Āfrika māca mieru Eiropai Pagājušās nedēļas nogalē Kijivu un Maskavu apmeklēja augsta līmeņa Āfrikas valstu delegācija, kurā ietilpa Dienvidāfrikas, Ēģiptes, Senegalas, Kongo Republikas, Komoru, Zambijas un Ugandas pārstāvji. Centrālā figūra šai delegācijā bija Dienvidāfrikas Republikas prezidents Sirils Ramafosa. Brauciena deklarētais mērķis bija miera procesa iniciēšana un, kā uzsvēra Dienvidāfrikas līderis, šī ir pirmā reize, kad Āfrikas pārstāvji iesaistās šādā misijā ārpus kontinenta robežām. Kā zināms, Āfrika nopietni cieš no labības un minerālmēslu piegāžu apsīkuma karadarbības rezultātā. Tomēr miera plānam, kuru Kijivā piedāvāja Dienvidāfrikas prezidents, raksturīga viņa valstij un vairākām citām Āfrikas nācijām raksturīgā nenoteiktā nostāja pret Krievijas agresiju. No konkrētajā misijā iesaistītajām, sevišķi Dienvidāfrika un Uganda uzlūkojamas par Kremļa režīma netiešām atbalstītājām. Arī šī brauciena laikā prezidents Ramafosa atkārtoja savus ieskatus, proti – Krievijas iebrukumu Ukrainā esot veicinājusi pati Ukraina un arī rietumvalstis. Attiecīgi, delegācijai viesojoties Maskavā, Kremļa režīma līderis Putins uzteica tās „līdzsvaroto” pozīciju. Tomēr, runājot par miera plānu, agresorvalsts vadītājs izteicās, ka vairākus tā punktus būšot grūti īstenot. Netiešs mājiens par Kremļa attieksmi ir arī tas, ka delegācijas uzturēšanās Kijivā neatturēja Krievijas spēkus no kārtējās raķešu apšaudes. Savukārt prezidents Zelenskis afrikāņu viesiem nepārprotami norādīja, ka nekādi diplomātiski risinājumi nav iespējami, kamēr Ukrainas teritorijā atrodas Krievijas okupanti. Rezumējot – Āfrikas līderu misijas konkrētie panākumi, kā jau varēja sagaidīt, ir teju nekādi, ja neskaita solījumus turpināt procesu. Kas attiecas uz skaļi nedeklarēto, iespējams, Āfrikas valstu līderiem ir izdevies mazināt Kremļa saimnieka vēlmi izstāties no vienošanās, kas nodrošina Ukrainas labības eksportu uz Āfriku no Melnās jūras ostām. Asinis šokolādē Savienotajās Valstīs bāzētā transnacionālā kompānija „Mondelēz International” ir viens no lielākajiem konditorejas izstrādājumu ražotājiem pasaulē. Tās ienākumi 2021. gadā bija nepilni 29 miljardi, un peļņa – vairāk nekā 4 miljardi ASV dolāru. Koncerna paketē ir vairāk nekā četrdesmit zīmoli, tai skaitā tādi pasaulē un arī Latvijā atpazīstami kā „Milka”, „Belvita”, „Cadbury”, „Côte d'Or”, „Daim”, „Halls”, „Marabou”, „Oreo”,  Toblerone”, „Philadelphia Cream Cheese”. Pagātnē kompānija bijusi iesaistīta vairākos skandālos, kas saistīti ar globālo pārtikas ražotāju sociāli un ekonomiski bezatbildīgu politiku Āfrikas valstīs. Līdz ar citiem ražotājiem „Mondelēz” ticis vainots par to, ka iepērk kakao pupiņas no plantācijām Kotdivuārā un Ganā, kuras izveidotas, izcērtot aizsargājamus mežu masīvus, kā arī no plantācijām Mali, kurās tiek izmantots bērnu vergu darbs. Kompānija reaģēja, deklarējot godīgas ražošanas standartu ieviešanu un programmas bērnu verdzības apkarošanai. Tagad globālais našķu ražotājs saskāries ar jaunu reputācijas izaicinājumu: 25. maijā Ukrainas Nacionālā korupcijas novēršanas aģentūra iekļāva „Mondelēz International” savā kara atbalstītāju sarakstā. Iemesls ir tas, ka kompānija pēc 24. februāra nav pārtraukusi darbību Krievijā, turpina tur tirgoties, ražot un maksāt nodokļus agresorvalsts budžetā. Kā liecina muitas dati, atsevišķu kompānijas produktu imports Krievijā pat pieaudzis, tāpat kā kompānija peļņa, jo tā pārstājusi reklamēties un samazinājusi citus nenozīmīgākos tēriņus. Visstraujāk uz Ukrainas deklarēto reaģēja koncerna sadarbības partneri Ziemeļvalstīs. Ar „Mondelēz” saistītos zīmolus pārtraukušas tirgot nacionālās aviosabiedrības SAS un „Norwegian Air”, Zviedrijas publiskais dzelzceļa pārvadātājs SJ, viesnīcu ķēde „Srawberry”, mazumtirgotājs „Elkjop”, kuģniecības kompānija „Fjord Line” u.c. Sadarbību ar koncernu pārtraukušas Dānijas, Norvēģijas un Zviedrijas futbola asociācijas. Boikotētājus nekavē tas, ka vairākiem „Mondelēz” zīmoliem, kā saldumu ražotājiem „Marabou” un „Freia” vēsturiski ir Skandināvijas izcelsme. Saskarsmē ar presi kompānija līdz šim skopi komentēja šībrīža boikotu, taču koncerna iekšienē izplatīts tā Eiropas tīkla prezidenta Vinsa Grūbera paziņojums, kurā viņš sūkstās par nevienlīdzīgu attieksmi – citi ražotāji, kuri arī nav pametuši Krievijas tirgu, šādi netiekot boikotēti. Tajā pat laikā, kā ziņo aģentūra „Reuters”, pret „Mondelēz” vadības rīcību sākuši protestēt uzņēmuma darbinieki Austrumeiropā. Cita starpā minēts, ka jau martā attiecīgu vēstuli parakstījuši 130 nodarbinātie Baltijas valstīs. Ar līdzīgiem protestiem saskārušies arī divi citi pārtikas ražošanas giganti – „Nestle” un „PepsiCo”. Provençal Millefeuille and Foie Gras Deviled Eggs with Camilla FurmanDuring lockdown, we all had to get creative in the kitchen – and Camilla Furman really put herself to the test in creating these wow-worthy haute cuisine recipes. Rich foie gras-stuffed deviled eggs and a creamy Provençal millefeuille with duck require precision-driven pairings to keep toppling their balance. Emily goes with a simple, herbaceous cheese, while Caroline looks west for a Burgundian wine that rises to the challenge.Recipe:Millefeuille ProvencalBy Camilla R FurmanIngredients:Aubergine (eggplant) sliced thinly and grilled 1-2 slices per millefeuilleRed Peppers roasted and chopped1-2 Tablespoon per millefeuilleDuck or Beef (shredded without clumps of fat!)2-3 spoonful's per millefeuilleMushroom, Spinach, Cream Sauce * Recipe below1-2 spoonful's per millefeuilleCourgette (zucchini) sliced thinly and grilled3-4 slices per millefeuilleTomato1 slice per millefeuilleAubergine (eggplant) chopped2 slices per millefeuilleParmesan Cheese shredded1/8 C per millefeuilleBasil Topsone per millefeuilleSalt/pepper/granulated garlicFresh thyme, oregano, chives, chopped basil*Mushroom/Spinach/Cream LayerThis part should be made a day ahead, or at least several hours before you plan on assembling the millefeuilles.600g of sliced mushrooms300g of frozen spinach½ onion chopped fine150g of Philadelphia Cream Cheese (but you could use mascarpone too)2 T Salted butter1 Clove pressed garlicSaute mushrooms in butter. Add onion and cook until translucent. Add spinach and garlic and cook until most liquid from the mushrooms and spinach is released. Drain excess liquid or simmer until most moisture is gone. You may need to both drain and simmer! Add cream cheese. This mixture should not be runny, but rather stiff. Season to taste.Assemble the MillefeuillesSelect small round metal molds to layer the ingredients. These millefeuilles are very filling, so small is fine! Put all the molds in a baking dish. This dish is best when assembled one day, and baked the next day.Layer 1: Start by placing a strudy single round of grilled aubergine on the bottom of the mold. If it doesn't cover the bottom, without coming up the sides of the mold, add strips of aubergine to make a complete base for the rest of the ingredients. Season this layer with salt, pepper and granulated garlic, and chopped basil and thyme.Layer 2: Add a sprinkling of roasted red peppers over the seasoned aubergine. Be judicious in the amount you use, it can be overpowering! I tend to “sprinkle” it to be sure every bite gets a piece of pepper, but not to completely cover over the aubergine.Layer 3: Take your prepared meat, season it with salt and pepper, thyme and chives, and completely cover the peppers and aubergine.Layer 4: Spoon in the mushroom/spinach mixture to cover the meatLayer 5: Season the courgetti with salt and pepper and granulated garlic and cover the mushroom spinach layer.Layer 6: Add a seasoned (salt, pepper, oregano, basil) tomato sliceLayer 7: Top with chopped and seasoned grilled aubergine. Use mold presser to press the layers together without letting it squeeze out the bottom.Bake at 190C (375F) for 30 min (or until completely warmed through and through)Use the presser to push out the millefeuille from the form unto a plate and top with shredded parmesan cheese and basil top.Serve with Ratatouille and puree de Celeriac (you can look up the recipes for these!)If you want to make into a lasagna you can layer it in a baking pan, but add mozzarella cheese to hold it together better!Recipe:Foie Gras Deviled Eggs with Raspberry Flavor PearlsBy Camilla R Furman6 Hard boiled eggs250g Foie gras or mouse de canard Mayonnaise *homemade!Salt – if neededRaspberry Flavor pearls* available on Amazon or at gastronomic specialty shops. (I have also used sauterne flavor pearls!)Prepare the eggs by halving them and extracting the yolks and into a smoothy blender or small diameter jar to use a stick blender. Add the foie gras or mousse and a Tablespoon of mayonnaise (or enough to make the mixture the consistency of butter frosting) and mix with the yolks. Add a pinch of salt if needed. You want more foie gras taste than yolky/mayo taste!Blend until smooth.Pipe the yolk/foie gras mixture into the egg whites and place the flavor pearls on top. Remove from oven and cool. Pour into sprayed or buttered pie plate. Smooth and Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until a skin develops on the top. Immediately spread 1 cup of Sour Cream on the top, and cool.Pumpkin Pie Without CrustIngredients:1 can of pumpkin, 1 cup fat free milk or Kroger carbmaster milk1 whole egg, 1 egg white, 3/4 cup of Swerve sweetener or Splenda, 1 tsp vanilla1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg1/4 tsp clovesMix all and bake in a pie tin or plate at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. 3sp for the whole pie and 1sp for ¼With Crust, Bake in a frozen pie crust (not deep dish) for50-55 minutes.  Cut into 6 slices and it's 6sp per slice.Grammy's Stuffing (easiest stuffing ever and light)Ingredients:  2 pkg Pepperidge Farm herb seasoned bread crumbs1 Large yellow onion, 1 Bundle of celerySage to taste, Salt to taste, Turkey broth - 2 cups to start add more if neededShould go into the oven moist so it doesn't dry out while baking Cut celery and onions and cook down in water until soft and drain. Add to bread crumbs with 2 cups of turkey broth. If more is need add. Add sage and salt to taste then bake at 350 until brown. I have blonde hair, a ginger beard, have lived a life and career of so many lifetimes… all focused on the pursuit of loving life and The Secret to Happiness… although I didn’t necessarily recognise it at the time.   After dropping out of university and a Swinburne University BASc Biochemistry degree through lack of passion and zero desire to be stuck in a laboratory in 10-15 years time, I have served drinks and cleaned ashtrays back of house at Melbourne’s Crown Casino, spent 6.5 years jet-setting the globe with the rock star’s lifestyle without being the rock star as an Emirates Airline flight attendant, set a life up for myself as music industry professional, driving operations & logistics for music festivals/events around Australia such as Splendour In The Grass, event production and festival photography for triple j, created a music supervisor role for Ballistyx Snowboard Show on Channel GO! managed rock & roll bands and much, much more.     My life now, is so surreal. My main crust in 2017 is as a social media strategist and content producer. I work in an industry that didn’t exist 15 years ago guiding national and global brands on their social media strategy in the digital sphere, including the likes of Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate, Peroni Italian Beer, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Kraft Peanut Butter, Bulmers Original Cider, Miller Genuine Draft, Cancer Council Australia, Salesforce (through Mahlab Content Agency) and many more.    And all of this from a guy with no degree who dropped out of university… not once, but twice! The 1st was the BASc and the 2nd a Masters of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, which I dropped out of as I was spread too thin and didn’t wish to wait 4 years to start chasing new opportunities… I’m still not convinced you can teach entrepreneurship, but that’s another story

Ingredients: 2 packages of Philadelphia Cream Cheese - "1/3 Less Fat" 2 cans of minced or diced clams 1 onion 1 ball of garlic Worcestershire sauce Milk (optional) Instructions: 1. Add all cream cheese to bowl. 2. Pour one can of clams into bowl, including the juice. 3. Drain the second can of clams, and put the clams in the bowl. 4. Press 2 decent-sized cloves of garlic through a garlic press and add to bowl. 5. Chop up an onion and don't cut your fingers. 6. Add 3/4 of 1/4 cup chopped onions. 7. Add 3 to 4 shakes of Worcestershire sauce. 8. Mix it all up. 9. Serve with potato chips. Recorded before a live studio audience. Music by moonrocket.
