He walks us through his entire career, from moving to LA, getting his SAG card, the importance of a strong actor community (which he found at SKS!), booking his first series regular role, working with Tom Cruise on Top Gun, and his incredible experience as the lead on Quantum Leap. There is so much amazing advice for actors in this episode and we are so excited to share it with you! Discovering SKS and how it helped in train his audition muscle. “And it was so important at that time to learn how to audition, because auditioning is such a strength and a skill in and of itself. Once you're on set, it can feel a lot different. But it was important that we had to figure out how to audition, which is where SKS case came in.” 10:04 At SKS I took away the most important lesson of all, which is to stay positive, to stay hopeful 10:24: You don't rise to the occasion. You fall to the level of your training. 12:56 Demystifying the audition process in classes at SKS 15:46 You didn't come to LA to sit on the bench…… 18:19 Relocating to New York after being cast in the play Vietcong and how the role helped transform him into a true leading male actor. 19:47 How Colleen helped bring the leading man out of him during and audition coaching. 24:07 When actors say “I want to make this different”. It's already different – YOU make it different. Embrace what you bring to the role. 25:21 The process of auditioning and booking the Alan Ball show Here and Now. 30:01 How becoming a dad changed Ray and changed the types of roles he was playing. 34:23 Ray shares his epic audition story for Top Gun: Maverick. 40:09 Life lessons from Tom Cruise on set of Top Gun. “as an actor, you can never know enough. I can do everything now at my age, because I was interested in doing everything. You need to be good at everything, because you never know when you're going to use this stuff.” 44:05 INSIDE STAN KIRSCH STUDIOS SEGMENT (our ode to James Lipton) 48:17 How Ray took care of himself during the long hours of shooting Quantum Leap. 51:14 Colleen and Ray working together on Quantum Leap and how special it was to watch the first episode.

The New Scooby Doo Movies was the place to be for 70's Hollywood stars! This week Jovial Jay and Shua celebrate this fun Scooby series and how much fun they were on Enjoy Stuff! Hollywood guest stars galore on 1972's The New Scooby Doo Movies! Join us as we look back on one of the most unique of the Scooby series. Listen in to find out who the morons are that are making this claim Modern day Scooby Doo movies are coming to Netflix October 1 What we're Enjoying Jay lept right into the new reboot of the Quantum Leap series, with Raymond Lee as the newest leaper. The premise follows a team that has been looking for Dr. Sam Beckett somewhere in time, but for reasons we aren't yet aware of, Lee's character Dr. Ben Song gets trapped for the same reason as the original. There's a lot of potential here and we can't wait to see where it goes. Shua got a bit more medieval by jumping into Amazon Prime's Tolkien series Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power. It's an origin story of the rings that takes place in a whole different age as the Peter Jackson movies. He is loving it! Sci-Fi Saturdays/MCU Location Scout 31 Days of Horror is coming on October 1! In the meantime, Sci-Fi Saturdays will be on a little break. But you can check out some cool new filming locations with his MCU Location Scout. There are new entries from She-Hulk and Thor: Love and Thunder. And don't forget his articles on MCULocationScout.com for some great, interactive maps of filming locations. Enjoy Cartoons! In 1972 Hanna-Barbera debuted the second chapter of the still popular Scooby Doo series called “The New Scooby Doo Movies”. This popular series ran 24 hour-long episodes, the only Scooby Doo series to be that long. But what really made it stand out was the “real-life”-ish guest stars in each episode. These guest stars joined the Scooby gang to track down the truth of a mystery. A lot of the guests were voiced by their true life counterparts, or at least the voice actors that portrayed the animated characters on other Hanna-Barbera cartoons. Some of our favorite guest stars were Don Knotts, the Harlem Globetrotters, Sandy Duncan, Davy Jones, Jonathan Winters, and Batman and Robin, and Don Adams. They got the opportunity to have fun with the Scooby gang and make us wonder who was going to be on next week. Did you watch The New Scooby Doo Movies? Who were your favorite guests? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Enroy Ruff” will get a special mention on the show. Let us know. Enjoy Pi Day with Jovial Jay and Shua as they take the idea completely out of context and talk about Private Investigators of 80s TV. It's a great episode to listen to 3.14 times! There are many ways to celebrate Pi Day on March 14. Whether you make a nice round birthday cake for Albert Einstein or share all kinds of round food with your friends, we think you'll have fun watching 80's TV shows about Private Investigators. Join us for a circular show of Magnum proportions on Enjoy Stuff! News Get ready for Easter candy and breakfast fusion with the new Rice Krispies and Apple Jacks treats And if that's not enough sweet morning candy for you, try the Dunkin' Iced Coffee Jelly Beans The Muppets' Electric Mayhem is getting their very own series on Disney+ There is an ‘I Am Legend' sequel being worked on with Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan The Quantum Leap reboot keeps getting new cast members. Raymond Lee will be the lead What we're Enjoying Jay is getting ready for Easter by exploring a variety of rabbit holes. One is Michael J Fox movies. Early movies like Midnight Madness and Teen Wolf make for a fun revisit of the actor's origins. Shua was surprised to enjoy The Batman as much as he did. It was an interesting take on the Dark Knight with a detective story and a surprising message of hope by the end. Enjoy TV! What is Pi? A delicious dessert? A mathematical constant? Well, yeah. But to recognize this year's March 14, with different kinds of P.I.s; private investigators of the 80's. Magnum PI pushed Tom Selleck to the top of fame when he starred as Thomas Magnum, private investigator staying in the mansion of Robin Masters and tormenting the butler, Higgins. All this while solving crimes while driving around in a fancy car. 1984's Riptide starred Perry King as Cody Allen and solved mysteries with his friends Nick and Boz, while driving around in a fancy car. Simon and Simon were two brothers who, while opposite in a lot of ways, were great at solving mysteries and driving around in a variety of fancy cars. Hardcastle and McCormick premiered in 1983 and starred the legendary Brian Keith as Judge Hardcastle who is trying to catch a bunch of criminals who escaped conviction with the help of a car thief named McCormick, who drives around in a stolen fancy car. Hunter set the stage for overly-macho guys who carry big guns, but sometimes have a female partner. Rick Hunter and his partner DeeDee McCall help to save Los Angeles, but don't always have the luxury of a fancy car. Spenser for Hire showed us that the great Robert Urich as Spenser, saving the day in Boston with his reliable and not yet Star Trekified Avery Brooks, while driving around in a fancy Mustang car. And this just scratches the surface. In our head cannon, they were all connected and worked for Angela Lansbury's Jessica Fletcher. What else can you do on Pi Day? How about some Pi-kus? Or maybe have a Pi-arty? Serve some Pi-themed food like Pi-napple or Pi-stachios. Whatever you do, have 3.14 times the fun on this fun Monday! Are you celebrating Pi Day? Do you have a crime that needs investigating? Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to podcast@enjoystuff.com

In the chaos of Sundance we had about 10 minutes to spare. Luckily Raspberry was just 7 breezy minutes between me and snagging some lunch. At minute 1 my eyes were quickly pooling with water, by minute 2 I had tears streaming down my face, by minute 3 I was laughing, at minute 4 I was laughing through sobs, coming in at minute 5 I was audibly crying and sucking back nose drool, rolling on to minute 6 I was in shock and by the final minute I had a tension headache. Raspberry is a film you have to experience for yourself There is basically one plot point that is a spoiler, so don't worry, I'll steer clear. A family is grieving the timely loss of their father and husband. With almost no dialogue, we have a sense of the family dynamics and each child's relationship with their Dad. What's more, we understand their fears and insecurities and how they are respectively dealing with their personal tragedy. The experience of Raspberry is deeply personal and offers its viewer a glimpse into the sometimes awkward situations we can't avoid. While it was mostly ugly crying for me, there is some levity brought by Raymond Lee. It's little things like movements and ever-so slightly jarring sounds, that make you giggle. Julian Doan played my heart like a mandolin In our interview with writer/director Julian Doan, he basically explains to us that every single emotional beat was planned. Every noise, every gesture was expertly created to sear my heart. Like I said, Raspberry feels born of personal experience and because of that, Doan sharing the film being a way to process his final moments with his own father was slightly less of a gut punch. I mean, it was still like when you catch your pinky toe on the coffee table, but at least I felt like I saw it coming. I know you're probably shaking your head because I know you think I'm a giant mush-ball that's an easy-sell for a movie like this, so if you don't believe me, maybe you'll believe Tim. ***************************************************************** Love the Podcast?
