Back in episode 154/155, JP told us about her marriage to a man she now simply calls "exhole." We left that story mid-sentence — she was still deep in the trenches of her divorce, and we promised to bring her back once it was over. It's over now.But "over" doesn't mean what you'd think. What follows is a year-long descent into a family court system that JP says is built to protect abusers, not survivors — and a masterclass in exactly how far a narcissist will go to win.⚖️ A biased judge who tells the victim to pay HER abuser

SHOW NOTES In this episode, Mike and I discussed: How AI image editing helps his team solve real client challenges — from removing private artwork and family photos before sharing project images, to swapping out unlicensed content on screens. How he uses simple ChatGPT prompts to turn a designer's scale elevation drawing into side-by-side visuals, helping clients make decisions faster and reducing costly change-orders after installation. And how Bethesda Systems is building an AI culture from the ground up, including weekly leadership meetings with hands-on AI demos and shared licenses across the team. What makes this conversation so valuable is that Mike doesn't call himself an AI expert — and that's exactly the point. He's a business owner who started with simple experiments and turned them into practical tools that improve margins and client communication. Whether you're already experimenting with AI or just trying to understand where to begin, you're going to get a lot of value from this conversation. So settle in and enjoy my conversation with Mike Wilson. Let's get started! Build the Coaching Practice You're Called to Build | EP 253

The Financial Coaches Podcast

One of the first questions many financial coaches wrestle with is also one of the hardest: How can I charge people for coaching when they are already struggling with money? That question can lead coaches to believe they must choose between the people they genuinely want to serve and the clients who appear most able to pay. But building a practice around the wrong people simply because they seem more profitable can create a business that feels disconnected from the coach—and from the clients they are trying to help. In this Financial Coaches Classic, Maria and Cody talk about why a sustainable coaching practice begins with being honest about who you want to serve and the kind of work you want to do. Cody shares what his first year in coaching actually looked like, why choosing the quickest path to revenue may not create lasting success, and how financial coaching can become an investment that helps clients move forward rather than another expense holding them back. They also explore practical ways to make coaching accessible without undervaluing the work, including group programs, assistant coaches, church partnerships, employer-sponsored coaching, and other creative arrangements. You do not necessarily have to abandon the people you care about serving in order to build a viable practice. You may need patience, clarity, and creativity—but those are very different from compromise.

It is easy to convince yourself that you need more before you can begin building your financial coaching practice. A better website. More software. Additional training. More confidence. Maybe just a little more money. In this revisit of an earlier conversation, Cody and Maria talk about what it means to start with the resources already available to you. They explore how limitations can encourage creativity, why an imperfect system does not have to keep you from serving people, and how your practice can grow as your experience and resources grow. They also discuss the value of investing in your own development without believing that you need the most expensive program—or every tool imaginable—before working with your first client. The point is not to remain where you begin. It is to stop waiting for everything to be perfect before you take the first step.

Robert Saleh built this 49ers defense. He knows what a pass rusher looks like before the rest of us do. And at the American Century Championship, he went on record with a name nobody expected — Alfred Collins. Not Mykel Williams. Not CJ West. The second-round pick who finished his rookie year with a 35.0 PFF grade and the lowest marks on the entire defense. Saleh called him the biggest surprise of the draft class and said flat out — "When it triggers for him, he's going to be a bear to stop." We're going LIVE to figure out what Saleh saw that the box score didn't. Because if he's right, and Collins takes the leap Year 2 alongside Odighizuwa and a healthy Mykel Williams, this defensive line goes from the biggest question mark on the roster to one of its most dangerous weapons. Send us Fan MailIn 2026, American whiskey isn't riding the wave it was five years ago, and every major producer knows it. For a brand the size of Jack Daniel's, that shift raises a harder question: how do you keep innovating when the whole world already thinks it knows you? Success at that scale can actually work against you; when everyone's already tried the whiskey, it's easy to get stuck on mute.In this episode of the Park Street Insider Podcast, Chris Fletcher, Master Distiller at Jack Daniel's, takes the stage for a talk recorded live at the Park Street University stage in Brooklyn. He breaks down how Jack Daniel's has built its innovation strategy around protecting Old No. 7 while still carving out new space, from small-batch distillery-only experiments, to the record-setting proof of the Coy Hill single barrel releases, to reviving age-stated whiskeys Jack Daniel himself sold over a century ago. From the double-edged sword of brand recognition to what real transparency looks like on the production floor, this one is packed with insight into how an American icon stays ahead of a changing market.Park Street Imports is the back-office and importing solution for alcoholic beverage brands launching and scaling in the U.S. market.Featured Guests:Chris Fletcher, Master Distiller, Jack Daniel'sMentioned in the Episode:Jack Daniel'sWant to stay in the know about new episodes from the podcast? Have you ever had someone who seemed genuinely interested in coaching...but never quite took the next step? In this episode, Cody shares the story of a couple who stayed connected with him for more than two years before finally becoming clients. Along the way, they signed up for webinars, ignored follow-up messages, declined coaching after a consultation, and nearly walked away more than once. Rather than forcing the process, Cody recognized that something deeper was keeping them from moving forward. What followed wasn't a new sales technique. It was a thoughtful adjustment to his coaching process that gave the couple the confidence they needed to begin. As Cody and Maria unpack the story, they explore when it makes sense to get creative, how to recognize fear behind hesitation, and why serving people well sometimes means meeting them where they are instead of expecting them to fit neatly into your process. If you've ever wondered whether a prospect wasn't interested—or simply wasn't ready—this conversation offers a perspective worth considering.

If you know nothing else about women’s hockey, you probably know Hilary Knight. The 5-time Olympic medalist has played the most games in U.S. Women’s Hockey history. She has also served as the captain of two PWHL teams and is one of the reasons the league exists in the first place. In 2019, Hilary was among several players who vowed to boycott any North American league that was not financially sustainable. In 2022, the players entered into a partnership with Mark Walter and Billie Jean King to launch the PWHL. Four years later, the league is selling out games at MSG and accepting a $100 million investment. In this episode of The Deal, Hilary details for Jason and Alex the process of starting a league where players were partners from the jump and why Mark Walter and Billie Jean King were the right people to work with. She also explains how the momentum from this year’s Olympics bled into the PWHL season and why Heated Rivalry is one of the best things to ever happen to hockey. Finally, she shares her hopes for her post-playing career (spoiler alert! she wants to own a team) and the responsibility of being the face of her sport. Plus, Alex shares a business idea and tells Hilary why she reminds him of NBA Hall of Famer Grant Hill.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Freedom means something different to every client. For some, it's eliminating unwanted debt. For others, it's creating margin, reducing stress, or simply believing that financial peace is possible again. As financial coaches, our role isn't to hand every client the same formula. It's to meet people where they are and help them get to where they want to go. In this episode, Cody and Maria use the Debt Snowball and the Debt Avalanche as the starting point for a much bigger conversation. They discuss the strengths of each approach, explore when a hybrid strategy may make sense, and explain why understanding the client always comes before choosing the method. The episode also begins with a special milestone. As we celebrate the 250th episode of THE Financial Coaches Podcast, Cody shares an exciting announcement: beginning this month, THE Financial Coaches Monthly Meetup is free to attend. Whether you're a new coach or have been serving clients for years, this conversation is a reminder that great coaching begins with the person, not the problem.

Episode 4063: Cal Newport challenges the popular advice that success begins with immediate action, arguing that rushing to start often leads to wasted effort and abandoned ambitions. By exploring survivor bias, long periods of exploration, and the power of sustained diligence, he makes the case that the most successful people carefully vet pursuits before committing deeply enough to see them through. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://www.calnewport.com/blog/2008/06/27/dangerous-ideas-getting-started-is-overrated/ Quotes to ponder: "The most important thing you can do is to get started!" "Steve Martin noted that the key to becoming really good at something (so good that they can't ignore you), is diligence, which he defines as effort over time to the exclusion of other pursuits." "My advice: resist starting. Spend lots of time learning about different pursuits, but put off action until an idea begins to haunt your daydreams and refuses to be dislodged from your aspirational psyche." Ken pushes back on fans crying hypocrisy over the NFL's gambling partners, arguing personal responsibility still applies even if Sorsby was technically a legal adult when the betting happened. He contrasts the public reaction to Sorsby with Maurice Clarett two decades ago, noting Clarett was treated sympathetically despite his own violations while Sorsby has become an unsympathetic villain simply because he's already been paid. Ken predicts Sorsby goes on a PR offensive with workout videos and "changed man" messaging, betting that every bad outing from Julian Sayin or LaNorris Sellers only keeps his name in the conversation. He closes by floating that the real distinction here may be that Sorsby is a quarterback, a position the league seems far less willing to gamble on than a wide receiver.
