The American Civil Liberties Union has launched a publicity campaign aimed at pushing back on President Donald Trump's pledge to deport illegal aliens. But pastor and Congressman Mark Harris, R-N.C., says the ACLU is “missing the point that not all of these folks that are coming are asylum seekers.”    “If you really were compassionate and really believed in the asylum program, you would not just be trying to push this Biden administration's process along the way, because what you do is you mess it up for those who have real need, and you mess it up for those that are seeking asylum in this country,” Harris said.    Trump has pledged to deport illegal aliens, beginning first with criminals and those who pose a threat to the country, such as members of the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua, which now operates in over a dozen states across the U.S., including North Carolina, the state Harris represents.    Voters “very much believe that we've got to get back to law and order,” Harris said, adding that he thinks Trump was given a “mandate” in the 2024 election to secure the border.    Harris, a newly sworn in member of Congress, joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to explain why he chose to get involved in politics and to discuss the need for secure borders and enforcement of immigration law.  Learn more about your ad choices. UFOs have traditionally been more of a pop culture phenomenon than an actual science. But with the recent declassification of Navy gun camera footage that shows unexplained craft seeming to defy the laws of flight and physics, there's a growing movement among the aviation, military and science communities. They insist it's vital to destigmatize the conversation around Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, or UAPs, which is the preferred nomenclature for the inexplicable occurrences. Because the craft seem to do things that are impossible for our current level of aeronautical technology, and have interfered with the operation of other aircraft in-flight. And if they aren't American, they pose a national security threat regardless of whether they're from China, Russia or... somewhere else. So in this episode, we talk to former Navy Lt. Ryan Graves, the founder of Americans for Safe Aerospace and a former Navy F-18 pilot who has experienced encounters with UAP. He was also one of three experts called to testify at a Congressional hearing in July. He'll share the things he saw that convinced him that UAP are a serious issue, what made him decide to come forward as the first military pilot to go public with his concerns, and why so many pilots experience UAP but choose not to report it. Then, we'll discuss how his organization is leading a campaign to destigmatize the conversation, promote UAP reporting, and bring transparency to the issue. She quickly found herself leaning in to untapped marketing opportunities in digital and social, certain it was the core of connection with consumers. It was at MSL Group that Denise applied the full power of her creativity and process to the #1 marketer in the world, P&G. She became a social media savant, taking big swings that led to big payoffs, and increasing revenue by over 80%. In 2013 Denise moved to MSL Atlanta, where she coached her team to create innovative digital campaigns for clients like Home Depot.Returning to New York in 2014, Denise had an a-ha moment of her own: every day she was helping the world become stronger and healthier through marketing. Almost every wealthy country in the world has some type of universal healthcare system--except for the United States. With over 170 million of its citizens left to fend for themselves in a sprawling and complex maze of Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, tax credits, child care subsidies, co-pays, deductibles and cost-sharing, the U.S. has not only the largest uninsured population, but also the most expensive system on Earth per capita. Why America doesn’t have a universal healthcare system has historically been explained away with a reductionist mix of pathologizing and circular reasoning. "America hates big government," "we love choice," "Americans distrust anything that reeks of socialism." And while this is true in some limited sense, it avoids the bigger question of why has American so-called "democracy" rejected the numerous proposals to enact a single payer or other forms of universal healthcare? While there may be some innate Protestant work ethic or rugged individual mentality at work here, there’s also been a decades-long multimillion dollar campaign funded by big business, doctor, pharmaceutical and hospital industry interests, and the insurance industry to convince the public to reject universal public healthcare. Indeed, if Americans were somehow intractably opposed to the notion––if they were hardwired to reject socialized medicine––these forces would never have had to spend so much money in the first place. On this episode, we explore the 80-year long campaign by capital to convince you to not support universal health programs, how these campaigns have historically fear-mongered against Communists, immigrants and African Americans, who benefits from a precarious, employer-controlled healthcare insurance system, and how this propaganda war on the American mind is anything but over.
