Everything we're learning now strongly suggests that Donald Trump's war is about to get worse. First, officials leaked word to The Washington Post that the Pentagon and the White House are likely to demand $200 billion more from Congress. Trump sort of confirmed this in remarks to reporters while adding some unsettling additional threats of unspecified military action. Second, sources told Reuters that Trump is considering the deployment of thousands of troops on the ground. All this means that when Trump asks Congress for more money, the pressure on lawmakers to do something about this madness will intensify. We interviewed Congressman Adam Smith, the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee. He illuminatingly explains why Trump's war is going very badly and why these newly leaked plans are “frightening.” Smith also flatly declares that no Democrats should agree to fund another dime for Trump's war, and vows that if Democrats win the majority, Trump's handling of the war will face vigorous investigations. Gravitational Wave observatory LIGO has seen a signature that looks like the merger of primordial (pre-stellar, big bang (not big band!) era) black holes. If confirmed with future observations, this would tell us a lot about the early universe and potentially shed light on dark matter. Finally! Plus, closer to home, the BLOBs in the Earth's mantle help us untangle the complicated past of our magnetic field.
Author, teacher, and former principal dancer Gavin Larsen has spent her post-performance life doing something she loves just as much as dancing: drawing stories out of other people. Her new book, Infinite Steps: 33 Dancers and Their Lives in Ballet, grew out of a collaboration with longtime ABT staff photographer Gene Ciavone, who wanted the dancers behind his archive of images to be truly known, not just catalogued. In this conversation, Gavin sits down with us to talk about what surprised her while interviewing 33 dancers across generations and companies, why she thinks the Plan B conversation puts unfair pressure on students, and what she believes is the real cost of a ballet career that doesn't get talked about nearly enough. Hint: it's not the blisters. She also shares her take on the job market then versus now, what parents consistently get wrong, and why she finds it genuinely hopeful that kids keep walking into plain rooms, leaving their phones outside, and putting their ballet shoes on. You're showing up to your workouts. You're sweating. You're trying to stay consistent. So why aren't you seeing results? In this episode of the Her Healthy Body Podcast, we break down one of the most common mistakes women make when trying to lose weight: doing more and more intense workouts while their nutrition, recovery, and metabolism can't keep up. Many women train like athletes while living real life — raising kids, sleeping less, managing stress, and trying to stay consistent with their nutrition and fitness. We talk about why more effort isn't always better, how too much intensity can slow your metabolism, and why fewer, more intentional workouts combined with supportive nutrition often lead to better results. If you're trying to lose weight, improve your metabolism, and finally stay consistent with your workouts, this episode will help you rethink what actually works. How can we change the structural incentives that keep people in their cars? Hint: the answer is not bigger roads. In this episode, Raul and John discuss why hiring an agency feels risky today—cost, quality, outcomes, and commoditized “SEO/PPC shop” buying—then explore a shift toward providing open-ended marketing leadership focused on strategy, positioning, and execution using a mix of people, AI, automation, and outside resources. They argue project fees don't fit a fast-changing landscape and consider retainers plus tool costs, while noting some work (like nailing brand positioning) can justify value-based pricing. They cover AI's rapid acceleration, tool churn, and potential skill loss, alongside likely disruption to entry-level roles, and suggest human relationships will become more valuable in high-stakes B2B selling. John shares positioning lessons from customer interviews, a case study creating a sales/brand playbook used for onboarding, and examples of “marketing-adjacent” AI work that helps sales operations.00:00 Do Agencies Still Matter?01:18 What Clients Really Want02:29 Marketing Leadership Model04:57 Post Scope Era Pricing06:52 AI Velocity And Tool Overload09:00 Value Based Fees And Retainers12:09 Skill Loss And Disruption15:01 Meaning Work And Removing Toil17:51 Human Connection Comes Back22:18 Proof Points vs Positioning22:55 Cloud Consulting Case Study25:13 Tagline to Sales Playbook26:52 Using AI for Messaging28:25 Positioning Is for Buyers29:18 When Positioning Doesn't Land30:49 Marketing Isn't Just Opinion32:39 Revenue as the Validator33:39 AI Adjacent Opportunities36:58 Relationships in a Tech World39:12 Loyalty Means Real Dollars40:59 Lifetime Value Marketing ModelConnect with John Schultz: https://www.netstrategies.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnschultznetstrategies/ Connect with Raul: • Work with Raul: https://dogoodwork.io/apply • Free Growth Resources: https://dogoodwork.io/free-growth-resources• Connect with Raul on LinkedIn (DMs open): https://www.linkedin.com/in/dogoodwork/

In today's Update Journal, we begin with a Weakest Link moment that raises serious questions about the state of breakfast knowledge in America—because apparently not everyone knows where to get a Rootie Tootie Fresh 'N Fruity. (Hint: it's not an ice cream shop.) From there, we travel back to 2008 to investigate Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue, a show so strange that many of us are still unsure whether it actually aired or if Cartoon Network collectively hallucinated it. And finally, United Airlines introduces a tough new rule aimed at stopping one of the most blood-boiling passenger habits known to mankind—because nothing brings society together quite like mutual irritation at the airport. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Thursday, a brazen duo – including one career criminal with dozens of prior arrests – was arrested for allegedly setting a sleeping man on fire inside Penn Station this week, authorities said.A high-ranking Jersey City official running to be a town mayor has been reassigned after humiliating footage showed him using his position to try to get out of a drunk-driving arrest — and admitting to cheating on his wife. And in Rhode Island, Catholic priests preyed on hundreds of children for decades, and were protected by bishops more concerned with the church's reputation than the victims, according to a new report on clergy sexual abuse that echoes findings elsewhere.

The best news in the Bible isn't that God has a wonderful plan for your life. It's that God has made a way to forgive your sins. That's what we are diving into this weekend as we continue our journey through Acts 13 and come to Paul's first recorded sermon. And his message is simple but world-changing:The entire story of the Bible has been pointing to Jesus.Through His life, death, and resurrection, forgiveness of sins is offered to everyone who believes. But when the gospel is preached, people always respond in one of two ways. Some receive it with joy.Others reject it.That same question still confronts us today:What will you do with Jesus? And for those who have repented and believed, we see how Paul and Barnabas risked everything to follow Jesus and are reminded that we aren't just saved by Jesus, we are also sent by Him.- Into our families- Into our workplaces- Into our neighbourhoods- And into the nationsJoin us Sunday as we continue through Acts and see how God advances His mission through His people.Think about these things before you listen to this sermon:• What two things does the Good News of Jesus bring into our lives? (Hint: verses 38-39)• Who has God placed in your life to share Jesus with in this season? Who's your “one”?Pray for these things as you go to listen:

In this episode of AI in Action, Maurie and Jim Beasley take a step back from the usual AI headlines and ask a surprising question:What is the smartest thing you can do for your child in the age of AI?The answer might not be a new tool, a new device, or even new technology at all.Instead, it may come down to something much more fundamental: learning through struggle.Maurie and Jim explore why real learning often happens at friction points, and how modern technology is designed to remove the very challenges that help our brains grow. They also discuss a new concept Jim has been experimenting with, which he calls strategic friction, a learning framework designed to intentionally test understanding rather than bypass it.Along the way, they unpack several important questions:• Why removing struggle can weaken learning• The difference between cognitive offloading and intelligent assistance• Why students must learn to articulate what they know• The overlooked advantages of rural education environments• Why parents matter more than ever in the AI era• How AI can act as part of the “village” that helps raise the next generationThis conversation challenges the idea that education must completely reinvent itself in response to AI. Instead, Maurie and Jim argue that the future of learning may come from combining timeless learning principles with smarter tools.AI is powerful. But it should not replace the struggle that helps people truly learn.
You came to nervous system work wanting calm. What you actually need is capacity. And those are not the same thing.Calm is a feeling. Capacity is a skill. And one of them you can build — no matter how full, demanding, or non-negotiable your life is right now.In this episode, I'm getting into what has become the cornerstone of everything I teach: capacity expansion. Not just stress management, not just "calm down" tools — but the actual process of expanding what your nervous system can hold.I walk through the five-step framework I use with clients and in my own life: building awareness of your early warning signals, using affect labeling to interrupt the stress response, anchoring to one go-to regulation tool, practicing pendulation to grow your window of tolerance, and choosing edge-expanding discomfort once your baseline starts to rise. This is also your first look at The Capacity Method — the program I've been building — and how to get on the waitlist. If capacity expansion is what you're here for, this episode is the place to start. What You'll LearnWhat capacity actually is (hint: it's not just stress tolerance — it's also your capacity for joy, pleasure, focus, and success)The two directions your nervous system tips when it crosses threshold — hyperarousal and hypoarousal — and how to identify which one is yoursPendulation: the somatic practice that actually expands your window of tolerance over timeWhat 'expanding at the edge' looks like in real life — and why discomfort is the mechanism, not the obstacleGet on The Capacity Method waitlist

Bible StudyDon't just take our word for it . . . take His! We would encourage you to spend time examining the following Scriptures that shaped this sermon:Sermon NotesBig IdeaThe Tabernacle shows us that God desires to dwell with His people — and that desire is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ.1. Participation — A Glad InvitationBefore giving building instructions, God invited the people to contribute materials (Exodus 25:2).They gave what God had already provided (Exodus 12).Giving was voluntary — “from every man whose heart moves him.”Covenant generosity flows from joy, not compulsion. As Paul the Apostle writes in Second Corinthians 9:7, “God loves a cheerful giver.”ApplicationEverything we have is from God.Generosity is not the duty of a slave, but the privilege of a lover. If joy is missing, examine the heart — not just the habit.2. Pattern — Nearness and HolinessThe structure of the Tabernacle (courtyard → holy place → Most Holy Place) reveals two truths:God Is NearHis presence dwelt among His people. The Ark symbolized His throne on earth.Covenant means relationship — not distance.God Is HolyAccess was limited and required sacrifice. His purity creates a tension for sinful people.Nearness is a gift — not something to approach casually.ApplicationCome to God joyfully.Come to God reverently.Grace produces both confidence and humility.3. Fulfillment — The Person and Work of JesusThe Tabernacle pointed forward to Christ. In Gospel of John 1:14 we read:“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”Literally — He “tabernacled” among us.Jesus is:The true meeting place of heaven and earth. The fulfillment of the Temple. The presence of God in fullness. After His resurrection and ascension, His presence comes to us through the Holy Spirit — not as a replacement for Jesus, but as the living connection to Him.Discussion Questions1. Is generosity a joyful practice for you? Why or why not?2. How do different worship styles emphasize either God's nearness or holiness? How can worship emphasize both?3. Is the Holy Spirit a substitute for Jesus? Why or why not?4. Read Ephesians 2:19-22. How is Paul using the Temple metaphor? What might that look like today in the Christian Life? Hint: the "you" in v. 22 is plural.Questions?Do you have a question about today's sermon? Email Randy Forrester ().

From longleaf pine forests and cypress sloughs to blackwater bayous and carnivorous pitcher plants, the Thicket isn't just one ecosystem—it's several, woven together. Megan breaks down how these habitats blend, what strange and surprising species call this place home, and why birders, botanists, and backpackers quietly consider this area a hidden treasure. We also get practical. What kind of hiking terrain should you expect? Are there paddle trails worth planning a whole trip around? Can you experience multiple ecosystems in just a few hours? Is this place more “boardwalk stroll” or “true wilderness”? (Hint: it's wilder than most people think.)Ranger Megan shares underrated trails, hidden gem areas, and what first-time visitors often underestimate about the Thicket. We talk seasonal timing, cell signal realities, trail maps, hazards like snakes and flooding, and why bug spray might be your most valuable piece of gear out here.On the conservation side, we unpack the real challenges facing Big Thicket today, from invasive species to prescribed burns, and how research and long-term planning are shaping the next 5–10 years of preservation. If you've ever wondered how you, as a visitor, can support a place like this, Megan offers simple but powerful ways to help protect it.Big Thicket may not have the dramatic skyline of the Guadalupe Mountains or the sweeping canyon views of Palo Duro, but what it has is depth. Layer upon layer of life. Subtle beauty. True wildness. If you've never considered exploring a swampy preserve… this episode might just change your mind.Tune in and discover why Big Thicket isn't just a stop on the map, it's an experience you feel.
In this episode of Power House, host Zeb Lowe sits down with mortgage marketing strategist Bri Lees to tackle one of the industry's biggest tensions: how to create marketing that's authentic, effective, and still compliant. Bri argues that bland mortgage marketing isn't a creativity problem; it's a leadership problem. When executive teams fail to define their compliance philosophy or brand identity, loan officers default to “safe” messaging that feels forgettable. With clear guardrails and alignment, she explains, companies can build marketing that feels human and differentiated without crossing regulatory lines. The conversation reframes compliance not as a creativity killer, but as a strategic constraint that, when clearly defined, can sharpen a brand's message and strengthen trust. In this powerful Language of Love conversation, I sit down with Dr. Russell Kennedy, The Anxiety MD, to completely rethink how we deal with anxiety. Russell is a neuroscientist, physician, and bestselling author of Anxiety Rx, and he shares his own story, from a chaotic childhood with a father struggling with severe mental illness to becoming a doctor who eventually burned out. A life-changing LSD experience showed him something incredible. Chronic anxiety is not a mind problem to fix with positive thinking. It is old alarm energy stuck in the body. We dig into how childhood wounds, trauma, and constant uncertainty wire your nervous system to stay on high alert, why worry becomes addictive, and how your body can hold onto memories long after your mind has forgotten. Russell also talks about intuition, sensitivity, and spirituality in healing, and why reconnecting with yourself is one of the most powerful ways to calm fear. Toward the end, I ask the question every anxious person I meet wants answered. When your body feels overwhelmed, how do you shift from alarm to safety? Russell shares simple, practical tools you can start using right away, tools that help your nervous system relax and bring you back to peace. We explore: Why anxiety is a body-based alarm, not a thought problem The difference between anxious thoughts and somatic fear How childhood trauma and separation shape adult anxiety The dopamine worry loop and why anxiety feels addictive The connection between anxiety, OCD, and unresolved grief How somatic practices calm the nervous system at the root Why reconnecting with yourself and something greater creates lasting healing Remember, healing is not something you do alone, and it was never about fixing what was broken. It's not hard to see that many people struggle to manage their money. Most people are, well, frankly bad with money. That is not a value judgment, or a comment about their character or willpower, or anything like that! Managing money is a skill, and skills can be improved with practice and a little guidance. In today's episode Ben and Ernie present five signs indicating you are bad with money, and offer some practical advice to how to get better. (Hint: it involves giving every dollar a job). The five signs: You worry about everyday spending Every inconvenience is an emergency You live paycheck to paycheck You don't set aside money for yourself You don't change your plan If any (or all) of these signs describe you, there is hope! Ben and Ernie used to feel like this too, and through the practice of giving their dollars jobs and thinking through what they needed their money to do for them, step by step, week by week, month by month, they improved and eventually got good with money. Yet he was told he wouldn't be promoted to partnership 9 years into his career (ever). Why? How can that possibly happen? What did he do? Listen to today's episode with my client and friend, Keith Rawlins, to learn: >>> Why partnership isn't just about how much you bill (or even how profitable you've been for your law firm). >>> What it takes to make partner (and then, equity partner) in a law firm. If you thought the internet was a dumpster fire before, the EU LAUNCHES SECOND INVESTIGATION INTO GROK because Musk's bot won't stop generating nonconsensual imagery. Meanwhile, META LARGELY FAILS TO PROTECT KIDS FROM AI CHATBOTS, proving that their internal safety checks are about as effective as a screen door on a submarine. If that doesn't creep you out, AFTER RING PRIVACY BACKLASH over police partnerships, a LEAKED EMAIL SUGGESTS RING PLANS TO EXPAND ‘SEARCH PARTY' from finding lost dogs to total neighborhood surveillance. Of course, REDDIT, META, AND GOOGLE VOLUNTARILY GAVE DHS INFO on users critical of ICE, because why stand up for privacy when you can just comply? In the news, we look at OPENCLAW, OPENAI AND THE FUTURE as the project's founder joins the Borg, even though META AND OTHER TECH FIRMS PUT RESTRICTIONS ON USE OF OPENCLAW because it's basically a security hole that can click your mouse for you. Peak stupidity has arrived with RFK JR'S NEW CHATBOT giving rectal dietary advice, while AI COMPANIES BOUGHT OUT ALL OF WESTERN DIGITAL'S HARD DRIVES through 2026, meaning you can't have storage because the bots need it more. We've reached the point where THERE'S A GRIM NEW EXPRESSION: “AI;DR” for things not worth reading, and THERE'S A NEW TERM FOR WORKERS FREAKING OUT over being replaced—AIRD, or AI Replacement Dysfunction—which is basically the low-grade panic of being made obsolete by a machine that thinks bananas go in your bum.AT THE LIBRARY, we're thumbing through CLEAVE THE SPARROW, THE REGICIDE REPORT by Charles Stross, and Robin Ince being NORMALLY WEIRD AND WEIRDLY NORMAL.Then we descend into THE DARK SIDE WITH DAVE, where the Muppets are taking over with THE MUPPET SHOW and MUPPETS NOW. We put our hands down our pants (for warmth) before this amazing episode! The main topic revolved around the Black Canyon 100k, where Jenn Lichter and Hans Troyer set course records, and the ultrarunning took another major leap forward. We discuss what we learned before laying out an overview of our ultra training philosophy. The sport is changing so fast that we're almost certainly wrong (and biased) in some places. But it's so fun to learn at the edges, and to see how that might apply to any athlete trying to see what's possible! We finish it off by looking for lessons that we can learn for shorter distance training theory. Hint: it's mostly carbs. And this one was full of great topics! Other topics: eating “real food” in workouts, Megan unleashing the speed on the treadmill, David's foot progress, Nomio back in stock, the debate on pacers in ultras, a wildly cool study on neurons and endurance adaptation, a weird cycling study that tricked participants with financial incentives, Tadej Pogacar accidentally (?) publishing his power numbers, and a question on metabolic processes and body image. We love you all! Can your business make a million in one year? Most people will say no. Not because it's impossible, but because they're thinking about it the wrong way. Making your first $1 Million is not about hustle. It's not about stacking side projects. It's not about 14 income streams and burnout disguised as ambition. It's about leverage.Leverage over effort.Outcomes over deliverables.Focus over distraction. If your income is tied directly to your time, you're capped. If you're solving small problems, you're paid small money. If you're scattered across too many offers, too many audiences, too many channels, you're diluted. The path to $1 Million requires three uncomfortable shifts:Obsess over leverage, not effort.Solve a $10 Million problem to earn $1 Million.Go narrower to go bigger with one flagship offer, one defined buyer, and one primary distribution engine. This episode also confronts the uncomfortable truth about wealth: if it costs you your family, your health, or your identity, that's not success. That's ego dressed up as ambition. The real question becomes this: " If you had to build a $1 Million business with only one offer, one audience, and one channel… what would you choose?"Your answer will reveal everything...What You'll Learn:Why leverage beats effort if you want real scaleHow to reverse-engineer $1 Million without the hustle trapThe “solve a $10 Million problem” mindset shiftWhy outcomes sell and deliverables get negotiated downHow focus becomes your unfair advantage when discomfort hitsThe one-offer, one-audience, one-channel test that clarifies everythingHow to build recurring revenue while protecting your energyBeyond The Episode Gems:Buy My Book, Strategize Up: The Blueprint To Scale Your Business: StrategizeUpBook.comDiscover All Podcasts On The HubSpot Podcast NetworkGet Free HubSpot Marketing Tools To Help You Grow Your BusinessGrow Your Business Faster Using HubSpot's CRM PlatformListen to My First Million on the HubSpot Podcast NetworkSupport The Podcast & Connect With Troy: Rate & Review iDigress: iDigress.fm/ReviewsFollow Troy's Socials @FindTroy: LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads, TikTokSubscribe to Troy's YouTube Channel For Strategy Videos & See Masterclass EpisodesNeed Growth Strategy, A Keynote Speaker, Or Want To Sponsor The Podcast? When life feels loud and uncertain, “it will be okay” doesn’t always help. Amy and Kat talk about how to show up without fixing, why validation matters, and what real support looks like. They also share what they’re feeling of the day, what they're reading and watching, including immersion reading and a perimenopause documentary that sparked a conversation about hormones, relationships, and why everything can feel turned way up. Amy reflects on her divorce, what perimenopause may (or may not) have influenced, and why understanding your body matters. Plus, a heartfelt voicemail from a listener in Alberta reminds them why the randomness, laughter, and everyday conversations matter...especially in hard seasons. 5 Things to Say Instead of “It Will Be Okay”: 1. “Gosh, this sounds hard.”Lead with validation instead of solutions. Naming how difficult something feels helps people feel seen rather than fixed. 2. “What do you need from me right now?”Before giving advice, check in. Sometimes people want help, sometimes they just want to be heard...and they may not even know yet. 3. “Sounds like you’re having a very human reaction.”Normalize their response. Fear, anger, sadness, and overwhelm are often appropriate reactions...not signs something is wrong with them. 4. “I don’t know the right thing to say, but I’m here.”Be honest and present. You don’t need the perfect words to offer support...your presence matters more than certainty. 5. “I’m bringing you over cookies.”When asking what someone needs feels like too much, take the guesswork out and do something tangible. Care doesn’t have to be complicated. Get some Feeling Things merch by clicking HERE! (FeelingThingsPodcast.com) Sign up for the Feeling Things newsletter HERE! Watch us on Youtube HERE!
