https://teachhoops.com/ Tim Sweeney, currently the head coach at Connecticut College, offers a masterclass in how to build a program centered on mindfulness, precision, and deep-rooted relationships. Having spent years at Davidson under the legendary Bob McKillop—including the historic 2008 Elite Eight run with Stephen Curry—Sweeney's philosophy is anchored in the "Cycle of Reflection." He teaches that a coach's most powerful tool is the ability to step back and analyze the why behind every outcome. By fostering a culture of gratitude and intentionality, he ensures that his players are not just physically prepared, but mentally anchored, allowing them to remain poised during the high-pressure NESCAC conference schedule. A hallmark of the "Sweeney Standard" is the belief that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. He advocates for doing a few things at an elite level rather than being mediocre at many. This approach is particularly evident in his emphasis on "Special Situations"—those final two minutes of a half where games are often won or lost. By drilling these scenarios with collegiate-level intensity, he removes the fear of the unknown, giving his athletes the confidence to execute their roles with clinical precision. For Sweeney, program building is about vertical integration; every drill in practice must directly translate to a game-day advantage, ensuring a consistent identity from the opening tip to the final buzzer. Ultimately, Coach Sweeney's success at Hobart and Connecticut College proves that leadership is a relationship-driven enterprise. Drawing from the McKillop model, he balances high-demand standards with high-level personal care. This "Trust Equity" is what allows him to push his players to their absolute ceiling. As you look to evolve your own program, Sweeney's roadmap suggests that the most enduring cultures are those where the coach acts as both a tactician and a mentor. By prioritizing character recruitment and emotional intelligence, he has created a sustainable blueprint for success that transcends the X's and O's, proving that how you lead is just as important as what you teach. Most men and women enter marriage wildly untrained—and then wonder why connection, intimacy, and trust slowly erode over time. In this powerful and deeply thought-provoking conversation, I sit down with January Donovan, founder of the Woman School and Wholeness Coaching School, to explore why information alone will never change a marriage—and why training is the missing ingredient for lasting connection.   January shares her personal story of trauma, mentorship, and formation, and explains how emotional command, discipline, tonality, and boundaries shape the way men and women show up in relationships. We talk about why modern culture resists discipline, how "freedom" without formation leads to loneliness, and why both men and women must train intentionally if they want marriages that actually get better over time. This episode will challenge the way you think about growth, leadership, and what it really means to live fully alive.     Timeline Summary [0:00] Why most people feel unprepared for marriage and parenting [2:06] Introducing January Donovan and her work training women globally [3:02] Why information alone never leads to real change [4:10] January's origin story and the wounds that led her to this work [6:12] The power of mentorship and intentional formation [8:33] Growing up with deep insecurity and identity wounds [10:17] Unprocessed trauma, abortion, and living in quiet desperation [11:52] How disciplined training reshaped January's life [13:18] Why women resist the word "discipline" [14:50] Formation vs. freedom and the danger of untrained choice [16:07] Emotional command and generational anxiety [17:37] Why marriage requires the same training as any profession [19:35] Decision-making, tonality, and communication gaps [21:12] Why motherhood feels overwhelming without training [22:02] Studying your spouse as a form of love [23:12] Larry reflects on minimal marriage prep vs. decades of marriage [25:10] Why people resist investing in growth [27:06] Distraction, shallow desires, and information overload [28:35] Re-educating sexuality and restoring healthy masculinity and femininity [32:30] Dad Edge Alliance preview call invitation [36:14] Why training together is the future for men and women [40:18] Micro-skills that shape daily life and marriage [43:07] Tonality and how women can build or break men emotionally [47:02] Proactivity, masculinity, and relational safety [49:25] Gossip, integrity, and protecting your spouse's reputation [53:20] Excellence, interior freedom, and choosing your highest good [59:02] Casting a long-term vision for marriage and legacy     Five Key Takeaways Marriage doesn't fail because people don't care—it fails because they were never trained. Information without formation leads to frustration, not transformation. Discipline and emotional command create freedom, not restriction. Tonality, presence, and self-regulation shape attraction and safety in marriage. Men and women must train together if they want relationships that thrive long-term.     Links & Resources Dad Edge Alliance Preview Call: https://thedadedge.com/preview January Donovan Website: https://januarydonovan.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/january.donovan_/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@JanuaryDonovan Episode Show Notes & Resources: https://thedadedge.com/1436     Closing Remark If this episode challenged how you think about marriage, growth, or leadership, please rate, review, follow, and share the podcast. The Deep Theology of Sexual Unity (With Some Fun!): Interview with Randy and Rozanne Frazee You're not just trying to survive another week. You're not just trying to get the kids fed, keep the peace, and hold your marriage together with duct tape and prayers. You're living inside a bigger story—whether you realize it or not. When you start seeing your marriage through God's storyline instead of just your stress and circumstances, something shifts. Not overnight. Not magically. But deeply. Steadily. For real. And that's exactly what Randy and Rozanne Frazee unpacked in today's episode. In this episode, you're getting a conversation that is both wildly profound and surprisingly fun. Because yes—you can talk about theology, the Trinity, the image of God, and sexual unity… and still laugh. And that's exactly what happens when you sit down with Randy and Rozanne. They've spent decades helping believers understand the Bible not as scattered verses—but as one cohesive story of God's love and pursuit. Randy has been a pastor for 38 years and had a personal mentoring relationship with Dallas Willard—so much so that Dallas asked him to rewrite Renovation of the Heart for students. And Randy and Rozanne are not just brilliant—they're the real deal. High school sweethearts, married 44 years (going on 45), four kids, and now five grandbabies in the mix. What makes this episode so special is this: They don't just talk about the Bible. They talk about how the Bible transforms marriage, unity, and yes… even your sex life. You Keep Reading the Bible Like a Reference Book… But It's Actually a Love Story You've probably been taught to read the Bible in pieces: a Proverb for wisdom a Psalm for comfort a verse for anxiety a passage when your marriage is hard And those are good. But if you only ever grab the Bible for a quick fix, you can miss the whole point: it's one grand love story—from Genesis to Revelation—about the lengths God will go to get you back. When you start seeing Scripture as one unfolding narrative, you stop reading it like a scattered collection of morals… and you start hearing it like a steady message: God is pursuing you. God is restoring you. God is rewriting what sin tried to destroy. And yes—this includes your marriage. You're Not Just Living a Life… You're Living a Story You live in what Randy and Rozanne call the "lower story": Lunches. Laundry. Bills. Hormones. Conversations you're avoiding. Tension you can't name. The ache of feeling alone, even though you're married. And it's real. But there's also an "upper story" happening at the same time: God's bigger plan, God's spiritual reality, God's redemptive work that you can't always see while you're in the middle of the mess. You see it clearly in Scripture: Job experiences devastating loss in his lower story… while an unseen spiritual battle is happening in the upper story. Joseph is betrayed, enslaved, and forgotten in his lower story… but God is positioning him in the upper story to preserve His people. That's why Joseph can say, "What you meant for evil, God meant for good." It doesn't mean the lower story didn't hurt. It means the pain wasn't the point. So ask yourself: What if the hard thing you're living through right now isn't proof you're failing… but proof God is working? God Created Marriage to Reflect His Image—and Sin Has Been Trying to Ruin It Ever Since You've heard the phrase "two become one." But you might not realize how sacred that actually is. Marriage wasn't just meant to be companionship. It was meant to reflect something divine: unity, love, covenant, oneness. In the beginning, God says, "It is not good for man to be alone." And you can read that like, "Aw, God wanted Adam to have a friend." But it's deeper. God Himself is relationship—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Not isolated. Not independent. Not self-focused. Unity. So when God creates marriage, He's not just giving Adam a partner. He's giving humanity a living picture of His image. And that's why the enemy attacks it so relentlessly. Because if your marriage reflects God's love, covenant, and unity… it becomes a threat to darkness. You Can Know Scripture… and Still Not Live It One of the most powerful themes Randy and Rozanne address is something you've probably seen too: You've met people who know the Bible. They can quote verses. They can correct theology. They can debate Greek words. And yet… They aren't gentle. They aren't kind. They aren't tender. And you're left thinking: How can someone love God's Word and still not look like Jesus? Randy explains this through something he learned from Dallas. He describes the difference between: believing something is the "right answer" versus believing it as a "way of life" And this matters for your marriage, because it's the difference between: knowing what love is supposed to look like and actually becoming the kind of person who naturally loves well The "12-Inch Journey" That Changes Everything Randy talks about the journey from: Head knowledge → Heart transformation And he explains it in a way that lands: When Jesus says, "Turn the other cheek," He isn't just commanding you to grit your teeth and try harder. He's describing what becomes natural when your heart has been reshaped. And that is what every marriage needs. Not just more information, but more transformation. Sexual Unity Isn't Just Physical… It's Theological If you've ever wondered why marriage feels so sacred—and so fiercely contested—this is why. Lean in, because this is where things get breathtaking. Randy explains the concept that: God is three Persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) who share one Being And marriage—two becoming one—is meant to reflect that kind of unity. Not perfectly. Not as God. But as an earthly image. And Rozanne brings it back to the practical: Sexual intimacy bonds you in a way nothing else does. It is not "just physical." It is a sacred expression of covenant oneness. And when you treat your spouse like an "other" instead of part of your own being… You start wounding your marriage from the inside. You Don't Need Your Husband to Be a Seminary Graduate to Be a Spiritual Leader If you're a wife reading this, you may be carrying a burden you were never meant to carry: "I'm the one who prays." "I'm the one who gets us to church." "I'm the one trying to get him to lead." "I'm exhausted." And if you're a husband reading this, you may feel stuck too: "She knows more than I do." "I don't even know where to start." "I work hard, but I still feel like I'm failing." Here's something freeing: Spiritual leadership isn't about being the most impressive. It's about being the one who initiates. The leader is the starter. The one who creates space where spiritual thriving can happen. That might look like: "Hey, let's read something together for 15 minutes." "Let's pray before dinner." "We're going to church as a family." "I want God in our home, and I want to learn." That's leadership. And yes—your wife might know more Scripture right now. But what she's been longing for isn't your performance. It's your presence. Your courage. Your initiation. If You Want Him to Rise, Stop Coaching His Weakness and Start Naming His Strength This is where it gets tender. Because if you're honest, you've probably tried to motivate him with disappointment. You've tried to push him into leadership by pointing out everything he's not doing. You want to feel safe. You want to feel supported. You want to be led. But here's something you need to understand about men: Men move toward competency, not incompetency. If you highlight his failure, he retreats. If you honor his effort, he leans in. So if he makes even a small move—don't critique it. Celebrate it. If he picks up a Bible, don't correct how he reads it. If he prays, don't edit his words afterward. If he initiates church, don't mention that it's "about time." Instead, try this: "Thank you. That meant a lot." "I feel cared for when you do that." "I'm grateful you're leading our family." This isn't fake flattery. It's faith. It's calling out the man you want him to become—while giving him a reason to keep going. Your Intimacy Will Not Heal If You Keep Avoiding the Scariest Conversations One of the enemy's favorite strategies is fear—specifically fear that keeps you from talking honestly about intimacy. You live with this person. You share a bed. You share a home. So why does it feel terrifying to say what you want? What you need? What hurts? What you're longing for? Because intimacy is powerful. And the enemy knows if he can keep you silent, he can keep you disconnected. But if you can learn to speak with tenderness, honesty, and safety… You can rebuild something beautiful. And here's the truth: Sex isn't dirty. It's sacred. It's a physical expression of covenant oneness. And when joy rises in your relationship, romance often rises too. Not because you force it. But because safety creates desire. And desire grows where connection is nurtured. You Don't Need Two Hours a Day. You Need One Small Step of Obedience. You might be thinking, "Okay… but I'm tired. Our life is chaotic. Where do we even begin?" Begin small. Set a timer. Fifteen minutes. That's it. Obedience comes before blessing. And when you take one small step toward God together, it does something inside you. It starts moving belief from your head to your heart—where real transformation happens. Little by little, fruit grows. And fruit isn't for the tree. Fruit is for the person who tastes it. Which means: your spiritual growth is meant to bless your spouse. Your Next Step: See the Bible as One Story (Not a Scavenger Hunt) Randy and Rozanne recently released a book called Encountering God's Love: From Genesis to Revelation. And their heart behind it is simple: Most believers don't struggle because they don't love God. They struggle because they don't understand the storyline. They know verses… but not the narrative. So this book is designed as 52 weeks of bite-sized pieces, walking you through Scripture chronologically, helping you see: God's story your story and how your marriage fits into redemption And yes—this is something you can do as a couple. Even if you're exhausted. Even if you're busy. Even if you feel behind. Final Encouragement Your marriage isn't just a relationship you manage. It's a covenant you steward. And if you've been living like the lower story is all there is—God is inviting you to look up. He's writing something. Even here. Even now. Even in your marriage. So take a breath. Ask Him what He's doing in the upper story. And take the next step. Because your story isn't over. And God is very, very good at bringing dead things back to life. Including you. Including your spouse. Including your intimacy. Including your marriage. Blessings, The Delight Your Marriage Team PS - Want to check out Encountering God's Love for yourself? PPPS - Here is a quote from a recent graduate: "The atmosphere in our home was very toxic with lots of hollering and hurtful things said. There was no fun or joy. We were just existing.  This affected my thought life as I was very disappointed in myself and felt like I was a hypocrite as I am a leader in our local church and lots of people look up to me.  I felt like God was even disappointed in me.  I felt shame for not being a good wife...[Now,] I have become more aware of my actions and reactions to my husband, and realized I have the power, with God's help, to make our marriage good and to love my husband well.  The tools I have learned in DW will forever be in and on my mind as I focus on becoming the wife God desires me to be.  I have learned that sex is good and holy and also meant to be pleasurable for me!  The atmosphere in our home is changing and playfulness is back!"

https://teachhoops.com/ Tim Sweeney, currently the head coach at Connecticut College, offers a masterclass in how to build a program centered on mindfulness, precision, and deep-rooted relationships. If a sports betting app has the data to know exactly when a user is struggling financially, should it have a legal duty to cut that person off?On this episode of Capitalisn't, we dive into the murky waters of the American sports betting explosion. We are often told that legalization simply moves an existing black market into the light, but guest Jonathan Cohen argues that the issue isn't that we legalized the industry—it's that we did it "recklessly."Cohen, the Policy Lead at the American Institute for Boys and Men and author of Losing Big: America's Reckless Bet on Sports Gambling, joins Bethany and Luigi to outline the serious costs of this rapid liberalization. His data shows that legalized online sports betting is associated with a 25% to 30% increase in personal bankruptcies, a notable rise in auto loan defaults and credit card delinquencies, and increased cases of childhood neglect. Is there a way to fix this market so that it is fair for consumers without imposing such a high degree of societal cost? Host Luigi Zingales suggests a broader solution: a "fiduciary duty" for data collectors. When you give sensitive information to a doctor, accountant, or lawyer, they are bound to use that data only in your interest. If a betting app sees a user's credit card deposits being declined or identifies a pattern of "loss chasing," should they be legally required to act in your interest instead of targeting you with VIP offers? The Role of Unconditional Respect in a Healthy Marriage

Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 5, 2026 34:18 Transcription Available

Episode Summary: We all need to work a little harder at resting in contentment… realizing that sometimes marriage is a spectator sport. In a culture that encourages us to find our own happiness, fulfill self, give in to what brings us pleasure, lasting relationships must take a different approach. True selflessness is a reflection of God’s character. Although recent polls seem to indicate an equal divorce rate between Christians and non-believers, this is not exactly true. People who identify as Christians but rarely attend church have a 60% divorce rate while those who attend church regularly, just 38% have been divorced. It is easy to get caught up in the tyranny of the urgent and forget the very ingredients that build a healthy marriage. Join me with Nina Roesner as we discuss the role of unconditional respect in a healthy marriage. Quotables from the episode: Most people have heard the idea that women need love and men need respect, but in reality, don't we all need a combination of both? Yes. I think the Bible uses that language to communicate very specifically to husbands and wives about some very specific stuff. All relationships have challenges but the best ones surmount the hard times, allow these times to build the relationship instead of destroy it, and learn from one another. Do you respect yourself and others in your relationship through your communication? And I think we need to respect everybody and I think that's a loving thing to do. That's the key. It affects our communication and we can develop resentment, bitterness and unforgiveness over those little things that then stack up and they morph into a life of their own until one day the straw breaks and our spouses left going, "That was not a big deal. You could have just said put your cup in the dishwasher. But the truth is it's built up resentment over time because we don't communicate over the little things until they become a big thing. We do take things personally and it seems maybe I'm wrong but it just seems like over the past decade we're more quick to take offense over things that really don't need to be offended over all you have to do is turn to social media and see how quickly people are offended. If anyone had a right to be offended, it was Jesus. And yet he modeled for us good communication, forgiveness, love, and respect. The idea that men need respect is not just part of some formula but an aspect of the gender differences. Men are wired to protect and provide, and knowing they are appreciated is one of the primary ingredients in lasting marriages. When we get our identity from the Lord, then we're able to appreciate the strengths that God gave us and then bring forth those strengths in the relationship in a way that we weren't before. We are actually useful in that relationship in a way that deeply impacts everything. But so often we buy the lives of the culture and we go down these paths of thinking we're worthless or we're not valued and you know people treat us this way so it reinforces it or we're looking for that because if you have a belief like that you're gonna find it everywhere. But when we really have a solid identity in Christ and I don't pretend I'd be fully there, but I'm so much more there than I used to be. It doesn't matter what people say or do. On a biological level, God designed this so well, because your brain chemistry changes when you forgive. The other thing is, is it's a humbling activity that puts us in the proper alignment with the Lord because we don't have the right to harbor unforgiveness. We're not judge and jury over this other person, and by the way Christ already paid for that. So who do we think we are? Excuse me, the seat on the throne has been taken. get off, right? So, when we forgive, it's like the brain chemistry changes and we're able to then have a clean slate here. God uses pain in our lives to mold and shape us. Pain is the biblical path to growth. It’s not just the church itself that’s the key to a successful marriage; it’s all aspects of faith—prayer, Bible study, gratitude, God-awareness. It is easy to get caught up in the tyranny of the urgent and forget the very ingredients that build a healthy marriage. According to recent studies, being a committed, faithful believer makes a measurable difference in marriage. In this episode of The Retreat Leaders Podcast, Shannon sits down with Dan Berger to talk about something the retreat industry doesn't discuss nearly enough: belonging. Dan shares his personal journey—from selling his event-planning software company for $100M, to grappling with his own sense of belonging, to ultimately creating Assemble Boise, a retreat and gathering space intentionally designed for human connection. Together, Shannon and Dan dive into: Why men are facing a serious belonging and mental health crisis How retreats can act as temporary communities that create lasting impact Why small, intimate spaces outperform big, flashy experiences How retreat leaders can design environments that feel safe, connective, and meaningful And why belonging—not content—is what people are actually paying for This is a grounded, honest conversation about the responsibility retreat leaders hold and the opportunity they have to create spaces that genuinely change lives.   What You'll Learn in This Episode Why people aren't craving more content—they're craving connection How Dan's "belonging tank" framework applies directly to retreat design The four belonging personas every retreat leader should understand Why men's retreats and men's groups are more needed now than ever How intentional hospitality creates trust, safety, and transformation What post-COVID human connection really looks like (and why retreats are booming)   Notable Concepts Discussed The "Belonging Crisis," especially among men Retreats as containers for community, not just experiences Small-group power vs. large-scale events Ethical considerations around AI and preserving human-made experiences Designing spaces that do the emotional work before the programming begins Email Dan to get a free copy of his book, or to book his amazing retreat center and get a 3rd night free: dan@assemblehospitality.com Buy Dan's Book here: https://amzn.to/4qvuyts  About Dan Berger Dan J. Play Episode Listen Later Feb 4, 2026 38:33

In this live Q&A episode, Uncle Joe and I tackle some of the heaviest—and most common—situations men face inside marriage: supporting a wife through serious mental health challenges, staying grounded when divorce is still on the table, and learning how to lead with consistency instead of panic.   We respond to real questions from men inside the Dad Edge Alliance who are walking through postpartum depression, PMDD, emotional volatility, and marital uncertainty. This conversation is about becoming an advocate instead of a victim, choosing consistency over crisis-mode behavior, and learning how to lead yourself well—regardless of whether your marriage outcome is guaranteed. If you're in a season where hope feels thin and the work feels exhausting, this episode will remind you what leadership actually looks like when things are hard.     Timeline Summary [000] Opening reflections on fatherhood, sleepless nights, and perspective [3:18] Setting expectations for live Q&A and imperfect conversations [4:41] Corey's question: supporting a wife with postpartum depression and PMDD [6:19] Understanding PMDD as a hormonal sensitivity disorder [8:33] Why mood shifts are not character flaws or choices [9:58] Becoming an advocate instead of minimizing mental health struggles [11:05] Practical leadership: nutrition, structure, and reducing stress [12:25] Why a man's emotional and spiritual health matters most in crisis [13:10] Research on spiritual disciplines and emotional regulation [14:11] Becoming a "merchant of hope" in your household [15:00] Why men must take care of their inner world first [16:02] Corey shares his early experience inside the Dad Edge Alliance [17:02] Playing the long game and resisting discouragement [18:07] Using brotherhood instead of isolation [18:48] Announcement: Dad Edge Alliance preview call [20:15] Where to find episode resources and symptom notes [21:05] Second question: staying consistent while divorce is still mentioned [24:56] Identifying behaviors that contributed to marital breakdown [26:04] Why wives wait to see if change is real [27:16] Consistency as a non-negotiable value [28:46] Doing the work regardless of outcome [31:01] Why self-led change benefits you no matter what [32:24] Showing up as a grounded, playful, present father [33:37] Why it often gets worse before it gets better     Five Key Takeaways Mental health struggles are not character flaws, and leadership starts with education and empathy. Consistency builds trust, especially when a spouse is waiting for the "other shoe to drop." Men must do the work for themselves first, not as a strategy to save a marriage. Hope is contagious, but only if the man leading the home is grounded and regulated. Brotherhood prevents isolation, especially when marriage feels uncertain.   Links & Resources Dad Edge Alliance Preview Call (RSVP): https://thedadedge.com/preview Dad Edge Alliance (Marriage, Parenting, Health, Leadership): https://thedadedge.com/alliance All Episode Notes & Symptom Resources (Google Doc): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_4GeLtmhvbZg-ZzKvBWQyz5aneCcHCYOYfD-r0uzNnE/edit?usp=sharing Episode Show Notes & Resources: https://thedadedge.com/1435     Closing Remark If you're walking through a season where leadership feels heavy and outcomes feel uncertain, remember this: your consistency, integrity, and growth still matter. Thank you for being men who show up, ask hard questions, and refuse to drift. From my heart to yours—keep going, and live legendary.

Sam Ruthe 3:48 Mile @ 16, Cole Hocker #1 in World?, Millrose, Kiplimo's Record Gets Tossed

The 118th Millrose Games delivered a great show and we break it all down. But the biggest performance of the weekend was in Boston not Millrose as Sam Ruthe, just 16 years old, ran 3:48 in the mile to become the youngest man ever under 3:50 by more than a full year. Cam Myers dominated the Wannamaker Mile in 3:47, Colin Sahlman broke a 37-year-old NCAA 800m record with a 1:44.7 victory, and Cole Hocker looked every bit the world's best distance runner in winning the two mile. Meanwhile, Roisin Willis set the American indoor 800m record in Boston, Nikki Hiltz got a big win, and Cooper Luktenhaus added another high school record to his collection. But it wasn't all celebrations. Is Bryce Hoppel's window closing? Why can't Ollie Hoare find his form? Is Hobbs Kessler's injury excuse a relief or a red flag? The episode also digs into the controversial decision by World Athletics to invalidate Jacob Kiplimo's 56:42 half marathon world record due to drafting behind the lead vehicle. Plus: Is it good for young stars to experience defeat? Should Cam Myers skip World Indoors for a domestic meet? And what exactly happened with the Millrose pacing lights?

Caravaggio - Trailer

Rome. 1610. A painter who sees God in the faces of prostitutes and killers is on the run for murder. His name is Caravaggio. He drinks too much. He loves recklessly. Men, women, it doesn't matter. He picks fights with swordsmen and screams at the heavens in candlelit chapels. He paints the way other men pray, except his prayers are in defiance. And the Catholic Church can't decide whether to pardon him or let the bounty hunters finish the job. This screenplay by Richard Vetere, a Pulitzer nominee and Golden Palm winner whose work has been produced by Francis Ford Coppola, follows Caravaggio from the brothels of Rome to a besieged fortress on Malta where a scarred Grand Master offers him sanctuary and something that looks a lot like love. But sanctuary has a price. And Caravaggio has never paid what he owes without bleeding for it.There are popes making deals in candlelight. Brothers hunting him across the Mediterranean for killing their own. A muse he left behind in Rome who can't wait much longer. A rival painter who despises his work and can't stop staring at it. Knights nailed to crosses and set on fire floating into the harbor at dawn. A prison cell carved into rock like a grave. And an escape across open sea in a fishing boat guided by a boy too afraid to speak. This is not a quiet period piece. This is Game of Thrones in Renaissance Italy with paintbrushes and rapiers.Craig Parker, who played Haldir in Lord of the Rings, plays Caravaggio. Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Bruce Davison plays the Grand Master. Dan Lauria, America's dad from The Wonder Years, plays the Cardinal pulling every string in Rome. Ray Abruzzo, Little Carmine from The Sopranos, plays the Pope. The cast includes Broadway veterans, stars of The Chosen, the voices behind the biggest video games on the planet, and a former Navy test pilot born in Italy playing an Italian swordsman.Fourteen actors. One genius who painted like God was guiding his hand and lived like the devil was chasing him. Turns out both were true. This is Caravaggio. This is Table Read.
