Sommerferiepraten fortsetter i LOLbua, med dine to favorittverter. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Olivier Deriviere, Lena Raine, Joris de Man and Chipzel answer listeners' questions about making music for video games, in a special of edition of Music Life for the World Service Festival. The group will be discussing everything from composing vertically and horizontally, how to write music that reacts to your game playing, and easy ways of building energy, to using artificial intelligence in composition, balancing the music with sound effects, and arguing with yourself. Olivier Deriviere is a French video game music composer best known for his work on Alone in the Dark, the Streets Of Rage series, and Assassin's Creed 4: Freedom Cry. His style blends traditional musical elements with unorthodox sound techniques. Lena Raine, is an award-winning American composer and producer best known for soundtracking acclaimed indie video games Celeste and Guild Wars 2, as well as composing for Minecraft. Dutch composer Joris de Man's eclectic style has earned him an Ivor Novello Award and BAFTA nomination, and he blends everything from glitchy electronica to orchestral sounds. His compositions include the Killzone franchise, Vainglory, and the blockbuster Horizon Zero Dawn. Niamh Houston, AKA Chipzel, is a Northern Irish composer who specialises in “chiptune” music. It's a vintage, 8-bit computer sound and she still composes on a Nintendo Game Boy to write and perform her retro sounds. She has composed soundtracks for Super Hexagon, Interstellaria and Dicey Dungeons.

RetroSaludos Josua Ckultur & La Alegre Pandilla

Ep 12! The Improv is Dead Podcast's Tim Lyon's joins us! (Twitter)This week's cause is "My Block, My Hood, My City." Every month, MBMHMC takes a group of interested teenagers on a city-wide exploration, visiting hidden gem businesses and artful intersections, uncovering neighborhoods and challenging preconceived notions. By taking local youth outside their comfort zones, but right next door in their own city, they can see what Chicago has to offer, and experience a different perspective that will awaken ownership and pride in them.Check them out on Twitter and donate on their websiteThis week we played......Bumper BossThe Death of the Corpse WizardSuper HexagonNine Lives of Nim About the podcast.....Welcome to bundle buddies, we are playing through the ENTIRE itch.io Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality. What is the itch.io Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality? In June 2020, in response to the massive social movement following George Floyds murder, Indie gaming marketplace / community itch.io but together a game/media bundle with all proceeds going to support organizations that are working directly with those affected by racial injustice. When all was said and done the bundle included 1741 items from 840+ creators. It raised $8,153,803.03 for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Community Bail Fund split 50/50. A truly incredible amount, and a testament to peoples desire to see justice enacted. If you are one of those people who supported this worthy cause you have likely heard of the hits included in the bundle, but there is a LOT of stuff. Some great, some insane, and some bad. it's tough to know where to start, or if a game if worth it. So we're here! Each week we randomly dip into a few of the 1365 are games from the bundle and sharing our thoughts. In the spirit of this bundle, every episode we highlight a new cause and donate. If you donate we'll give you a shout out on the show.Tune and and play along or just tune in to listen to two video game enthusiasts play some very wonderful and weird games.....and also some bad ones.Theme Song: Neoishiki by Role MusicHosted & Produced by: Eric T Roth & Alex Honnet
In this episode, we play the deviously-tricky “Looper,” a game about moving with or against the “flow” of looping strings. We talk about how circular, looping movement upends our intuitions about game controls, and we speculate about whether this game would be easier for people who have played fewer games. Blake compares this game to Super Hexagon, and Jordan gives us his spiel about why he loves game jams. My guest today is Sarah Elmahleh. Sarah is an actor and voice over artist and has worked on a whole bunch of videogames including Gone Home, For Honor, Call of Duty, Pyre, Galak-Z and Final Fantasy 15. She was also the lead in the recent - and excellent - BBC Radio play Game Over written by Emily Short. (This is only available until the 29th of January so click the link and listen now!)We talk about how games were a forbidden fruit for a chunk of her childhood, and how getting a PC changed everything. Her deep love for the Curse of Monkey Island and the subsequent radio play adaptation she made in college, how the Tango is a great example of emergent game play, the healing power of getting snowed in with Dragon Age: Inquisition, why The Mortician's Tale resonated with her so much, and how she got into games when she didn't know anyone in games (pro tip: meet Rich Lemarchand)."I don't think my father would approve of me dating the undead, and you're probably too nice a zombie-pirate for me anyway. My guest today is Omar Cornut, founder of Lizardcube and creator of the recent, and excellent, remake of Wonder Boy : The Dragon's Trap. We talk growing up in Paris and Egypt, the SEGA Computer 3000 (!), how he traded up from a home made Inidiana Jones board game to a Game & Watch, his founding of a video game course while still a student, and why Psycho Fox is burned into his brain. We also hit on Omar's role in the emulation scene of the late nineties when he created MEKA, one of the best Master System emulators, his time at Media Molecule, the complicated IP history of Wonder Boy, and how his quest to seek out every secret in The Dragon's Trap led to the founding of a company and the creation of a game. My guest today is AP Thomson, creator of Beglitched, the recently released iOS puzzler Swap Sword and many, many more. (My personal favourite is Tony Hawks Pro Dater.) He also teaches game design at NYU and has a masters degree from MIT. No big deal. We talk through the strange fear videogames instilled in him as a kid, and how Kirby's Block Ball helped him through to the other side. Why Cave Story made him want to be a game designer and how Pokemon will likely be here forever. We hit on his perennial love of hand helds, how he became one of the greatest Super Hexagon players in the world, why sometimes the most illegal games are the most exciting to make and, in a genuinely thrilling exchange, he offers a new reading on the themes of Ocarina of Time which completely blew my mind. Great talk. "Did you KNOW: fewer people have landed kickflips than have found LOVE." This week marks the triumphant return of the beerisistable Lucy Yearwood, along with the awesome two-some Ben & Aadil. We talk 'Mafia III', Ben gushes about 'Battlefield 1' (Aadil does too). Of course there are the obligatory mentions of 'Hitman' and 'Super Hexagon'. We then go on to talk all serious-like about harassment in VR, and gaming in general with the standard tact and politeness you all have come to expect. Also there are bits about official alcohol units, driving and all other kinds of nonsense. #theusual Ben and Aadil, despite being geographically divorced, had the Burning Sky 'Easy Answers' IPA, while Lucy started off with Ilkley 'Dinner Ale', a Victorian Pale Ale. In a totally planned occasion all three of us finish off with Arbor's 'Super Yakima' American Double IPA. Apologies the sound is a little wonk this week.

Another Will Smithisode as Ben and Aadil chat and drink. Ben went to the Playstation future of Play tour to try Eve: Valkyrie. Aadil rolls into chatting Super Stardust VR via a few more of the experiences and demos currently available for his new unit. They also both played Battlefield 1 and enjoy some multiplayer all out war. The episode concludes with a chat about Red Dead Redemption 2 and the Nintendo Switch reveals. Beers! Brewdog Pumpkin King, Siren Craft Brew White Tips white IPA and Bristol Beer Factory Ultimate Stout.
Another of our patented two-fers. Ben and Aadil chat “Destiny” and “Deus Ex: Mankind Divided” before discussing this weeks topic, Virtual Reality first experiences and loose headset comparisons. Aadil tosses back the ‘Wild Hare’ Pale Ale by Bath Ales, and then the “N7” IPA by Hammerton Brewery. Ben goes for a Wiper and True ‘In the Grooves’ Amber ale, followed by a white IPA ‘Comet’ by Cloudwater. Apologies for the subpar audio quality, its a real trampoline episodes with ups and downs and unexpected audio injuries.
Holy Cow its episode 50! Another shortie, this time we chat some free games, “Transformers: Devastation” one of this months PS+ grabs, “Star Trek Online”, and then Aadil rambles on about “Warframe” as if it was his destiny. Plus the last of our interviews from EGX: Into the Black VR. Oh, and there be a celebratory contest too; free games to be had. Our beer this week is a collabo between two familiar faces, Arbor and Wiper & True’s ‘Clogwork Orange’ Tanked Up 50 – Warframe not Worf Aim

Andelect and Vopperough steadily master the game of friendship, via the medium of Diablo 3 (At least, whenever Vopps isn't out stabbing orcs). Odward picked up a brief interest in Team Fortress 2, before slipping down the Takuna hole and getting stuck in some Super Hexagon. Next he'll be ranting about Dark Souls and we'll know he's truly lost. Seldom turns up and disgustingly hasn't done anything, except make poor, Jagerbomb-related life decisions. At least Jammy brought the wizard cards.
In this edition of GAMECHAT, Takuna becomes the golden god of Super Hexagon, Watch_Dogs brings out Andelect's inner botanist, we discover the secret to breaking into the games industry (Get bitten by a radioactive games dev), the gang ponder just how much red plaid and grizzle-beard is required to be Canadian and Spad is revealed to be a grumpy liar.

When it comes to conversations, especially between three talkative people, Twitter just doesn't cut it. Therefore, when Mattie Brice, Jorge, and I started trading tweets about the merits of difficulty in games, we knew it was time to change venues. This week, we're excited to have Mattie on the show to talk about the meaning behind the challenges games offer. We cover everything from Super Hexagon to Pokemon, and even throw in some parallels to BDSM to spice things up (Pro tip: don't Google BDSM+Pokemon…unless you're into that). Strap in, people… we got a long episode this week. With Nathan’s two-week absence, the two spend a good two hours running down their media habits for the last couple of weeks including Dredd 3D, Borderlands 2, Torchlight 2, Binary Domain, Looper, Julie & Julie and Super Hexagon before Nathan spends some time monologuing thoughts on cult-centric movies The Master and Martha Marcy May Marlene. After the break, the release of Resident Evil 6 sparks a talk about the quality of the series thus far and Nathan is excited for the sequel to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. Also, we choose and answer our winning questions for the Humble Indie Bundle 6 giveaway contest!
