more than certainty. What books, articles, or learning resources have had the biggest impact on you? And if there are any key takeaways that stuck with you that come to mind? (00:30:53)* Mentions Reed Hastings' book (Netflix culture) and Creativity, Inc. by Ed Catmull (Pixar). The value here is the small-team principles and leadership lessons, though he's skeptical of the “find five geniuses” model.* His biggest lessons came from mentors, not books: Mark Miller (creator of Traveller): taught him kindness and professionalism. His father, Mort Weissman: joined FASA, ran the business side, and kept it alive.* He emphasizes mentorship, respect, and kindness as lasting business principles. What is the right way to find a partner? (00:33:14)* Finding a partner is like finding a life mate: talk about goals, work habits, expectations.* Negotiate the “prenup” early, meaning you should decide how you'll split if things go wrong.* Avoid the naive approach he took (asking friends at the table). What about systems, software, and tools that have had a big impact on your workflow?(00:38:18)* Internal tool: his “box” process for evaluating ideas.* Software: Slack (no internal email, all communication centralized), Google Docs (collaboration), ClickUp/Jira (task tracking).* Avoid “Not Invented Here” syndrome: don't build tools you can buy.* Focus on your core innovation; outsource or use existing solutions for everything else.* Reuse mechanics unless your innovation demands new ones.* Let your team choose tools bottom-up instead of enforcing top-down.What's your favorite project, and what lessons did you learn from it? (00:45:46)* His favorite is always the one he's working on now, but emotionally, Shadowrun and Crimson Skies stand out. Shadowrun came from trying to differentiate from Cyberpunk and combining fantasy with cyberpunk via the Mayan calendar. Crimson Skies was born from personal burnout after his wife pushed him to rediscover his passion. It led to reinvention and eventually Microsoft's acquisition of his company.* His lesson here is that passion and reinvention are crucial; listen to loved ones and know when to move on from stale success. You can find the previous episode with Jordan below: This is a public episode. Today I have the pleasure of talking with Supriya Khandelwal and Koa Tran, two members of the South Bay Youth Changemakers, and one of its co-directors, Amulya Mandava. This Asian American organization, located at the heart of Silicon Valley, seeks to both challenge and expand the label, Asian American. The SBYC directs its energy into projects that go far beyond the stereotypes of wealth, acquisition, and status associated with its location, and focuses on empowerment and social justice. Crucially, the organization recognizes the multi-ethnic, multi-racial, and multi-class components of its community. We hear about the kinds of events and activities that characterize this important and vital organization.Koa is a former youth member and summer fellow of South Bay Youth Changemakers. They are currently an undergraduate student in their senior year at UCSD. A special interest of theirs is disability justice and intersectional health. Supriya is a former youth member of South Bay Youth Changemakers. She is a freshman in college majoring in Psychology. They're a fan of internet art culture, and are interested in fair accommodations at school and work, and in labor justice—she believes people shouldn't have to work their lives away.Amulya is co-Director of South Bay Youth Changemakers. Her background is in labor organizing with the UAW, and in organizing against gender-based violence in higher ed.

In Part 2 of this fiery and revealing conversation, Tom Bilyeu and Michael Malice turn their attention to the deeper forces shaping Western culture—education, elite power, AI, and the challenges of the digital age. Malice blasts the university system as the true “villains of our time,” tracing their role in producing ideologically homogenous elites and fueling social division. The discussion moves seamlessly from indoctrination in higher ed to the implications of Marxism, the shifting Overton window, and how mass cultural narratives are formed and manipulated. This half is packed with debate-worthy takes on antisemitism, populist movements, the dangers of artificial intelligence, and the existential threat posed by mass boredom in a post-economic world. Malice and Bilyeu tackle big questions about identity, tribalism, and the collapse of shared reality, before ending on a wild—and hilarious—tangent about tradeoffs and protein bars. If you want clarity on why our institutions feel broken and what might happen next, Part 2 will leave you thinking (and laughing) long after the episode ends. 00:00 Intro 02:29 Marxism, egalitarianism, and cultural bifurcation 04:35 Cultural shifts, earnestness vs. revolution, and memory-holed leftism 06:33 The dangers of social conformity and shifting the Overton window 09:02 Can universities be reined in? Today's Headlines: Hamas returned the bodies of four more Israeli hostages after Israel accused them of dragging their feet on the peace deal and threatened to slash humanitarian aid. Two American hostages' remains are still missing. Trump's foreign policy victory lap took a turn when he threatened to cut aid to Argentina if voters don't reelect his ally Javier Milei—right after the U.S. basically bailed out Argentina's economy. Meanwhile, the U.S. military struck another “drug boat” off Venezuela, killing six, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth tried (and failed) to force journalists to sign gag agreements for Pentagon access—OANN was the only one to comply. Over at DHS, Secretary Kristi Noem produced an airport PSA blaming Democrats for the government shutdown, violating the Hatch Act so hard that airports are refusing to air it. Trump posthumously gave the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Charlie Kirk, then revoked visas for six foreigners who allegedly mocked his death. A leak of 28,000 messages from Young Republican leaders exposed months of racist, antisemitic, and violent rants—including one participant who works in the Trump administration. President Trump's so-called "100% tariffs" on China weren't some patriotic flex, they were the globalist trigger for the biggest crypto bloodbath ever, flushing $19 billion in leveraged longs down the drain while BlackRock vampires and their Mossad whales shorted the market for billions, leaving 1.6 million goyim traders ruined and suicidal in the rubble. But amid the carnage, where Bitcoin cratered 21% to $101K and altcoins got eviscerated 80-99%, J Proof stood unbreakable under my iron grip, proving it's the only fortress against these Rothschild engineered resets designed to centralize control and crush the decentralized dream for their endless fiat hell. Donald Trump waltzed into the Knesset like a whipped dog, boasting about funneling American bombs to Netanyahu's diaper army while Miriam Adelson's blood money keeps him leashed for the Greater Israel land grab. This spectacle, complete with Huckabee's "Sweet Home Jerusalem" crooning, is just the latest humiliation ritual proving Washington's a Zionist occupied hellhole, bleeding our sons for Talmudic demons hellbent on the Third Temple and Antichrist. In this episode, Dan and Jason discuss their recent hunting experiences, focusing on youth hunting, the importance of starting young hunters off right, and the use of trail cameras and mock scrapes. They delve into the shifting deer movement patterns, the influence of social media on hunting expectations, and the realities of the October lull. The conversation emphasizes the joy of hunting, the evolution of hunting practices, and the importance of community engagement in the hunting world. takeaways Chasing mule deer can be more about the experience than the kill. Youth hunting is a great way to introduce kids to the sport. Starting young hunters with does can build their confidence. Trail cameras and mock scrapes are essential tools for tracking deer. Deer movement patterns shift with the seasons and environmental changes. Social media can create unrealistic expectations for hunters. Enjoying the hunt is more important than the size of the deer. The October lull is often misunderstood; deer are still active. It's okay to hunt for meat and for trophies. Community engagement and sharing experiences enhance the hunting culture. The assassination of Charlie Kirk is a blatant hoax cooked up by Zionist handlers in Israel, who blew him up with an exploding lavalier microphone just like they did to Hezbollah leaders with those pagers, same playbook, same radical Jews pulling the strings on our puppet government. Every doctored video, absurd patsy story, and suppressed eyewitness account is designed to bury the truth and pit Americans against each other, but we're awake now, exposing Netanyahu's occupation of America one lie at a time. Our Chief Asia Economist Chetan Ahya discusses how youth unemployment will impact future growth and stability across China, India, and Indonesia.Read more insights from Morgan Stanley.----- Transcript ----- Welcome to Thoughts on the Market. I'm Chetan Ahya, Morgan Stanley's Chief Asia Economist. Today – Asia's young workforce is facing a significant challenge. How a soft labor market will shape everything from consumer demand to social stability and long-term growth. It's Tuesday, October 14th, at 2pm in Hong Kong. Across Asia, a concerning trend is emerging. The region's younger generations face mounting challenges in the job market. Asia's youth unemployment averages 16 percent, which is much higher than the U.S. rate of 10.5 percent. Youth unemployment rates are running two to three times higher than headline unemployment rates. The underlying situation is even weaker than what is represented by [the] unemployment rate. And within Asia, the challenge is most acute in China, India, and Indonesia, the three most populous economies. Youth unemployment rates for these three economies are running close to double, as compared to other economies in Asia. Now let's take a closer look at China. The urban youth unemployment rate, i.e. for 16–24-year-olds, has steadily increased since 2019. What's driving this rise in unemployment? A mismatch in labor demand and supply. The number of university graduates surged 40 percent over the last five years to close to 12 million. But economy-wide employment has declined by 20 million over the same period. Entry-level wages are sluggish, and automation plus subdued services growth mean fewer opportunities for newer entrants. Turning to India, their unemployment rate is the highest in the region at 17.6 percent. Employment creation has been subdued. And on top of it, India also faces another issue: underemployment. Post-COVID, primary sector – i.e. farming and mining – employment rose by 50 million, reaching a 17-year high. Note that these jobs are relatively low productivity jobs. And this is explained by the fact that [the] primary sector now accounts for less than 20 percent of GDP but it employs about 40 percent of the workforce. That's a sign of COVID-induced underemployment. How fast must growth be to tackle the unemployment challenge? In our base case, India's GDP will grow at an average of 6.5 percent over the coming decade – and this will mean that India will be one of the fastest-growing economies globally. But this pace of growth will not be sufficient to generate enough jobs. To keep [the] unemployment rate stable, India needs an average GDP growth of close to 7.5 percent; and to address underemployment, the required run rate in GDP growth must be even higher at 12 percent. Shifting to Indonesia, its youth unemployment rate is the second highest in the region. Moreover, close to 60 percent of jobs are in the informal sector. And many of these jobs pay below minimum wage. Similar to India, both these trends signal underemployment. The key reason behind this challenge is weak investment growth. Indonesia's investment-to-GDP ratio has dropped meaningfully over the last five years. So, what's the way forward? For China, shifting towards consumption and services could reduce labor market mismatches. And for India and Indonesia, boosting investment is key. India in particular needs much stronger growth in its industrial and exports sectors. If reforms fall short, policy makers may need to fall back on increasing social welfare spending to manage social stability risks. Thanks for listening. On the evening of January 27, 2001, Roxana Verona arrived at the Etna, NH home of her friends Half and Susanne Zantop for a dinner the couple had planned with friends that night. When no one answered the door, Verona entered the home and found the brutalized bodies of Half and Susanne, both dead from multiple stab wounds. The murder of the Zantops shocked the tiny community of Etna and the faculty and students of Dartmouth College, where the couple worked at the time of their deaths. The murder baffled local police, who had very little experience with violent crime, much less murder. The first few weeks of the investigation were hampered by an overwhelming number of unhelpful tips from the public and considerable time was wasted on chasing false leads. When investigators finally caught up with the killers nearly a month later, their identities were not at all what anyone was expecting, and their motive for the murder made even less sense.ResourcesBelkin, Douglas, and Lois Shea. 2001.
