As human beings navigating this reality I'm sure this is one we've all struggled with at one time or another. The feeling of losing control or needing to be “more” in control of the situation. That is one of the illusions that the duality of this experience leads us to believe… that control is even possible. We create all this unnecessary pressure for ourselves. To do the right thing or say the right thing to maintain that illusion and “create” the outcome we desire. The reality is that it is nothing we are “doing” that is bringing about those outcomes. It is all about what we believe and how in alignment we are with the energy of what we desire. If we logically know that there is truly no such thing as control, where does that innate need to have it come from? Well that is exactly what we explore in this episode. We hope you will join us. Dr. Drew Pinsky (Chief Patient Officer, The Wellness Company, and Podcast Host, "Ask Dr. Drew") joins Chris Cuomo for a wide-ranging conversation about what went wrong during the pandemic and how science was hijacked by politics. Drew explains why mandates lacked bioethical standing, why “irrational certitude” is so dangerous, and why “rational uncertainty” must be at the heart of science. They also discuss long Covid and vaccine injuries, the collapse of trust in institutions, and how arrogance replaced humility in public health. Dr. Drew warns about the dangers of narcissism, scapegoating, and mob thinking, and shares why the pessimism of young people scares him the most. At the same time, he talks about what gives him hope — resilience, families, and the possibility of finding meaning in difficult times. It's a strange kind of exhaustion—working harder than ever yet feeling like you're stuck in the same spot. The price of everything climbs, your paycheck seems to shrink, and those high-risk “opportunities” just drain more energy than they're worth. It's not just about money anymore; it's about the constant pressure, the sense that life is passing by while you're caught in the grind. The thought of a system quietly building for you, without constant babysitting or sleepless nights, feels almost unreal—but it's the kind of calm most people are secretly chasing. https://youtu.be/GTvZPIAhgPk?si=6MgBZYX7CoM9gmyl Casey Stubbs, host of Replace Your Income with Options and author of the Freedom Income Options Substack, has over 30 years in trading. Today, he addresses inflation's impact and stressed the value of steady, disciplined growth. He explains his 1% weekly options strategy, designed to replace income without high-risk trades or day-trading stress. His approach focuses on consistency, patience, and financial freedom through smart options investing. Stay tuned! Quotes: “I believe the way to get rich fast is to get rich slow—and it doesn't take as long as people think.” “Get out of your comfort zone. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Twila Mason, author of the book Piece by Piece. Twila is an award-winning romance author. She has been writing her own stories since she learned how to read. She is a writer of romance, women's fiction, poetry, and short stories. Her work explores raw emotions and the complexities of life while finding the hope within every obstacle. After obtaining a PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology, she switched gears to follow her lifelong dream of putting her fictional stories out into the world. She lives the rural, small-town life in Missouri with her husband, two kids, and menagerie of animals. When she's not reading or writing, Twila can be found crafting, farming, doing home improvement projects, or going on adventures with her family. In my book review, I stated Piece by Piece is a friends-to-lovers contemporary romance that takes a hard look at the drug culture - and what it does to families. Aria spends her childhood looking after her baby brother, Ben, because her mother simple cannot. As a drug addict, she is often high, always unreliable, and rarely offers motherly support. When her mother spends the rent money, Aria arrives home to find the family is now on the street. She turns to an old friend, Luke, who found a way out of the old neighborhood. Although there is an immediate spark between them, Luke and Aria dance around the attraction because neither is ready to commit. We get front row seats as we watch them battle their demons and navigate a new world where peace, hope, and love have a chance to exist. As completely foreign concepts, neither one really knows what to do when life isn't a battlefield. That's not to say everything is easy. Moving past trauma and finding the right path is not easy. Nor is forgiveness - of others or of self. And what to do when the ones you should love are the ones that keep hurting you? This story is sweet as two young people fall in love. But it is also edgy as we see what happens when drugs and alcohol cause childhood trauma and can easily create a family cycle of abuse. Have you ever cared so deeply for everyone else that you forgot to care for yourself? In this episode of It's a Mindset, I sit down with Dr. Siew-Fang Law and Hannes van Rensburg, co-founders of Bento Box of Care, to explore what happens when giving and caring come at the expense of our own wellbeing. Siew-Fang brings over 25 years of experience in leadership, psychology, and coaching, helping leaders heal from burnout, trauma, and compassion fatigue. Hannes has nearly four decades of experience in safety, environment, and risk management, and together they've created Bento Box of Care to support people and organisations in building a true culture of care. For me, this conversation was such a reminder that women especially are often conditioned to keep pouring into others, until we're running on empty. It also opened my eyes to how much our bodies try to tell us about stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue, if only we stop long enough to listen. Key Episode Takeaways What compassion fatigue really looks like — and why it's more common than we think. How women are conditioned to care for others, often at the expense of themselves. The impact of unacknowledged “small traumas” and the lack of mental health support in many workplaces. Why listening to your body's symptoms matters when it comes to stress, burnout, and care. About the Guests Dr Siew-Fang Law is the CEO and co-founder of Bento Box of Care. She builds leadership models drawing on her professional training in social psychology and peace psychology, and over 25 years of leadership and governance experience in higher education and nonprofit sectors. She provides coaching, therapy and organisational training to help leaders heal from compassion fatigue, burnout and trauma as well as build a culture of care for the organisation. Her coaching approaches include Root-Cause Therapy, Trauma-Informed Coaching-Therapy, Mediation, Conflict Resolution, Diversity and Inclusion. Hannes van Rensburg has 37 years of experience in Health, Safety, Environment, Community, Risk Management, and Charity, caring for teams in various industries. He has worked for the Dow Chemical Company and BHP. In 2021, he founded JANSZ Leadership Excellence, co-create programs to develop authentic safety leaders. To celebrate 10 years of the English with Kirsty podcast, I'm creating a 10-part series to celebrate 10 different forms that learning can take.Part nine of the series is about learning through podcasting. Not just listening to podcasts, but hosting them! I decided to give myself the challenge of inviting guests whom I didn't know so that I would meet some new podcasters too. David has been to a couple of my networking events and I met Nina and Lisa for the first time on the call. We've all had different experiences in terms of starting our podcasts, but we discovered a lot of parallels too! When you start a project such as a podcast, you inevitably learn a lot about yourself, it brings new opportunities, and you develop all kinds of skills that you may not know you needed

Are you struggling to find your voice as a podcast host and fully engage your audience? In this episode, Louis shares five essential tips to help you become a great podcast host. He explains how to build confidence, engage your audience, and manage guests like a pro. Discover how to prepare effectively, create a welcoming environment for your guests, master active listening, deliver your podcasts with the right level of energy and fully engage your audience. Louie's practical strategies will help you overcome nerves and deliver compelling episodes—whether you're flying solo or hosting with a guest. Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! Use email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways Your energy is important. If you speak in a monotone, in a low tone most people will automatically switch off mentally and click away. On the other hand, being over the top will also turn people off. Louie explains how to keep your energy high enough. Train yourself to be an active listener. Louie explains how to do that and react when your guest says something you want them to elaborate on. Preparation is vital. It helps your confidence and creates the mental head space to actively listen to your guest. It enables you to be truly present instead of constantly thinking about what you are going to say next. Pause briefly each time your guest stops speaking. If they have something else to say they will be able to do so without your talking over them. It also gives you and your audience time to think. BEST MOMENTS “Tip number one is all about energy, tone and pacing. Make sure, as a host, that you are constantly thinking about how your energy is coming across.” “Listen back to yourself and see how you feel or get some feedback from a listener and then react accordingly.” “Try and be as quiet as humanly possible whilst the other person's speaking, so you're not disrupting the airwaves.” "Make sure that they (your guests) are comfortable, make sure they know that they can pause. Make sure they know that you can edit things out. Make sure that you guide them through it. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Jo Taylor, author of the book Margaret of Thibodaux. Jo is an obstreperous, retired ER Nurse who is likely an obstreperous writer too. She grew up with three stepmothers (not at the same time). She's lived on a boat and traced her genealogy back to the year 310 (maybe, probably, you know how genealogy is). She's been married for 33 years and all her hero characters are based on her husband, a hero in real life. Her first book, Postcards: Collected Poems and Short Stories, came out in July 2024. Margaret of Thibodaux, her first novel, released on March 18, 2025. In Carole's book review, she stated: 14-year-old Margaret is not going to let her father erase the memory of her deceased mother by bringing another woman (certainly not a stepmother) into their home. Her best friend, Honey tries to convince her there's nothing to worry about. The new woman is a doctor after all, loved by the entire town. But for the past six years her mother has appeared at her feet and lulled her to sleep with her favorite lullaby. Margaret is convinced that couldn't possibly continue if another woman occupies the master bedroom. Jo Taylor masters this coming-of-age story which takes place in Louisiana during the summer of 1974. You can almost feel the heat of the bayou as Margaret and her friends solve the problems of the world on the swings at the water's edge. The local town medium is the one person Margaret feels can help her contact her mother to make sure their routine won't change. But no medium, or talk with friends, or even pleading with her father can assure her things will be fine. It isn't until she finds a poem at her mother's grave that she begins on a path to a solution she can live with. This is a story you'll want to put on your TBR list. So in this episode we dive ALL the way in. Chandra looks into the numerology of our names; the name of the show (Ohm-g Podcast) and the cheeky name we use to loving refer to us 4 crazy witches (Woo Crew) Camille pulls out all the planetary stops and runs our chart based on the date our first episode aired. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Deonna Kay, author of the book The Measure of Enough. Deonna Kay is a native Texan. She is the proud mom of a young adult daughter, an over-sized dog, and the fuzziest cat you've ever seen. Her passion for writing began as a child and has carried over into her adult life. She tutors youth in writing and works as a contract reader and editor, providing feedback to other budding writers. She is also a business owner in the world of finance and loves to travel, particularly to Walt Disney World. THE MEASURE OF ENOUGH is her debut, and she's excited to share it with the world. In my book review, I stated The Measure of Enough is part women's fiction and part psychological thriller. This makes The Measure of Enough a perfect read for those who love strong character development but like twists and turns. We meet Kacee who runs her own non-profit to help abused women after leaving her hometown full of broken promises, unfulfilled dreams, and an image she can't shake. Although confident at work, she is an emotional wreck on the inside. We soon learn she must use pills and alcohol to make it through her days and her nightmare filled nights. What's the worst thing that can happen to Kacee? She is called home where she will have to face her mother and her best friend - two people she hasn't spoken to in years. And then there's the matter of her estranged father as well. Add to this the gray truck the seems to follow her everywhere, a home invasion, and cryptic messages telling her to back off. What does it all mean? And will getting to the bottom of it help Kacee move forward in life - or embroil her further in emotions she doesn't want to face? This is a great story that deals with mental health issues, abuse (both sexual and physical), addiction, and eating disorders. It is a definite must-read. Megyn Kelly, currently host of The Megyn Kelly Show, a talk show and podcast that airs daily on Sirius XM's Triumph channel and has over 3.6 million subscribers on YouTube, makes her return to the program to talk about her upcoming live tour, inspired by Tucker Carlson's, where she'll engage audiences in cities nationwide alongside figures like Charlie Kirk, Ben Shapiro, and Donald Trump Jr. She addresses criticism that she's aligned with anti-Israel voices, firmly rejecting the charge and reaffirming her support for Israel while noting the country is losing the PR war and needs to resolve the conflict. The conversation shifts to crime, where Kelly argues that post–George Floyd policies, fueled by BLM, have endangered American cities by weakening law enforcement and bail standards. She advocates a return to tough-on-crime approaches, praises Trump's efforts to send federal help to cities, and criticizes Democratic governors for refusing assistance out of partisan hatred. The interview closes with promotion of her tour stop in White Plains, NY, this November. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Bo Dietl, Red Apple Podcast Host, calls in for his weekly Tuesday morning hit with Sid to rant about the upcoming mayoral race in New York City and his strong opposition to Zohran Mamdani, whom he described as a dangerous, radical candidate. Dietl praises Curtis Sliwa as the only contender who aligns with Donald Trump's values on law and order, opposing bail reform and sanctuary city policies. He criticizes other candidates for attacking one another instead of exposing Mamdani's record, urging financial and public support for efforts like his NYC ABM (Anyone But Mamdani) campaign. Dietl also ties the issue to broader national and international concerns, drawing parallels to rising socialism, the threat of crime, and support for Israel after October 7. He closes by calling on New Yorkers to fight for their city rather than flee, insisting that Curtis Sliwa—despite critics—offers incorruptible leadership focused on public safety. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Roseanne D'Ausilio, author of the book Pain, Pumpernickel, and Profound Forgiveness. Roseanne D'Ausilio, Ph.D., is an industrial psychologist, consultant, best-selling author, executive coach, customer service expert, and President of Human Technologies Global. Known as ‘the practical champion of the human,' in a high-tech world, she authors 15 mostly non-fiction books. Her first book was Wake Up Your Call Center: Humanize Your Interaction Hub now in its 4th edition. Pain, Pumpernickel, & Profound Forgiveness: A Daughter's Story of her Punishing & Loving Relationship with her Father is Rosanne's first memoir--A very different genre. Rosanne splits her time between Northern Virginia and the Caribbean and can be found doing Zumba nearly every day. It's her body/mind/spirit dance. In my book review, I stated Pain, Pumpernickel, & Profound Forgiveness is a beautiful memoir. Through the use of short essays, Rosanne helps us understand her relationship with her father - and her mother - the good and the not-so-good. As I read, I often felt that Rosanne learned the lessons of the book - love doesn't always look like we think it will, we can change how we see things, compassion is possible even when hurting, and you can be at peace with your past - as she wrote down her memories. Her surprise at what she found was evident! Rosanne's tales are full of what she calls Divine Interventions - times where logic doesn't adequately explain the outcomes and miracles abound. And through these Divine Interventions, Rosanne learns so much about her father, herself, and their often-troubled relationship. As someone who has struggled with familial relationships, I enjoyed watching the author discover that there is more than one way to see the past - and how you think about the past is entirely up to you! This is a quick, easy read that will leave you thinking deeply. I want to hear your thoughts about the show and this episode. Text us here...I just returned from a weekend in New York City, and it stirred up more than I expected. Between a $24 martini, a glam squad at the hotel, and the reminder of life waiting for me back home, I found myself reflecting on the roles we play — and how old patterns have a way of resurfacing, even when we think we've outgrown them.In this episode, I talk about what it feels like to live in two worlds: the confident entrepreneur I've worked so hard to become and the daughter who sometimes slips back into old family dynamics. If you've ever felt torn between who you are now and the roles you used to play, this conversation is for you.A peek into my NYC adventure — glam squads, brand photos, and sticker shock. The reality of caregiving for an aging parent while running a business. How old roles and behaviors can creep back in, even when we think we've outgrown them. Why living in “two worlds” is actually part of our growth. The importance of embracing the messy middle instead of chasing perfection.I would love to hear your thoughts on my thoughts in this episode. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Peter Gunn, author of the book The Amazons. Peter Gunn is a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served his country proudly for over two decades. His unique writing style comes from a love of poetry and considers himself to be a poet first before being a content writer. In my book review, I stated The Amazons is a YA fiction that is a cross between historical fiction and fantasy - all done in verse! Peter invented LLP - linked-lyrical-poetry. LLP has the flavor of Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, Shakespeare's sonnets, and hip-hop/rap music. However, unlike Homer and Shakespeare, The Amazons is easy-to-read and understand. The Amazons is a perfect introduction into epic poetry - but be sure to have a dictionary handy. In order to keep the rhyming scheme going, Peter relies on his extensive vocabulary (and a thesaurus or two!). In addition to his unique style, I loved his storytelling and how he linked the history of England after the Napoleonic Wars to the fabled Amazons who supposedly lived in Peru. The story is fun, fast-paced, and filled with adventures. And for those who get hooked on the style, Peter has planned a series and is working on Books 2 and 3. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Ricardo Jose Gonzalez-Rothi, author of the book The Mango Chronicle. “The Mango Chronicle” is Ric's first book-length manuscript, but he has had several published narrative essays about growing up in Cuba. These have appeared in Acentos Review, HEAL Literary Journal, Gainesville Magazine, Biostories, Foliate Oak, Lunch Ticket, The Bellingham Review, and Hispanic Culture Review. Other published pieces include poetry (including a self-published collection of bilingual children's poems), narrative essays, and over fifty scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the Authors'Guild, Writers' Alliance of Gainesville and has served as a nonfiction reader for The Atticus Review. He spends his with his family, four grandchildren, his wife and daughters. He loves dogs, hiking, playing in the dirt (when not playing his guitar), planting fruit trees, tinkering on his farm, practicing ventriloquy with his two (very accommodating) puppets, kayaking, learning languages, sketching, photography and crafting short films (Youtube channel Mango for You. @MangoforYou2day). In my book review, I stated The Mango Chronicle is a wonderful memoir that reads more like a novel. I loved hearing Ric's stories about growing up in Cuba, as well as his heart-wrenching stories about his first years as an immigrant. I have always found it interesting how a child views life. We assume that living in communist Cuba was terrible. And there were definitely aspects that were bad. But on many levels, at least to a child, he has glorious memories of his Uncle, his grandmother, his friends, neighborhood pranks, sports, kite flying, and adventures. Whether he was using his slingshot or stealing a rowboat, Ric saw Cuba from the eyes of a child who loved where he lived. When his family moves to New Jersey, he lets us into his child's mind as he tries to navigate a new world with a new language. Some of these stories were funny. Others were not. But throughout it all, Ric's upbringing helped him forge a path forward. His recollections made me laugh, ponder, swear under my breath, and even cry. You are going to love this book!
