But historically, the story is much messier.In this conversation, we explore how early sealings were not originally centered on the modern concept of nuclear families being together forever. Instead, sealing theology developed gradually during the Nauvoo period and often functioned as a way to create dynastic networks, priesthood connections, and systems of authority –what some critics compare to an MLM-style hierarchy of spiritual relationships. We discuss the evolution of sealing theology from Joseph Smith to Brigham Young, baptisms for the dead and the trauma surrounding Alvin Smith's death, the rise of dynastic sealings and the “Law of Adoption” where men were sealed to other men. We also discuss the relationship between sealings and plural marriage, how the sealing language changed over time, why Joseph Smith never initially sealed himself to Emma, the story of Jane Manning James and how she was “attached” to Joseph Smith instead of sealed. I'm going live to walk through the NodeLink investigation we've just published, and this has moved far beyond a simple question about whether a small NX1 device can really turn unused home internet into “decentralised infrastructure.” After digging through the website, Zoom presentations, hidden documents, compensation material, token mechanics, and promoter behaviour, the same familiar pattern keeps appearing: futuristic language on the surface, but recruitment incentives, locked tokens, and unanswered revenue questions underneath.HOW THIS STARTEDThis began when I entered a NodeLink Zoom meeting being run by Craig Trewavis. I waited nearly 30 minutes before I was able to ask basic questions about the company, the founders, the revenue model, the hardware, and how the rewards are actually funded.Instead of clear answers, the meeting kept redirecting people toward another presentation later that night. That raised concerns because legitimate infrastructure companies should be able to explain their business model without pushing people through recruitment-style meetings.THE STORY NODELINK IS SELLINGNodeLink presents itself as a DePIN project where households supposedly help build a people-powered infrastructure network by plugging an NX1 device into their internet connection. The company talks about AI infrastructure, VPN services, Bitcoin hash discovery, digital wallets, encrypted routing, storage, and future services.That sounds impressive.But the real question is whether independently verifiable external revenue supports the reward structure.Who are the paying customers? Where are the audited contracts? What infrastructure is actually being used commercially?Marketing language is not evidence.THE COMPENSATION PDF CHANGES THE PICTUREThe most important document we found is the NodeLink Compensation System PDF, which is embedded inside the full investigation.That document moves the discussion away from hype and into mechanics. It describes Participation Units, daily rewards, direct bonuses, PowerUp bonuses, matching bonuses, rank structures, downline-style growth, and reward increases tied to sponsoring active participants.That is where NodeLink starts looking less like a simple infrastructure project and more like MLM wrapped in decentralisation language.The biggest red flag is that higher reward tiers appear linked to recruiting five active participants. Infrastructure performance should depend on uptime, bandwidth, customer usage, compute demand, and verified service revenue — not whether someone builds a team underneath them.LOCKED TOKENS AND DAILY REWARDSNodeLink uses internal token mechanics involving NLK, USDN, USDN-W, locked balances, vesting periods, and delayed release systems. The company says rewards are not guaranteed, but at the same time the ecosystem promotes daily reward projections, participation incentives, and long-term earning potential.That contradiction matters.Many crypto schemes preserve the appearance of stability by controlling liquidity. If participants cannot freely access balances, or if rewards are locked for years, it becomes harder to understand the true financial condition of the platform.WHY PEOPLE BELIEVE ITThe emotional power of NodeLink comes from the story. It tells people they are helping build infrastructure that corporations and governments cannot control. It gives ordinary people the feeling that they are early and positioned before the next big technology wave.I have seen this pattern many times before.The technology narrative becomes the shield around the compensation structure. Kṛṣṇa likes it when we care about other peoples' consciousness and we take steps to help them. He says so in the Bhagavad-gītā; He says, "One who preaches the Bhagavad-gītā to others is the most dear to Me." And when we do it, we achieve a kind of realization that's not available when we just keep it to ourselves. There is a way in which, when we give mercy to others, we get a superior kind of realization that happens when we vicariously experience, again and again, souls reawakening by coming in contact with the Holy Name in written form, or by hearing the hari-nāma, or coming in contact with devotees. In previous yugas, when yajña was the means to please the Lord, it's mentioned that brāhmaṇas used to test their mantras. In fact, they would sacrifice an animal and then bring it back to life with the mantras; that way, they would know the efficacy of their mantras, and then it would give them superior faith in the mantras to be able to do the yajñas properly. In a similar way, when we go and give the mantras to other people—like down in Watford—people are wandering aimlessly down there for various reasons, their souls under the various modes of material nature. But when we take the trouble to go there and we meet them, and we give them the mahā-mantra and so forth—we test our own mantra. When we see it—see its potency and its effect on other people—then we get a superior realization of how powerful it is, rather than staying in an insular state. That's powerful too, but it's more powerful when we give it to others because then we see the effect. Isn't it the most valuable and enlivening of all perspectives to be in the hari-nāma saṅkīrtana and to watch people's reactions to it as they're walking by? I mean, I want front-row seats there! Any busy street in the world and just notice the effect that the Holy Name has—not just on people, but animals too—and watch the effect when they get touched by the mantra. Some people start dancing, some people run away as best they can, and some people pretend like it's not even happening. Even if it's a rip-roaring kīrtana, that can be the most fascinating of all because, you know they're in there, and you know they hear it, and still they try to ignore it. Then it gives us a perspective of our sojourn in the material world. Kṛṣṇa has been speaking to us this whole time, and He's always there within every atom, but we're ignoring Him. We can become circumspect and think about what is our sojourn. That all happens by outreach, by preaching to other people. Plus, as it's mentioned in the song about Lord Nityānanda, how He's a broker; He's selling the Holy Name. He started in a marketplace. This is MLM, in case you ever wanted to join multi-level marketing—you're already in it! This was the precursor to Amway, and Lord Nityānanda started that. It's mentioned by Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura that you bring people to Lord Nityānanda and sign them up for the product, and you get your commission. Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura says—he said, "We'll all take the commission; we'll all take some." My story- I am a 44-year-old mom of 2 boys (ages 8&11) and wife to my wonderful husband for 14 years. We live in Lake Mary, FL (a suburb of Orlando). At the moment, I am a part-time Trainer at my gym. From 2022-2024, I had a podcast (Fast & Fabulous) & coached others to become Intermittent Fasters as well (still dabble in this from time to time)! Before having kids I was Paralegal for 15 years. I started yo-yo dieting around age 16. Since then, I have struggled with my weight. In college, instead of the “freshman 15”, I gained about 40lbs….When I graduated, I lost it by working out 7 days a week, calorie counting and depriving myself constantly. I didn't eat meat, carbs, or sugar, and honestly, I was miserable. Before having kids, I was a paralegal for 15 years. I maintained (not so effortlessly) a healthy weight for about 4 years until I got married at age 30. This is when the weight started to pile on. I finally found comfort in a man who loved me for me, the comfort of marriage set in, and before I knew it, I put on about 20lbs. Then I became pregnant with our first son in 2014 and gained a good 60lbs, lost it all rather quickly after giving birth but this time by joining a weight loss MLM (so embarrassed of this!) and using supplements and body wraps…hundreds of dollars a month to sustain, and I lost only around 10lbs over the next THREE years! Fast forward to 2016-17 – I was pregnant now with my second son. I was gaining just like the first time, but at 28 weeks, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Because I had to follow an extremely strict diet to control my blood sugar, I didn't end up gaining as much. It was what came in the next 2 years that was the worst. I tried to go back to work (I am NOT the stay-at-home type) when my youngest was 7 months old. It was an absolute disaster. My husband got a big promotion 9 months later, and I was forced to quit my job and stay home with an infant and a 3-year-old in a town we had just moved to. I fell into a horrible depression and developed a pretty nasty sugar addiction...you know the kind, when you're eating an entire bag of candy in hiding, trying to cover up the wrappers in the trash. I ate ultra-processed food constantly… fast food, cheeseburgers, and fries were at least a weekly occurrence. Over those 2 years, I gained another 25(ish) lbs. I am 5'3” and my highest weight was around 200lbs...although I'm not 100% as I never weighed myself.I remember weighing 191 at a doctor's appointment in January 2020 (right before I started fasting). So many health issues started piling up at this point...I lived at the doctor's office, but none could give me any answers....and not ONE mentioned weight loss, diet or lifestyle. I tried everything to lose this weight...I would lose 5-6lbs then it would come right back. This went on for a while before I accepted that this is who I was now and that I would be unhealthy and miserable. An old friend of mine had been telling me about IF for about a year at this point. I thought he was NUTS. How could anyone not eat for 16-20 hours?! I was someone who carried snacks in my purse long before I had kids because I was taught to keep your metabolism going, you should eat 6 times a day! Fast forward to January 2020...I'm getting my hair done and overhear the client next to me chatting about how she lost 30lbs doing IF. I went home that day and began researching. When asked if these groups are apostate, he frankly notes that “we’re all apostate to a certain degree.” He asserts that no single church is perfectly true or completely false; rather, God respects human agency and expects mortals to make mistakes as they figure things out. Drawing on his deep love for both American and South Korean cultures, Francom argues that God loves diversity and that heaven itself will feature a rich diversity of cultures. Therefore, different worship styles and branches of Mormonism should be able to coexist as long as they are coming unto Christ. Missouri Temple Community Francom also elaborates on the independent fundamentalist community out in Missouri. They hold regular Sunday meetings, separating for Priesthood instruction and coming together for a unified Sacrament meeting. In a beautiful display of peace, they even hold shared meetings on fifth Sundays with the local mainstream LDS congregation and other fundamentalist factions. To avoid theological conflict, they simply omit the physical sacrament ordinance during these shared gatherings. The community operates strictly on a voluntary basis, with no mandated tithing, even when it comes to funding and maintaining their newly built temple. To prevent the rise of authoritarian “kings” or a “one man” leader, the temple council is a rotating body where members serve two-year terms before being replaced by a priesthood vote. Remarkably, the temple is open to individuals from other Mormon branches—including mainstream LDS members—who wish to experience the original 1840s endowment, provided they are there for sincere religious reasons rather than just “temple tourism.” Bridging the Gap: Mormon Legacy Ministries Recognizing that many Latter-day Saints are losing their faith over modern policy issues and discarding their testimonies entirely, Francom helped launch a brand-new initiative: Mormon Legacy Ministries (MLM). Francom observed that the mainstream LDS Church excels at missionary work and discipling members, while fundamentalists have successfully preserved early doctrines like plural marriage and the Adam-God theory. MLM seeks to bring the best of both worlds together. Described as an “ecumenical Mormon church,” MLM serves as a floating organization or waypoint for independent Mormons. Currently operating primarily over Zoom with Joshua Erickson serving as bishop, MLM is designed as a safe haven where individuals don’t have to swear loyalty to “one man” or strict dogmas. It bridges the gap for those who feel the mainstream LDS Church is no longer working for them, but who still want to hold onto core restoration truths without the intense leap of joining an insular fundamentalist compound. Francom's vision is a refreshing departure from the fighting that usually defines Mormon history. And the paradigm shifts don’t stop there.
