We discuss the findings of the China Select Committee on April 16th in the House of Representatives in DC and share the confirmation that the CCP is intentionally manufacturing fentanyl and shipping it through Mexico into the US killing 76,000 of our children in 2022.For perspective, according to National Archives, between 1955-1975, over 58,220 men and women were killed in the Vietnam War - a 20 year period.According to the FBI Crime Data Explorer, in 2022 covering 75% of the US population, 15,047 homicides were recorded by law enforcement agencies. It is estimated that in 2023 more than 100,000 young people in the US were killed by fentanyl in counterfeit pills or added to marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and other drugs with either partial or complete fentanyl. Pills that resemble Xanax, Oxycotin, Adderall, Percocet and others are killing our young people within minutes because all these are counterfeit pills and that person has no idea what is in them. Please, please educate yourself and your family. On today's show, Puck opens up talking about the Mariners and what a great series it was vs. the Reds and how Julio has not let his slow start at the plate translate to the field. Now, they head to Colorado where they can get fat and happy in the elevation and against a bad baseball team. Puck doesn't understand what Mike Macdonald is doing by taking down pictures of past players in the facility. Why wouldn't you embrace your championship past. Dumb move, says Puck. Trevor Bauer deserves a second chance after a second woman who accused him of sexual assault is now being charged with defrauding him. Bauer may not be liked by many, but he now has proved that he didn't assault a second woman and it appears all these allegations against him are false and someone needs to let him back in the MLB. Puck says stop being outraged by the WNBA salaries. The leagues revenue is $60M, compared to the NBA which is $7.4B. The league doesn't generate money, so why should they be paid more by the league? Caitlin Clark earns over $3.5M in endorsements. So, despite her making just $76K, she's going to be ok. Can't we all just have an owner like Steve Ballmer?  The Clippers owner covered the entire concessions for his fans on the final home game of the season. That's what an owner is supposed to do. The amount of goodwill he just earned from his fans will pay off for years to come. Lastly, Jontay Porter banned from the NBA for life for betting on himself and games. Good that the league caught this and the gaming industry. People don't realize there are so many checks and balances with this and the league caught it. This doesn't mean we need to stop gambling on sports. No entity more than the gaming industry wants this all to be handled on the up and up. Porter made over $20k on bets and that amount cost him his career. Shifting Inside Out

Fulfillment = slow down to speed upI used to claim my ability to multi-task as a superpower. In reality, this method of working drained me, left me feeling unfulfilled and a bit disconnected.  I would rush through tasks and projects in the same way instead of really putting a lot of thought and attention to what mattered most.  I would leave work with open items that didn't get closed out which made me feel unfulfilled.  What I didn't realize for a long time is this approach is draining and impacts not being able to fully engage all of my gifts. When I would take the time to fully immerse in a new idea, strategy, or solution to a problem, I was able to utilize the gifts that would bring those to reality. This is because several studies have shown that high multitaskers experience greater problems focusing on important and complicated tasks, memory impairment of new subject matter, difficulty learning new material, and increased stress levels. The real superpower was capacity which is very different then being able to switch gears left and right across multiple things at the same time.  Mental, emotional and creative capacity plus a the best class I ever took (typing in high school) offered much more of a superpower.  But how to use this fully vs. just multi-tasking chaos.I did formulate over the years a great skill around prioritization which relieved some of the pressure of getting everything done right away.  I started asking for and giving clarity on what was actually urgent vs. not, and when something needed to be done in reality.  In our world of feeling the pressure to respond right away, complete everything on our plate by end of day and depending on others to get anything done (meaning we are not in full control) it can be overwhelming, chaotic and unnecessary.A few years ago I started to time block on my calendar during my most creative and productive times in the day.  That was my sacred space and I started to put more focus and creativity in things I was navigating or projects I was bringing to life.  I also found that context shifting was killing me mentally.  I had a variety of areas of responsibility, teams, skills and outputs that had me shifting all day long from meeting to meeting and email to email.  Short conversations, shorter email responses and pushing myself to meet deadlines regardless of how many hours I worked was absolutely not fulfilling.I started grouping things together based on area in both my calendar/meetings and topics to focus on. This kept me in that mental focus for more than just an hour at a time.  I tried to schedule 1:1's with my team in chunks so I could be in listening mode more effectively.  There were many adjustments that definitely helped!  However, I didn't realize how much more productive and effective I could be if I had discipline around focus, intention and attention.I slowed down, got rid of the everything is urgent mentality, clarified expectations (an gave myself a break) and set boundaries to provide space to actually be more productive. This also allowed me to strengthen my other gifts like bringing in new ideas, planning more holistically into the future, and more strategically outline effective plans. Back to multi-tasking chaos.  Shifting the mind all day long from one task to the next actually goes against its natural desire to keep things simple and preserve the body. And studies show that switching from one task to the next takes a serious toll on productivity by as much as 40 percent. Multitaskers have more trouble tuning out distractions than people who focus on one task at a time. Doing so many things at once can actually impair cognitive ability. While our subconscious mind is processing at least 134 bits per second of information, our conscious mind can only take in about 7 +/- 2 pieces of information. The brain is not meant to multitask.Switching from one task to another makes it difficult to tune out distractions and can cause mental blocks that can slow you down. I found this was even more so when my responsibilities spread across many different parts of the business. Switching context all day, whether it was calls, meetings, creating, or conversations with team members for each of those areas was exhausting. There are some tasks that we are robotic about and can do with our eyes closed and without thought, but with so much information coming in visually and audibly, it can be overwhelming. This is because in the brain, multitasking is managed by executive functions. These control and manage cognitive processes and determine how, when, and in what order certain tasks are performed. According to Meyer, Evans, and Rubinstein,[1] there are two stages to the executive control process, (1) goal shifting: deciding to do one thing instead of another, and (2) role activation: changing from the rules for the previous task to rules for the new task.  Part of the issue of multitasking is the start of the day when we pick up our phones after opening our eyes for the first time. Our minds start going and we start feeling the pressure to get everything done that we need to do. New to-dos start overriding the plan we created the night before, and we lose control before the day even starts. Another area is meetings or video calls. This is not a new issue due to remote working, but it already existed in physical group meetings too. Laptop open, email open, and guess what's going on? Half-listening while looking at email, creating documents, booking travel, or other tasks needing the brain. After leaving a meeting where critical information was shared, I've repeatedly seen someone start asking, “So what's going on with this program (or issue)?” If they would have just listened in the meeting and avoided the other distractions, they would be fully informed. Instead, it was obvious they were not listening. This can create major disconnects, especially in a very fast-paced environment.  When we look at the impact multitasking has on decisions, it's also clear that the brain gets fatigued and it becomes challenging to make the best decisions. If we are distracted, we take in half of the information. If we are tired, we can't process it well. If we are overwhelmed, we shortchange the potential impact of our abilities and our gifts.  When I started writing my book I set myself a goal of writing 2k words a day, 4 days a week.  When I started writing I put my phone in a different place, did not have email open and had only my writing in front of me.  I realize now that the exercise of being committed and dedicating 100% focus and attention on writing created discipline in me.  This was a huge aha moment.  I started my book May 6, 2021 and finished July 26, 2021 (76K words, 35 chapters) minus a couple of weeks I did not write.  Being able to fully immerse ourselves into a project, creation, solution, problem we are solving, etc. allows us to deliver something more effective, in a more timely manner AND best of all, we feel fulfillment at the end of the day.  I've adapted this practice in my business by grouping things together that take a skill or thought process to complete, prioritize over and over to ensure I'm working on THE most important items and give myself permission to put things aside that are not necessary so I can give my full attention to the things that are relevant. Slowing down to speed up is a skill, discipline and benefit!  Take a look at your day, personal processes, have a conversation with your boss on ‘what is necessary', set boundaries around your response time, time block your best creative and productive times of day and allow yourself to get focused (giving full attention) to the big things. Here are a few tips from my book on this topic in the Multi-tasking Insanity section Make the Shift. To become more productive through less multitasking insanity:·       Use the “twenty-minute rule” and stick to each task for at least twenty minutes before shifting.·       Limit the number of things you juggle at any given time to two.·       Invest time into prioritizing and re-prioritizing so you don't feel the pressure to do it all at once.·       Take a quick assessment of the various things you are trying to accomplish if you catch yourself multitasking and need to be productive.·       Eliminate distractions and try to focus on one task at a time. This includes allocating time slots in the day for email review rather than constantly looking at it. Turn off your notifications.·       Create more structure in your work by performing highly creative tasks in the morning, and then take a short break before moving on to each different task.

In addition, the panel expects the price of the king crypto to reach $192,800 in 2025 and $406,400 in 2030. While several panelists said that “increasing interest rates will negatively impact the cryptocurrency market,” some believe that it is time to buy BTC, including Finder's founder, Fred Schebesta. These complaints have been happening since 2017-2018 but World Athletics did not give a more clear answer until January 2020.[5] The major changes of these guidelines state that the "sole must be no thicker than 40mm" and that "the shoe must not contain more than one rigid embedded plate or blade (of any material) that runs either the full length or only part of the length of the shoe. The plate may be in more than one part but those parts must be located sequentially in one plane (not stacked or in parallel) and must not overlap".[4] The components of the shoes are not the only thing that had major changes; starting April 30, 2020, "any shoe must have been available for purchase by any athlete on the open retail market (online or in store) for a period of four months before it can be used in competition".     1/1/2020 - The Nike Vaporfly Just Survived a Potential Ban World Athletics (track and field's governing body, formerly the International Association of Athletics Federations) made its highly anticipated announcement on the regulation of running shoe technology. Although there had been rumors in recent weeks—aggravated by several bogus news stories—that the organization was planning on making Nike's coveted Vaporfly Next% racing shoe illegal in elite competition, this does not appear to be the case.   Rather, World Athletics will be prohibiting the use of shoe prototypes in competition. (This is a good idea.) The new rule states: “From 30 April 2020, any shoe must have been available for purchase by any athlete on the open retail market (online or in store) for a period of four months before it can be used in competition. If a shoe is not openly available to all then it will be deemed a prototype and use of it in competition will not be permitted.”   Additionally, World Athletics has issued an “immediate moratorium” on any shoe that has a heel stack height of more than 40 millimeters and more than “one rigid embedded plate or blade (of any material).”   Placing a limit on sole thickness has been one of the proposed solutions on how to best regulate shoe technology going forward. The breakthrough innovation of Nike's original Vaporfly 4% shoe, released in 2017, was that it combined a carbon fiber plate with an unusually thick (over 30 millimeters) super lightweight Pebax foam midsole. Some fear that if this design development goes unchecked, racing shoes might veer towards the farcical; imagine future runners bounding along in airy platform shoes.   Make no mistake, the new 40-millimeter limit is not arbitrary. The maximum stack height of Nike's Vaporfly Next% is usually reported at around 36 millimeters, and therefore sneaks under the new threshold. However, the shoes that Eliud Kipchoge wore when he became the first man to run a marathon in under two hours last year in Vienna (code name: “AlphaFly”) are potentially well over the limit, although Nike has not provided any data since the shoe hasn't been released.    12/23/21 - World Athletics has approved new shoe rules and regulations for competition. The new rules have brought a major update to the future of the sport, as athletes will not be allowed to wear shoes that have over a 20mm stack height during competition. This rule is set to be implemented in November 2024, which is after the Paris Summer Olympics and the 2024 Diamond League season.   The previous rule was 20mm stack height for sprint and hurdle events up to 400m and 25mm for events 800m and above. The sport has seen a technological revolution in footwear over the past 10 years, but with new innovations come challenges to maintain a fair level of competition.     What's New in the 303:   How to help Boulder County fire victims Several organizations are collecting donations to help people affected by Thursday's devastating wildfire in Boulder County.   The Marshall Fire has destroyed more than 500 homes and burned more than 1,600 acres as of Thursday evening. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated as the fire spreads through the Superior, Louisville and Broomfield areas.   Several Colorado nonprofits are collecting funds to help people affected by the fires. A few things stood out to me in 2021: Events were back! The joy of seeing in-person events back is hard to put into words. The energy, camaraderie, competition. And what an events season it was. Everyone in our community – race directors, coaches, clubs, officials, volunteers and athletes – continuing to work tirelessly to bring our sport back from the depths of 2020. The Olympics and Paralympics were historic with US athletes taking home the most medals of any country. Such awe-inspiring performances, in the face of so much adversity and uncertainty. Together, We Thrive. This year was full of incredible people doing equally incredible things to make our sport and community more diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible. We look forward to working with people across the country to amplify voices, celebrate successes and use multisport for what it is truly all about – bringing people together.   There is no doubt 2022 and beyond will bring us a future brighter than it ever has been. And that future has been created by you. So I thank you – for all you've done, continue to do, and will do; for challenging USA Triathlon to be the best organization it can be; for never backing down in the face of an incredibly trying 20 months; for giving all of yourself to our sport and community.   Morgan Pearson and Inside Wrapper   Closing: Merry Christmas!  Be sure to tell us your favorites from 2021! Thanks again for listening in this week.  Please be sure to follow us @303endurance and of course go to iTunes and give us a rating and a comment.  We'd really appreciate it! Before Tokyo's Revenge would have over 76K followers on SoundCloud, nearly 14K followers on Twitter, 192K followers on Instagram, and 205K subscribers on YouTube at the time of this recording. Tokyo's Revenge isn't your typical Tik Tok star. This rising star in the rap scene has chosen to keep almost all of his personal information to himself after appearing seemingly out of nowhere in 2018 with an aggressive style that has many people calling him the next XXXTENTACION even though he really hates all comparisons he hears about himself, especially from some very specific sources. Two years ago, Tokyo's Revenge was homeless, but today he's riding high off the backup of his breakout single “GOODMORNINGTOKYO!” a viral hit that's peaked on Spotify's Global Viral 50 and Rolling Stone's Trending 25 charts at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively. In fact, this up-and-coming rapper has found such massive success with the track on TikTok, it's been used in more than a million individual videos already and counting!

Abstract: The initial activation step in gating of ubiquitously expressed Orai1 Calcium (Ca2+) ion channels represents the store-dependent coupling to the Ca2+ sensor protein STIM1. An array of constitutively active Orai1 mutants gave rise to the hypothesis that STIM1 mediated Orai1 pore opening is accompanied by a global conformational change of all Orai TM helices within the channel complex. Here, we prove that a local conformational change spreads omnidirectionally within the Orai1 complex. Our results demonstrate that a global, opening-permissive allosteric communication of TM helices is indispensable for pore opening and requires clearance of a series of Orai1 gating checkpoints. We discovered these gating checkpoints in middle and cytosolic extended TM domain regions. Our findings are based on a library of double point mutants that contain each one loss-of-function (LoF) with one gain-of-function (GoF) point mutation in a series of possible combinations. We demonstrated that an array of LoF mutations act dominant over most GoF mutations within the same as well as of an adjacent Orai subunit. We further established inter- and intramolecular salt-bridge interactions of Orai subunits as a core element of an opening-permissive Orai channel architecture. Collectively, clearance and synergistic action of all these gating checkpoints is required to allow STIM1 coupling and Orai1 pore opening. Crafting A Voice That Carries Positive Influence You could make an argument that Rachel Holtin is one of Austin’s original social media influencers. Her Instagram account, AustinFoodstagram, and her blog by the same name have attracted a cult-like following. Then again, Rachel is quick to point out that the good old-fashioned game of influence has been played since the beginning of time. It’s just the platforms that have changed, in today’s digital age. “The term ‘influencer’ has existed for a long time.” she said. “People have always taken advice from friends, family, even celebrities. Now, with social media, you have online friends, people you relate to, whose opinions you trust for purchasing decisions or events to attend.” As a pioneering voice in the local social media scene, Holtin has turned what was once a hobby, into a full-fledged business. From networking and business planning to storytelling and content strategy planned months in advance, it’s safe to say that Rachel has earned every one of her 76K+ followers. And now, with the advent of Verb.me, she and her co-founders are helping others do the same. Verb is a marketplace that pairs brands with local influencers inside of a platform that Holtin says, “eliminates a lot of the unnecessary friction in the outreach process.” In this episode of Voices of Impact, we get into all of that and we explore Rachel’s brand new project, Showcase. We talk about courage, creativity and paying attention to life’s subtle cues. And Rachel shares how she’s using her voice and her platform to effect positive influence in the local community.

Fran Dunaway, co-founder and CEO of TomboyX, is an atypical leader. A humble and curious activist at heart, she's grown her women's apparel and accessories company at an amazing pace by being inclusive and focusing on previously underrepresented groups. As sales grow, new markets are discovering TomboyX and Fran finds ways to incorporate the needs of these demographics into her products. "This brand is for the people...the brand that helps people express who they are," she says in this Real Leaders podcast. Nowhere was this more obvious than in their initial Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign which raised $76K in 30 days. Clearly people saw something different and special and wanted to be part of it. Starting out as a clothing line and targeting the LGBTQ community via Facebook, TomboyX has decided to increase its emphasis on underwear, focusing on the huge success of its line of women’s boxer brief. The timing was perfect as a tide of acceptance for gay and transgender rights began to sweep mainstream culture and media. The company's development has mirrored these cultural changes by listening to customers. Fran says, "We're evolving in tandem...I don't feel like we're necessarily leading the charge, we're just paying attention." A two-time cancer survivor, Fran is no stranger to the tenacity required to build an early-stage company like TomboyX. "Nothing is more terrifying than starting your own business." She finds fulfillment in celebrating differences - different bodies, different careers, and different lifestyles. Find out how adaptability, inclusion and simple kindness have poised TomboyX to revolutionize the women's undergarment industry.
