Thom Francis welcomes poet Don Levy who shared his work at the 2024 Word Fest Open Mic at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts on April 27, 2024. The Word Fest first took shape in 2001 as a one-day open mic in Thatcher Park, bringing together poets from across the region to share their work. Over the years, it has expanded into a week-long celebration of poetry and spoken word, incorporating workshops, poetry slams, performances, and its signature open mic event. After a break since 2019, the Word Fest Open Mic made its highly anticipated return on Saturday, April 27, at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts. The evening showcased powerful performances from featured spoken word artists and a dynamic lineup of open mic participants. In today's episode, we are thrilled to highlight Don Levy, a long-time area poet and former host of many open mics in the 90s and early-2000s, At the event, Don read a new piece, “My Queerness,” and some old time favorites such as the once-televised “Lobsters at the Grand Union.” You can find more information, photos, and videos on all of the Word Fest events on the Hudson Valley Writers Guild website, hvwg.org
Cold Spring supermarket now 'employee-owned' Positive outcomes were not the hallmark of the COVID-19 pandemic, but its aftermath did produce a silver lining for employees of the Foodtown supermarket in Cold Spring. They now own their company. Many of the Cold Spring grocery's employees worked through the pandemic, drawing praise from residents for the service they provided during what was an uncertain and anxiety-filled time. In 2021, the company converted its stores to "employee-owned" by adopting an employee stock ownership program (ESOP). "We realized we had to do it when we saw the job our associates did during COVID," said Noah Katz, the president and CEO of PSK Supermarkets. PSK owns 14 supermarkets in Nassau County, Long Island, New York City and as far north as Columbia County. Including in Cold Spring, 10 operate under the Foodtown banner while four are branded as Freshtown or Pathmark stores. The chain employs close to 1,000 workers, including about 40 in Cold Spring, Katz said, adding that, unlike payroll-deduction plans, Foodtown employees pay nothing to participate in the ESOP. Full- and part-time workers and managers become eligible for the program after working at Foodtown for a year. Each year, the company announces its share price and allocates stock to eligible employees. Employees' allocations are based on their earnings. Employees are 20 percent vested after a year in the program, which means they collect 20 percent of the value of their shares if they leave Foodtown. Vesting increases to 40 percent after three years and 60 percent after five. After six years employees are fully vested. "But our goal is not for people to leave," Katz said. "We want them to stay with us until they retire." Mike Wilson, the general manager of the Cold Spring grocery, worked for its predecessor, Grand Union, for five years before it was destroyed by fire in early 2002. Foodtown opened at the same site in April 2003. "I'm excited about the ESOP; it will really help with retirement," he said. "Getting the stock also makes us more entrepreneurial, more invested in our future and in making the company better." "One thing I've always appreciated about working for Foodtown is they were family-oriented from the beginning," Wilson said. "ESOP is just another layer of that, trying to make us feel a part of their family." Katz said the company also benefits from employee ownership. "It gives everyone a stake in the company," he said. "It gives people something to work toward and helps reduce turnover." Initiating the program also made economic sense in the wake of the COVID-driven recession. Nationally, the number of employee ownership programs had declined prior to the pandemic, though it has increased since. The National Center for Employee Ownership estimated that in 2023 more than 6,300 U.S. companies had ESOPs, with 14.7 million participants holding more than $2.1 trillion in assets. According to Douglas Kruse, a Rutgers University economist, ESOP companies tend to be more stable financially, lay off fewer employees and have higher survival rates, especially during recessions. While the program is beneficial for employees, it is not tax-free. ESOP distributions are taxed as ordinary income and if participants sell shares they may owe capital gains tax on any increase in the stock's value.

Timm Buechler is one talented guy. He primarily plays bass, something he taught himself out of necessity. However, he also writes, sings, is a graphic artist, and he has a thing for 8-track tapes. He has toured with the likes of Paul Collins and Peter Case, played on sessions for Dwight Twilley, and even met Susanna Hoffs (The Bangles) once. After playing bass in different parts of the world, on national tours, and with several local bands, the cool thing you find about Timm is he's still very much in touch with his roots. Today he shares with us his stories. And his 8-tracks."Umbrella" performed by Rebel WaltzWritten by Timm Buechler℗ 1990 Archie's Tasmanian Music. Episode 138 Robert 'Robbie' Lamp In 1981, 27 year old Robert Lamp, or Robbie as he went by seemed to have a lot of things going for him. He was a young husband and father, and had recently purchased a home in a great neighborhood in Pennsylvania. Robbie was a successful manager of a Grand Union Super Market; in fact, he has done such a great job, that the company asked him if he'd work at their store in Hillandale, Silver Spring, MD- a store that was in need of a good manager to help run it. It was a good opportunity for Robbie, but since he has just settled his family in Pennsylvania, he decided that he would travel back and forth from Pennsylvania to Maryland instead of uproot his family. By March, 1981, Robbie had settled in to his position at the new store alongside his co-workers, but a violent robbery of a Safeway store just down the street in which a store manager was shot, was on Robbie's mind. He requested security guards from corporate for the store, but his request was denied. Robbie instead had to rely on his training which taught him that in the event of a robbery, to fully cooperate and hand over the money in order to keep himself, his employees, and customers safe. Unfortunately, on March 27th of that year, Robbie's Grand Union store was robbed, and despite cooperating fully with the robbers, Robbie was shot to death as he lay helpless on the floor alongside store employees and customers. His killers fled from the store and escaped, leaving Robbie's family to deal with the aftermath. Later that year, Police connected two men to not only Robbie's murder, but to the earlier Safeway shooting, and other crimes. Arrested were 22 year old LeRoy Jenkins and 25 year old Jerome Dudley. Robbie's family assumed that justice would be done and Robbie's killers would be in prison for the rest of their lives. Years later, they were shocked to find out that the suspects in Robbie's murder had never even been indicted for murder in Robbie's case, and although one of the two suspects had died, the other was still alive and was a free man. Robbie's brother Olen Lamp set out to get to the bottom of what happened. He sought out and teamed up with Tom Ponton, who was a co-worker of Robbie's and was on the floor next to Robbie when he was killed. Together, Robbie and Tom filed FOIA requests, and sought out the help of reporter Paul Wagner of NBCNews4 out of Washington DC in an effort to shine a brighter light on just what happened and how suspects in Robbie's murder case were able to somehow slip through the cracks. To date, Robbie's murder case remains officially unsolved, and noone has been prosecuted for it. In this episode, you'll hear from both Robbie's brother Olen who discusses how his brother's murder affected their family, and his efforts to get justice. You'll also hear from Tom Ponton, Robbie's co-worker who walks us through the tragic events of that fateful night in March 1981, and how he came to team up with Olen to find out the truth. Welcome back to Book Chat, a new monthly books podcast brought to you by novelist Bobby Palmer and journalist Pandora Sykes, which does what it says on the tin: we each bring one book, and we chat. Our one rule? The books have to be more than 2 years old. NB: this is a meaty book chat, not a book review show, so if you have not yet read the books, there will be spoilers. For our second episode, Pandora brings White Teeth by Zadie Smith (2000) and Bobby, Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata (2016, trans. 2019). Both books were huge bestsellers and launched each woman as a "literary sensation". Banbury has a significant place in the history of canals, most notably for being the location of Tooley's boatyard and its association with canal restoration campaigner LTC (Tom) Rolt. However, the relationship between town and canal has not always been easy. Join me today, as we explore the town through the eyes of Temple-Thurston, Rolt, and Pearson, from the comfort of a coffeeshop window seat on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Journal entry:7th May, Saturday"Another early start. At least it is now beginning to get light when Donna leaves for work, Chalky whites and greys leaching the darkness and stars from the night. A busy day lies ahead. One from which I shrink. And so I make another cup of tea and sit on the stern in the chill of first dawn. The swans are still asleep. The cob tucked beside his mate on the nest. A breeze ruffles the deep umber water. A mallard swims over. Chuckling to me, he eyes me with curiosity and caution. A swallow swims the air above the water and then alights on a boat's aerial. I stare at nothing. Hear nothing. Lost on the still waters of the mind. I want to hold this fragile moment forever, drink deeply from it, But I don't know how." #penguinaudio #audiolibro #audiolibros #Zadie #Smith #ZadieSmith See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Sydney rock outfit The Grand Union have achieved in just a few months what many in the industry have strived sometimes years for.Their blending of blues fuelled hard rock with lashings of metal sprinkled throughout is a craft often too difficult to manufacture, but when someone gets it right the result forces the hairs on the nape of your neck to stand to attention. After releasing their debut single Cathedral Of Pain in May, The Grand Union have followed that up quickly with Darkest Horse, an epic and atmospheric hard rock number that will be released on October 15.Guitarists Stu and Rohin caught up with HEAVY earlier this week to discuss the new single."It's interesting,” Rohin began. “The musical content is sort of supposed to match the lyrical content but if we start with the music it starts with this opening melodic introduction that sets the scene as if you're in a barren desert land or rolling grass field. It then builds up into this hooky pre-chorus which is trying to build some tension and atmosphere before crashing into this rock style chorus. Throughout it the music has a motif that runs throughout the whole of the track which reflects what we're going for in the music video. Then there's this epic crescendo in the middle of the song with a guitar solo and acapella vocal which our singer Jack absolutely nails. That's the genesis of the song. Build some anticipation and then try and tear people's heads off (laughs)."In the full interview the boys talk more about Darkest Horse and its film clip, the guitar driven sound, how they have changed from the debut single to here, getting the balance between blues, rock and hard rock, future music, the different nationalities which make up The Grand Union and how they transform to the band's music, surviving COVID and more.

A lifetime ago, almost to the day, it turned cooler after an uncustomary warm and dry couple of weeks. Synoptic charts show high pressure moving up the country dragging with it frontal systems. No doubt, on that day, some looked at the clouds and grumbled. And life carried on as it had the days before. Engines shunted in sidings. People waited at bus stops. Shop tills rang out. Dogs barked. And, in the cabin of a small boat moored on the bank of the Grand Union, I took my first breath of air; sweet with cow pasture, and nettles, and paraffin. Journal entry:“27th April, Tuesday. This morning dawned with frost and golden washes of light. I discovered a new patch of cowslips and hawthorns budding, and the first mallow and bugle clusters shouldering their way into the sunshine. It should have been perfect. The birds sang with a brilliant clarity managing to subsume the aural gash of traffic. But it wasn’t. Everything felt a little off kilter. My shoulders and legs ached. - Not so much in pain – just an awareness of them being there, So that walking was not an automatic act, But a conscious and deliberative one. Consequently, it felt awkward, clumsy – not natural. The morning chill lost that exhilarating feel and sank into my bones. A racing mind that gravitates to the dark edges Where formless unease lurks. It was not that I was untouched by the world in which I walked, Those spots of beauty – touches of joy, But sometimes perfection and beauty lie in the small details Not the whole. Even Eden had its serpent. Et in Arcadia ego ‘Even in Arcadia , there I am.’” Episode InformationIn this episode I talk about my mother’s memoirs that she wrote about her time living on the canal. The fascination of boots and canals. Boots have always been one of the most essential pieces of equipment for canals and canal-life. In this episode we re-join impresario, journalist and social reformer, James Hollingshead on his journey up what would later be known as the Grand Union in the late 1850s. We will discover his fascination with the footwear of those working on the canals and find out that the importance of the boot for canal-life is every bit as true today as it was in Victorian times. Journal entry:“5th March, Friday. This week, after an absence of some weeks, the cormorant is regularly back. Always circling the tree two or three times, Always alighting on the same branch. The names we give to it sing like a litany or a darkly gothic ballad.Brongie, coal goose, cowe’en elder, lairblade, parson, morvran, carn-hoverer, sea crow, scart. It’s as if we recognise that we can never capture a life like this in a single name; Its strange elusive beauty, Its sleekness, its elegance and poise.Balanced there on that gnarled branch Caught somewhere between darkness and light.” Episode InformationIn this episode I read some extracts from John Hollingshead’s ‘On the Canal’ published in Odd Journeys in and out of London (1860). [REBROADCAST FROM OCTOBER 8, 2019] In honor of the debut of the book’s paperback edition, we’re rebroadcasting Zadie Smith’s interview from last October when her new collection of short stories, Grand Union, came out.
Pete Waterman, is best known as part of the hugely successful music production and song-writing partnership, Stock Aitken Waterman, creating hits for artists like Kylie Minogue and Rick Astley. But he grew up in Coventry close to the canal, and years of fishing with his father while on holiday at Braunston Marina gave him an interest in the canals and their history. Braunston Marina is situated at the junction of the Grand Union and Oxford canals, not far from Daventry. In this programme, Pete revisits his childhood holidays at the Marina and learns more about the important role it has played as the heart of the canal network. 2020 marks 50 years since the last regular commercial canal contract came to an end. It was called the Jam 'Ole Run and involved boats taking coal from around Coventry to a jam factory in London, going via Braunston. Pete finds out more about it, and gets to see one of the boats that was present on the last ever run. Produced by Heather Simons

In this episode, we feature a very special guest, Aleks' coach Jack Grattan from Grand Union Ju-Jitsu. Jack is a BJJ black belt under Cesar Lima, who started his branch of Grand Union Ju-Jitsu in Elephant and Castle just over a year ago. This is a longer form episode, something we usually try to stay away from, however, the conversation was fantastic and we didn't want to limit it to the usual 20-30 minutes. Make sure you listen through the whole episode as we talk through very interesting points on BJJ training and learning.
In this episode i am joined by Jack Sear. Jack is a fiancee, a father, a career salesman, and a UK BJJ standout hailing from the 10th Planet London system and the Grand Union gyms. We had a great conversation about BJJ, MMA and some of the future standouts in the UK scene. Jack spoke on what it is like to be a young father, and to have to balance being a high level competitor with family commitments. This was a really enjoyable refreshing conversation - have a listen and let me know what you think!
In this episode Lauren and Amanda will discuss the historic Stagecoach Inn and Museum and its accompanying ghastly residents in Newbury Park, CA. Amanda will discuss the numerology of the number 6 and Lauren will also give a brief overview of the history of the Conejo Valley and its native settlers, the Chumash tribe.
Join the Marshall Street Studios gang as they discuss relevant and irrelevant topics surrounding the Australian music industry. Touching on everything from their favourite bands to income streams, they will be joined by various band members and industry guests visiting the studios. This episode's guest is Ezekiel Thomas. Ezekiel is a musician/producer/songwriter that runs a studio "Entente" with friend and bandmate Michael Best. He sometimes plays in The Veronicas as touring guitarist/keyboardist and has worked with Em Rusciano to write and produce the music for her stage shows. Ezekiel also plays in Big Creature and Grand Union. What is it that short stories can do that novels cannot? Why does it appeal to some writers and not others? In this episode we embrace the short form and talk to three female writers keen to engage with this unique form of storytelling. Zadie Smith straddles the Atlantic to look at the differences between story culture in the US, UK and beyond. Julia Armfield invokes body horror and genre as she plays with form and liberates herself. And Naomi Ishiguro joins us in the studio to share her journey from student to published author as she launches her debut story collection. Books mentioned: Escape Routes, Grand Union, Salt Slow, Friday Black, The Light Years, Difficult Women.
Zadie Smith, beloved author of White Teeth, On Beauty, NW and Swing Time, reads from her first book of short fiction, Grand Union, and sits for a conversation with fellow novelist Jennifer Egan. The conversation was recorded on December 5, 2019 in front of a live audience at New York's 92nd Street Y.
Zadie Smith is known for her emotionally rich stories and unique perspective on contemporary culture. Smith wrote her widely acclaimed debut novel “White Teeth” as an undergraduate. She soon cemented her reputation as one of the most important voices of her generation with books like “Swing Time,” “The Autograph Man,” and "On Beauty.” On October 16, 2019, Zadie Smith came to the Sydney Goldstein Theater in San Francisco to talk with Isabel Duffy about her debut short story collection, “Grand Union.” Their far-ranging conversation ruminated on living abroad, maturing as a writer, and the catharsis of reading fiction and philosophy.
Racism is not her problem.
Between The Covers : Conversations with Writers in Fiction, Nonfiction & Poetry
“Grand Union is an unusual creature, combining all the experimental exuberance of a writer discovering a form with the technical prowess of one at the height of her abilities. The result is exhilarating. Between the covers of one book, readers will find such disparate forms as allegory, parable, speculative thriller and satire, as well as […] The post Zadie Smith : Grand Union appeared first on Tin House.

This month's show is called City of Voices in honour of our very esteemed guest, author Zadie Smith. We met Zadie for a live event in Sheffield to talk about her first short story collection, Grand Union, a playful, ambitious symphony of different voices, styles and forms. Listen in to hear about why we should all embrace our inner chaos, the ways our voices get co-opted by Big Technology, and for a more general chat about literature by authors like William Faulkner and Yaa Gyasi that encompasses a range of different voices. Plus, of course, all the usual recommendations.
Recorded live in Birmingham during Grand Union’s ‘Ways of Learning’ exhibition, this episode of Suite (212) Extra discusses queer consciousness-raising. Juliet talks to writer/artist Huw Lemmey about LGBTQI+ activism before and after the Stonewall riots of June 1969 in the US and western Europe; the use of direct action and think-ins by the Gay Liberation Front and others; how AIDS and Section 28 changed queer art and activism; the development of trans theory in the 1990s; and the state of queer politics and creativity today. Strap in and get hydrated ready for a mammoth episode this week with Charlie McVeigh. After a hefty rebuttal of the topics in our Gary Vaynerchuk episode, we simply had to get Charlie on to give his thoughts on the state of the industry and life after being bought by Brewdog. We cover: Million Pound Menu Why you have to innovate when times are good Building a concept with delivery & social media in mind Having the right people in a business to protect the brand Keeping things simple CHARLIE MCVEIGH Charlie McVeigh has been shaping London's bar, club and restaurant business for 20 years, having created, built and sold five businesses involving over 20 venues in that time. It all began in 1998 with the launch of Woody's, London's equivalent of Studio 54. Like the 1960s, habitués of this legendary London nightclub say if you can remember it you probably weren't there. Regulars included Kate Moss, Banksy, Jerry Hall and all the glitterati of Notting Hill. The club was also a financial success and quickly spawned hip neighbouring venues The Bush Bar & Grill and The Grand Union, a retro-boozer for the West London music scene. Charlie sold all three businesses in 2007 and embarked on the project that would define his career, The Draft House. This was the first pub group in London to really embrace London's nascent craft beer scene with the Draft House brand coming to promise good food, great beer and real people. The rest is history with the brand eventually growing to 16 pubs under the Draft House name and Charlie becoming a recognised authority on all things beer and pub. This business was sold to brewing giant BrewDog for a reported £16.5m in 2018. During this hectic period Charlie also found time, in 2008, to launch Le Café Anglais in Bayswater with noted chef and writer Rowley Leigh. This 175-seat restaurant was a radical reimagining of a Paris brasserie of the 1930s. Having just sold The Draft House, Charlie is focused on developing new concepts and mentoring / investing in growing businesses in the hospitality sector. Having built several businesses during economic downturns he passionately believes that tough times are a good time to launch and grow hospitality operations. Guido Adelfio on his passion for travel - "It's hard work. It's a lot of energy to fly to Europe for three days, do stuff the whole time, and fly home and head right back to the office, but I love it. The beneficiaries of that are our clients." Guido Adelfio, Global Travel Expert, Bethesda Travel A Ockershausen: We have a special guest here today for Our Town. A man who knows Our Town and probably knows your town and their town and every town. It's Guido Adelfio from Bethesda Travel, a very, very dear friend of WMAL for so many years. Guido, where did Bethesda Travel start? Guido Adelfio: Good morning, Andy! A Ockershausen: We did that already. Guido Adelfio: We did that? A Ockershausen: It's not morning, it's night. La Familigia, Antonio and Margaret Adelfio, and Bethesda Travel Guido Adelfio: Thanks for having me. Bethesda Travel started in a dream of my parents. In 1961, my father was working for Air France. A Ockershausen: He had been in the Italian Air Force. Guido Adelfio: He had been in the Italian Air Force. He was trained as a lawyer. They met in Capri, believe it or not. Got married here in the States. Went back to Italy. I was born. Back to Canada. A Ockershausen: I've been to your place where you were born, if you remember that. Guido Adelfio: That's right. That's true. A Ockershausen: I loved it. Guido Adelfio: Then, we stayed a few years in Canada. He got his law degree. Came to the States, practiced as a lawyer then started working for Air France. He was doing very well. The way I heard it, I was a child at the time, there was a promotion. Well, the French guy got the promotion and the Italian guy was left sitting at the desk. He said, "The heck with this. I'm going to start my own business." That was in December of 1961. A Ockershausen: Oh my god . . .that's 70-some years ago. Guido Adelfio: Well, not quite, but ... A Ockershausen: Feels like 70 years. Guido Adelfio: Almost 60. A Ockershausen: Guido, but did he start in Bethesda? Guido Adelfio: In Bethesda, right on Waverly Street. If you're familiar with the Vamoose Bus? A Ockershausen: Yes. Guido Adelfio: Where it stops on that same block, we had a rented office. In the day, it was the Suburban Trust Bank Building. Nearby, you had the Hot Shops. No metro yet. Bethesda's really changed. A Ockershausen: You mentioned two businesses that don't exist anymore. Guido Adelfio: Correct. A Ockershausen: Suburban Trust and Hot Shop. Guido Adelfio: There was also a Dart Drug. A Ockershausen: That's what happens. Guido Adelfio: There was a Dart Drug and a Grand Union. There was a Grand Union. A lot of stuff. A Ockershausen: Guido, when he started in the business, it was a different world, of course. He was on the ground floor of what was going to be the future, is travel. Guido Adelfio: Correct. A Ockershausen: I mean, people who help other people travel. Guido Adelfio: Absolutely. A Ockershausen: He was really on the ground floor. What Stamps Had to Do With It Guido Adelfio: When he was in University, he had two experiences, actually, three. One as a child. His uncles had a shipping agency. They used to bring home, this was a kid in the '30s in Italy, Mussolini was in charge. They used to bring home stamps from all over the world, decorated stamps. Sri Lanka, Brazil, Finland. As a child, that wakened him up that there was a world outside of Palermo, Sicily. A Ockershausen: Amazing. Guido Adelfio: Absolutely. That woke up his imagination. Then, after the war, he went in the Air Force. Then, he was in University. At that time, he had two jobs. One was, I think he thought he would meet more girls, but he got a job at the fledging Club Med that started right after the war as a tour guide. A Ockershausen: A Club Med! Guido Adelfio: Taking people, French visitors, it was called "Club Maaseik," at the time. This was '48, '49. Then, he morphed that into a job at the train station in Palermo assisting travelers who had com...

Contents. Origin and development of the United States flag. As views of a castle and an old crest are shown, the commentator explains that man through the ages has sought to distinguish his castle, his clan, or his country by means of a crest or a flag proclaiming his ideals. Animation is used to show the uniting of the crosses of St. Andrew and of St. George into the Union Jack, and the commentator explains the latter's importance to the origin of colonial American flags. Other forerunners of the Stars and Stripes pictured in the film are the red ensign flag, the Taunton flag, the Bedford flag, the Moultrie flag, the Bunker Hill flag, the pine-tree flag, the rattlesnake flag, the Rhode Island flag, and the Grand Union or Cambridge flag. Importance of the flag during the American Revolution is indicated. General Washington orders the Grand Union flown in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. A facsimile is shown of the original resolution passed by the Continental Congress, June 14, 1777, adopting the flag of the United States. The commentator explains that the stars were originally arranged in a circle, symbolizing a union without end. The Stars and Stripes are carried in a battle of the Revolution and are displayed on the occa_x001F_sion of Cornwallis' surrender. Vermont and Kentucky were added to the Union in 1791 and 1792; two stars and two stripes were added to the flag to represent the new states. A map indicates the expansion of the nation after the Louisiana Purchase. The addition of Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana is shown. The commentator describes an act passed by Congress providing that the number of stripes should be the original thirteen and that a star should be added for each state admitted. Scenes of railroad construction and Indian attacks on wagon caravans symbolize the period of westward expansion. The addition of Arizona and New Mexico in 1912 is shown on the map. As the commentator says that the parade of the Stars and Stripes is now complete, the map fades into the United States flag. President Wilson is shown signing the act of May 30, 1916, which established June 14 of each year as Flag Day. A map shows all of the states, together with United States possessions. The film closes with views of battleships, aircraft carriers, airplanes, and the United States flag. Appraisal. Reported good for (1) giving the historical background of the development of our flag and (2) developing an appreciation of the flag as a symbol of the nation. This film should be particularly valuable for use in connection with Flag Day and other patriotic occasions. It contains much still photographic material, as might be expected from the nature of the subject. Color would have greatly improved the film. The commentary is interesting and informative.
