Happy Sunday! On this episode, meet two young bright girls who recently participated in a competition organised by the World Alliance in partnership with the Emirates Environmental Group. They presented their innovative ideas to save the environment. Both of them tell me more about their process in this inspiring chat. While Sinchana is all set to compete for the big win in Sweden, Aliya looks forward to implementing her idea and taking it to the next level. Water Alliance, in association with Emirates Environmental Group, have announced the winners of the 2023 edition of the RE-NEW Our World Challenge. The competition was open to students in schools across the UAE, aged between 8 and 18, with participants split into two age categories. Their work was judged based on several criteria, including impact, feasibility, innovation, and sustainability. The exciting bit is that Sinchana Hiremath, from GEMS Our Own English High School (Dubai), who took home first place in the Senior Category, will go on to represent the UAE at the prestigious Stockholm Junior Water Prize international competition, with the finals scheduled to be held in Stockholm, Sweden, in August this year. The overall winner will receive a grand prize of $15,000 and a trophy presented by the prize's patron, HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. Sinchana chose to focus on the issue of water pollution, and specifically the detrimental impact of microbeads. Fifteen year old Sinchana has developed a novel Microplastic Radar App to help detect harmful components in the ingredient lists of commercially available products. Thirteen-year-old Aliya Nujum Navaz from Al Ain Juniors School (Abu Dhabi), won the challenge's mid-age (12-14) category. Aliya's cutting-edge solution uses drone technology to identify and target fires, serving as an alternative to traditional techniques that require and consume large amounts of water. The Medicis and Florence, Luxembourg and its Freeport, London and New York with their auction houses. Successful financial centres are also successful centres for art. How are art and finance related to each other? Can art elevate the standing of financial centres? Can financial centres help artists? Can art become an asset class? The World Alliance for International Financial Centres (WAIFC) and its members will be examining this subject this year. Keiichi Aritomo, Executive Director of FinCity, Tokyo and Chair of WAIFC for 2023 and 2024 will discuss why this is an important topic for financial centres and what challenges he wishes to address with WAIFC. Adriano Picinati di Torcello, Director of Deloitte Luxembourg as a financial services practitioner has been working on the intersection between art and finance for more than 20 years and is one of the architects of Luxembourg's art and finance cluster. Dennis Layton, Senior Advisor of McKinsey & Company is launching an art investment platform, Ikon Exchange which he describes as a “stock exchange for fine art” that provides art enthusiasts with an opportunity to own art and museums with cash flow to help them continue their work. We will discuss the following questions and themes: Can art be a financial asset class? Can we expect a return? Protection of artwork and artists as an “S” in ESG Financial centres are expensive and can become inhabitable for artists. How can we balance gentrification and the creative energy artists can bring? From 1797 to 1801, during the Haitian Revolution, President John Adams and Toussaint Louverture forged diplomatic relations that empowered white Americans to embrace freedom and independence for people of color in Saint-Domingue. The United States supported the Dominguan revolutionaries with economic assistance and arms and munitions; the conflict was also the U.S. Navy's first military action on behalf of a foreign ally. This cross-cultural cooperation was of immense and strategic importance as it helped to bring forth a new nation: Haiti. Diplomacy in Black and White is the first book on the Adams-Louverture alliance. Historian and former diplomat Ronald Angelo Johnson details the aspirations of the Americans and Dominguans―two revolutionary peoples―and how they played significant roles in a hostile Atlantic world. Remarkably, leaders of both governments established multiracial relationships amid environments dominated by slavery and racial hierarchy. And though U.S.-Dominguan diplomacy did not end slavery in the United States, it altered Atlantic world discussions of slavery and race well into the twentieth century. Diplomacy in Black and White reflects the capacity of leaders from disparate backgrounds to negotiate political and societal constraints to make lives better for the groups they represent. Adams and Louverture brought their peoples to the threshold of a lasting transracial relationship. And their shared history reveals the impact of decisions made by powerful people at pivotal moments. But in the end, a permanent alliance failed to emerge, and instead, the two republics born of revolution took divergent paths. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/negmawonpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/negmawonpodcast/support

The year 2017 was a pivotal year for ecumenism as the world speeds toward religious unity. The charismatic movement is playing an important part and Christians are pointing to signs common among charismatics as proof that the Holy Spirit is with them, regardless of doctrinal differences. Is speaking in tongues, or other manifestations, all that's necessary for religious unity? Walter Veith looks at the World Alliance of Religions for Peace Summit in which religious leaders and political leaders gathered and signed religious unity documents. Can world peace exist when Jesus, the Prince of Peace, is excluded?
Jesus told us to watch the prophetic signs of the end so that we won't be caught by surprise. One of those signs is the talk of peace and safety by world leaders as they make plans for a better world and work for religious unity. What was accomplished by the World Alliance for Peace Summit in the push for unity of religions? The final confrontation between Christ and Satan is opening before our eyes. Who are the two key players of Revelation 13 who are acting their parts in these last days? These are the ones to watch if we are to avoid being taken in the snare. This introductory lecture sets the stage for an examination of Bible prophecy, history and current world events to show us where we are and where we're heading.

According to Wikipedia, Bertrand Piccard is a Swiss psychiatrist and balloonist. This is something of an understatement. Bertrand did indeed qualify as a psychiatrist from the University of Lausanne. But he is best-known as an explorer, aviator and communicator. Bertrand comes from a family of explorers – grandfather Auguste invented the pressurised balloon capsule was the first man to witness the curvature of the earth with his own eyes, setting the world altitude record 16,201 meters in 1932. His father, Jacques Piccard, designed became the first man to dive 10,916 metres in a submarine to the bottom of the Marianas Trench, and also did a month-long, 3,000 km drift dive in the Gulf Stream. Bertrand made the first non-stop round-the-world balloon flight in 1999, together with co-pilot Brian Jones. He then made the first round-the-world flight in an electric plane in 2015 and 2016, sharing flight segments with André Borschberg. He now runs the Solar Impulse Foundation and the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions, which is in the process of certifying 1000 economically competitive and environmentally-friendly products and technologies which could be adopted by users right now. Michael is a proud member of the advisory board, and as of today, we have certified 652 solutions. Bertrand lives in Lausanne and like Michael, is a friend of les Diablerets, a small village where his family holidayed and where he learned to ski.LinksBertrand Piccard’s websitehttps://bertrandpiccard.com/home Bertrand Piccard’s Wikipedia pagehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertrand_Piccard The story of the Solar Impulse round-the-world electric flighthttps://aroundtheworld.solarimpulse.com/adventure Solar Impulse flight on Wikipediahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_Impulse How to raise $170m for a crazy ideahttps://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-raise-170-million-crazy-idea-bertrand-piccard/ Solar Impulse Foundation/World Alliance for Efficient Solutionshttps://solarimpulse.com/ Breitling Orbiter on Wikipediahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breitling_Orbiter The Greatest Adventure, book on the balloon circumnavigation by pilots Piccard and Joneshttps://www.amazon.com/greatest-adventure-balloonists-round-world/dp/0747271283/ref=sr_1_1About Cleaning UpOnce a week Michael Liebreich has a conversation (and a drink) with a leader in clean energy, mobility, climate finance or sustainable development. Each episode covers the technical ground on some aspect of the low-carbon transition – but it also delves into the nature of leadership in the climate transition: whether to be optimistic or pessimistic; how to communicate in order to inspire change; personal credos; and so on.And it should be fun – most of the guests are Michael’s friends.Follow Cleaning Up on Twitter: https://twitter.com/MLCleaningUpLinks to other Podcast Platforms: https://www.cleaningup.live/

Welcome back for another amazing episode from the triplets of mayhem, the Nerds Amalgamated crew. This week we have an excellent show for you to enjoy with everyone in fine form and having fun. The first topic of the week is from DJ looking into Simon Pegg claiming that cinema appears to be dying. Now does this relate to the comments about thin margins in movies? Well, that is a good question and if you want to know more you will have to listen in to find out. But we are you will laugh when you listen to this section.Next up Professor unveils his darker side and lures us into a dungeon…. What, he doesn’t… oops sorry apparently that was supposed to be Professor tells us about a dungeon game made by an AI. My apologies, but it is a reasonably easy mistake to make, after all he is a bit of a mad scientist. But this is looking really cool and fun, some of the options in this are pretty outstanding. Once again this is not a warning about AI trying to take over the world…yet.Last up we have an AI system that is learning how to work co-operatively with people, and possibly manipulating them. Buck brings us a story about some research from Facebook’s AI team that is pretty darn well ground breaking in regards to the results being achieved. We are talking about an attempt to formulate a near perfect response to an imperfect problem. What does that mean, well listen in and you can find out.As usual we have the games being played, with Buck changing his at the last second which is kind of cool. Then this is followed by the regular variety of shout outs, remembrances, birthdays, and special events. We are offering a new service, if you are feeling a little pompous and wish to regain that sense of reality Buck is offering to develop a personal insult just for you. As always please remember to take care of yourselves, look out for each other and stay hydrated.Simon Pegg: "Theatrical Cinema, Sadly, Appears to Be Dying"- https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/simon-pegg-theatrical-cinema-sadly-appears-be-dying-1258252A.I. In 1912 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his "invention of automatic regulators for use in conjunction with gas accumulators for illuminating lighthouses and buoys". He died from terminal cancer at the age of 68 in Lidingö,Stockholm - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustaf_Dal%C3%A9n9 Dec 1970 - Artem (Artyom) Ivanovich Mikoyan, Soviet Armenian aircraft designer, who cofounded the Mikoyan-Gurevich design bureau along with Mikhail Gurevich. In March 1942, the bureau was renamed OKB MiG (Osoboye Konstruktorskoye Büro), ANPK MiG (Aviatsionnyy nauchno-proizvodstvennyy kompleks) and OKO MiG. The MiG-1 proved to be a poor start, the MiG-3 went into production but only occasionally could it fight in its intended high-level interceptor role. Further MiG-5, MiG-7 and MiG-8 Utka did not progress beyond research prototypes. He died from stroke at the age of 65 in Moscow - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artem_Mikoyan9 Dec 2005 - Robert Sheckley, American writer. First published in the science-fiction magazines of the 1950s, his numerous quick-witted stories and novels were famously unpredictable, absurdist, and broadly comical. His works include not only original short stories and novels, but also TV series episodes (Captain Video and His Video Rangers), novelizations of works by others (Babylon 5: A Call to Arms, after the film , stories in shared universes such as Heroes in Hell, and collaborations with other writers. In many stories Sheckley speculates about alternative (and usually sinister) social orders, of which a good example is the story "A Ticket to Tranai" (which tells of a sort of Utopia designed for human nature as it actually is, which turns out to have terrible drawbacks). His novel Dimension of Miracles is often cited as an influence on Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, although in an interview for Neil Gaiman's book Don't Panic: The Official Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Companion, Adams said he had not read it until after writing the Guide. He died from complications following heart surgery and a stroke at the age of 77 in Poughkeepsie, New York - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_SheckleyFamous Birthdays9 Dec 1608 - John Milton, English poet and intellectual, who served as a civil servant for the Commonwealth of England under its Council of State and later under Oliver Cromwell. He wrote at a time of religious flux and political upheaval, and is best known for his epic poem Paradise Lost, written in blank verse. Writing in English, Latin, Greek, and Italian, he achieved international renown within his lifetime, and his celebrated Areopagitica, written in condemnation of pre-publication censorship, is among history's most influential and impassioned defences of freedom of speech and freedom of the press. His desire for freedom extended into his style: he introduced new words (coined from Latin) to the English language, and was the first modern writer to employ non-rhymed verse outside of the theatre or translations. Samuel Johnson praised Paradise Lost as "a poem which...with respect to design may claim the first place, and with respect to performance, the second, among the productions of the human mind", though he described Milton's politics as those of an "acrimonious and surly republican". Poets such as William Blake, William Wordsworth and Thomas Hardy revered him. He was born in Bunhill, London - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Milton9 Dec 1917 - Leo James Rainwater, American physicist who shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1975 for his part in determining the asymmetrical shapes of certain atomic nuclei. During World War II, he worked on the Manhattan Project that developed the first atomic bombs. In 1949, he began developing his theory that, contrary to what was then believed, not all atomic nuclei are spherical. His ideas were later tested and confirmed by Aage Bohr's and Ben Mottelson's experiments. He also contributed to the scientific understanding of X-rays and participated in the United States Atomic Energy Commission and naval research projects. Rainwater joined the physics faculty at Columbia in 1946, where he reached the rank of full professor in 1952 and was named Pupin Professor of Physics in 1982. He received the Ernest Orlando Lawrence Award for Physics in 1963 and in 1975 was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics, "for the discovery of the connection between collective motion and particle motion in atomic nuclei and the development of the theory of the structure of the atomic nucleus based on this connection". He was born in Council, Idaho - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Rainwater9 Dec 1926 - Henry Way Kendall, American particle physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1990 jointly with Jerome Isaac Friedman and Richard E. Taylor "for their pioneering investigations concerning deep inelastic scattering of electrons on protons and bound neutrons, which have been of essential importance for the development of the quark model in particle physics." These experiments involved scattering high-energy beams of electrons from protons and deuterons and heavier nuclei. At lower energies, it had already been found that the electrons would only be scattered through low angles, consistent with the idea that the nucleons had no internal structure. However, the SLAC-MIT experiments showed that higher energy electrons could be scattered through much higher angles, with the loss of some energy. These deep inelastic scattering results provided the first experimental evidence that the protons and neutrons were made up of point-like particles, later identified to be the up and downquarks that had previously been proposed on theoretical grounds. The experiments also provided the first evidence for the existence of gluons. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Way_KendallEvents of Interest9 Dec 1851 – The first YMCA in North America is established in Montreal. YMCA is Young Men's Christian Association. From its inception, it grew rapidly and ultimately became a worldwide movement founded on the principles of muscular Christianity. Local YMCAs deliver projects and services focused on youth development through a wide variety of youth activities, including providing athletic facilities, holding classes for a wide variety of skills, promoting Christianity, and humanitarian work. YMCA globally operates on a federation model, with each independent local YMCA voluntarily affiliated with its national organization. The national organizations, in turn, are part of both an Area Alliance (Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the United States, and Canada) and the World Alliance of YMCAs (World YMCA). - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YMCA9 Dec 1909 - Dr. Henry W. Walden, flew the first successful American monoplane flight. He was the designer, builder and pilot of that plane the Walden III. It was made after building a rudimentary wind tunnel and experimenting with different surface designs. At Mineola, Long Island, Walden and his plane left the ground and flew for a few hundred feet. He put the aircraft back down safely—elated. - https://www.airspacemag.com/history-of-flight/or-die-trying-21230348/?page=49 Dec 1967 - Jim Morrison arrested on stage for disturbing the peace at the New Haven Arena, Connecticut, making him the 1st rock star to be taken into custody during a performance. According to Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek, Morrison was "making out" with a female fan in the shower in the backstage area of the New Haven Arena when a local police officer who was providing security for the band – apparently not recognizing the singer – told them to vacate the area, to which Morrison reportedly replied, "Eat it." When the officer brandished a can of Mace and warned, "Last chance," the singer retorted, "Last chance to eat it" – earning himself a face full of Mace for his defiance. Morrison was charged with inciting a riot, indecency and public obscenity. He posted a bond, but the charges were later dropped. - https://ultimateclassicrock.com/jim-morrison-maced-and-arrested-in-new-haven/IntroArtist – Goblins from MarsSong Title – Super Mario - Overworld Theme (GFM Trap Remix)Song Link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GNMe6kF0j0&index=4&list=PLHmTsVREU3Ar1AJWkimkl6Pux3R5PB-QJFollow us onFacebook- Page - https://www.facebook.com/NerdsAmalgamated/- Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/440485136816406/Twitter - https://twitter.com/NAmalgamatedSpotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/6Nux69rftdBeeEXwD8GXrSiTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/top-shelf-nerds/id1347661094RSS - http://www.thatsnotcanonproductions.com/topshelfnerdspodcast?format=rssInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/nerds_amalgamated/General EnquiriesEmail - Nerds.Amalgamated@gmail.com

Mr. Brown is the author of First Get Mad, Then Get Justice: The Handbook for Crime Victims. We are speaking with Charlie Brown today as he is a major force in the movement to eliminate mercury amalgams. Charlie Brown is the National Council of Consumers for Dental Choice. And Consumers for Dental Choice has a wonderful and truly informative website, which can be found at www.toxicteeth.org. He is also the president of the World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry. Charlie spearheads the national campaign to end of the use of mercury-based dental fillings due to their adverse health, environmental and occupational effects. In a well-organized multi-year campaign he brought mercury-free dentistry into the mainstream by challenging the three main forces that protect toxins in the mouth, the state dental boards, the American Dental Association and the FDA. In 2008 Charlie Brown achieved the distinction of besting the FDA in court and the FDA had to rewrite its website to give warnings about silver amalgams and to agree to classify amalgam by a certain date. When the FDA reneged on its agreement in 2009, Mr. Brown lead one of the best grass roots campaigns ever to bring the agency back to the table to reconsider its rule. In 2010 Charlie Brown founded and currently leads the World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry, which is an assembly of non-governmental organizations from all over the world united to phase out amalgam across the planet.
