David Waldman stares into the abyss of our next Trump weekend, but first, screams into the void of Trump Friday. Distinguished Professor and author Ian Reifowitz returns to KITM discuss his BRAND-NEW BOOK, “Riling Up the Base: Examining Trump's Use of Stereotypes through an Interdisciplinary Lens.” Buy this book, and not only will you be the hippest person on your beach, but you will also gain a thorough understanding of how Trump's use of stereotypes relating to immigration, race/ethnicity, and gender somehow keeps that jerk in power. Ian also argues that Democrats have drifted from Obama's unifying vision of America and need to reclaim Obama's inclusive, aspirational message to win again. Tom Homan reminds us that the less you look like Tom Homan, the higher your chance of having many bad things happen to you in the United States. With AI, you can look like anyone and say anything. Foreign leaders are under the mistaken impression that as long as their lips remain on Donald K. Trump's ass, they're safe. To Vietnam's surprise, Donald informed them they hadn't used enough tongue.

You served with honor, but the moment you take off the uniform, a new challenge begins: the battle of perception. This week's Tactical Transition Tips takes aim at one of the most misunderstood parts of veteran and first responder transition: the stereotypes that follow you into the civilian workforce. Labels like “too rigid,” “aggressive,” or “unable to adapt” are often handed out before you even speak. But what if you could see those coming—and build a strategy to disarm them before they stick? In this episode, we break it down by timeline:• For the Close Range Group (those transitioning within a year), you'll learn how to reframe the narrative in interviews and conversations—turning perceived weaknesses into leadership assets.• For the Medium Range Group (those 3–5 years out), we explore how to gather feedback from civilian peers now, building a professional reputation rooted in emotional intelligence, not assumptions.• And for the Long Range Group (a decade or more away), we show you how to train against stereotypes early—building the identity you want before anyone can assign you one. This episode serves military veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, EMS professionals, Marines, soldiers, airmen, and sailors preparing for military transition, law enforcement retirement, or an unexpected career shift.Whether you're wearing the uniform or preparing to take it off, your oath to serve still stands—and this episode will help you carry it forward.Get additional resources and join our newsletter via the link in the show notes.CONNECT WITH THE PODCAST:IG: WEBSITE: LinkedIn: SIGN-UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER:QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS:Susan G. Send us a textIn this episode we discuss the stereotypes that Caribbean American women face in the workplace. Join us as we kick off with Deanna, a vibrant soca music party blogger, who dives into her experiences of how her Guyanese heritage often becomes a central topic at work. Contrastingly, Alysia, our returning guest, shares her decision to keep her West Indian background private in her predominantly white industry to avoid being exoticized. Together, we unravel how upbringing shapes the decision to share cultural identities, the pressures to conform, and the complex balance between personal and professional lives. What do assumptions like "All Caribbean people are Jamaican" or "Caribbean women work slowly" reveal about workplace misconceptions? Through personal anecdotes and real-life experiences, we dissect these biases and the distinct perceptions faced by Caribbean-born individuals versus American-born individuals of Caribbean descent. Alysia sheds light on the different challenges each group encounters, emphasizing the importance of maintaining professional integrity while navigating these preconceptions. This episode is packed with insights on how cultural diversity influences workplace dynamics and the subtle ways Caribbean colleagues communicate and bond over shared heritage.Whether you're a freelancer or navigating corporate America, embracing and expressing your cultural identity is crucial. We explore the importance of sharing traditions, fostering understanding among colleagues, and dealing with microaggressions. Hear practical advice for young Caribbean professionals on integrating their cultural heritage into their careers without compromising their true selves. From attending cultural events to explaining traditional meals, we highlight the value of open dialogue and the impact of being proud of one's roots. This conversation is essential for anyone looking to navigate the complexities of cultural identity in the workplace while staying true to who they are. If you've spent time in the Porsche community, you've definitely met at least one of these people. Heck, maybe you are one of them (it's okay… we've all been there).⚠️ This episode is all about keeping the Porsche hobby fun, inclusive, and real.

This week on the Sumud Podcast, we're joined by Emmy-nominated filmmaker, writer, and actress Cherien Dabis—a bold storyteller whose life and work explore the power of identity, resistance, and the stories we carry. Born in Nebraska to Palestinian parents and raised in small-town Ohio, Cherien came of age during the first Gulf War, a time when neighbors turned on her family overnight. This political awakening eventually shaped her groundbreaking work, from Amreeka and May in the Summer to directing award-winning episodes of Only Murders in the Building and starring in Netflix's Mo. Her latest feature, All That's Left of You, tells the Palestinian origin story through the lens of one family across generations. Filmed during the current war, the production was forced to flee Palestine mid-shoot. But what emerged, as Cherien tells it, was “a film made from grief, love, and sheer determination.”
This week on Name 3 Songs… ⚡WE'RE BACK BABY! We're filling you in on everything that's been happening and all the ways we'll be back in your podcast feels and socials once again. ⚡Sabrina Carpenter announced her new album Man's Best Friend to be released just 359 days after Short and Sweet, but the bigger issue is the artwork itself for Man's Best Friend which has stirred much conversation about whether it's part of feminism or if it perpetuates the male gaze. ⚡Taylor Swift now owns all of her masters! We were expecting drama, we were expecting intrigue, but really, she just did something only one of the richest women in the world can do, and that's all there is to it. Paul McCartney doesn't even own his masters; fully owning your masters is a pretty abnormal feat, as song ownership is the main way labels recoup their money. ⚡ We're experiencing what the internet hivemind is referring to as a fascism indicator, with how many girlies who are known to exist under the LGBTQ+ umbrella are debuting boyfriends (and at the start of Pride Month!) Let's talk about Billie Elish being photographed with Nat Wolff, JoJo Siwa confirming her relationship with Big Brother co-star Chris Hughes, and Fletcher releasing her “sorry I kissed a boy but I had to do it” anthem. I'm sure you know about many of the tall girl stereotypes: masculine, intimidating, athlete, Amazon, etc. But there's one that is rarely spoken about, or at least I rarely speak about, and that is strong. Yes, physically, mentally, and emotionally strong. Were there any times when someone asked you to help carry something heavy and they said, “Oh, you're big and strong”? Or when you're facing struggles, someone may say, “Oh, you can handle it, right?” Those are just a few examples of this “strong” stereotype. Today, we're going to dive deeper into this and how it affects how people speak to and act towards us, so make sure you tune in to this episode! The automotive industry is perpetually evolving, demanding innovation, adaptability, and efficiency from dealerships across the globe. Enter the realm of outsourced Business Development Centers (BDCs), an emerging strategy to optimize sales processes and enhance profitability. In the Millionaire Car Salesman Podcast, hosted by Sean V. Bradley and LA Williams, these industry virtuosos peel back the layers of the automotive sales world to reveal the hidden potential of outsourced BDCs. The podcast offers a compelling narrative on the intricacies and superior advantages of outsourced solutions. This article deciphers those insights and explores how this model can redefine the conventional landscape of automotive sales. The Revolution of Outsourced BDCs in Automotive Sales In an age where efficiency and expertise reign supreme, the appeal of outsourced BDCs lies in their ability to significantly augment a dealership's sales capabilities. Sean V. Bradley notes, "There's a reason why 80% of all BDCs are broken or not profitable." The discussion reveals how relying on the expertise of outsourced BDCs allows dealerships to capitalize on specialized skills often lacking in-house. By engaging with professionals seasoned in specific tasks, dealerships harness a sharper competitive edge. Bradley points out that traditional, in-house operations often fall short, as they grapple with staffing challenges and expertise gaps. To illustrate, he shares, "You could try to do BDC yourself… and good luck with that." This symbolizes a departure from the do-it-all-internally mindset, urging dealers to embrace more effective, outsourced solutions. As Jenna Blankenbiller, Director of Outsourced BDC and Internet Operations, further elaborates, the commitment from outsourced agents in learning "your product knowledge, your dealership, your system," sets a solid foundation for success. Cost Efficiency and Performance: The Outsourcing Equation Cost efficiency combined with enhanced performance is the winning formula that defines the outsourced BDC model. Bradley emphasizes the fiscal prudence of this approach: "Outsourcing anything that you're not great at" is not just sensible—it's financially strategic. Traditional in-house operations often incur elevated expenses due to higher salaries, benefits, and turnover rates, coupled with a demand for continual training. On the contrary, outsourced BDCs present a cost-effective alternative without compromising on quality. Gladys Quitoriano, a proven asset from the Philippines, exemplifies how these agents often outperform their in-house counterparts, "sometimes 40 units a month," a feat that substantiates the economic and performance-driven advantages of outsourcing. The cross-cultural workforce, characterized by heightened motivation and a "strong work ethic," is a compelling element that propels dealerships towards unprecedented success metrics. The Indispensable Role of Training in Outsourced BDCs Effective training is the linchpin in transitioning theoretical potential into tangible success within outsourced BDCs. The podcast underscores the role of structured and continuous training as the cornerstone of excellence. Adequate preparation, including familiarity with dealership-specific CRM systems and robust product knowledge, equips agents like Ivy and Gladys to seamlessly integrate into dealership operations and consistently exceed performance expectations. LA Williams attests to the transformation achievable through diligent training, asserting, "When you begin to apply it, it can cause transformation." Such transformation is vividly embodied in Gladys's story, where a dedication to learning translates into remarkable sales achievements. The synergy between comprehensive training programs and the eagerness of outsourced agents results in an engaged, highly competent workforce, poised to drive sales advancement. In unraveling the power of outsourced BDCs, the conversation provoked by Bradley, Williams, Blankenbiller, and the international agent team illuminates a pathway for dealerships aiming to revolutionize their sales processes. The strategic implementation of outsourced BDCs not only enhances efficiency and reduces operational costs but also fosters an environment of continuous improvement through targeted training and expertise. As the industry leans towards leveraging global talent pools, the ability to intelligently integrate outsourced solutions into automotive sales models sets the stage for a thriving future in an ever-competitive market. I absolutely loved recording this episode with Hoa. We first met through my Tuesday night quiz at Rabbit Hole, and her warmth, wit, and honesty always stood out. There's a certain kind of strength that comes from knowing who you are, even when the world tries to tell you otherwise. That's what stood out in my conversation with Rio Ferdinand. Not just the success, but the mindset behind it: the habit of refusing to be reduced to a single story.Rio's journey is a lesson in identity, drive, and turning fear into fuel. With all the labels the world tries to throw at us, it's not just about ignoring them, it's about choosing your own. From the football pitch to the ballet studio, Rio shows us what it means to challenge assumptions and walk your own path, even when it's uncomfortable. In this episode, I also dig into a powerful psychological study that reveals how quickly our judgments are shaped by context, how one label can change everything we think we see. It's a sobering insight into how easily we box others in… and how often we do it to ourselves. If you've ever questioned the limits placed on you, or wanted to rewrite the script entirely, there's something in this one for you. Here is a list of studies referenced in the episode:Stereotype and Social Class Study.
