Brett Hurt got the Lamborghini. He got the exits, the valuations, everything a tech titan is supposed to want. And then he felt nothing. That emptiness became the most important moment of his career — and the catalyst for his new book, Love Conquers Fear: Humanity, AI, and the Age of Abundance for All. Brett is the co-founder of data.world (acquired by ServiceNow), Bazaarvoice (unicorn IPO), and Coremetrics (acquired by IBM). He has invested in 151 startups, backed 52 VC funds including SpaceX, and was named Austin's Best CEO. In this conversation with host Park Howell, Brett makes the case that the most urgent upgrade of the AI age is not technological — it's personal. We explore why love, not fear, is the only leadership strategy built for what's coming, why nuclear weapons are a greater existential threat than artificial intelligence, and how psychedelic therapy and Vedantic philosophy transformed the way Brett thinks about building companies, raising consciousness, and saving humanity from itself. If you've ever wondered what you're actually building your work for, this episode is your answer. Find Brett at loveconquersfear.org and on the Love Conquers Fear podcast, published every Tuesday.

Swipe right at your own risk. The dark side of modern romance has officially exploded into a global crime wave where broken hearts are the least of the casualties. In a series of shocking busts, federal authorities just dismantled a massive $15 million romance scam ring that preyed on over 100 older Americans—only for the heartless swindlers to shamelessly flaunt their stolen fortunes on social media, parading around in Lamborghinis and Cybertrucks. But the depravity didn't stop at luxury cars. A parallel crackdown on a "love scam" operation led investigators straight into a massive underground narcotics pipeline, netting a staggering 25 million baht ($680,000+) worth of illicit drugs. Meanwhile, for those looking for casual encounters, dating apps turned into absolute horror shows: a ruthless trio is now facing charges after using digital profiles to lure, brutally assault, and rob nine unsuspecting men. From multi-million dollar high-roller flexing to drug trafficking and violent honeytraps, the digital dating world has officially become a playground for the world's most dangerous opportunists.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/depraved-and-debaucherous--5267208/support.Contact KOP for professional podcast production, imaging, and web design services at http://www.kingofpodcasts.comSupport KOP by subscribing to his YouTube channel and search for King Of PodcastsFollow KOP on X and TikTok @kingofpodcasts (F Meta!)Listen to KOP's other programs, Podcasters Row… and the Wrestling is Real Wrestling Podcast and The Broadcasters Podcast.Buy KOP a Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/kingofpodcastsDrop KOP a PayPal https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=3TAB983ZQPNVLDrop KOP a Venmo https://account.venmo.com/u/kingofpodcastsDrop KOP a CashApp https://cash.app/$kingofallpodcasts

We kick off todays episode with some weekday adventures, This week i talk about the weird occurrences in my life, and i start it off with a homeless man ice grilling me because i didn't give him a dollar, Than i jump into some nerd appreciation due to finding a video on youtube on how to take apart my ps5, and i thank the lord for technology everyday. But you know who is not thanking the lord, the person that i saw run into the back of a Lamborghini. That soul was definitely sold to the insurance company. ( 00:00 - 18:54 )In the movie review section we talk about film movies and other things and give the worse takes. This week we're critiquing the movie “ Gran Turismo” and i definitely liked this movie and have a non bias opinion even though i just recently redownloaded the game again. A true feel good movie that gives us the illusion that we might one day get a call from our favorite game and get asked to partake in the fun in the real world. Even though all of us games are out of shape.( 18:55 - 29:11 )I then jump into The Cool Report where we discuss President Trump wildin again, by putting an octagon next to the pentagon. From there we talk about a new nyc driving proposal where they want to put speed restrictors on speed violates, I'm cool with it. Then things take a right turn when body-cam footage of a pullover surfaces and everyone got to see how corrupt cops can be.( 29:12 - 49:57 )We then step into a segment where the listeners ask me 3 questions about myself or just randomness. A character wants to know how I feel about the Kevin Hart breakfast club interview, did it or did it not hurt him. Only time can tell… probably not. Another character wants to know who would win in the Harlem versus, Jim Jones or Cam'ron… mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn this is not as hard of a choice as i thought it was. Then once again Meek Mills makes it in this section again with another petty response to things going on in the world.( 49:58 - 01:12:43 )Then we have 2 fans ask us a questions for PTL where we get asked the tough questions where we place ourselves in their shoes. A lover submits a question but i somehow forgot to load full question in the prompter but i did remember it because it hit close to home. But what i will say is, don't let people gas light you to think you're the problem. Another lover wants to discuss race play in the bedroom, my response is are you dating Tony Hinchcliffe. ( 01:12:44 - 01:27:02 )THE FINThanks to everyone that shows us love and wish y'all the best on the journey called life.( 01:27:03- 01:31:23 )please continue to like, share, comment and subscribe. Debt obligations had arrived just as markets were “plummeting,” Poma tells us, while lenders closely monitored covenant compliance and private equity owners pressed ahead with the deal.Poma remembers sitting with bankers and shareholders through repeated discussions about liquidity, budgets, and cash generation. “Planning cash was crucial because covenants on cash were really tight,” he tells us. The experience forced him to balance operational performance with financial discipline while uncertainty spread across global markets. Ducati ultimately avoided breaking its covenants, Poma tells us, and the period became one of the defining stretches of his finance career. The challenge also reinforced the leadership style that would later shape his tenure at Lamborghini. Trained originally as an engineer, Poma tells us he built his finance career by combining analytical rigor with business understanding. He later expanded his responsibilities from controlling to investor relations, treasury, and accounting before formally becoming CFO in 2011.Today, that long-view mindset influences how he approaches Lamborghini's growth. The company grew from roughly €200 million in revenue to nearly €2.4 billion over the last decade, Poma tells us, while maintaining a focus on profitability, product discipline, and sustainable expansion.

Recorded in the sunburnt delirium of Miami, Duncan and crew stumble out of the Midwest and into the heat of the fairs, only to find a familiar sensibility in an unexpected place: Dreamsong. Rebecca Heidenberg joins the conversation to talk about building a gallery ecosystem in Minneapolis that resists isolation and instead fosters dialogue between regional artists and those working in larger art centers like New York and Los Angeles. From this conversation we get a portrait of a space that operates as both a commercial gallery and something closer to a cultural commons, anchored by programming, residency initiatives, and a commitment to community. From the founding logic of Dreamsong to the evolution of the Cloud House residency program, Rebecca outlines a model that prioritizes relationships over market pressure. The conversation moves fluidly between Minneapolis as a site of artistic possibility, the economics of running a gallery outside New York, and the strange spectacle of Miami's art fair ecosystem, including dystopian crypto exhibitions and phantom Lamborghini launches. Along the way: documentary filmmaking in Cuba, the legacy of an art-dealing mother, the emotional labor embedded in artistic practice, and the ongoing tension between "pretty" art and meaningful engagement in a complicated political moment. It's Midwest pragmatism meets art world absurdity. And somehow, it works. It's raining again in St. Louis, morale is low, and somehow that immediately leads the show into a heated discussion about wiffle ball bats, sewer water, and whether today's kids even understand the sacred responsibility of yelling “CAR!” during a neighborhood street game.Welcome back to another completely normal episode of The Rizzuto Show — your favorite daily comedy show where literally any topic can spiral into a debate about Costco theft, fake Middle Eastern royalty scams, and frozen-time criminal activity. This episode starts with weather complaints because apparently Missouri is now legally classified as “Sog City USA.” Then things get personal when Rizz reveals his own children saw the comments online after his now-infamous baby deer rescue story… and proceeded to roast him harder than the listeners did. Nothing says family love like your son publicly commenting “I'm disappointed in my dad” on Instagram. The crew also breaks down the latest “Best Places To Live” rankings around the St. Louis area, with St. Peter's, O'Fallon, St. Charles, and Florissant all making appearances. Naturally, this evolves into a deeply nostalgic conversation about growing up in the suburbs during the golden era of neighborhood sports. Wiffle ball. Roller hockey. Ghost runners. Tennis balls soaked in sewer juice. Homemade rules that made absolutely no sense. If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, this episode is basically a memory grenade. Then comes the hypothetical question that derails the entire room:“If you could freeze time… would you commit crimes?”And buddy… these answers escalate FAST.Rizz immediately starts plotting casino robberies, ATM thefts, Costco raids, and highway-speed experiments that would absolutely end with him stealing a Lamborghini. Moon wants unrestricted access to Area 51. Lern becomes a chaotic vigilante helping humanity one paused-time intervention at a time. And Rafe somehow invents an entire frozen-time prank universe involving Sharpies, salad tongs, and public humiliation that we legally cannot explain further here.Because this is a daily comedy show, the conversation somehow gets even weirder when the gang discusses two fake “Middle Eastern princes” who scammed investors out of $21 million while pretending to be royalty in Cleveland. Cleveland being the perfect place for a fake billionaire scheme somehow becomes the least ridiculous thing discussed all morning.Later, the crew dives into the world of dumpster diving side hustles, including college move-out season treasure hunting, curbside furniture discoveries, weird mannequin heads found in Tokyo dumpsters, and Moon accidentally giving away a valuable vintage chair because apparently nobody checked Google first. This episode has:St. Louis nostalgiaFamily dramaChildhood sports storiesWeird newsDumpster-diving economicsCelebrity-level scamsFrozen-time crimesCostco meat theft planningAnd enough sarcastic chaos to qualify as group therapyBasically: another flawless entry in the growing archive of “How Did This Conversation Get Here?” moments from The Rizzuto Show.If you love a funny podcast that sounds like your smartest and dumbest friends arguing at the same time, welcome home.Subscribe, follow, and come back tomorrow for more nonsense from your favorite daily comedy show.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Dr. Brian Harris built five dental practices, filled his garage with a Lamborghini, a Ferrari, a GT3, and a G-Wagon, and still wasn't any happier than when he had one office. So he did what almost no one does: he sold the practices back to his associates, went back to one location, and doubled down on the craft he actually loves. In this episode, Peter, Craig, Ian, and Brian unpack the real story behind the highlight reel. Why ego drives expansion more than strategy. Why financial success doesn't automatically create fulfillment. Why younger dentists need to rev the RPMs before they chase lifestyle dentistry. And why the ability to walk away from something you built might be the most underrated skill in the profession. Brian also shares what he's learned from nearly a decade running his own mastermind, building Smile Virtual, and doing $400K a month in production as a solo cosmetic dentist. His core message to every dentist listening: connection before conversion. Stop trying to close people. Start organizing your practice and your life around what actually makes you excited to show up. DESCRIPTION The Bulletproof Dental Podcast Episode: 437 HOSTS: Dr. Peter Boulden, Dr. Craig Spodak, and Ian de Jongh Special Guest: Dr. Brian Harris In this episode, Peter Boulden, Craig Spodak, and Ian de Jongh sit down with Dr. Brian Harris, cosmetic dentist, founder of Smile Virtual, and headliner at the 2026 Bulletproof Summit in Scottsdale. Brian shares the unfiltered story of scaling to five practices, realizing he was making less money and carrying more stress, and making the unconventional decision to go back to one office and focus on what he loves. If you've ever wondered whether more locations, more revenue, or more stuff will actually make you happier, this episode is a brutally honest look at what happens when you get everything you thought you wanted and have to recalibrate. TAKEAWAYS - Building multiple locations without the right leadership layer can leave you earning less than you did with one - Ego and approval addiction are often the real drivers behind expansion decisions - The grind phase early in your career is necessary and shouldn't be skipped - Knowing when to take the cul-de-sac back out is just as important as perseverance - Material success (cars, money, status) does not reliably increase happiness - Organizing your practice around what excites you creates better outcomes than chasing what others say you should do - Connection before conversion is the key to case acceptance and long-term practice success - Social media content works best when it's about your patients, not about you - Repetition through tools like Smile Virtual builds consultation skills that translate to real-life case acceptance - Being out of balance isn't a failure if you recognize it and course correct CHAPTERS 00:00 Opening Banter and Introductions 01:09 What Should the World of Dentistry Be Like 02:53 What Would You Tell Your Younger Self 04:29 The Case Against Lifestyle Dentistry Too Early 06:08 The Dip, the Cul-de-Sac, and Knowing When to Walk Away 07:15 What Are You Most Proud Of 09:15 Going from One Office to Five and Back Again 11:25 The Counter Narrative to Build Build Build 13:51 It Was Ego 15:17 A Garage Full of Supercars and the Same Level of Happiness 17:12 The Trap of Chasing Financial Success 18:16 Finding What You Actually Love About Dentistry 21:10 The Value of Loving Your Craft 23:51 The Strivers Curse and Being Out of Balance 26:10 Acknowledging When You're Out of Balance 28:13 Approval Addiction and Learning to Say No 30:20 People Pleasing Beyond the Operatory 32:27 Building a Personal Brand That Serves Patients 35:07 Content Strategy and Making It About Others 37:06 The Elite Mastermind and Finding Your Tribe 41:56 The Danger of Wrong-Fit Groups and Outside Influencers 44:36 Authenticity Over Sales Tactics 46:09 How Smile Virtual Builds Real Consultation Skills 49:46 Brian's Message to Every Dentist Listening 53:18 The Spirit of Service and Why It Wins 55:27 Brian's Megaphone Moment 59:09 Closing and Summit Details REFERENCES - Bulletproof Summit 2026 - https://bulletproofsummit.com/ - Bulletproof Mastermind - https://bulletproofmastermind.com/ - Smile Virtual - https://smilevirtual.com/

As a society, we've been throwing around the phrase “The kids are alright” for decades. But in the automotive landscape, is that really true? On today's episode, Derek and Jason dissect the theory that young people are getting less interested in cars and whether or not it has any validity in 2026. Before getting into the thick of it, Jason and Derek discuss the latest Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo GTS joining them in the studio. Carmudgeonation occurs, naturally. Between unintuitive infotainment and UX, lackluster interior volume, and - naturally being a current Porsche - an eye-watering sticker price of over $180K, the newest Taycan certainly leaves some ground to be desired. But not all is lost, as the updated adaptive air suspension, good looks, and the endlessly mind-bending acceleration certainly make up for lost appeal. And of course, the existence of any wagon still on sale in 2026 - let alone, a Porsche wagon, is a win regardless of its flaws. The bulk of this episode discusses youth interest in cars and how trends have changed in recent years. Most notably, the cultural shift in interest to Porsche products like the 992 GT3 RS over Lamborghini and Ferrari - why do kids fawn over cars that are inherently more commonplace and accessible? Does industry accessibility to press cars affect young tastes? Will broccoli haircuts live on forever? Some of this, and more - on today's episode of The Carmudgeon Show with Jason Cammisa and Derek Tam-Scott, driven by Hagerty. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

WHAT ARE THE OTHER F1 DRIVERS DOING ON THEIR DAYS OFF? WILL MAX BE MOTIVATED TO RACE AT LE MANS? AND…FERNANDO SAYS…I WANT TO KEEP RACING UNTIL MY SON CAN SEE ME IN THE F1 PADOCK!! THIS WEEK'S NASIR HAMEED CORNER WE HAVE: YANNICK DALMAS FOUR TIME LE MANS WINNER…CARLOS SAINZ SR…AND INDY 500 WINNER THE LATE GIL DE FERRAN!! Max Verstappen and team dominate 24h Nürburgring until final hours, as Red Bull Team ABT makes a spectacular comeback for 2nd place! Max Verstappen produced a standout debut performance at the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring, in command of the race for the majority of its 24 hours before Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing were forced out of the lead with just over three hours remaining following a driveshaft failure on the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3. The four-time F1 world champion, sharing the car with Dani Juncadella, Lucas Auer and Jules Gounon, had delivered spells of excellent driving across both day and night in his first 24-hour race, a performance that further underlined his ability to adapt seamlessly across different disciplines of motorsport. With Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing forced to retire, the sister #80 Mercedes inherited the lead to take overall victory, with the #84 Red Bull Team ABT Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 classified second after a recovery drive from a lap-one puncture. A record 352,000 spectators attended the 24h Nürburgring weekend for Verstappen's debut appearance, a surge many are calling the "Verstappen effect". The charge began on the opening lap, when Juncadella moved up the order from P4 as the pole-sitting Red Bull Team ABT #84 suffered a puncture. Verstappen took over for his maiden Nordschleife race stint with the #3 in P3, and a brief early scare onto the grass did little to slow him. Settling into rhythm, he stormed through the order with a string of thrilling overtakes to take the lead inside his very first stint. From there the #3 settled into a sustained battle at the front, with the team's four-driver rotation slotting into the rhythm of the race. After Verstappen's opening double stint, Gounon took the car on for his run before Auer reclaimed the lead with a strong spell of his own. Juncadella then took the wheel into the small hours, going lap-for-lap with the chasing #80 as the two factory Mercedes cars opened up a commanding gap over the rest of the field, the two rarely separated by more than 20 seconds across the full race distance. Verstappen was at the centre of the action across the overnight hours. The Dutchman pulled nearly half a minute clear of the sister car on his way to a string of standout moments, including a 270 km/h side-by-side battle on the Döttinger Höhe that saw the #80 run onto the wet grass before recovering, and a patient overtake to put the #3 back into the lead after more than 20 minutes of pursuit. The 24h Nürburgring is widely regarded as one of the most punishing events in motorsport, and across the race weekend a sizeable share of the 161-strong field were caught out by some combination of mechanical issues, crashes and the Nordschleife's notoriously changeable conditions. By the time the chequered flag fell, only 18 of the 41 GT3 cars that had started the race were still running. Heading into the final four hours, Verstappen had stretched the lead back out to 33 seconds before handing over to Juncadella on his in-lap. The issue struck shortly after, just three laps into the Spaniard's stint. An initial ABS warning escalated into vibrations from the rear right corner, and the car limped back to the garage where mechanics diagnosed a broken driveshaft and significant rear axle damage. With repair time running to nearly an hour, victory was no longer possible, but the team committed to rebuilding the car so it could rejoin the race for the closing laps. "We spoke with Max and the other three drivers, and everybody is so disappointed," said Mercedes-AMG manager Stefan Wendl. "But we said let's send this beautiful car out again for the last two or three laps and present it to the fans who have cheered for 20 hours and tried to bring us to victory." Juncadella, who was behind the wheel when the issue struck, took the disappointment in his stride: "It's obviously very heartbreaking, but motorsport is like that sometimes. There are many things you cannot control. The mechanical aspect in motorsport can sometimes be very cruel, and it was with us this time. Unfortunately, the race was three hours too long for us, and we couldn't make it to the end. Nevertheless, we have to be proud of everything that has been done. The team was incredible with the calls they did in the race. Max had a lot of fun; we could all see that. Maybe now there's a reason to come back." Driving alongside Verstappen for the first time, Lucas Auer reflected on the team dynamic: "Last time we drove together was against each other, and it's definitely better to have him as a teammate because he is just a machine. He's a lot of fun, a hard worker and has amazing speed." The sister #80 Mercedes of Team RAVENOL (Maro Engel, Luca Stolz, Fabian Schiller and Maxime Martin) went on to take Mercedes-AMG's first 24h Nürburgring victory in a decade, having recovered from a Top Qualifying crash that had left them starting in 25th place. Red Bull Team ABT held on to second despite a late penalty for a Code 60 infringement, finishing 16 seconds clear of the third-placed Walkenhorst Aston Martin. Red Bull Team ABT's Luca Engstler, who shared driving duties in the #84 with Mirko Bortolotti and Patric Niederhauser, could scarcely believe the team had fought back to second after a puncture dropped them to 14th: "It was an incredible week. We had a very good qualifying, starting front row, and then we had a horrible start, got taken out, and we had the puncture, and we were two and a half minutes down. We dropped back to about nine minutes behind the leader. But I never gave up, and in the end, we're here, and that's just insane." Race engineer Leon Wippersteg, fresh from delivering Lamborghini's first Nürburgring front-row lockout in qualifying, credited the wider team effort that delivered second place: "It was one year of preparation to come here and to perform. All the drivers, engineers, mechanics, all the partners, everything has to fit together to be able to perform. We had the package, and I would say we're one of the quickest manufacturers out there. I think we managed well, and I'm very proud."

In higher animals, the brain is like a Lamborghini — amazing engineering, but expensive to run. In a human, the brain uses about 10 times more energy than other organs. A bird's system is exquisitely attuned to this expense. Several species, including Black-capped Chickadees, have adapted in a clever way. You can usually hear these chickadees calling throughout fall and winter. But they aren't singing much, because they don't need to. In their brains, the centers that control how they learn and give voice to songs shrink. But as the birds resume singing during spring, the control centers in the brain rejuvenate. Graham Stephan was relentless about one thing before he had anything else: not spending money he did not have to spend. He calculated the gas cost of visiting a friend and decided it was not worth it. Most people would call that extreme. He calls it the foundation. The habits he built early, consistency, focus, and ruthless saving, did not feel heroic in the moment. They felt boring. But boring done every single day is what compounded into real estate commissions, YouTube income, and an investment portfolio split evenly between property, index funds, and cash. What he did not do was wait until he felt ready. He held off on starting his YouTube channel for years because he did not have a Lamborghini like the other guys. When he finally started, none of that mattered. The deeper conversation here is about what money actually means once you have enough of it. Graham is not chasing a bigger number. He wants to buy back his time, to read a book on a Tuesday if he feels like it. That shift from accumulation to freedom is where this episode gets genuinely interesting. Is making a billion dollars really the highest achievement for men? Tai Lopez says no. In this vlog-style episode, Tai explains why money, fame, Lamborghinis, private jets, mansions, and social media status are not the real endgame. They are tools. The real goal is the good life: health, wealth, love, happiness, family, land, purpose, and peace. Standing on his farm, Tai breaks down why so many men chase success without knowing what they actually want, why cities are useful for making money but not always for living well, and why the original American dream was closer to land, family, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance. He also talks about raising kids closer to nature, building a family compound, learning from the Amish, buying land, homesteading, farming, and why entrepreneurs should start with the end in mind before chasing more money. If you’re ambitious, building a business, or chasing wealth, this episode is a reminder to ask the bigger question: what is all the money actually for? In Episode 98, Jerrilyn Lake (aka Indeskribeabull) and Lynee’ Monae kick things off with a classic What Irritated Me This Week moment that wastes absolutely no time. From side‑eyeing loud, misogynistic podcast debates to unpacking the exhausting contradictions of “traditional” expectations placed on women, the duo makes it clear: some opinions deserve to be left at the mic. Things only get hotter when they dive into prom season, questioning why kids are pulling up in Lamborghinis for one night while graduation barely gets a balloon. Is it celebration, performance, or a little bit of both? And more importantly—who is this really for? The conversation shifts from rhinestones to red carpets as Jerrilyn and Lynee’ get real about the Met Gala, high fashion, and why being uncomfortable is somehow part of the aesthetic. They break down the industry’s long history of unrealistic beauty standards, from modeling culture to size obsessions, and why “beauty is pain” isn’t just a phrase—it’s a system. With jokes that land and truths that hit, they connect fashion, capitalism, and hypocrisy in a way only She Said It First can. Equal parts hilarious and honest, this episode is a reminder that looking good has never been worth losing yourself—and if it is, maybe it’s time to change the rules. This week Alex is joined by Randy and the elusive, bi-coastal Howard to talk about exciting times for Central California Porschephiles, whether stock colors are now more interesting than PTS, and Enzo vs. 288 GTO. They relive the recent Cold Start event in San Francisco before settling into a detailed breakdown of our recent experience at the Bicester Scramble in the UK, including the joys of the British event car park and the incredible Bicester Motion facility, a historic RAF base that was restored as a collection of automotive-themed businesses. They pause to give respect to the folks pedaling vintage Jags at the Goodwood Members' Meeting, then Howard describes driving the family's Zagato-bodied Alfa as one of the long list of impressive entries in the four-day, thousand-mile Cal Mille. Finally, they talk about the need for "difficult" marque experts on BaT and move on to their favorite recent listings on the site, a suddenly topless Lamborghini, a tempting call to co-drive at the NORRA, appreciation for the resuscitated Mint 400, burly first-gen T-birds, and a pressing mystery surrounding a missing wheel lock key.Follow along! 1. King Charles III’s Visit to the U.S. King Charles addresses a joint session of Congress, becoming only the second British monarch to do so (after Queen Elizabeth II in 1991). The visit is symbolic of deep historical and constitutional ties between the U.S. and the U.K., especially as America approaches its 250th anniversary. Shared Anglo-American legal traditions (Magna Carta, English Bill of Rights, John Locke). The irony of honoring a British monarch given America’s revolutionary origins. King Charles is portrayed as: Surprisingly humorous and personable, using dry British wit. Well-received across party lines, including Democrats who previously opposed “monarchy symbolism.” President Trump is quoted praising the King’s speech and leveraging the visit to reinforce themes of heritage, liberty, and national identity. 2. FBI Raids on Alleged Somali Fraud Operations The FBI conducts 22 raids in Minnesota, reportedly targeting childcare centers accused of defrauding federal programs. Allegations include: Billing for childcare services not provided. Large-scale misuse of taxpayer funds. Claims that some funds were diverted abroad (including alleged terrorism links—presented as accusations, not proven facts). Specific political figures (e.g., Ilhan Omar, Governor Tim Walz) are accused by the speakers of: Ignoring, enabling, or benefiting politically from the alleged fraud. Ben and the Senator praise the Department of Justice and Trump administration for aggressive enforcement, framing it as overdue accountability. Welfare recipients owned luxury vehicles (Tesla, Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, etc.). Exploited eligibility loopholes like Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility (BBCE). Weak identity and asset verification enabling fraud. The welfare system is: “Fraud by design,” incentivized to maximize dependency rather than enforce eligibility. Poorly monitored by Democratic-led states. The narrative argues for tighter controls, asset checks, and stricter enforcement. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Time for another Q&A episode where Roger & Pete answer questions on retirement planning, passing assets to children. SIPP vs ISA and much more! Shownotes: https://meaningfulmoney.tv/QA47 01:42 Question 1 Hi Pete, Roger, and Nick, Thank you for the podcast - I've been listening for a while but fell behind and just binged about 15 Q&A episodes over the last fortnight! There's nothing like listening to the podcast to get me fired up about my finances! I have a question about the upcoming change to minimum retirement age, and a question about how to use my SIPP versus S&S ISA post-55/57. I was born in February 1972 and so by my reckoning should be ok to access my SIPP at 55. However, I heard somewhere that access could be removed at the date the law changes, because I wouldn't be 57 by that date. Can you shed any light please? It doesn't make sense to me to grant access then take it away. The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking that in the next year I should favour putting money into my SIPP for the tax relief instead of into my S&S ISA, since I can access it within a short time anyway if I really needed to. Once I'm 55, does it still make sense to put money in the ISA at all, given the SIPP will continue to have tax relief so long as I'm working? All the best and looking forward to the videos coming out! Chris 07:04 Question 2 Hi Pete & Rodger, My wife & I are both aged 55 & I plan to retire aged 60 possibly a little earlier my wife isn't sure exactly when she will stop at the moment. I currently have a work place Scottish Widows default pension lifestyle turned off £225,000 I pay in 31%, company pays in 4%, salary sacrifice I then occasionally move funds to my 100% equities SIPP low cost global index fund £442000. My wife has a small DB pension and 45,000 in a SIPP again all in equities. My plan is to retire at 60ish on the SW pension to bridge the gap to state pension age 67. Leaving the SIPPS invested in equities both in low cost global index funds. Possibly adding some bonds a few years out from state pension age. Currently 20k emergency fund cash isa and my liquid assets whisky collection. Do you feel I could improve my plan or is it reasonably sound? Kind regards, Lee. 12:48 Question 3 Hi Pete & Roger, I have a deferred DB pension which in 2018 (when it closed) I was told my annual pension at age 62 would be £18270. The pension is capped at CPI or 2.5% annually, whichever is lower. As such it is getting deflated by high inflation. As of today it's £21840. (With CPI it would be £23830 or even £26050 with RPI). I have a decent DC scheme to top it up but what can I do mitigate this decline with transfer out values currently quite low? Thanks for your advice. Richard 18:08 Question 4 Hello Pete and Roger, Firstly, thank you for your brilliant podcast - it really is absolutely fantastic. Since discovering it early in 2024, I've listened to almost every show! I love the way you both make complicated concepts easy to understand and often have me chuckling along at the same time! I have a question to you both about inheritance tax and a potential way to reduce, or even eliminate, its effects. I don't believe you have covered this particular strategy, so I'm very interested to hear your thoughts. Here's what I am thinking. My wife and I are both 43 and have two lovely children aged 7 and 9. We both work full-time in well-paid jobs and save a good amount into our pensions and ISAs, whilst also ensuring we 'live for today' by going on regular holidays and spending as much time as possible with the children (whilst they still like spending time with us!). Our rough combined financial position is as follows: - £1m in company DC pensions, contributing at a rate of about £85k gross per year - £350k in stocks & shares ISAs, contributing at a rate of £40k per year - For each child – £40k in Junior SIPP contributing at a rate of £3600 gross per year, and £10k in Junior ISA with no significant annual contributions - A house that is worth about £700k with £400k still to pay on the mortgage (remaining term 15 years) I am aware that it's very early to think about inheritance tax, and I know that rules in the future will very likely change. However, it's very conceivable to me that our children will incur a very significant IHT bill when we both shuffle off (to use Pete's phrase!). My "solution" to this is as follows. When our children reach the age of 18, rather than paying £40k per year in our ISAs, we will pay it directly into their ISAs. We will fund this either through earnings (I still love my job and envisage working well into my 60s), and/or from one or both of our pensions. When we are retired, we plan to take regular payments from our pensions up to point where we would start paying higher rate tax; this will hopefully allow us to live comfortably whilst also contributing to our children's ISAs. Any shortfall will be covered by our own ISAs. We will give this money to our children on the basis that it is still our money if we ever need it (e.g., care homes, massive holiday, Lamborghinis, etc). In other words, we will tell them that we will continue paying them £20k a year each provided that they do not touch it and have it available for us if we ever need it. With a bit of luck, we will never need it, and both our children will ultimately receive a substantial sum of 'inheritance' without paying any IHT. I appreciate there are some risks associated with this strategy. The two that I can think of are as follows. Firstly, there's a risk that we fall out with our children and lose control of the money. Secondly, if one our children marries, then divorces, then half of the money we've given them may disappear to someone else. This is definitely a concern. However, provided we are both comfortable with these risks, do you think this is a sensible method of transferring wealth to our children, and can you think of anything other considerations we need to think about? I'm probably missing something really important so it'd be great to hear your thoughts! Thanks again for your amazing podcast – I really do love tuning in every week! Thanks, Martin 28:19 Question 5 Hello gents, My question is this : if someone is looking to retire pre-state pension, and bridging that gap, what are the primary options available? I've been looking at for example - fixed term annuity if rates are good; bond ladder (feel a bit overwhelmed on this); money market fund; bung it in a cash savings account. I'm assuming I want minimum volatility - is that the right approach to take? Richard. 32:18 Question 6 Hi Pete, Roger and Nick I have become an avid listener in the last three months, having just taken Voluntary Redundancy at age 63. I have benefitted hugely from your expertise and listenable style. Many thanks. I'm imagining that if you include this question in your podcast you might mention a tax tail wagging the dog. However, I don't want my dog to miss out on performing tax tricks. My question concerns whether I can take taxable income from my SIPP whilst leaving my tax-free lump sum untouched. I would then like to take the tax free lump sum at a future date to fund a home relocation. Is this possible? The background is as follows: My DB (£40k) pension will kick-in at 65 (18 months to go) when I will also take a lump sum which I will place into my and my wife's ISAs. I have to do this at 65 due to scheme rules. So in the meantime we're living on my £100k redundancy pay which is sizeable enough to also fill our ISA allowances for 25/26 financial year. I will avoid higher rate income tax on this VR payment via a SIPP contribution. This means that our current and future 2 financial years ISA contributions will be full and I will also have a SIPP bumped up to £250k. However, it will also mean most of my VR pay will then be in SIPP and ISAs leaving us short on spendable income next year! But next financial year, being un-salaried, I will have the opportunity to take £50270 from my SIPP whilst limiting my income tax to 20%. This will then fill next years income gap. (Once I start receiving my DB pension I will find it harder to get the remaining SIPP funds out without paying 40% income tax as the state pension plus DB will then take me over £50270). I don't want the tax-free lump sum next year as I don't have a need for it until age 65 when we plan to relocate and I can't put it in ISAs because I've already filled them. So can I start taking taxable income but leave the tax-free lump sum in the SIPP where it currently performs the function of an ISA (ie tax-free growth). Alternatively, am I just being a bit silly and making life overly complicated? Your wise observations will be eagerly received. I have done my own cash-flow modelling in detail and this is just a simplified summary of the main facts. Once I am in the new routine post-65 then it'll become a lot easier, but these few steps in the dance over the next couple of years require a great deal of thought. Kind regards, Tom
