We welcome our latest guest, Jessica Rhodes — founder of Interview Connections (pioneer podcast booking agency), to the show! She joins us to share how podcast guesting helps health coaches attract clients, monetize content, and build authority—plus practical steps to start now. In this episode, Jessica breaks down why guesting is the fastest path for health coaches to create content, grow visibility, and generate leads—especially when your best ideas surface through Q&A conversation. We cover when to host vs. guest, how to monetize (funnels, CTAs, affiliate marketing, repurposing), and why the green-room connection (before/after the interview) often drives real business. Why this matters for health coaches Complex, personalized services convert best through conversation, not scripts. Guesting = low-lift content creation + instant authority via borrowed audiences. Hosting builds a home base; guesting builds reach. Use both strategically. Key takeaways Start as a guest to clarify messaging; then consider launching your show. Treat your podcast (hosted or guest spots) as part of a marketing funnel: problem → value → clear CTA every time. Monetize beyond ads: affiliate offers, service enrollments, lead magnets, networking with hosts. Repurpose every interview: short clips, reels, emails, blogs—one appearance = weeks of content. Leverage the green-room chat (off-air). Relationships there often become clients, partners, or affiliates. Follow demand: pitch shows where your ideal buyer already listens. Action steps (do this next) Define one offer + one CTA you'll use on every interview. Draft 5–7 signature questions you answer brilliantly (and suggested questions for hosts). Create a repurposing checklist (clips, quotes, newsletter, LinkedIn/IG posts). Build a simple booking page/lead magnet to capture interest from episodes. Pitch 5 aligned shows this week—or work with a specialized podcast booking agency. Host vs. Guest — equal power, different benefits Guesting: Audience growth, authority by association, faster lead gen. Hosting: Consistent nurture for your list, message control, deeper brand assets. Monetization quick hits Funnel-first: every episode points to one next step (quiz, call, free training). Affiliate marketing works with small but engaged audiences. Track results: appearances → traffic → email signups → sales. Support the show Rate/review on Apple Podcasts and share with a coach who needs a guesting strategy. Keywords podcasting, marketing, entrepreneurship, Frugalpreneur, podcast growth, networking, podcasting community, podcast marketing agency, podcasting tips, podcast success Summary In this engaging conversation, the hosts discuss the intricacies of podcast marketing, the importance of building relationships within the podcasting community, and the journey of the Frugalpreneur podcast. They explore the challenges faced by podcasters, the significance of investing in quality equipment and networking opportunities, and the value of sharing personal stories and failures. The discussion highlights the supportive nature of the podcasting industry and the potential for growth and collaboration among podcasters. Sarah talks about podcast marketing, and the things that podcasters typically get wrong. She explains that simply sharing the podcast on social media is not enough, and that there are other ways to reach a podcast audience, such as paid ads, collaborations, and podcast guesting. She also shares her own experience with starting her podcast, The Frugalpreneur, and how it unexpectedly became a top 200 podcast in the entrepreneurship category. Sarah emphasizes the importance of enjoying the process and not being obsessed with rankings They discuss the impact of being in the Apple Podcast essentials list, and how it can increase visibility and listenership. Sarah shares her checklist for creating eye-catching cover art, such as bold colors and a focused design that stands out while scrolling through podcast apps. They also talk about the power of relationships and credibility that come with having a successful podcast. They brainstorm ways to further use the podcast to market the Frugalpreneur brand and services, including creating a mini-series and potentially getting into the New Forget budgeting strategy. The guest, Sarah, is from the Podcast Marketing Agency, and she talks about her journey in the podcast industry and how she helps podcasters market and grow their shows. She discusses the importance of networking and building relationships in the industry, as well as investing in conferences and high-quality equipment. Sarah also talks about the collaboration vs. competition mentality in the podcast industry and how that can help podcasters grow. Takeaways Podcasters often underestimate the importance of marketing beyond social media. Paid advertising in podcast directories can yield better results than social media alone. Networking at podcast conferences is invaluable for building relationships and growing your podcast. The Frugalpreneur podcast started as a marketing tool for a book but became a successful venture on its own. The podcasting community is generally supportive and collaborative rather than competitive. Cover art and podcast titles play a crucial role in attracting listeners. Investing in quality equipment, like a good microphone, is essential for podcast success. Sharing personal stories and failures can create deeper connections with listeners. Creating a mini-series can be a great way to explore new topics without committing to a full podcast. The journey of podcasting can lead to unexpected opportunities and growth. This will be the final episode of Podcast Talent Coach. It has been a great journey through 550 shows. But, it has reached its destination. WHEN I REALIZED IT WAS THE END I've met a lot of great people. The things I've learned are immeasurable. The journey has been incredible. As I was shaping this episode, I thought about a variety of approaches. The 7 things I learned over 550 episodes. The top ten people I've met. The list of mentors who shaped my success. Everything I considered seemed cliché. So, I'm just taking you to how it came to be. The end of the show came to me during my latest launch. As the cart close approached, I realized the end was near. WHERE IT STARTED This all started 20 years ago. In a March 2005 edition of Wired Magazine, I came across an article about MTV VJ Adam Curry. The article was called "Adam Curry Wants You To Be An iPod Radio Star". The article mentioned that Curry was the brains behind iPodder, described as the offspring of the blog and the Apple MP3 player. This was the beginning of podcasting. And I was fascinated. Unfortunately, I had no interest in tech. A few years later I got my first iPhone. I was soon downloading podcasts. By 2009, I was in love with the format. By this time, I had been coaching radio talent for about 15 years with a successful radio show of my own. As I listened to these podcasts, I thought they could be so much more effective if they just used the techniques we used in radio to connect with an audience. They just didn't know what they didn't know. It was still the wild west. MY PERSONAL LAUNCH I started creating content. By 2012 I was speaking on stage at events like New Media Expo and BlogWorld. In June 2013, this podcast was launched. It was also the month that Ken Allan became my first coaching client. He came to me help him create stronger content and a more compelling show. Over the years, I've coached many incredible content creators. I've created a few courses and live programs. There have been webinars that have completely crashed, 3-day events that have been incredible, and lots in between. As the years went on, I started drifting away from stronger content and more toward launching podcasts. THE DRIFT STARTED HAPPENING As I would explain what I do to help people create effective content, people would say, "That sounds great, Erik... but I don't have a podcast." Launching a podcast isn't the tough part. The struggle is figuring out what to do with your podcast. Getting to grow and using it to generate revenue are the areas that create challenges for people. But, they wanted me to help them launch. So, I did. I launched the Podcast Launch Accelerator to help people launch in 30 days. That's when I started attracting people who didn't have a podcast rather than those that needed help with content and growth. Two problems come from this. First, I was attracting people who needed help launching rather than those who wanted more effective content. Second, I was now more into tech and less into how to use it. Exactly where I didn't want to be. BACK TO MY ROOTS So, I got back to my roots. I dove into become influential with your content. My content became more about who you are, how you share your story, and how you move a room to action. We were talking less about how to launch. I recently did market research around influence and impact. I talked to dozens of people about where they struggle regarding becoming someone worth listening to. Their challenges were right in my wheelhouse. When the program was developed, I rolled it out. It was offered in one-on-one calls, workshops, and short info sessions. Of all the people who saw the opportunity, only one purchased. Over the years, I've tried different approaches with different courses. I have some amazing clients and a wonderful group program. The revenue has been solid and growing over the years. It just isn't where I hoped it would be. KNOW WHEN TO END IT Dan Miller was one of my mentors with 48 Days To The Work and Life You Love. He and I shared a birthday, though years apart. We lost Dan at the beginning of 2024. Dan always said you should be able to tell in about 90 days if a business idea has legs. He should know. Dan launched many businesses, some successful, some not so much. He also thought "winners never quit and quitters never win" was a false cliché. In a blog post and podcast episode, Dan said, "I constantly have areas in my business and life that are on the bubble. If they are not proven successful in a very specific period of time – they're gone – I quit but keep moving on to success in other ways." Dan's point was that winners know when to quit. NOT IN THE NUMBERS It happened as I was crunching the numbers from the latest launch and examining the results of 2024 in my business. I came to the realization that the success wasn't where I wanted it to be. During my mastermind call three days later, I explained what I was thinking. That when it was confirmed. It's time to find the next fun thing to pursue. There are 550 episodes here to serve you and help you shape your content. The first 275 episodes are solo with just me, except for episode 200. I sprinkled in some great interviews with some amazing people over the next 275. Find them all here: PODCAST TALENT COACH EPISODES It has been a blast. I can't thank you enough for coming along on the journey. We've done some incredible things. I'm not sure what's next. There are a few things I want to try. I'm sure a podcast will be part of it. I'm sure we'll cross paths again down the road. Until then, remember to always tell the truth, always make it matter, and always have fun. I'll see ya soon.

“But if you think about it, like if all 360,000 of these, like, law firms, not lawyers, law firms had their own brand out there, who's gonna rise to the top? The ones who are producing content that provides value, and then the ones who are producing content that has some good production value, and are the ones who are producing content that has some good entertainment value. ‘Cause I think that's the third leg. Because right now, just producing content is enough, but there's going to come a point where people have to be entertaining as well, where it's not going to be consumed.” – Dennis MeadorThis episode is the second half of my conversation with founder and CEO of The Legal Podcasting Network Dennis Meador, as we discuss Dennis's start in podcasting, his tips for putting together a helpful and accessible video for clients, and how AI is blurring the video/audio divide. As always, if you have questions for my guest, you're welcome to reach out through the links in the show notes. Plus, subscribing to the newsletter will let you know when the new podcasts are available, along with other interesting bits of audio-related news. And if you're getting some value from listening, the best ways to show your support are to share this podcast with a friend and leave an honest review. Both those things really help, and I'd love to feature your review on future podcasts. You can leave one either in written or in voice format from the podcast's main page. I would so appreciate that. (0:00:00) - Podcast Marketing and Communication StrategyThe second half of our conversation starts as Dennis shares his approach to winning older clients over to social-media marketing, and the challenge our online-first world can pose. “They'll say, ‘Yeah, if I can get them in front of me, I'll convert them 80% of the time,'" he recounts. “The problem is that 80% of the time, they check out your website and never do anything further.” He talks about short-form content and informational videos, and how they can help brands get a foot in the door when it comes to making an impression on clients. “When people search these very specific questions, now,” he explains, “all of a sudden, this attorney, especially with video and YouTube being owned by Google, their videos start to pop up, their podcast starts to pop up, their FAQ page starts to pop up.”(0:14:19) - Future of Podcasting and BrandingDennis and I talk about how remote networking and online spaces have changed the way we make a first impression, and his approach to keeping brands engaged with their clients. “We send a lot of videos in my company,” he explains, “I'll have somebody say to me, like, ‘Oh, this client's ghosted us, blah, blah, blah, blah. They're not returning calls.' I'm like, did you send [a video]? They probably forgot you're a real person.” He shares his thoughts about Gen Z, and now Gen Alpha, and how their lifelong experience with social media will impact the future of branding. “Fifteen years ago or ten years ago,” he recalls, “the number one thing kids wanted to be when they grew up was doctors and lawyers. Do you know what the number one thing is now for kids junior-high and below? Influencers.”(0:17:34) - AI and Creativity in MarketingOur conversation concludes with a firsthand account of how AI is helping Dennis reinvent and expand his approach to podcast development. “I'm hoping that when we produce this [next] podcast,” he says, “we actually produce it as a cartoon, that when we produce this podcast, we actually produce it as a cartoon, and...
