SpotifyFacebookInstagramDelaware based rapper Hammaz has been surrounded by music through friends and family hiswhole life, and most recently he created the album AlphaMale 4: Magnum Opus, which includes he single “Shitz” that will reel in listeners as it is catchy and pops.“This one is more drill,” Hammaz said of “Shitz” which features MusicByDre. “There's no playingaround. I'm back and letting you know. I want all the shitz, I want all the smoke. I'm coming for it.I'm there for it.” AlphaMale 4: Magnum Opus wasn't just whipped together, as Hammaz took his time and selected everything for a reason. Instead of just writing freely, he wrote about specific events and people, and topics that were going on in his life.“I was able to tap deep into a certain bag, and to be able to put it all together in one project, islike one of the greatest art forms I've created over the bodies of works that I did,” Hammazexplained. “I have a personal relationship with PeeWee Kirkland, so I had a couple of sit downswith him. One of the songs on there talks about him and his life.”There are 12 total tracks on the album that also includes “Boss Talk 2,” “End of the Road,” and asong called “Becky, Karen, Susan,” which he said is a little story about three of his favoriteteachers. The song “Again,” is one that shows off his range and has GRAMMY written all over it,Hammaz said.“I am really proud of the artistic ability for me to jump from different topics and different subjects, and stay in that pocket,” he said.Hammaz has a versatile style of music, saying that he performs hip-hop most of the time, and isalso a great storyteller. “I'm good in each department,” Hammaz. “Some people bounce from topic to topic, but struggle in different areas like storytelling, club songs, or drill music. I think I have an A plus in all those departments. Every day ain't the same. Every story ain't the same. Different things happen.” Hammaz was born in Jamaica, but he moved to Delaware when he was eight years old where he lived near the Southbridge projects. He grew up with hardship in his life, but it didn'tdiscourage him, as it actually motivated him to share his life stories. He knows he's not the onlyperson who has had hard times, and he hopes his talent can have a major impact on listenerswho can commiserate.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

Dr. Yasser Arafat Payne is a full Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. Dr. Payne completed his doctoral work at the Graduate Center-City University of New York where he was trained as a social-personality psychologist. Also, Dr. Payne completed a postdoctoral fellowship funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIH-NIDA) whereby he worked on a re-entry, and intervention-based research project in New York City's largest jail, Rikers Island—a project designed to reduce: (1) recidivism, (2) drug use, and (3) other risky behavior leading to HIV/AIDS. Dr. Payne's latest Street Participatory Action Research (Street PAR) project is entitled: The People's Report: The Link between Structural Violence and Crime in Wilmington, Delaware. This community-based study trained fifteen people (20-48) formerly involved with The Streets and/or the criminal justice system as participatory action researchers to empirically document the impact of community violence in the Eastside and Southbridge neighborhoods of Wilmington, Delaware. This research indicated that, particularly in the black community, there are several incorrect assumptions about Dr. Payne and Dr. Daniels will discuss that there is diversity in our perceptions of well-being; thus, assumptions about what “feels safe” need to be challenged. Feelings about safety and well-being can differ based on the person and community they are part of.
Thank you to my new Patreon subscribers for supporting the effort to leave this world a little sillier than we found it. These days, a little silly is a lot of silly. You can support the channel here for as little as a dollar a month. If just the 140 subscribers on YT gave that I would cover the costs of distribution in about 4 months. I know there are more of you out there who listen through Spotify, Apple, Google, Castos, and many other platforms. If more of you climb on board, we can start to build that percentage for the Norm Schloarship Fund at Berklee here in Boston. Silly, supportive AND philanthropic? Talk about a triple threat! patreon.com/normnathanvos I am thinking of ways to provide supporter only content on Patreon to lure you into the cobwebs of my mind. Plus we can message there as well and you can reveal the dark secrets regarding the ways you listened to Norm as you pressed your radio to your ear. I have been alerted to the fact that my outros are being cut off. Are they that bad? The authorities are looking into it. Maybe that’s some subscriber only content for Patreon. The non-cut short outro? Yeah…I didn’t think so. On to today’s feature presentation…Just a mere 9 days after last week’s episode, this one is from December 19th, 1993. By 2030, up to two-thirds of the world's extreme poor could live in fragility, conflict, and violence settings, so without addressing the challenges in these economies, we will not succeed in our mission to eradicate extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity. The disturbing trend of rising and compounding crises points to an urgent need for the international community to come together and develop new and innovative approaches to support countries facing conflict and fragility. During the https://live.worldbank.org/sm22/fragilityconflicts (2022 World Bank Group-IMF Spring Meetings), we discussed how to stay engaged during times of crisis and meet the challenges in new and innovative ways, along with our partners. World leaders came together to discuss how to best build resilience & manage uncertainty. Patton IV, father of Chairman Bob Patton, founded Green Meadows Farm as an organic fruit & vegetable farm after retiring as army major-general in 1980, where he named its fields for soldiers who lost their lives under his command in Vietnam. Combining his devotion to organic, sustainable agriculture with the medical potential of cannabis for veterans & others was the inspiration behind the family's cannabis venture. For more information, visit: https://greenmeadows.com/

The Howard Alumni Movemakers Podcast hosted by Joshua Mercer
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Andraé attended Howard University on a football scholarship. As a 3 time graduate of Howard University, Andraé became the recipient of the Floretta Dukes McKenzie scholarship (awarded to a highly effective educator with high academic achievement) to attend the Urban Superintendents Academy of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). As a member and graduate of the first National Certification Cohort, Andraé was highly recruited to lead the turnaround efforts in an urban school district. In the Winter 2016 Issue of Howard Magazine, Andraé was highlighted as a difference maker in education. President Frederick selected him as the representative of the 5th Administrative Priority of engaging in scholarship and research grounded in solving contemporary problems. In 2016, Andraé was selected by The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to lead one of the most underperforming high schools in the state of Massachusetts. As the new principal of Southbridge High School, Andraé became the 1st black principal in the town's 150-year history. The work that Andraé has already completed was highlighted by the former U.S. Secretary of Education and current President/CEO of the Education Trust, Dr. John King. In the 2017 commencement speech at Howard University, Dr. King stated, “In all of this work, Howard places advocacy at the center. That means — to use a phrase from U.S. Congressman and civil rights icon, John Lewis — that you are prepared to make “good trouble.” In the context of education, “good trouble” is about being a champion of children and using your loudest, most persistent voice to advocate for what all students need to achieve their potential. When I think of this work in action, I think of one of your alums, Dr. Andraé Townsel — a three-time Howard graduate. Andraé recently was appointed principal of Southbridge High School in Massachusetts and is leading the school's turnaround as one of the lowest-performing high schools in the state. He is the first African American principal at Southbridge High. He is teaching for social justice because he already has shaken up the status quo. Andraé forged new partnerships with the local airport and flight school to give Southbridge students the opportunity to earn college credits while they study aviation. Literally and figuratively, Andraé is helping his students to fly. Through education, lives can be uplifted, transformed, and even saved — which brings me to my next suggestion for you as you build your careers. And that is to see and love the whole child. So many students experience tremendous adversity: Poverty. Poor health. Violence. Hunger. Addiction. Difficult family circumstances. I want to challenge you to see those things — really see those things. Look at them dead-on and don't let them lull you into softening your fierce belief in your students' potential.” --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/humovemakers/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/humovemakers/support

Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness: Where the comedy never stops has quite the show in store for you today. July 5th, 1994 is the date that gives us, what I will call, “50 Minutes of Madness.” It’s a Puntastic Dumb Birthday Game that includes plenty of attempts at humor that initially fall flat on their face YET rise like a deranged phoenix from the comedy ashes to be as ridiculous as you could imagine. And if you can imagine, then let me thank you for being here. You’re my kinda people. Please like, subscribe and share so we can bring such legendary broadcasting to the masses. Let’s remind folks how it was done and should be done again! The cast of characters playing the game are as follows: Ken from PA – first time caller and player Barbara in Framingham or not? Patrick in Quincy…maybe not because he was not properly vetted, vaccinated or approved through official channels Roger from Southbridge – who owns an indie record label, Apostrophe Records. I’m on the phone Emilio Marotta playing and producing and leaving for San Diego. Jack Harte in Traffic who’s soaring on the wings on love! And Rod, the WBZ security guard, calling in from the front desk where he’s protecting us from ne’er-do-wells. Bdays for the 5th: Julie Nixon Eisenhower Huey Lewis Rich ‘Goose’ Gossage Robbie Robertson And then we move to Jul 6th Bdays: Nancy Reagan Pat Paulson Burt Ward You’ll be scratching your head at the amount of knowledge dispensed in this one. Did you ever wonder: How ‘Goose’ Gossage got his nick-name? You’ll hear about the few places where there’s a 5-day waiting period to buy a ski mask. How do you hold a bat? Why does George Westinghouse allow this insanity to air every week? And an age-old question is answered: Just what is the main criterion used in selecting players for the DBG? And just you hang on for the revelation as to what tonight’s prize package includes! From a 6m dragon to a taxidermied sailor rat, and even a Nintendo Switch: the Bay's top Trade Me Marketplace listings of 2020 were inspired by the weird and wonderful. The auction site has released its top five most viewed listings of the year in the Bay of Plenty. Topping the list was a $3500 dragon, better known as "Drogon" - named after the central dragon from Game of Thrones. Drogon is ready to spread his wings. Photo / SuppliedThe listing states the long, stroppy teenage dragon is house-trained and well behaved but desperately wanting to spread his wings and fly the coop - and is also a bit of a show pony who loves crowds."Enjoys small children and sheep, stray cats and baby bunnies are definitely his preference, with a pinch of salt and some smoky herbs."Drogon also enjoys watching "Big Bang Theory", "A Knight's Tale", "How to Train A Dragon" and anything with Emilia Clarke in - who plays Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones - its current owner stated.Drogon the dragon was the top listing from the Bay of Plenty. Photo / SuppliedThe Tauranga listing was the most viewed in the region last year with 27,491 views.Coming in second was "Sailor Sam", a taxidermied rat complete with oars, hat and scarf."He's cheap to feed ... everlasting and sends a message," the 16,611-viewed listing states.Sailor Sam's flatmate Betty the Cat had too much hatred for the taxidermied rat. Photo / SuppliedThird, with 15,109 views, was a multi-door fridge freezer, wrapped with a design made specifically by the New Zealand artist Dick Frizzell. The Incubator Creative Hub Charitable Trust were the owners of the fridge and they believed only 10 were made. They stated with artwork valued at $10,000 it was worth "much more" than its retail price of $3000.The Incubator's collector fridge. Photo / SuppliedThe top five viewed listings were rounded out by a Rotorua Giant Reign mountain bike with more than 8000 views and a gaming console Nintendo Switch with 7721 views.Spokeswoman Millie Silvester said wider events and current news were often reflected inTrade Me's top auctions and last year was no exception."Obviously, much of 2020 was dominated by Covid-19 and so were our top auctions, with all five of our most popular listings of the year related to the pandemic in some way."Silvester said a Covid-free bag of air took out the top spot nationally with 210,086 views.Covid-free air was one of the top national listings on Trade Me last year. Photo / SuppliedAfter five days onsite, Silvester said Trade Me contacted the seller and together they made the decision to withdraw the listing."Our team was actively monitoring the listing and when it became apparent that some bidders were not genuine, we made the call to remove it from our site. At the time we removed the auction, the leading bid was $101,200."In second place was a "leprechaun turd" found by a Christchurch father and son on a walk during level 4 lockdown."The charming listing description was written in the words of 8-year-old Pacey and told the tale of how he found the rock and came to list it onsite. It was an instant hit, fetching 157,275 views and selling for $274."The "leprechaun turd" found by a father and son. Photo / SuppliedTaking out the third most-viewed spot was Dan Carter's test jersey, listed to support his local rugby club Southbridge after Covid brought the season to a halt. The listing reached 129,357 views and sold for $21,300.Silvester said both the fourth and fifth most popular auctions featured director general of health Ashley Bloomfield.A superhero-themed sketch of Bloomfield and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern by Aucklandartist Jason Hoyt took out fourth place, receiving 105,744 views and selling for $6350.In fifth place, a Cancer Society fundraiser auction gave the top bidder a chance to havelunch with Bloomfield at Parliament."The listing fetched 87,645 views and we were thrilled to see the top bid reach $13,350 for the worthy cause.

In this episode, recorded on Sept 26th and 28th, I talked to John Summers and Kathryn Millar. John has a small plot of land in Southbridge and there he grows flowers that he sends into the Christchurch markets. He also sells some vegetables and fruit at his garden gate. Kathryn and Geoff Millar have a remarkable garden at Wendrum south of Christchurch. Kathryn is also well acquainted with the rhododendrons at Orton Bradley park and the Ilam Homestead. Kathryn has a long association with rhododendrons and is a foundation member of the Canterbury Rhododendron Group. I apologise for the time editing and putting the interviews online. I think you'll still find both interviews very interesting.
